If only there was more logic to the stats - I’m early 40s, high AMH and AFC, labelled as at high risk of OHSS. Translated into 6 eggs, 2 potentially viable at d5. It only takes one good one and a dose of luck. Wishing oodles of that for all of us…

Just finished scan, so I have 3 - 4 follicles! Basically this is what my consultant said I would have with my low amh levels. I know it's still early days but they are taking their time to grow. 1 at 12mm and the rest between 3 and 7mm.

Next scan on Monday, if they are still growing then they will keep me on stims for longer.
Does anyone know how much follicles grow in a day? Anyone been in my position?

@Mountaingoat31 it's funny isn't it? There really isn't much logic despite what they say. My high AMH and high AFC have been a theme throughout but clearly I don't have as many eggs as follicles. We may get >10 which is not what I expected and I'm guessing you didn't either? Don't get me wrong I'll be happy if we can get ten with the MFI thrown in but if this round is kaput at least I'll know I need higher doses on the next (private!) one. I did ask for lower doses because I was worried about OHSS, hopefully that won't prove to be an error.

@NaomiNatNat fingers crossed for your next scan. What day are you on? I think follicles grow around 1-2mm per day, I've definitely read about it online when I was doing ovulation induction.

@Dobcaty thanks for sharing your experience! Yes I had the same symptoms now still doing the down regulation. I'm still with buserlin... I hope your 2nd round will go well!! Definitely need to have a lot of courage to do this but we will be okay!!

@thislittlebird it was hard not to be disappointed, but you never know - as lots say, it’s quality more than quantity. I don’t know how all the ladies who’ve been through several+ rounds of this do it…

@Mountaingoat31 yeah I was conflicted but not that worried if they can get 10 out. The dumb thing is the doctor wanted to put me on high doses and I talked her out of that because I was very worried about OHSS! She wanted to do that because of my age. I do wonder if I should have let her and feel a bit stupid now but at the same time, back in May we spoke to a private consultant, and she stressed the key was getting a balance of quality and quantity with high AMH and I guess I’d rather have 10 potentially mature eggs than 20 crap ones.

I’m sorry your scan didn’t show the results you would have hoped for. If it gets cancelled then there’s no reason to think you won’t have a different outcome on a different protocol. Is this your first cycle? That’s often an experiment in how you react to the drugs in itself. Not much comfort financially I’m sorry but you’re definitely not alone. Sending best wishes x

@thislittlebird I'm on day 9. Was meant to do EC on Weds next week but I don't think they'll grow that fast 🤷🏼‍♀️ but who knows, will stay positive and pray for a miracle 😅

Just has my scan and the lining appears good. Transfer is scheduled for Friday. Just hope it survives the defrost as it’s only a CC grade

I'm in a bit of of similar situation. So ive got 1 at 16 and the rest are ranging from 13 down to 10 . So they are keeping me on stims for a few more days to let the others catch up.

I asked could it not be too late for the bigger ones and she said they grow around 1mm per day. And that would be fine. It means that for the transfer my partner can't be there. Although I don't think they are allowing partners on the ward at the minute. And we've just said we will go with what ever recommendation they give.

In thinking about it now on our 1st cycle they we're only around 11 mm so I can see why they are doing it. So try not to worry . The burselin is doings it job too and a few could grow in the meantime which is what you want.

I went for a celebratory growing 1 more follicle mcdonalds.

@Mochii I was really worried about mine surviving the defrost because it was only 2-3BB. It survived fine. They wouldn't freeze if they didn't see good potential to survive the defrost and some embryologists seem to be much harder markers than others.

@womaninkent thanks that’s really reassuring to know! I’m just hoping to get to the final stage of the 2WW at this stage and have the embryo put back in. Thinking about getting a positive test just feels too far off!

@womaninkent yes - managed to resist so far! Am symptom spotting like mad but don’t know what is the drugs (oestrogen tablets and progesterone pessaries) and what may be positive news… also just holding off possible bad news for as long as possible… don’t get me wrong but just appreciating a day of blissful ignorance if it is a negative… will be testing first thing (probably lots of tests!) so will update then 😀

@NaomiNatNat sounds like you're on the emotional rollercoaster too. Hope you're doing ok. Good that you're doing as consultant hoped but can understand being disappointed too. Hope you're doing ok x

@Justawannabemam I think they sacrifice the bigger follicle sometimes to give the smaller ones time to catch up but anything up to mid twenty mm can still be viable from what I've heard.

Interesting news this side. They've decided to give me til Monday and rescan and make the decision then so feet back into the heater and back onto the healthy food (we'll ignore that comfort oreo croissant earlier). Also it looks like there may have been a mix up in my clinic instructions and I potentially should have been on 450 gonal F instead of 225. Just waiting to hear back but if that's the case going to be equal parts frustrated that such a simple mistake may have cost us the cycle and relieved that we can maybe point the finger at something and say we'll that's the reason it all went pear shaped.

@gracie2021 really?! 🙄 Well if this cycle gets cancelled due to that, they better give you a refund for all the money you spent so far...

Did they increase the dosage you have to inject until Monday?

My clinic is officially rubbish! Was looking on my online clinic portal today and my next scan date wasn’t on there even though they told me at my last scan that it was next Friday at 2.45, so luckily i phoned up to query it and they hadn’t booked it on the system at all! 😡 If I hadn’t checked I would’ve turned up and not had an appointment when I got there!! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Gona have a protein heavy dinner tonight and get the hot water bottle out to get my follicles growing!! 😬

@Gracie2021 just seen your post about them potentially getting the dosage wrong!! That’s terrible! They really should compensate you if they’ve put you on the wrong meds! 😱

They do sound pants. Is the scan booked for the same day/time now? Didn’t you switch clinic too or did I dream that?

I hadn’t heard the hot water bottle thing, should I throw one of those into the mix too? I have acupuncture in the morning.

I have to say I can’t really fault Guys so far. Other than the blood test confusion the other day and having to re-do it they’ve been really good. Touch wood it continues. Egg collection is probably next Friday unless something crazy happens at Monday’s scan which seems unlikely.
