@Agapanthus13 - Yes we have always used ICSI. DH has low numbers and morphology issues so ICSI is best for us.

Jampot36 · 05/04/2022 09:03

@Agapanthus13 I'm having ivf.
Yes was really pleased as saturday showed 5 measuring over 16 1 at 15 and the others were all around 10 or 11 so they got more than i expected.
I didnt have progesterone. I did the down reg buserellin into stimms and last night started on the down reg pesseries.

Yes my memory is also a bit blurred, I'm having to be very reliant on lists. Could be a combination of hormones and having so much to think about? The ivf is a lot to remember and its always there in the background.

AliceAbsolum · 05/04/2022 09:15

@LuckyNovember @Nutrinerd Good to hear you're doing ok, staying sane! :)

@Jampot36 Good luck with your call today.

@PMAmostofthetime No tips really other than keep busy, and write down your thoughts and feelings if they get too much. Its a rough process.

I feel weak and tried, washed out and sicky today. I just cant look too much into it though and get my hopes up. Could easily be a BFN in 44 hours time....not that I'm counting or anything

Slightly off topic... I strongly recommend a change of scene if any of you can manage it in the 2WW!! I'm too bloated for most of my clothes (forget togs 😬) and can't take advantage of the cocktails, but it is so relaxing to be in a beautiful place for a couple of days!!

I can't believe OTD is already on Friday! Still no symptoms to speak of, but I do think that most people don't have pregnancy symptoms until around 6-8 weeks, so am trying not to fixate on that... I'm focused on 2 embryos in the right place at the right time, and that's probably 2/3 of the best chances I ever had!

I was so disappointed when it didn't work first time - I just thought it was kind of a sure thing - but I think I'm in more of a marathon mindset this time... add that to the list of lessons I wish I'd never had to learn 🤦🏻‍♀️

I haven't managed to follow all the chats the last few days (it moves fast 😂) but thinking of you all, and hoping for LOTs of BFPs very soon!!

Jampot36 · 05/04/2022 09:31

Thanks for your well wishes.

For anyone struggling with weight gain/clothes I've found sainsburys jeggings pretty good...only about £12 each but they look smart and i can breath in them!

AliceAbsolum · 05/04/2022 10:10

@LuckyNovember Totally agree! I'm glad I'm here in Cyprus, yes working and not much on, but having the weather and the beach makes a difference from working 9-5 full time like I was doing the last 3 cycles.
My last cycle I was on retreat for the last 3 days, in a monastery, miles from any shops. It was perfect. I mean I held my wee from lunchtime on the last day and went to the shops on the way home and brought a FRER but still!

I'm not a fan of the one-step pregnancy tests this time around, maybe I got a dodgy batch but they haven't been showing any line progression since the second day I tested. The Frer line is fairly dark now so I think my HCG has been increasing (or at least I hope so 🤞 beta day can't come soon enough)

Just wanted to let you know, as using these one-step tests really hasn't helped reduce my fears of a cp. Although my betas tend to be low (which is worrying in some ways, but also quite nice as I don't get bad morning sickness) so maybe others won't have the same problem!

Jampot36 · 05/04/2022 10:40

Had my call.

Good and bad news, out of 9 follicles only 2 fertilised. Apparently they normally expect more than half. So there was activity but for some reason nothing happened. Now we have to wait til thursday for next update.

Its not what i was expecting. Does anyone have any experience of this? 9 follicles made me really hopeful but now I'm almost convinced we won't make it to transfer.

LuckyNovember · 05/04/2022 11:25

@Jampot36 I had something similar this cycle, I felt awful about it... 9 eggs and only 1 normal fertilisation (which later turned out to be 3 btw, 2 just caught up a bit later 😉). Definitely ask for more details, in my case 2 were too small, and four hadn't done the final stage of maturing properly, and finally 100% of the good eggs had fertilised.

Is it your first cycle? Was it normal ivf or ICSI? I don't know where they get this "normally we expect..." from, it's really unhelpful if they don't know what's normal for you. 9 eggs is really good, and that some fertilised is also good, so try not to be disheartened :)

With 2 embryos they'll probably offer you a day 3 transfer; the ones growing to day 5 in the lab will anyway keep growing and some might even grow better in their natural environment. When you get to transfer, the numbers don't matter as much anymore, each embryo could be the lucky one!

LuckyNovember · 05/04/2022 11:28

And @Jampot36 just to say, totally fine and normally to feel a bit shattered with news like that... This whole process is constant hope raising and crashing, it's really brutal. 🧡

Jampot36 · 05/04/2022 11:33

@LuckyNovember
We're doing ivf, yes first cycle.
They impression i got is that 7 haven't fertilised at all. Just got to hope that our remaining two keep doing their thing and give us something to work with. Fingers crossed.

SamTTC · 05/04/2022 11:53

Ah ffs I forgot to take my estradiol pill this morning. Just remembered, 3 hours late. I read that it isn't that big of a deal because it stays in your system a long time, but I'm still beating myself up about it. I knew this would happen! I don't know why it's so hard for me.

@Jampot36 I'm sorry to hear about the fertilisation, that must feel so disheartening! It's so hard to tell why it happened too since it's your first cycle. It literally could just have been bad luck. I am really crossing fingers for the two that did fertilise, there's no reason to think they won't develop just fine.
Maybe ask your clinic whether icsi is an option next time, if you need a next time?

IVFGotThis05 · 05/04/2022 12:55

Hi

I've been in a few threads since November so I thought I would jump into this thread as I am awaiting for my cycle to show up to start my 2nd FET after 1 failed fresh and 1 failed FET ! I'm hoping in comes in about a week, but I'm irregular so who knows !

Anyone else at a similar stage ? :)

HJen22 · 05/04/2022 13:01

@Hopingforamiracle11 I hope your call was ok, and that you hear back from them soon with a follow up appointment x

@Jampot36 I'm sorry to read after your 9 collected that you didn't get as good news as hoped today. I have everything crossed that the 2 continue to grow big and strong the next few days. I found waiting for the updates so hard but I promise that whatever the outcome, you'll get through this. Stay strong and positive x

@SamTTC yeah I'm obsessed with Harry Potter and watch the films ALL of the time! Going to get back into the book! I'm a fast reader but half the time just don't get round to picking it up! Haha I actually just gave in and bought a few new pairs of jeans a size up. Either they'll be a little too big if I can shift a few lbs or too small if I get pregnant any time soon!

@AliceAbsolum I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so poorly today. Not fun! Make sure you rest and look after yourself. Ahh test time is just round the corner! Do you have to go to the clinic or is it poas?

@LuckyNovember your test date just round the corner too! A marathon mindset is more my thinking now too after such a terrible first round. I think if I'd not been such a worrier about even making it to EC it would have hit me harder. My worst case attitude in one way made it a little easier I guess! But I'm changing my attitude this time to try and be way more positive. Hopefully that doesn't backfire!

TommieNC · 05/04/2022 13:18

Help me ladies...
The logical part of my brain says to wait until 14dp5dt for my Beta and just buy more FRER's and test every day or 2. However, the other part of my brain is telling my to take off work Friday, head into London and pay 50 quid to do a beta on 9dp5dt.
What would you guys do?

If this helps, Friday is a training day and doesn't have anything to do with my job and I don't have to make it up. ha ha!!

Boofimus · 05/04/2022 13:22

I'm now on Easter holidays from school, and spending today getting myself sorted for the first couple of weeks back. I've somehow only just noticed that the first thing I have to do with year 7 is teach them fertilization, implantation, foetus development... Right when I'm going to be doing my test. I can see absolutely nothing that could go wrong in this scenario 🤦🏼‍♀️

Herewegoagain881 · 05/04/2022 14:02

@TommieNC it's so hard to wait isn't it!! I'm really not sure, it's such a personal choice and depends how anxious you're feeling, I'm waiting for my beta on 14dpt, the wait is long but I think that's when I tested last time so I can get more of a feel of what my beta is compared to my previous pregnancy. The FRER should give you a clear result at 9dp5dt. I guess if you test on day 9 and 14 you could compare beta progression though!

@Jampot36 I'm sorry the results weren't as hoped, keeping my fingers crossed for you that they make it to transfer xxx

@Boofimus ah yeah that would be tough, I'm guessing you wouldn't be able to get someone to cover those classes for you if the result isn't as hoped? But fingers crossed it'll be a positive and then it could actually be quite nice to teach!!

LuckyNovember · 05/04/2022 14:27

@TommieNC I only do a beta at 14dpEC... that would be 9dp5dt 😉

Gigi89x · 05/04/2022 14:44

So ladies i posted in here about having to lay down for 30 mins 3 x a day after inserting utrogestan - as instructed by my consultant. (Not starting FET Cycle till next month)

Today I spoke about my concerns to my nurse as realistically this is going to be difficult to do especially the mid day dose. She said you don't need to lay down at all and said basically he's a man & doesn't know what He's talking about 🤷🏼‍♀️
Im now completely confused that a nurse would say something so different to the consultant 😫

LuckyNovember · 05/04/2022 15:00

@Gigi89x 😂🤣
I'm with the nurse... I normally sit, but often move around a bit. In the morning I get coffee in bed so I can stay lying down, but that one's solidly in my favour. Once I planned badly and had to pee a few minutes after so I popped an extra one in afterwards just in case... I don't think that you (or me!) not lying down for 20 minutes each time is what will make the difference, except that it adds another stress/ thing to remember!!

PMAmostofthetime · 05/04/2022 15:51

@Hopingforamiracle11 I'm glad you have a plan now- does this make you feel a little better.
I can only dream- but I'm afraid too. I hurt myself this morning my 7 month puppy was being sick and choking and I swooped down and picked her up. I've been having pain I. My pelvis all day and I'm afraid I've ruined the little chance I had- not that I would have let the puppy choke but I didn't even think until it hurt.

@Jampot36 how you feeling after EC? 2 fertilised is 2 fertilised-
Everyone is different so try not to worry l, I had 8 eggs 5 fertilised but none made it to full blast but others have had 2 fertilised and had 2 good quality blasts. I sometimes wish they just did EC and up dated us on transfer day.
The progesterone is still kicking my butt, always tired no motivation.
Also good to know about the jeggings- currently living in tights and leggings.

@Agapanthus13 I'm only 6dp5dt (technically 4 days as they were not blasts) so I couldn't deal with watching line progression or seeing a negative right now. I am on count down though.

@SamTTC thanks. I'm the same nothing that makes me think- I'll look at those to watch I can't remember much of New girl so that's a very good idea :). And I'll look at the other one 2- anything that helps.
Don't beat yourself up about your meds it's hard, I have reminders and alarms on my phone on my Alexa on my laptop in work it's hard. You remembered and you have taken it that's all that matters.

Thanks @AliceAbsolum you sound like me with your count down- not long at all for you now 🤞🏼 Hope your feeling better soon.

@LuckyNovember i'Ve said to OH next time we are going away! So soon for you too- will you be home then? 🤞🏼

@IVFGotThis05 welcome, I'm not the same stage as you but a few are. Hope your doing ok? The waiting is awful!

@TommieNC if I didn't hate bloods and I had a good blast I'll probably go Friday and spend the £50 as long as they can definitely detect it that day. If there's a chance they can't I'd wait.

@Boofimus awww that is really touch- can you switch topics up a bit? Or get someone else to take that class?

@Gigi89x that is confusing, can you have them the back way? I know you don't need to lie down then?

X

AliceAbsolum · 05/04/2022 15:59

Personally I'd be really wary of a nurse undermining a Dr. It's very common to be told to lie down for 20mins after and they are literally what keeps the pregnancy going. Your body will bleed everything out if there is not enough.

LuckyNovember · 05/04/2022 16:03

@PMAmostofthetime are you sure the pain is from picking her up?

LuckyNovember · 05/04/2022 16:04

... could be something else 🍍

PMAmostofthetime · 05/04/2022 16:43

@LuckyNovember I have back pain and a bad head now too- so I'm going to have a nap after work.

Seriously am I like 90!

I can only hope it's 🍍🍍
