@KN4321 I'm so sorry to hear that happened. If you have the finances I would consider a consultation with Mr Ramsay, he's fantastic. I don't have much faith in the NHS as far as sperm goes. Totally shocking they wouldn't freeze the sperm, my clinic let us do so at Xmas for about £120 because we were afraid DH would catch covid again and it took about 15months from the last time he got Covid to get his sperm half normal again x

@xreadytoglow that’s great news! 13 is amazing! They told me I’d be awake but with sedation and pain relief, but I didn’t realise it would be different/lower amount of sedation from last time!! That explains a lot, thank you!
I was right with what I overheard and we only got 4 eggs!! Just got to hope they are good quality and fertilise well! We had 4 out of 5 fertilise last time so fingers crossed!

@KN4321 oh gosh, so sorry to hear your news, that’s devastating, particularly as they could have had a back up plan to prevent that happening! Hopefully they’ll will defrost ok and you’ll have some embryos to transfer eventually xx

Just got to wait for the dreaded call tomorrow now and hope we get some fertilised! They said if we want 2 transferred that it will likely be on day 2 or 3 instead of day 5!

Iv been on Stims for 7 days and got my 1st Stims scan tomorrow. Could anyone tell me what to expect in this appointment?

@Gigi89x At my appointment the nurse did an internal scan. Basically they will check your ovaries to see if the stims shots are working and your ovaries are making follicles. Good luck x

Now its the worry why did his sperm go from 60% to nothing within 3 months. We haven't had covid so whats happened? Also will it go back again - if it doesn't then can't use them on the eggs?

@KN4321 so sorry to hear about what happened! That must have been so stressful, I'm so sorry 🧡

We have MFI and the doctor at EC had a colleague on standby to do an extraction if the sample had been insufficient.... (your pre-freeze proposal would have been entirely more dignified and budget conscious!) I can't even imagine your frustration....

I have been told that egg freezing has become quite brilliant, and that eggs that don't survive the thaw might not be sufficiently robust for all the rest anyway. Believe that the good eggs will come through, and one good egg only needs one good sperm!!!

Btw, our experience with MFI is that doctors so far seem much less interested in figuring it out, as it's seen to be less of a deal breaker thanks to ICSI... (God forbid they might actually solve the problem and give us a monthly chance at the jackpot 🤦🏻‍♀️)

Hi all, sorry have been quiet, we took a teeny tiny ivf break for a few days as we got engaged over the weekend!

Congrats to all who got their BFPs and lots of love and strength to those not so lucky this time around. Hope you're doing OK.

@xreadytoglow, wow, well done. Delighted for you as know how worried you were.

@crazycatlady1981 I keep on rehashing my tale of woe to remind everyone that good things really can come from smaller numbers - I only had 3 mature and from those only 1 fertilised so I had given up all hope, considering it from day 1 a "failed cycle" but that lonely little fertilised egg went to day 5 as a "perfect" 4aa blast. Wishing you lots of luck.

@KN4321. I am so sorry to hear this. What an ordeal for you both. I am really hoping things can turn around. As has been said the quality of egg freezing nowadays is truely amazing. We have severe MFI - Azoospermia due to absence of some pretty vital tubes. DH had a successful retrieval retrieval and if you guys end up looking into this route will be happy to answer any Qs for you that we can. We were under the care of the fantastic Dr Ramsey. Expensive but just amazing. Lots of love

@crazycatlady1981 I'm sure your 4 eggs will be great, like you say, a lot of them went on to fertilise last time 😀. Oh so soon! How exciting.

Did your husband has high fever recently? It can also cause some issues in the sperm production just like Covid. It usually goes back to normal within two months.
I hope both of you can take some time off to process what happened. Sending you virtual hugs 💐

Lots going on today .

I done a test this morning to see if the trigger had gone and the lines was really faint almost un noticeable. So I'll know come test day if it's legit.

I feel so bloated on these injections . I think because I've not been the gym either. But I'm gonna have an hour tomorrow or a bike . Just taking it easy.

Well done those collected today. Some good number. Hopefully they are all dividing as they should and you get good updates tomorrow.

@Justawannabemam when is OTD? Take it easy 💕

I'm due ET tomorrow and have very achey lower back and I'm not sure whether it's due to the progesterone or not. I haven't done anything strenuous so a bit odd. Anyone else having the same?

@KN4321 I’m really sorry to hear what happened today. I hope you and your husband are coping ok. Just so unexpected. We have MFI as well but I can’t imagine being told that there was just a couple of sperm left and your eggs need to be frozen. I hope that you can find the cause for why this happened soon and hopefully it is a reversible issue. Sending lots of hugs xx

Hi thanks. I just don’t understand why this has happened. He has given 4 samples and although not perfect I.e damaged dna they never had low count. Now on EC there is zero sperm. Where has it gone and what has happened??

Thanks for the kind words. I just so annoyed and upset. We did so much for this round and I don’t know why His count is suddenly zero. So annoyed they wouldn’t let us freeze his sperm before hand as all this could have been avoided.

Unfortunately I am still testing negative so I am booking a holiday and will not be trying again until next year, potentially not at all! Glad I gave it a go though so now I know where we stand. Good luck to everyone!!!

Meanwhile I’m still battling with oestrogen! The tablets are driving me insane, getting mild depression and so much anxiety whilst taking them. Haven’t been able to function properly at work and been finishing 2 hrs later than normal on Monday and tues so I asked my manager if I can have some break slots at least which has been put it in place until I go on annual leave from weds next week. Luckily got Friday off this week for the scan as the hospital is quite far from us and my husband is off with home on all the same days which will hopefully distract me from my head. I’m having a call with consultant this morning about the plan so will ask her if all this is normal. It’s taking over me so much that I just dreamt I’d taken the morning tablet only to wake up and find it was still there so I had to count all the tablets to make sure I was doubling up on my morning dose! Lol sorry for the rant

@KN4321 yes, that is the most annoying part. My clinic also wants me to keep my money in my pocket whenever I want to have an add-on or extra tests. We are all in such an unpredictable situation. Of course you want some kind of insurance... If you wished to freeze the sperm, they shouldn't have convinced you not to.
Unfortunately damage is done now. I really hope from the bottom of my heart that your husband's sperm will recover soon, so you can thaw your eggs and they turn into beautiful blastocysts 💐

@Bluehawaii29 good luck for your call today and scan on friday! How long do you have to stay on the oestrogen for? It sounds horrific!

So all 4 of our eggs fertilised!! Can’t believe it!! They’ve booked us in for day 5 transfer but will check them on day 3 and if they aren’t looking good, we will do a day 3 transfer instead.

@crazycatlady1981 that’s amazing news, amazing fertilisation rate so hopefully they will be higher chance of reaching good day 5 blastocysts, fingers crossed! Xx
Yeah they’re saying these tablets will go on till 12 weeks pregnancy, and apparently may even be increased depending what the lining thickness is on Friday. I have been through a fresh cycle with all stims and progesterone but this time feels so different, it’s really messing with my head every day and wiping me of all my energy. All started last week when I started taking it and I stopped the injections on Sunday so it can only be tablets doing it

@Bluehawaii29 oh no! That’s a really long time! Maybe mention it to the consultant today? Perhaps there’s different ones they could try instead?

@crazycatlady1981 thanks yeah I will do, I’ve heard side effects are more when taken orally so going to see if I can get maybe patches. I have tried long enough to put up with it but it’s not doing me any good by the looks of it. Just hope it’s done something for my lining at least and this is worth it

@Bluehawaii29 I completely understand where you are coming from - I am on oestrogen (four tablets a day) and progesterone (three pessaries a day) and will be on this until 12 weeks when it will be reduced gradually - I can’t tell how many side effects they are causing as it all worked (and so shouldn’t really be complaining!) but am feeling pretty lousy...
