Fingers crossed for you @Jazz234

LuckyNovember · 09/02/2022 15:08

@thislittlebird they asked us to do the same but we pushed back and he was able to do it on site;

I thought it was extra stress with public transport (we did ICSI and they would only decide when they checked he sample if it was ok if he'd have to have a surgical extraction, hence neither of us could drive), and we're just at the distance limit - it has to be at the clinic with max. 1 hour I think, and kept at body temperature all the way...

Having said that, one of his first samples was at home and we did get to the clinic on time with the sample in good condition, it on THE BIG DAY, it would have been a bot too stressful for me

NaomiNatNat · 09/02/2022 15:12

@LuckyNovember 🤭 I am looking forward to it! 🍷🍾

So did the final scan today before EC on Friday, my few follicles have grown quite well and there's 10 in total. Not expecting more than 4 eggs but hey it's better than nothing. Trigger shot at 9pm tonight 😁 getting a bit excited now.

Hope everyone's EC went well? How long did it take? Did you get stronger pain meds after the collection?

thislittlebird · 09/02/2022 15:26

@LuckyNovember that’s exactly our concern. Lucky we can do the journey in an hour if we get a cab to the station (they said up to three hours is fine???). I mean I guess it can last a little while anyway because they have to analyse it and that’s not always instant. But I don’t know how to transport it, ike you said, at the right temperature? We’re doing icsi.

Is this a COVID thing? I can’t get my head round why a clinic would be pushing against any samples on site.

@NaomiNatNat good luck, my trigger is 10.30!!!! Ten follicles is good, fingers crossed you get a few. What time is EC, 9am?

thislittlebird · 09/02/2022 15:27

I also have a bottle of red wine prepped for Friday/Saturday Wine 👀

thislittlebird · 09/02/2022 15:28

The other thing with samples is he has poor vitality as it is. I really do not need any more to die commuting between home and the clinic.

Gracie2021 · 09/02/2022 15:36

@thislittlebird our clinic has us produce at home and bring in. We're an hour and a half away. Instructions are to keep it warm in pocket or under arm. Like you it makes me very nervous but think with Covid they don't want productions on site. I think my OH prefers it this way tbh but yeah I do worry about quality after travel.

Great number @NaomiNatNat fingers crossed you get more than you expect.

Fingers crossed @Jazz234

womaninkent · 09/02/2022 15:42

@Jazz234 so exciting. I hope the line keeps getting darker for you.

LuckyNovember · 09/02/2022 15:45

@thislittlebird like @Gracie2021 said ; carry it by armpit (or cleavage!)

I suppose the good thing with ICSI is that they really only need as many good sperm as there are mature eggs!!! So the odds of them finding enough viable ones - even bumped around on the train - are pretty good 😊

And full disclosure, poor DH nearly let the side down on site, the pressure got to him, which might have gone a bit easier at home... thank goodness he got there eventually 🤦🏻‍♀️

thislittlebird · 09/02/2022 15:53

@Gracie2021 it’s hard because you want the best outcome and dying sperm isn’t reassuring :/

@LuckyNovember I’m going to wear a sports bra and stick it in there, I think. At least I’ll be reassured it’s not too cold.

I thought dh would be happy to do it at home too but he’s not, he wants to do it on site, he’s more concerned about the commute with it than the on site sample thing. Very annoying they don’t give you the option.

kennetrose · 09/02/2022 16:05

hope it's okay I'm jumping on this thread. I'm intermittently active on Mumsnet.

I'm on day 4 of stims and had my first monitoring scan this morning. I had an AFC of 20 at my baseline last week and I have fifteen growing this morning, 10 on the right and 5 on the left, I'm happy with this although a bit surprised the drop off was all on my left ovary. Still don't feel anything.

How many days did you all stim before EC? I have a job interview next Friday the 18th. I had a choice of dates and my doctor told me to go for this one and we'll aim for EC on the 19th, but I'm still really nervous it'll end up clashing.

thislittlebird · 09/02/2022 16:10

@kennetrose welcome! 15 is good, some might appear on your next scan which is what happened with me.

I’ve stimmed for 11 days. Day 12 is trigger, day 13 is EC.

thislittlebird · 09/02/2022 16:12

Sorry, I typed that wrong. Day 12 is trigger, day 14 is EC.

Mochii · 09/02/2022 16:23

@Cayandsimit I am also testing 22nd Feb, if I get that far!

kennetrose · 09/02/2022 16:28

@thislittlebird thanks! If I follow the same timeline that works out perfectly for an EC on the Saturday.

Hate that I've put myself in this position but didn't have a lot of choice unless I wanted to delay IVF! Which I did not.

Appleby11 · 09/02/2022 17:05

Can I ask what people's experience of the oestrogen tablets are? The amount of CM is awful 😂 is it normal? And having to have Dalacin on top before ET is not an enjoyable experience!

Justawannabemam · 09/02/2022 17:09

I'm back from my collection . Sorry I've forgot who tagged me.

So it went okay we got 7 . Which is 3 more than last time and they've been going longer. Say a prayer for me.
Find out tomorrow. She said if more that 1 fertilised transfer I'll be Monday otherwise it will be Saturday. Just as I'd changed my shifts to have Monday off and work Saturday. FFS it is what it is . My work know so they go with what ever.

Had a lovely deep 20 mins sleep , had a nice cup of tea. And we came home .

Well done everyone collecting today

Good luck with the trigger @NaomiNatNat. Those little beauties have grown hey! And just think an extra couple of days and the trigger. Did they tell you the sizes ?

Our clinic never mentioned doing sample at home. Not that we could have they are allowing partners on the ward.

I've to start on Lubion tonight and then twice a day after that. On injections which I think I'd prefer rather that the pessaries.

Early night for me. And then im gonna get back the gym for a few days before transfer .

LuckyNovember · 09/02/2022 17:10

@kennetrose that is an unfortunate extra stress to factor in! My original ivf schedule had my EC the day of an important work retreat the very first day of my new job; I was so ready to happily sacrifice my first impressions by calling in sick at the last minute "could be Covid" to actually get moving with the ivf process, so I think you took the absolutely right decision, well done you!

In case things change and EC falls on the Friday, I find it completely reasonable that you call and say you have an emergency to deal with and please reschedule.

(As it turned out my ovaries are not very disciplined so it took us ages to get started 🤦🏻‍♀️ I only stimmed for 9days in the end)

LuckyNovember · 09/02/2022 17:12

Well done @Justawannabemam seven is a great number!! Lucky number seven 🤞🏻🤞🏻

LuckyNovember · 09/02/2022 17:15

@Appleby11 ouch, what a combo 😂 when I took oestrogen pills/patch it was fine for me, my CM moment was really from day 7/8 stims when it was completely out of control!! Think I'd prefer that again to the utrogestan though 😬

Appleby11 · 09/02/2022 17:21

@LuckyNovember 😂 it's disgusting. What's utrogestan for? I've got the pessaries to start yet too 😳 I feel like I should be taking a change of underwear out with me 🙄😂

Cayandsimit · 09/02/2022 17:22

@Justawannabemam I will pray for you. Looking forward to hear the good news!

@mochii good luck with the EC on Friday. Hopefully you will also jump on the 2WW train 🤞

Cayandsimit · 09/02/2022 17:24

@Mochii sorry I meant ET x

Justawannabemam · 09/02/2022 17:26

@LuckyNovember we always used to say that cos my nans birthday was 7th we always say nans lucky 7 . Haha . I fkn hopeso

LuckyNovember · 09/02/2022 17:48

@Appleby11 utrogestan is progesterone pessaries I think (it's progesterone tablets inserted vaginally) and oh my, I have become the number 1 consumer of panty liners!!!

To mentally prepare in case of BFN, I've thought out some questions I need to ask, so that I can at least appear coherent and sensible; number 1 is "does it mean I can stop the utrogestan??"

That and the wine should take the edge off any bad news 🥲
