@Bluehawaii29 both the nurse and I thought it would 100% be a cancelled cycle so I stopped the meds immediately. I was patchless for about 24 hours :/

womaninkent · 11/02/2022 14:58

@Mountaingoat31 that's such good news, amazing. After the stress of that test this morning as well. I'm so pleased for you.

Bluehawaii29 · 11/02/2022 15:21

@CharlieBalf ooo I understand now, silly me, so hard to keep up on this thread. I’m glad your cycle wasn’t cancelled! That’s really good :) keeping everything crossed for you. My first scan is next week, did they say they want to wait till your lining is over 8mm to transfer? I’m still really struggling with the oestrogen side effects. Waiting for some advice from a nurse todayl, feel so awful

CharlieBalf · 11/02/2022 15:35

@Bluehawaii29 No, that's the point, the consultant is not waiting for the lining to reach 8mm she's going ahead at 7.5mm and I'm wondering if that's a good move? I trust her but why ask for 8 just to take 7,5? I know other clinics sometimes transfer at 6.5 so I guess 7,5 is ok?

womaninkent · 11/02/2022 15:35

Hi @CharlieBalf . I think you need to talk to your clinic about the missed medication. In my successful fresh cycle my lining was 7.9, and it was the same in my unsuccessful FET. I did have a Google to see what evidence there was that 8 was the magic number and I couldn't see much. This cycle they upped my oestrogen and I was just over 8 at the last scan before transfer. I don't know if anyone has success stories at less than 7.9?

Bluehawaii29 · 11/02/2022 15:40

Yeah I think over 8 is the gold standard. They shouldn’t just stop at 7.5mm. I know a lady from another thread who is pregnant now and her oestrogen was upped from 3 tablets to four tablets a day after her lining scan

crazycatlady1981 · 11/02/2022 16:14

@Mountaingoat31 brilliant news!! 💕 so happy for you!! Hope this one is your sticky bean!

NaomiNatNat · 11/02/2022 16:31

@thislittlebird 😂 made me chuckle with your 5 guys, I've been sleeping all day barely managed a sausage roll. I got 8 eggs, just waiting for feedback tomorrow morning. Well done on your 15!

CharlieBalf · 11/02/2022 16:45

@womaninkent @Bluehawaii29 and even more worried now. Can't talk to the clinic until Monday - Do you think I should cancel the cycle? Our consultant has a really good reputation, I'd like to think she knows what she's doing and after all clinics are judged on success rates- but I had a google and studies suggest that >8.6 yields the best results.

I'm already on 5 a day and a patch and they didn't increase my dose between scans which I did wonder at. There was discussion of trying a natural unmedicated cycle if this didn't work.

I have 5 5day embryos, all 2Bs from EC. The plan is to transfer one but does anyone think I should try 2 because the lining isn't thick enough?

thislittlebird · 11/02/2022 16:48

@NaomiNatNat yeah we get the call tomorrow too, not looking forward to it 🙃. I was really hungry lol, did a slow walk over there and I really did enjoy the milkshake, was so good!

Got to keep up the three litres of water per day and protein (apparently it’s good for ohss). I’m sending dh out for coconut water and lucozade sport soon to try to fend it off.

thislittlebird · 11/02/2022 16:49

@Mountaingoat31 great news!

Cayandsimit · 11/02/2022 17:01

@charliebalf I would listen to the consultant. Usually triple line pattern is more important and maybe they saw that on the scan. I heard from my own doctor + 2 consultants online that above 7 is good as long as you have a triple line.
Please watch this video on YouTube. He is referring to a study in Canada which included 1400 FETs. Apparently there is no significant difference between 8mm + above and 7-7.9 mm in pregnancy rates.

If the link doesn't work, please search for "You can have IVF success with a thin uterine lining" on YouTube. I like Infertility TV. It has a lot of videos about most of our worries.

CharlieBalf · 11/02/2022 17:13

@Cayandsimit this is really useful, thank you- the scan did show up what she termed 'good form' and I know some other clinics (from talking to people online) that other clinics only require 6.5mm.

This whole process is super stressful Confused

Cayandsimit · 11/02/2022 17:27

@charliebalf I know 😢 I wish I never had to learn all these info, never had to worry about my uterine lining or if the progesterone is high enough or the grading of the embryo is good or not... People who conceived naturally are so lucky and not even aware of it... They only need to go to regular scans and give birth, that is it...
Anyways, I hope you can relax for the rest of the evening 💐

womaninkent · 11/02/2022 18:29

@CharlieBalf I've been told so many different things about thickness that I've stopped worrying. If there was any clear evidence then I think the clinics would be more consistent in their approach.

ExhaustedPigeon1988 · 11/02/2022 20:07

Really struggling today! Been at work around a pregnant colleague, and pregnant customers! To top it all off I'm feeling really negative about this FET, 13 more days, and I just can't get into it, going through the motions, but just not able to put my heart into it like I have on previous rounds.

Really pleased for the EC todays, you have all done amazing, I was so scared when I done mine that I couldn't even focus on how many eggs or anything other than getting through the procedure lol.

Hoping for lots of BFPs on here, sending love and baby dust x

Bluehawaii29 · 11/02/2022 20:18

@ExhaustedPigeon1988 aww I’m having a crap week too, can’t seem to get in to the mindset for this FET either even though it is my first and I’ve just had one failed fresh but still can’t bat away the thoughts that it may not work again. Been doing mindful ivf and liked something the guy said about either you can feel hopeful and get a negative test and be devastated or you can just be negative and think it won’t work then when it doesn’t you’ll still be devastated. So I tried to make myself hopeful for this cycle but the tiredness and sluggishness is really getting me down. I work as a GP and couldn’t keep up today. Patients waiting over an hr and just felt like giving up. Luckily I’ve got next Friday off for my lining scan and then annual leave from 24th feb followed by 2 weeks remote working but just feels like a slog getting to that point and there’s always that little voice in the back of my head saying what makes you think this time will be different. Really hard isn’t it? Xx

Bluehawaii29 · 11/02/2022 20:21

@Cayandsimit I was told I have a triple line on one of my scans Before my fresh cycle and always wondered what significance that had. It’s interesting what you are saying regarding the articles that mention it and say thickness doesn’t have to be as much. Do you know what exactly it all means?

Bluehawaii29 · 11/02/2022 20:25

@CharlieBalf sorry I just saw your reply back, aww I know it must be so stressful all these decisions but I think your clinic must have some sort of reasoning. I don’t think you should risk 2 for the sake of the lining as it’s better to see how this one goes and then if need be they can address your concerns about lining thickness on your next cycle if it comes to that? I also had the whole debate about 2 vs 1 embryo for quite a while but was told the glue works equally whether it’s one or two embryos and no increases chances from doing 2 so just figured leave it at one this time. Aww I really hope you make some sense of it all soon and that your cycle doesn’t have to be cancelled due to this xx

CharlieBalf · 11/02/2022 20:30

@Bluehawaii29 it must be really tough working as a GP and having to go through IVF. And @ExhaustedPigeon1988 - anyone in our situation being around pregnant women is SO hard and almost no one understands. I had 6 years of dodging situations and conversations.

I start cyclogest tomorrow, any tips? I've been told to take the pessaries at 10am and 10pm ON THE DOT lol. Not 9, not 11, but 10.
Progesterone blood test on Wednesday and then the transfer next Thursday.

LuckyNovember · 11/02/2022 20:46

So, After my BFN this morning, I bumped into a girl I know at work. Visibly pregnant, (she's a great girl, im happy for her) she goes on to tell me - at length - about getting pregnant first try, FIRST TRY, how she'd been worried she'd need something like IVF being 40, but it was so smooth and quick, they're delighted (obviously!), and then she listed ALL the other colleagues who are pregnant on their WhatsApp group for pregnant people 😭
I've never had this kind of conversation in my life, and today of all days to start 🤦🏻‍♀️ couldn't make this stuff up, somehow I'm happy for her in her blissful ignorance, and it's so ridiculous you kind of have to see the funny side 😂 🍷 🍷🍷🍷🍷

ExhaustedPigeon1988 · 11/02/2022 20:50

@Bluehawaii29 I have been doing mindful ivf too, and that part really hit me too, it's very true, but it's hard to be hopeful isn't it. This is only our 3rd attempt, I know many have done more- I have so much respect For anyone doing 1 cycle but the ladies that have been through so many really deserve some credit!

@CharlieBalf I actually got on fine with cyclogest, and I done it at whatever time was best for me. I would do it when I got up for first wee in the morning then I would do one as I got into bed. I done them rectally, so no mess, don't think I even really got side effects from them. I have been out on 1 3 times a day this time, so not overly looking forward to middle of the day one, but it is what it is. You will be fine, they really aren't too bad. Crinone gel was MUCH worst x

Bluehawaii29 · 11/02/2022 20:55

@CharlieBalf yes it can be hard at times especially when I do baby checks or antenatal checks and the patient asks me if I have kids myself. I just have to say no not at the moment but just wish I didn’t have to be asked any personal qs. It’s a fine balance though between having the rapport with your patient and then not responding to personal qs.
@LuckyNovember I’m sorry to hear that this cycle didn’t go the way you wanted but it’s good you are making plans for your next try. Yes these things always seem to happen on the days you least feel ready for it. My big surprise was my cousin announcing her third child in a very insensitive kind of way on Monday but there we go, each to their own! We have just been dealt this hand but we can still make it happen and will be even more grateful when our special gift is here ❤️

Cayandsimit · 11/02/2022 20:57

@Bluehawaii29 all I know is that when you have min 7mm endometrial thickness with a triple-line at the time of ET, you have a higher chance for a successful implantation.

I found this on Wikipedia: "At the time of embryo transfer, it is favorable to have an endometrium of a thickness of between 7 and 14 mm with a triple-line configuration, which means that the endometrium contains a hyperechoic (usually displayed as light) line in the middle surrounded by two more hypoechoic (darker) lines. A triple-line endometrium reflects the separation of the stratum basalis and functionalis layers, and is also observed in the periovulatory period secondary to rising estradiol levels, and disappears after ovulation."

@ExhaustedPigeon1988 yes definitely so much respect for those that don’t give up, just have to keep that hope alive and remember why we are doing this and that the end result will be worth it Flowers
