Anyone else here on Letrozole or Clomid for ovulation induction?

I'm on my 2nd cycle of Letrozole and looking for others in a similar situation.

Info about me:
26 y.o
Been TTC for just over 2 years.
Dosage: 5mg of Letrozole on days 3-7.
Diagnoses: Male factor (0% morphology), low AMH, low progesterone

I'm currently on CD10 and using OPKs to track for ovulation. I'll be taking a blood test on 7dpo to check if I ovulated.

Are you guys with private or NHS clinics? I'm so confused how some places do Metformin plus an ovulation induction drug, some only an ovulation drug. Some places do scans some don't. Some do bloods some don't. Some do a trigger some don't?!?!

Wackadoodle84 · 28/04/2022 19:57

@Rhianne18 I’m day 7 today, working all weekend so will prob cave and rest Monday morning which will be day 11 🙈

@TheDaydreamBelievers I’m based in Ireland so it’s probably different, my place scans but they also charge for every scan appointment so quite an expensive venture so far

Amz34 · 28/04/2022 20:06

Hi, im with a private clinic. I tried clomid for two months which didnt work. Then i moved on to letrozole this didnt help me to ovukate and so my dr out my dose up. Last month i finally uad my nhs app and thr dr asked me to tske metformin with my private medication and i finally ovulated. I havent conceived but for the next 3 months il be tsking 7.5mg of letrozole and 1500mg of metformin a day. Fingers crossed 🤞

Rhianne18 · 28/04/2022 21:27

@Amz34 glad that they have upped dose for you, keeping everything crossed that this works and this is your month!

Same as what I'm taking but i'm on 5g of letrozole.

Rhianne18 · 28/04/2022 21:58

@TheDaydreamBelievers I'm with a private clinic and I'm in sound east England. I'm not having monitoring scans just the metformin and Letrozole.

Rhianne18 · 28/04/2022 22:00

@Wackadoodle84 yes, if that was me I'd cave by then too! Keep us updated!

Did you try any medication before the trigger shots or did you go straight for the shots?

ttcisexhausting · 28/04/2022 22:07

@Wackadoodle84 thank you, i hope we all get a BFP this month! Are you having any symptoms? I'm symptom spotting - nausea, lower back pain and it's driving me crazy. The urge to test is insane

@TheDaydreamBelievers I'm with a private clinic too - every scan appointment is £££, they don't have any packages for ovulation induction. For the trigger they said you might need it, you might not so they don't trigger all patients but they do scan monitoring for everyone. I've heard most NHS places do bloods but not sure..

Amz34 · 28/04/2022 23:34

Thank you. I've gone way past the stage of hope. I just dont even allow myself to think it anymore. How long have you been trying?
Up until now my scans have been monitored because i hadnt ovulated. Now that i have im not going to be minitored. Though i might still ask for a blood test just to see if i am ovulating.

Wackadoodle84 · 29/04/2022 08:38

@Rhianne18 I was on 2.5mg letrozole day 2-6 which seemed to do the trick, I had 1 x19mm follicle on my day 11 scan. I used clomid 12 years ago and have twin girls as a result of that.

@ttcisexhausting no symptoms as such, had awful right lower abdo/groin pain yesterday which passed with in minutes. Other than that, absolutely nothing. Nausea sounds promising for you, have you any plans to test?

@Amz34 I had well given up hope when I conceived my girls many years ago. TTC can by very cruel. I think you should try for the blood test, it will at least give you some confirmation of ovulation. Are you planning to use opks?

Amz34 · 29/04/2022 09:38

I donuse them but my consultant said they arent reliable when i asked why i seemed to get a positive right about when i have one sided ovulation pain. Its so confusing as my body tells me i am ovulating yet my blood says orherwise.

I just read that you had twin girls on chlomid. How amazing. There is hope yet :) x

ttcisexhausting · 29/04/2022 14:18

@Wackadoodle84 the nausea could also be PMS symptom so not sure. Very tough to navigate myself because I'm hopeful obviously but also don't want be too hopeful so I don't end up disappointed. yes I plan to test Monday/Tuesday

So nice to hear that you had success with clomid. Gives us hope!

ttcisexhausting · 02/05/2022 09:10

Hello everyone! Just an update: I did a test and it was negative. AF is due tomorrow so let's see what happens. Hope you all are doing well :)

Wackadoodle84 · 02/05/2022 12:01

@ttcisexhausting sorry to hear of your BFP 😞. Fingers crossed AF stays away for you. How are you feeling?

11dpo today for me, tempted to do a frer but suspect it will be a bfn also. Had my covid booster during the week and still feeling the side effects of that also

Wackadoodle84 · 02/05/2022 12:23

Ok so went ahead with my frer and got an absolute squinted of a line. But, it was a frer early response was only 12 days ago so have a feeling it’s picking up residual hcg from that. Basically am no further on than if I didn’t test 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️. Will pick up some more frer during the week and plan to test again Friday morning if no AF by then

Wackadoodle84 · 02/05/2022 12:25

Not sure what happened but previous post seems to be missing words making it incoherent 😂. I’ll try again…

@Wackadoodle84 oh wow exciting!! I really really hope this is your BFP! Fingers crossed for you. I'm feeling alright - if AF doesn't show then I'll test again after a week. Distracting myself for the time being with some retail therapy 😄

I hope your booster side effects go away soon too. Best of luck for the next test! I hope it's a very clear dark BFP! xx

Wackadoodle84 · 02/05/2022 14:15

Thanks @ttcisexhausting enjoy the retail therapy. It never fails to cheer me up either 😂. Not going to buy any more tests until Thursday evening because I literally have no willpower if there is tests in the house during the 2ww

Rhianne18 · 02/05/2022 22:31

@ttcisexhausting sorry that you've got a BFN, hoping AF stays away for you 🤞🏼

@Wackadoodle84 I hope this is your month and your BFP sticks around 🤞🏼

I had a flashing smiley on CB OPK today on CD12, which is the earliest I've ever had, so looks like the Letrozole is working 🙌🏼

Wackadoodle84 · 03/05/2022 00:01

Fingers crossed @Rhianne18 that the letrozole is working, the positive opk is certainly reassuring 🤞 🤞 🤞

Wackadoodle84 · 05/05/2022 14:56

Got a BFN this morning and have that AF crampy feeling so suspect I am out for this month. I’d say my super squinter was the last of my trigger shot. Am distracting myself with some super cleaning here.

Hows all with you @Rhianne18 are you now in tww?

Hope all is good with you @ttcisexhausting and AF has kept away.

think I will collect my next prescription for letrozole and have it ready to go

acaciabluebell · 05/05/2022 16:42

Hi everyone! Sorry for the radio silence, I've been rooting for all of you ❤️

All 5 of my Letrozole cycles failed unfortunately 😔 Looks like IVF is our only hope but it's still a while away.

I tried doses of 2.5, 5 and 7.5mg. I have some leftover medication so I might try a 10mg cycle but honestly not sure as it seems like a lot. Has anyone done 10mg of Letrozole here?

OP posts:
ttcisexhausting · 05/05/2022 16:58

@Wackadoodle84 oh no, sorry to hear that..unfortunately for me AF arrived today in full flow - been cramping all day so feeling down. Will phone the clinic soon and discuss next steps - I have travel planned next month so won't be doing the next 2 cycles anyway so it's a break for me.. I hope the cleaning helps keep your mind distracted. Cleaning gives me lots of perspective usually...best of luck for the next cycle xx

@Rhianne18 I hope your 2WW is going well..

@acaciabluebell hello I'm sorry to hear about your cycles, has the doctor suggested 10mg of letrozole? You never know, this might be the dose that makes it happen! Good luck :)

TheDaydreamBelievers · 05/05/2022 17:35

@@acaciabluebell I wouldn't do it without doctor support but there are research papers showing safe use of letrozole up to 12.5mg. important to have care though in case it goes too far. When you say failed do you mean no ovulation or no Conception?

Rhianne18 · 05/05/2022 18:17

@Wackadoodle84 so sorry to hear you got a BFN, cleaning is always a good distraction and helps put your mind back in order I find too.

I haven't ovulated yet but I've had high readings, going to do another OPK in a minute and see what I get! The bloat is real though, I think it's due to the Metformin!

@ttcisexhausting sorry to hear AF has arrived! I have no idea regarding the 10g of letrozole, be careful though, don't want to over do it.

@acaciabluebell sorry to hear that you're cycles have failed, sending luck for your IVF.
