@Justawannabemam I agree don't get carried away, but also as the nice man on the ivf mindfulness app keeps telling me, be hopeful. It can work. Just keep taking it one step at a time.

thislittlebird · 03/02/2022 06:37

@womaninkent I need to listen to that guy, I keep forgetting. I’ll do it today.

Justawannabemam · 03/02/2022 06:56

Ermmm who is this guy . He sounds lush 😄😄

thislittlebird · 03/02/2022 07:15

@Justawannabemam search for the mindful Ivf app, a nice Irish man talks us through all this nonsense we have to suffer

Janefx40 · 03/02/2022 08:06

@thislittlebird I was really near ARGC when we did our first round but we'd moved out to Hertfordshire when we went back - it was Covid tho so there was no traffic so just an hour to drive in. I did my second (and successful) round at Guys x

womaninkent · 03/02/2022 08:06

@Justawannabemam the app is great. This is my third round and I've used it all three times. Now as soon as I hear his voice I feel relaxed.

crazycatlady1981 · 03/02/2022 09:09

@Hopeful199 great to hear that your EC went ahead and 7 is a good number!

@Bluebonnet3 well done on your second EC in 3 weeks!! Fingers crossed for good fertilisation rate!

@geminibaby good luck with your first round! I’m on long protocol too, been down-regging for a couple of weeks and now I’m on day 2 of stims as well!

@thislittlebird @womaninkent need to look up this app, it sounds wonderful!! I could do with some mindfulness right now!
I found a nice calming ivf yoga video on you tube last time, and I sat outside and did a bit of that. Might not be doing it outside this time around! 🥶

womaninkent · 03/02/2022 09:21

I was looking through my notes from the clinic. Has anyone else been advised to avoid swimming in the TWW. I'm curious because I don't think I've been told this before.

lucymills1234 · 03/02/2022 09:26

Morning all,

I hope everyone's doing well. It took me a few days to realise there was a new thread, oops!

I've skimmed through the updates so far and I'm really sorry to see there are some BFNs. It's such a rough time and I hope you're hanging in there. @Janefx40 I remember you from other threads, have you had any more thoughts about what comes next?

I see there's quite a few of us doing stims. I had a scan yesterday, stims day 8 (that's the first stims scan my clinic does). Things are looking positive, they measured 12 follicles all above 9mm, largest was 14.5 and there's 8 around the 11/12 mark so they seem to be growing at a fairly equal pace which is good. There's a few others below 9mm but unlikely they'll catch up. Another scan tomorrow and hopefully they'll say EC on Monday.

I know I'm really lucky to have 12 follicles - especially as that's all from one ovary! - at my age (42). My reserve has been good since I started this process. But I find it so hard that despite responding well I can never get over that final hurdle.... trying to stay positive but self-preservation mode kicks in to say don't get too excited, you've been here before and it's not worked :(

I see lots of chat about protein - I've never checked what my intake is... But I do have yoghurt every morning and eat fish a few times a week, tofu a few times (though not veggie), lentils, protein-enriched cereal... hopefully I'm ok. So many things to monitor/measure/wonder about...

Gracie2021 · 03/02/2022 09:30

@womaninkent I saw that online. I thinks it's because of small risk of infection. One site I saw said to avoid it for first 12 weeks if you get pregnant but don't know the accuracy of that. Congrats on being PUPO and everything crossed for you!

How are stims treating you @crazycatlady1981?

How are you feeling today @Bluebonnet3? Congrats great numbers to start off with and fingers crossed for a good fertilization rate for you.

Hi @geminibaby and welcome 👋

Great news that egg collection went well @Hopeful199. So so glad you were able to go through and hope everything develops as they should x

How are you today @thislittlebird? I'm having massive night sweats the last two nights but don't think that's a side effect of stims 🤔 cetrotide went better this morning, no leakage but still a stingy little injection for about half an hour after. Bring on tomorrow!

Gracie2021 · 03/02/2022 09:32

Hi @lucymills1234 that's a fab result from your scan. Here's hoping they continue moving well. I'm day 7 scan tomorrow so looks like we'll be collecting around the same time. If I got the same result at my scan tomorrow I'd be thrilled. Delighted for you and hope it keeps moving well and this is your time.

Justawannabemam · 03/02/2022 09:36

@lucymills1234 wow those are good little numbers .
I've got a scan tomorrow too @Gracie2021 I'm hoping mine have caught up a bit . I had 1 at 13 and the other 6 were 6 , 7 and a 9mm .
Hope your scans go OK

Cayandsimit · 03/02/2022 10:08

@womaninkent yes, my clinic also told me to avoid swimming and taking baths before ET and also in 2WW. Swimming might cause infection and pool water might ruin the pH.

womaninkent · 03/02/2022 10:17

Thanks @Cayandsimit and @Gracie2021

CharlieBalf · 03/02/2022 10:39

Hi everyone, I was in the Nov/Dec FET group but had a cancelled cycle (Uhh, so much money down the drain!) and am now on down reg for a transfer w/b 14th Feb. This will be my first FET trying to stay positive 😊

Cayandsimit · 03/02/2022 10:46

@charliebalf Welcome! What a romantic day to have the FET 🥰 Good luck 🍀

Bluebonnet3 · 03/02/2022 10:51

@thislittlebird re: fyremadel. I had it my first two cycles and it burns! I'm not sure changing injection location would make a difference. 🔥

thislittlebird · 03/02/2022 11:16

@Janefx40 another Guys success, good to hear! You’re at a different clinic again now?

@lucymills1234 good news on the follicles!

I’ve heard of the swimming risk before, it is an infection risk thing yeah.

@Gracie2021 remind me what you’re on that might be causing night sweats? I’m on gonal f and it’s been fine. My only issues are the thrush (probably caused by high hormone levels) and needing to pee constantly because of all the water. I do have this low, dull ache above my pubic bone and below the fattest part of my belly, I’m assuming it might be my body responding to stims but I expected to feel it a bit higher up like when I get mittelschmertz.

What does the centrotide do? Is it another one that stops you ovulating?

I’ve also got a scan tomorrow @Justawannabemam, what time is yours?

@CharlieBalf welcome!

@Bluebonnet3 glad it’s not just me! I did google and saw some people saying it was a stinger. I emailed the clinic thinking we’d messed it up and they said it was fine. Glad it’s the drug and not a user error at least. Certainly is fiery, not looking forward to that one and might stick to the thigh after all, not sure I want so much damage on the stomach area.

I had a weird dream after I went back to sleep post-Fyremadel. We did it super early before DH went to work, and I hope it doesn’t cause weird dreams. Probably a coincidence but I dreamt the injection was making my face swell (a big fear of mine since I got moonface from prednisone last spring) and I dreamt it was swelling and swelling and I was shouting to make it stop. So that was fun.

Yognog1 · 03/02/2022 11:36

@thislittlebird ah no how annoying, did you get them sorted in the end? Do you knownwhen the scan will be?
My first scan is Monday, second scan Wednesday and they think EC might be next Friday. I’ll have been taking meds for a week before I see them which feels like a long time but like @Gracie2021 said I suppose everyone is doing a different approach.
I had no idea about the protein intake either, I rarely eat meat so I’m off to buy some protein powder and all the other things that have been suggested on here. Hopefully it will make a difference even though I’m already a few days in.

@Hopeful199 thanks , I spent most of yesterday on the sofa with my eyes closed but feeling much better today. Hopefully it doesn’t come back.

Mountaingoat31 · 03/02/2022 11:48

@Cayandsimit and @womaninkent - same advice from my clinic in Herts. Can’t say I’m feeling overly keen to go out and do anything much right now though. I’ve also been advised to cancel my hair (colouring) appointment :( Waiting is hard.

Gracie2021 · 03/02/2022 13:01

@Yognog1 best of luck for Monday. Think I'll be back in then and wed too so will be here for all the cheering on that might be needed.

@thislittlebird it's the cetrotide causing the night sweats. Mystery solved. No aches or bloating at all here today though. How are you feeling?

@CharlieBalf romantic timing! Good luck.

@Justawannabemam fingers crossed they catch up on them and maybe even a few surprise new ones. So hard to know isn't it.

Bluebonnet3 · 03/02/2022 13:08

Day 1 post EC embryologist update: 5 fertilised! That's about what I expected. This is a freeze all round, so hoping for some to make it to day 5. I'll get another update on day 3.

Lbdp · 03/02/2022 13:45

Hope you don't mind me joining. I've been following in the background. Hope everyone's doing ok.

I'm in my first cycle and had a fresh transfer on Tuesday. All went well and I'm feeling ok apart from extreme tiredness! I'm falling asleep at 8pm each night on the sofa and feel like I've got really bad jetlag.

Way too early to be a pregnancy symptom, but wanted to see if anyone else felt the same? Could it be the progesterone?? The only other thing I can think is that I stopped my daily coffee after transfer, but seems an extreme response!

Mountaingoat31 · 03/02/2022 13:55

@Lbdp was same for me on Tuesday. I was in bed at 9 last night, reckon it’s a combination of meds, stress, time of year…

Lbdp · 03/02/2022 15:08

@mountaingoat31 good point. Thinking my body was probably working on overdrive during stims so is trying to take it easy now Grin.
