Been told for the last time now by my hospital that my partner can’t come with me to the scans so looks like I’ll be going alone on Friday and also can only call him on the phone when talking through the further meds with the nurse. Anyone else’s experience like this? it’s a very lonely place and the last transfer he didn’t even get to see a photo of our beautiful embryo before it was transferred 😢

Justawannabemam · 22/02/2022 12:20

@Bluehawaii29 that's a shame.

My partner didn't come with me for transfer I just called him when we discussed what we had etc. And I was only in 15 mins and done

Ask them to print a photo for you . My clinic done that. And they may show you the embryos ona tablet or I pad. Maybe you could take a photo. I'm sure they'll understand you wanting to show him. Xx

@Bluehawaii29 that's a shame. I know my clinic a year or so ago (when our friends went for their treatment) didn't allow partners in for transfer, but now they do. My wife came with me and I was so glad she got to experience it with me so I really feel for you. My clinic says only transfer and pregnancy scan though. I did the rest alone.

xreadytoglow · 22/02/2022 13:20

@Mochii everything crossed that they do see you and you get some answers x

Mountaingoat31 · 22/02/2022 13:25

The only times my husband was allowed in were initial consultation and to collect me after EC because of the sedation (private clinic). He’ll be allowed to attend 7w scan providing that goes to plan 🤞

Mochii · 22/02/2022 13:42

They’ve seen me. They will call me back tomorrow and let me know the beta result. If it’s over 50 I don’t need further monitoring (I will do this anyway for my own piece of mind), if it’s under but it’s gone up then I need to retest to check it’s doubled

crazycatlady1981 · 22/02/2022 13:43

@Bluehawaii29 my clinic have only just started letting partners in this week! We were so surprised when the embryologist said he could come in for the transfer on Sunday! I did all my last round and fet alone and it really sucked so I totally get how your feeling! Allowing my DH to see what I had to go through whilst in the clinic made it so much more real for him and he finally felt part of the process! Definitely ask for a photo of your embryo, we always get one to take home with us!

@WhiteLily86 great to see a BFP! That’s amazing! Really hope it continues to darken over the next few days!! 🤞🏻x

@Mochii hope everything goes ok at the clinic and they give you a blood test! 🤞🏻

I’m getting lots of cramps today! Hopefully that’s a good sign! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

crazycatlady1981 · 22/02/2022 13:45

@Mochii glad they saw you!! Fingers crossed for good results tomorrow!

Bluehawaii29 · 22/02/2022 14:03

@Mountaingoat31 @crazycatlady1981 @xreadytoglow yeah it definitely puts a dampener on transfer day knowing he won’t be allowed in again. Was really excited about him seeing a photo of it last time. Only the embryologist has the actual embryo magnification photo and she wouldn’t let me take a photo of that, said it’s hospital property. I was just in awe of how beautiful and perfect it looked but he never got to see it; the most he saw was the scan pic but it’s hardly visible at all on that. Just a tiny dot. Let’s see maybe this time I can let him see on a video call at least x

Bluehawaii29 · 22/02/2022 14:10

@Justawannabemam I might ask them about video call as they didn’t allow me to take a photo of it last time :( this time there may be two photos 😱

Gigi89x · 22/02/2022 14:14

@Bluehawaii29 @crazycatlady1981 @xreadytoglow iv been told my partner is allowed in for EC on thurs but not sure what that means, if he is waiting in the waiting room or what part he will be involved in. They also said he is allowed in for embryo transfer. Im so glad as he has not felt a part of the whole process.

Also great to hear you got a photo, i wouldn't have thought to ask thar!

crazycatlady1981 · 22/02/2022 14:32

@Gigi89x when my friend had her ivf pre-covid, her partner was allowed to sit by her bed and wait for her to come round from the operation! Hopefully that’s what your clinic means! 🤞🏻 Good luck for Thursday! Let us know how it goes!

StillTrying10000 · 22/02/2022 14:42

@lucymills1234 Oww thank you for sharing your story. I'm so sorry you've had a totally shit time. Well done for sticking with it. I certainly don't think I'll ever give up no matter what debt I get into as it's all I've ever wanted in life, I just wish there were new things to try rather than just aimlessly doing the same thing time and time again expecting a different response.
@Gigi89x sounds like my clinic, my OH came in with me to the ward but they took me off by myself for sedated EC, but for ET hubby was allowed to sit by my side as it's much less invasive. Such a weird experience! x

xreadytoglow · 22/02/2022 15:27

I'm feeling so upset right now. I feel like I've completely effed up this whole thing... I've been trying to be so careful at work but I work in a busy NHS hospital which is very short staffed so trying to not do too much is just impossible. Today was supposed to be more of a relaxing day but a unit has gone down and now we have double the patients to see so it's been far from relaxing. I'm not lifting patients and limiting physical things but I'm constantly on my feet from one place to another and moving equipment, etc. then I just saw online that the first two days are the most important and to rest and relax ... I've done anything but that. Feeling so scared that I've completely ruined my chances now. 🥺

Bluehawaii29 · 22/02/2022 15:34

@xreadytoglow aww I totally can relate to where you are coming from, f2f was just not an option for me at the moment so I told my employer I can only do remote work. Now the annual leave has finally started but can’t imagine how tough it must be for you to be still going in just after your transfer. Is there no leave you can take sick leave? My work let me take 2 weeks sick leave to pre and post transfer for the first round

xreadytoglow · 22/02/2022 15:39

@Bluehawaii29 I had all last week off but our leave calendar is full to the brim now until April.. My manager is also off this week too. I just didn't realise that I should've rested more and now I'm feeling really upset with myself. I'm feeling a bit of discomfort on my left side where I'd had some pain anyway after my EC and a twinge on my right side every now and again. I'm going to call in sick for the next two days and just hope that if I've caused any problems with implantation that it may start again in those 2 days. But even after that, my job is just so physical I don't know what I can do.

Justawannabemam · 22/02/2022 15:58

@xreadytoglow try not to think about it . You may have surprised your self.

Like you say take thr next 2 days sick. And treat yourself to something nice .x it's pay day Friday. Have a look on the scamp and dude website. I love there designs. Inside each piece says "a superhero has my back" I wore one to all my apps. Silly but I would try anything that Brought a wee bit of luck .

I'm away on a night shift . I hope I can stay awake . I've been going to bed by 9 pm 😂😂

xreadytoglow · 22/02/2022 16:15

@Justawannabemam thank you. I hope it's all okay. I was feeling so positive up until this point but I guess we all need a wobble 🥺
Aw they sound lovely.. yes any little luck helps.
Have a good night shift, I hope it goes quickly for you. What do you do? x

Mochii · 22/02/2022 16:16

@xreadytoglow I’ve seen mixed things about relaxing after transfer. Some studies have shown that more activity resulted in higher success. Different clinics recommend different things as well. Try not to worry, I really don’t think keeping busy at work will impact anything either way.

Bluehawaii29 · 22/02/2022 16:17

@xreadytoglow yeah deffo worth taking time off even if it is just 2 days, the worst thing is feeling like there was something you could have done differently to help it along. I managed to go for a walk this afternoon and now having a bubble bath before expected transfer next week as was told I couldn’t have hot baths or showers last time. Trying to do whatever it takes to relax my back and tummy muscles! Had another diazepam tablet this morning. Luckily didn’t make me too drowsy for work but am limiting it to just one a day. Hopefully last one I’ll take tomorrow as my back nearly feels back to normal 🤞🤞 hope you guys have a restful day, sun is shining again here now after a long time ☀️

Bluehawaii29 · 22/02/2022 16:28

As I approach the 2ww wanted to ask how people are all spending theirs that are currently in it or have just done it. I am not planning on testing early so that means 12-14 days of waiting for OTD. I’ve got some work booked to do remotely but not sure that will be enough to distract my dark thoughts 🥺

Mochii · 22/02/2022 16:35

Had an update from the clinic. Beta came back as 29.2 today. If it’s 60 by Friday they will assume it is a viable pregnancy and no further blood tests will be required. It’s risen quite a bit since yesterday and the line is getting much darker every day on frers, so I’m still hopeful based on the fact my first positive was so late

tulipsandsnow · 22/02/2022 16:37

@xreadytoglow my clinic sends you with a print out post transfer where they literally highlight with a bright yellow pen the bits on 'there is no research that shows changing your habits post-transfer, avoiding physical activity etc improves outcomes, and indeed some indication that bedrest may diminish outcomes'

tulipsandsnow · 22/02/2022 16:39

@Mochii really good news! So not quite doubled since 17, sounds promising x

IVFGotThis05 · 22/02/2022 16:44

@Bluehawaii29 Have they gave you a date for transfer or waiting for the next scan ?

I had my lining scan today and I was 7.6 so I am booked in for my first FET on Monday !! ahhhh. Here we go again! Going to try my best to stay as positive as possible ! :)
