Omg the cat 🤣 I can imagine that, cats aren’t light!

I’m just hoping that this ‘feeling like shit’ is a positive thing.

My OTD isn’t till next Friday which is way longer than anyone else seems to get, two weeks from transfer, but I also don’t want to test too early. I know I need to do it at some point though!

Jampot36 · 15/04/2022 09:51

@Iwouldlikesomecake no he is not light or graceful!

Did they say why so long? Mine told me monday but no earlier so original hcg trigger is out of system by then.

tiantian1005 · 15/04/2022 10:09

Hi Everyone, I have been watching the thread for a while but couldnt really contribute due to the delays we had Just looking for advise if anyone has experienced this already. We are hoping to start our first IVF cycle in June after a lot of delays my anxiety is through the roof at the moment. I am super super stressed my DH will catch COVID in next 2 months then we face further delays. DH already has high DNA frag which is part of my anxiety. Has anyone had their cycle delayed due to DH catching COVID before sample collection and if so is default to wait another 3 month for sperm to recover? Any advise is appreciated.

Steph2345 · 15/04/2022 10:50

@Iwouldlikesomecake I had to wait 2 weeks from transfer too! It’s tough and I’m not sure why some clinics say 1 thing and others say something else.
Sending you and @Jampot36 all the luck and patience for the coming days xx

SamTTC · 15/04/2022 10:54

@tiantian1005 sorry, no experience with this, I think a few of the girls in this thread have had oh's catching covid and I haven't heard of it delaying cycles?

@Iwouldlikesomecake two weeks from transfer is also the date I'm given, but it does seem like a long time. Isn't it around 9dp5dt that you should be able to test? Will you try to test early or just wait it out?
@Jampot36 ooh so soon till otd! also hoping that the ugh feelings are a good sign!

I started progesterone this morning, cyclogest pessaries, yuck. I apologise in advance if I start spouting conspiracy theories! I've found that is how my heightened emotions on progesterone choose to present themselves, weirdly enough. Why couldn't I just cry like a normal person? XD
Now I have to remember to take medication at 8 am, at 10 am, at 4 pm and at 10 pm...I'm soooo nervous I'll forget.

Autumn245 · 15/04/2022 11:24

Will catch up on the thread once im home and more coherent but a quick update from me. 9 eggs collected today 😊 I don't feel as bad now as I did during the procedure but OH MY GOD did that hurt!! I cried most of the way through it. Drugs made me woozy but didn't take any pain away 😭

HJen22 · 15/04/2022 11:37

@Autumn245 sadly Aberdeen don't seem to give anywhere near as much sedative or painkiller as other places! By no means are we knocked out or sleeping like a lot of people! I felt the needle too! The Dr did a 3-2-1 countdown ha. And it only actually went in twice seeing as there was just the one follicle and then they did the surrounding fluid. So I can imagine 9 times wasn't fun! I hope you are ok, I think the suppository helped with the pain that day for me, it was the next day I was a bit sore. Sending lots of well wishes, and congrats on the 9 eggs! Xx

SamTTC · 15/04/2022 11:44

@Autumn245 congratulations on joining the 9 egg club! ;) that's a great number. I'm so sorry it hurt, hopefully you'll have a nice relaxing time on the sofa. I found as long as I stayed put and took my painkillers, it was fine. I think I watched a whole season of New Girl that day!

Somatronic · 15/04/2022 12:07

@Autumn245 well done! I'm so sorry that it was so painful though!

5 of my 9 eggs fertilised normally so I hope most of them survive the weekend. I'm starting progesterone tomorrow but only 400mg a day which seems low but I guess they know what they're doing.

HJen22 · 15/04/2022 12:12

@tiantian1005 welcome 🤗 I'll be starting another cycle in June too! I was mega stressed on the lead up to our first cycle too re Covid. It does seem that every clinic is different. Before our first cycle I asked and was reassured that as long as we didn't have it for EC and were well it was fine. My OH didn't even get Covid tested, just me. I will be telling them I've had Covid in case the PCR they do comes back positive because it's within the time frame. However who knows by June what will be happening. I would ask your clinic direct because everywhere has different rules for everything when it comes to IVF it seems x

Autumn245 · 15/04/2022 12:46

@HJen22 thank you 😊 he did the 3-2-1 countdown with me too haha. They went in once for right ovary and collected all the follicles from that side, then in the left he had to go twice as one was quite high up, the nurse had to press down on my left side to try get the ovary down more! So needle went in 3 times rather than 9. I had 22 follicles collected in total. He then showed me on the screen the remaining follicles that were still too small, the biggest being 10mm. It does seem strange to me the they don't knock you out like other places seem to do, I would of much preferred that!

@SamTTC 9 seems to be the average on this thread recently haha, I'm happy with that and the doc seemed pleased too.

My hubby came close to passing out in the theatre room so the nurses had to get him to lay down on the floor as no beds available for him 😂 I think I handled it better than him, despite the pain I was in. I'm taking it easy for the rest of today, might even go for a nap. I have work tomorrow but I'm phoning in sick if I don't feel up to it, I'm sure my boss will understand.

Hope everyone else is doing well today x

Autumn245 · 15/04/2022 12:51

@Somatronic that's a great number to fertilise! I'm keeping my fingers crossed I get the same. Ideally I'd like one to tranfer and 1 or 2 to freeze but will see what happens 🤞 I have to start on the progesterone tonight then twice daily from tomorrow. I have 400mg tablets so will be 800mg a day. I've no idea what's the normal dose but as you say they know what they are doing and everyone probably needs different doses

HJen22 · 15/04/2022 12:51

@Autumn245 oh thank goodness for that! That makes me feel a lot better for next time when I've hopefully got more follicles! I was thinking it was a jab for every follicle! I wonder if you had the same Dr! I know, I really didn't know what to expect as so many people said they didn't remember anything. Sorry I didn't want to scare you by saying I felt the needle, but I'll be doing it all again soon! I could not fault the lovely nurses and Dr!

Oh your poor OH! It is a lot to take in! And at least for us we're lying down! Is he ok now? I had spoken about that to a nurse when I was in getting scanned, and she'd said they always say to partners to eat in the morning 😂 bless him I hope he's ok!

Yeah def see how you are and take it easy, I thought I was fine and went a long dog walk in the afternoon but the next day I was sore so I should have probably rested!

Iwouldlikesomecake · 15/04/2022 13:06

I’ve no idea why my clinic says 2 weeks. Probably because by that time you will really KNOW. I am currently erring on the side of ‘I will test OTD because my doctor will be texting me if I don’t!’ Because I’m burying my head in the sand. But I feel sick and have sore boobs so if it gets worse I might test early…

I’ve also come to the realisation that if I am pregnant I’m gonna fall apart totally till after my 20 week scan, because I’m at higher risk of trisomies, abnormalities and miscarriage and also prem birth. 😬

Autumn245 · 15/04/2022 15:44

@HJen22 I was thankful when they told me the needle doesn't go in separately for each follicle, normally just the once on each ovary. Even when he'd taken the needle out and was checking with the probe for other follicles I found that painful, he was pressing really hard though! And I found that uncomfortable at the stim scans too. My OH rarely eats breakfast so that's possibly a factor with him feeling faint, and he looked at the needle when it came out 😂 silly man. I'm a postie so walking loads is kinda the main part of the job! I do think I'll need a few days to recover so I'm just going to take them off.

What date do you start next cycle?

@iwouldlikesomecake for some reason my clinic is the same with testing 2 weeks after transfer. I was initially told OTD is 15 days after transfer which I thought was a long time to wait, but I guess most people that make it that long without getting AF are more likely to be pregnant. I'm unlikely to wait that long so will be testing early for sure 🙈

HJen22 · 15/04/2022 16:57

@Autumn245 I am very glad that is the case! I did think to myself that was an awful lot of needles for people with lots of follicles! Yeah nothing about it is very comfortable is it! You'll be glad it's over and done with! I hope you get great fertilisation news tomorrow 🤞🏻

I made the mistake of googling and watching a video and the needle freaked me out big time! I'm not surprised he didn't feel great seeing it!

Ah I see, that's a very active job! Definitely take it easy tomorrow if you're in pain.

Next cycle prep starts soon, I can CD1 again which is next week, start norethisterone CD21 again which is around 10th May and then should be in for baseline scan end of May! It seemed like ages ago when they first told me but given were half way through April it's going to come round fast. I really hope with no trigger issue this time it goes more smoothly! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

AliceAbsolum · 15/04/2022 20:00

@Autumn245 9 is the magic number 😁

@Iwouldlikesomecake Sounds scary. Why are you high risk?

@hjen22 Crikey that has gone quick! I remember when you were waiting for AF the first time around. Our thread has been going since the middle of Jan which seems ages away and also not at all at the same time.
How're you feeling with Covid today?

OP posts:
HJen22 · 15/04/2022 20:04

@AliceAbsolum how are you doing? I hope managing to relax a little and enjoy your time at the in-laws.

I know! Time is a funny thing in this journey isn't it! Back to waiting for AF! When they first said June it felt like ages away and now it's like 6 weeks til start again! Scary! I'm feeling a lot better thank you! I tested negative today so if I test negative tomorrow I'm free yay! One day earlier than the 10 days but so glad cos I couldn't bare the thought of another weekend inside!

MollyVanDer · 15/04/2022 21:26

@Bluebonnet3 thank you so much for sharing your embryo banking journey. I'm absolutely ecstatic for your BFP!! I've seen you posting about your stages for many months and it's just so amazing to see you have reached a milestone I dream of. Wish you all the best for your pregnancy x

MollyVanDer · 15/04/2022 21:27

@tiantian1005 unfortunately me and DW caught Covid (today first day negative) and my consultant wants 6 weeks before we start treatment due to some evidence it may impact egg quality. It's gutting

ginandtonicformeplease · 15/04/2022 21:39

@HJen22 @Autumn245 I just assumed everyone was sedated for EC - it never occurred to me that you'd have to be awake!

@Herewegoagain881 I hope you've managed to have a restful day today, and you're not left in limbo much longer. I try to stay off Google as I know I'll end up always looking at the worst case scenario. I'm not one of life's optimists (that would be DH!).

@Iwouldlikesomecake With my successful pregnancy I didn't really start believing it until I got to 24 weeks. Before then I kind of compartmentalised it and viewed it more in the abstract. I was around 20 weeks when lockdown happened; it made it very easy not to tell people!

Herewegoagain881 · 15/04/2022 22:08

Thanks @ginandtonicformeplease I had the most relaxing but depressing day today, my mil looked after DS so I spent the entire day just watching shows and catching up on sleep and crying in between. It really has just fully hit me today I think, limbo is the worst as I already had to go through the feeling of loss when they gave me my first beta number and again when they did the scan yesterday. It's just prolonging the inevitable.. I just hope next week they'll just bite the bullet and tell me to stop, my clinic just told me to go to the scan and see what happens..I pretty much don't see the point though as I'm measuring 1.5 weeks behind..and 3 or 4 injections a day completely sucks right now when it seems so pointless 🤦🏻‍♀️

But yes I stayed away from Google today! I did a very quick Google yesterday 😬 all bad news!

I hope all is going well with you ☺️ xxx

Iwouldlikesomecake · 15/04/2022 22:14

@AliceAbsolum quite banal reasons really. I’m old with terrible AMH, we also have male factor (increases risk of miscarriage) and I have a collagen deficiency condition that puts me at greater risk of miscarriage and prem birth. It’s a lot of hurdles.

@ginandtonicformeplease I think a lot of people feel like that, it is a long time before you start thinking this might actually be ok…

PMAmostofthetime · 16/04/2022 00:03

Hey Ladies sorry just catching up, found lots of motivation since the pessaries stopped and have been well sorting my life out 😂.

@TommieNC I didn't realise your clinic was in Czech Rep. How long was you out there? When will you book your first scan?

@AliceAbsolum Great news about the Dye stealing line

@HJen22 Covid seems to have gotten you good. ☹️ At least you'll have antibodies for that cycle. How are you feeling today? Glad you got a negative Covid test- finally.

@Nutrinerd That's exciting- your travelling for work aren't you? How long will you be gone?

@Somatronic great news on the 9 eggs

@Suki it's always a disappointment when some doesn't fertilise your allowed to feel disappointed we all have. 5 fertilised is good though- sucks that the long bank holiday means less updates- will your clinic call tomorrow? Mine called on Saturday? And it's NHS I was surprised

@Somatronic I was out for the EC- the sedation put me straight to sleep but I was a scarify cat for the cannula and made a fuss. I'm sure they are used to it. I wonder why they don't sedate as much in your clinic?

@Herewegoagain881 Sorry to hear about your ordeal, how are you feeling today? I felt the same when I had to continue with meds after AF arrived and I would go through stages of hope and sadness. I really hope you had a late implanter and everything is ok for you.

@SamTTC That all sounds very frustrating, 1200 mg of progesterone is triple the dose I was on and my clinic was shocked I had AF on it so you should be ok.

@Soleste when I rang my clinic when I started bleeding they reassured me that some bleeding after ET was normal. Mine was AF bit lots are not. I hope it's good news🍍 tomorrow.

@Jampot36 Thank you I feel so much better with the meds out of me- it was horrible having pregnancy symptoms and all those hormones knowing it hadn't worked 😢. My head feels clearer now though and I have lots and lots of questions for my next appointment. The 2ww is definitely the part that seems to never end.
And as for the sore boobs- a shower was too painful for me at one point- how did you not fling the cat 🙀.

@Iwouldlikesomecake my OTD was 2 weeks from transfer too. But I noticed some where sooner.

@Autumn245 great news on 9 eggs 😃

How are you feeling? EC didn't sound pleasant- it's strange how clinics do it so differently.

How's everyone doing? What stages are you all at? I am very impatiently, waiting for my letter for my following up appointment for this failed cycle so we can talk about the next one- I think it will be mid June start 🍍 x

TommieNC · 16/04/2022 07:35

@PMAmostofthetime Yes, it’s a really cool place in the eastern part of the Czech Republic.
We are waiting until Tuesday when we get our third beta results and will book a scan with ultrasound direct for 7w2d.
