@Cayandsimit oh wow thanks for sharing this Smile that’s really interesting and good to know. I just pray the lining looks ok next Friday, not long to go now! Hope you have a good evening xx

@LuckyNovember that’s awful… I don’t know what to say…
@CharlieBalf I’ve read target spacing is 12h, but I’m instructed (via app) to do double dose vaginally (other than EC and ET days) at 8am and 10pm. In practice it’s been more like 7:15 and 22:15. When I had to be in the office yesterday it was 6:15 and 21:15… plus side is some days I can demand breakfast in bed as can’t get up for half an hour after. Like injections, you get used to it quickly, but it’s still gross. Others on this thread have gone back passage route which is less messy. I’d ask clinic again if/why your timing is so critical.

Eggbert83 · 11/02/2022 21:22

@LuckyNovember Aw I'm so sorry. A tough day already and you really didn't need that. You are being very gracious but I'm cross on your behalf, I'm sorry!

A lot of my friends have completed their families and my partner is a bit younger but his friends have gone all quiet on the baby making front for now. My biggest fear at the moment is seeing people who will ask when we are going to have a baby (like its something we must remember to pick up next time we're in Sainsburys?!) I'm 38 now and we are together almost 4 years so I know people are starting to wonder. Close friends all know our situation but there's someone I'd like to catch up with (an ex colleague) and I'm avoiding her as I just know she'll ask at some point and I'd rather not tell her - I want to tell people on my terms.

Jesus, we really are all amazing - it's not enough that we pump our bodies full of meds, put up with the anxiety of the embryology updates and 2ww, but we also delicately manage people putting their massive foot in it Halo

WhiteLily86 · 11/02/2022 21:32

@LuckyNovember sorry to hear about your shit day. Hope you have some wine or chocolate to lessen the blow tonight.

We literally play a game of 'guess who is pregnant' when we hear or see (social media) who is pregnant next! The worst was my much younger sister who did not plan it but now has a sweet baby boy and I am so happy for her. I liked to think all the baby snuggles I get from him will kick my hormones into action and get me pregnant, but here we are in full swing of IVF.

Ok cyclogest....what is the deal? Am I doing it wrong? Are you meant to lie down for a while after? What side effects are people getting?

Mochii · 11/02/2022 21:40

@WhiteLily86 it made me feel nervous when I started taking it but feel absolutely fine now! I’ve been taking it for 5 days. I don’t lie down.

WhiteLily86 · 11/02/2022 21:42

Thanks @Mochii I just feel like it's a bar of soap and TMI warning, feels like an hour or two later bits of it come out onto the pad BlushConfused

Mochii · 11/02/2022 21:57

@WhiteLily86 that’s normal, it does come out! It’s not meant to all stay up there, don’t worry

womaninkent · 11/02/2022 22:07

@LuckyNovember that's awful. Such dreadful timing. I hope you're enjoying a nice glass of wine tonight.

LetstalkaboutBruno · 11/02/2022 22:16

@LuckyNovember I am sorry for your outcome, I wish all he luck and success for you next round!

To everyone else who had had collections or transfers, keeping everything tightly crossed!

I am 4DP5DT today and desperate to test. I have had two/three quite lengthy bouts of mild nausea today. I am hoping it's a positive sign and not the progesterone! I am not sure when I will test yet, I am too petrified to get a BFN :(

Have a lovely weekend all!

thislittlebird · 12/02/2022 04:16

Well, the anxiety over our fertilisation rate got the better of me and here I am not sleeping. This is such a crappy process and the mindful IVF guy didn’t have anything to calm me down about fertilisation. I hope they call early and get it over with.

Bluehawaii29 · 12/02/2022 08:03

@thislittlebird aww you poor thing, I remember waiting for the fertilisation results too, was terrified and shaking on the phone when she gave them thinking the whole time she’d say none fertilised but somehow it was 7 out of 8. Just try and stay positive and trust the process. You got this! Xx

thislittlebird · 12/02/2022 08:16

@Bluehawaii29 I feel like we’ll have a big initial drop off rate because of dh’s issues and my old girl eggs lol. I’m happy for them to prove me wrong though! It’s horrible waiting for the call, just trying not to freak out.

Bluehawaii29 · 12/02/2022 08:29

@thislittlebird yeah it’s the waiting that kills! Didn’t make it any easier waiting for updates after that either, the day 3 one was probably equally hard for me as I thought the 7/8 number was too good to be true but they kept proving me wrong with this magical ICSI process somehow we got five lovely blastocysts on day 5. I know that time it didn’t work but having more sometimes makes the process of elimination a little harder as they say usually out of 5 blastocysts 1 or 2 are usually normal and can go on to implant successfully. Just trying to get some hope that they choose the right one this time 🤞 I hope your results today prove you wrong too and you are pleasantly surprised Smile x

thislittlebird · 12/02/2022 08:31

@Bluehawaii29 that’s the thing, they could simply pick a duffer and then that one is done for. Such a crazy situation. If we have one to move forward with it’ll be worthwhile, have to keep thinking of that.

Bluehawaii29 · 12/02/2022 08:33

@thislittlebird yeah I’m just seeing this process as a journey and if it works this time then great but I’m not going to pin all my hopes on one embryo like I did last time— and they picked a 5AA which we couldn’t have been any more happier with but it’s a marathon not a sprint and we just have to keep playing the game until it works x

thislittlebird · 12/02/2022 09:07

@Bluehawaii29 I like that, you’re right it is a marathon not a sprint.

Embryologist just called. Of our 15, 13 were suitable for fertilisation and 9 fertilised. Won’t find out more again until Wednesday 😬. That’s one tick in the box though. Need to try to relax a bit.

KN4321 · 12/02/2022 09:08

Hi wondered if I could join and does anyone have any advised. Had 1 failed fresh and fet, first cycle 300iu Meriofert and 7 eggs collected but with only 2 semi good embyros that didn’t stick.
Started new cycle this month with 450iu of Meriofert but only got 7 follicles on scan before EC. EC due this Monday - slightly annoyed as thought higher dose would have given me more follicles hence more eggs. Will need to see how many eggs I get and how many fertilise. On top of
this disappointment I now have thrush. I have read it can affect implantation so really upset. Anyone else had similar issues.

Bluehawaii29 · 12/02/2022 09:23

@thislittlebird wow that’s amazing news well done! Xx weds is a long wait? How come they don’t give you a day 3 update on Monday?
@KN4321 hi I know it is disheartening when they tell you lower numbers than you want on the scan but sometimes the actual eggs retrieved are more on the day and even with a smaller number of eggs if your fertilisation rates are good you can still be left with a good number for transfer/ freezing so try not to worry too much at this stage. Also the thrush shouldn’t effect your lining, maybe try to get it treated now before you get further into this cycle?

thislittlebird · 12/02/2022 09:33

@KN4321 I had a lot of thrush during stims and they just says to me to treat it right away because after transfer you can’t take anything but the cream apparently :/

I was planning to blast it with oral and pessary canesten before transfer (clinic said that was fine) but it’s been a bit better since the stims stopped, hopefully one dose will send it packing completely before ET in my case.

A few of us here had a couple more eggs by the time collection rolled round. You might be pleasantly surprised yet!

@Bluehawaii29 I dunno, they’re weird like that. Don’t love the element of surprise but at least I don’t have any phone calls to be anxious about now. My friend on another thread was in the same situation and only found out she had only one blast when it was being transferred. I’m not a fan of this way of doing it, especially when you’re on your own usually for ET.

Bluehawaii29 · 12/02/2022 09:38

@thislittlebird yeah for me as much as I hate waiting for the updates gave me some sense of control knowing what was happening at each stage but I still went to the transfer day not knowing how many day 5 blastocysts there were right up till I was in the room so that also made me very anxious while in the waiting room when I should have been preparing my body and relaxing my mind. I guess this time I won’t hopefully have those kind of surprises and will try not to imagine the worst that the embryo doesn’t make it past the thaw. We’ve consented for a back up one to be thawed if this happens so will just try and stay as calm as possible before and during the transfer 🙏🏽 X

KN4321 · 12/02/2022 09:49

@thislittlebird I have taken the pessary yesterday and started the cream but they have told me I can’t use the cream day before EC so only have today to sort it. Did you use the cream after EC? I worried it won’t go away before ET and affect implantation. How many days will it take to go away? The constant itching is horrible coupled with being upset. I trying to be positive I.e. maybe will get more eggs on the day, but I don’t see how in 2 days anything will change :(
@Bluehawaii29 thanks for the reply. I am just really worried and upset. My partner has high dna fragmentation so if I don’t make enough eggs then with his limited good sperms causes issues :( I wasnt surprised when they told me the follicles number as I haven’t had many symptoms on the stims despite the higher dose. Will have to see what happens Monday I suppose :(

thislittlebird · 12/02/2022 09:53

@KN4321 it might not change but you can only hope.

Take the oral canesten too, because you can’t take that after transfer. Mine calmed down by EC on the Friday, on Tuesday was when the stims stopped and by Wednesday/Thursday I felt better. The other thing that helped is optibac. If you don’t have any I’d recommend buying it on Amazon.

@Bluehawaii29 yes definitely a good plan!

Eggbert83 · 12/02/2022 10:19

@thislittlebird Wow! Great stuff! There's lots to be very hopeful about there!

@KN4321 I'm sorry it's so stressful. I'd a disappointing first cycle where my follicles just wouldn't come to the party and mature, it's the worst. It's hard to stay positive and I was completely bereft when only 3 were mature and only 1 fertilised, but that got us a 4AA blast. It's not over until It's over. Wishing you loads of good fortune.

xreadytoglow · 12/02/2022 10:19

I had my first scan today.. I’m currently day 8 on stims.

On my right side I have 1x 19mm, 1x 18mm and 1x 16mm. On my left I have 1x 18mm. But then I also have on my left 1x 15mm and 1x 14mm.

She said anything 16mm+ is ready to go. So I have 4 now that are ready for collection. She said the doctor will call me later to see if she wants me to trigger tonight or do one more morning of injections to let those other 2 catch up..

I’m not going to lie I felt really disheartened to hear I only had 4. I don’t want to trigger tonight.. I’d much rather wait until tomorrow to try and get some more eggs. This is such an emotional rollercoaster 😢 I’m scared that I’ll end up with nothing to transfer.

On the plus side she says I have the triple line pattern I’ve seen you guys talk about before, and my lining is 10mm. So that’s good. I’m just so scared that my EC is only going to yield 4-6.

Do they usually take out all the eggs..? Or just the bigger ones?

Bluehawaii29 · 12/02/2022 10:23

@xreadytoglow aww try to stay positive, they always say it’s quality over quantity. They take out all eggs as far as I know and then fertilised the nature ones so I think over 16mm ones yield the best fertilisation rates, ideally >18mm. Hope that helps x
