@ExhaustedPigeon1988 yeah the two months I was super strict I found so difficult and it causes me heaps of stress one weekend I was away and struggling to find things to eat! So I broke down and quit. But now I'm feeling bad about it so start clean eating tomorrow and hopefully it's not too late to do some good x

thislittlebird · 06/02/2022 19:10

@Justawannabemam I’ve had thrush since a couple of days after I started stims, the hormones can definitely cause it.

TheHopefulEgg · 06/02/2022 19:30

@ExhaustedPigeon1988 that was my clinician’s take on it. I think it’s about doing what I realistically can with nutritional changes and making sure my sleep is as good and stress is as low as can be. Main focus I’d supplements really. And nutritionist recommended some cheese and choc alternatives so I’m happy she’s taken my vices into account Grin

TheHopefulEgg · 06/02/2022 19:45

@HJen22 oh I hope my post didn’t cause any stress! Life happens and I think you need to give yourself some grace along the way. I won’t be giving my plan 100% because we have a few things coming up (meals out, days away) and I don’t believe the odd break will affect the outcome. The 80/20 rule springs to mind Smile

Sounds like you’ve taken great care of yourself pre-Christmas and all of that will have supported you. But I don’t think it’s ever too late to look after yourself. My nutritionist placed most emphasis on the stimming phase x

HJen22 · 06/02/2022 20:02

@TheHopefulEgg oh no not at all! I was already planning my detox and did an online shop for it all to come tomorrow, I've been saying for weeks I'll be healthy to try and shift a few lbs and cleanse to feel better for starting!

I think the plan I had from my nutritionist just really overwhelmed me and I wanted to stick to it 100%. But in turn it ended up just mentally exhausting me and I cried in a restaurant 😂 it also seemed so far away. But now IVF is getting closer I really do want to try and give myself the best chance by eating better. I've been using the "give yourself a break" saying a little too much recently though xx

Bluehawaii29 · 06/02/2022 20:26

@Sydney1986x hey yeah deffo heard more often of articles sayingFET can be more successful so let’s try and just focus on that Smile I’m using a day 5 embryo. Have 4 frozen at the moment but decided to just use one this time with embryo glue. What’s your plans now for the 7 you have frozen x

TheHopefulEgg · 06/02/2022 21:27

@HJen22 it’s a lot to take in, especially at a time when you’re trying to understanding the actual IVF process. And you’re not alone in crying over meals! I’m trying to go easy but that anxiety over planning is definitely creeping in again, hence the need for a little support. It’s good to know we’re not alone. How far away are you from starting? Wishing you all the best x

Bluehawaii29 · 06/02/2022 22:07

Can I just say what a great help I’m finding the support on here, I didn’t know about this when I was going through my first round and definitely could have benefitted from it back then, we can feel stronger together xx

Mochii · 06/02/2022 22:16

I agree, the support on here is great. I told people about my first round and the comments people say in ‘real life’ weren’t great. It’s much better hearing from people who are going through the same thing!

StillTrying10000 · 06/02/2022 23:17

Hello, I hope you are all doing well.
I'm due for my 4th transfer next week.
Does anyone have any views on having sex around the time of a frozen transfer. On Google there are some reports saying the semen in the woman's body can help success rates, but others saying the uterine contractions from sex can negatively impact transfer. So maybe sex before transfer is best? Have any of your clinics given any advice on this? x

womaninkent · 07/02/2022 07:10

@StillTrying10000 the notes from my clinic say no sex in the 2WW (I'm doing a FET). However they might not be specific to FET.
@Bluehawaii29 I agree the support on here is so important. Nobody who hasn't been through it really understands however much they mean well.

HJen22 · 07/02/2022 07:33

@TheHopefulEgg yes it's so easy to pile so much pressure on ourselves isn't it. I'm due to start norethisterone a week tomorrow with stims starting 1st March, you? Thank you, wishing you all the best too ❤️

And agree the support, advice and information on this thread is great. I am a bit behind you all with starting but it helps to read all of your experiences. X

Vslightlystressy · 07/02/2022 07:34

We had explicit instructions not to have sex in the 2WW - something about infection… though I found the whole transfer process so painful and the drugs so nauseous making that I didn’t feel that in the mood…

StillTrying10000 · 07/02/2022 07:56

@womaninkent and @Vslightlystressy thanks for the advice. No way am I in the mood I'm just desperately trying to find something that might make a difference this time so it's good to know it's not the advice they give xx

Bluehawaii29 · 07/02/2022 08:42

Morning everyone, it looks like af has come early this month. Had a bit of spotting on tissue paper just now. Really confused now, am I meant to start the meds or wait till full flow happens? x

Bluehawaii29 · 07/02/2022 08:56

I’ve taken my first dose now, looks like it is fresh red blood, wow didn’t expect it to come early! Booking my baseline scan in too x

womaninkent · 07/02/2022 09:15

@Bluehawaii29 I wouldn't worry too much, I ended up not starting my meds for a couple of days because the clinic were still deciding if I could go ahead this cycle. They weren't concerned about that.

womaninkent · 07/02/2022 09:16

@LuckyNovember how are you coping with the 2WW? Is your test day Sunday as well?

Bluehawaii29 · 07/02/2022 09:26

@womaninkent ok thanks, I’m still waiting for a call back from them but took the breakfast oestrogen tablet already now. Mouth already feeling dry, always hate the start of the cycle. It’s so up in the air. Just waiting on call back from nurses will let you know what they say x

Yognog1 · 07/02/2022 09:43

I’m on day 8 of stims and I have my first scan later today. I’m absolutely terrified. I’ve managed to convinced myself the meds aren’t working as I feel completely fine and I thought I’d at least feel a bit different (I did have a headache last week but it could have been going cold turkey on caffeine) I just have a terrible feeling it’s going to be bad news later, someone tell me this is normal to feel like this, I’ve really worked myself up for this one.

lucymills1234 · 07/02/2022 09:47

Hi all,

Quick one from me as I'm off for EC shortly! But wanted to say congrats to those with BFPs, that's great news! :)

Will catch up properly soon. I had another stims scan on Friday and they saw 15 follicles, a couple of them over 20mm and the majority 14mm+ so I am hoping for 12ish, ideally. I'm using donor sperm but my fertilisation rate has been really variable and so has the numbers of blasts so trying to take this one day at a time. But I think we all know how hard that is!

Lots of luck to anyone else with EC today!

Mountaingoat31 · 07/02/2022 09:50

My ‘2W’ test at home day was meant to be next Saturday (11dp5dt) but as they don’t dispense meds over the weekend and are minimally staffed I’ve been told to test a day early on Friday instead. Doubtful that will be conclusive. suffering from stomach cramp this morning which apparently means nothing according to dr google… how are others doing? I’m currently drinking one cup of weak coffee per day (have received zero nutritional advice beyond the very obvious stay off alcohol etc)

thislittlebird · 07/02/2022 09:58

@Justawannabemam are you having an appointment this morning? Can’t recall who else is.

It looks like EC will be Friday for me and my 10 follicles have turned into 19 🤪. The new ones are mostly small though so probably 12 at a decent size over 14mm (I think that’s what she said). I’m waiting to pick up a buserelin trigger and I also have ovitrelle at home, they’ll make a plan and let me know which to use. This is such a rollercoaster.

Janefx40 · 07/02/2022 10:00

Good luck for scan @Yognog1

@lucymills1234 good luck for EC. Hope it goes well

@Mountaingoat31 actually you should really be able to get a fairly accurate result 14dpo which is 9dt5dt but certainly the following day. My former clinic used to have their official test day as 10dp5dt so it should be fine to test then. Clinics wait longer for various reasons but 99.999 % of women would have a positive by that point so it should be fine. Best of luck. Cramping has always been a good sign for me xxx

Janefx40 · 07/02/2022 10:00

@thislittlebird great news about your follicles!
