TTC with Letrozole/Clomid

Anyone else here on Letrozole or Clomid for ovulation induction?

I'm on my 2nd cycle of Letrozole and looking for others in a similar situation.

Info about me:
26 y.o
Been TTC for just over 2 years.
Dosage: 5mg of Letrozole on days 3-7.
Diagnoses: Male factor (0% morphology), low AMH, low progesterone

I'm currently on CD10 and using OPKs to track for ovulation. I'll be taking a blood test on 7dpo to check if I ovulated.

@ClubSandwich I’m so sorry I’m late responding! That is very true about the fluid it does usually rectify with ovulation and progesterone. So are you unmonitored this time? It’s so hard getting told mixed things! I hope you enjoyed your days away with work.

I’ve had the worst week to be honest 😞 I went last Monday for my AMH and follicle count scan. Tried not to over think it until the nurse told me I’m showing 3 clear signs of adenomyosis seen on my scan! She even pulled a pic off the wall of examples and mine matched them! I even had 2 black cystic areas in my actual lining!!! Like what the heck! I’d had my hyterscopy end of May which was apparently okay. Anyway I cried all week! The dr called us Friday but we was away in the lakes so we was just sat on a bench and couldn’t absorb the information. He did say he wasn’t concerned and If we start IVF in the new year it wouldn’t change my protocol but I’ve read you need down regulation for months before IVF with adeno to shrink it. It can’t be removed like endo else I’d just pay for a laproscopy seen as I’ve been on the waiting list since January. It’s making me think is this why I’ve not been getting pregnant naturally but I’ve zero symptoms of it and my periods aren’t painful or heavy. I just feel really down because it’s likely my miscarriage that caused it because of the Inflamation and infection. I’m also down because my period is trying to start today and just isn’t. Since being on the progesterone I’ve always gone from brown to red in the same day but not this month. My lining was thinking too - only 6mm at 5 days past ovulation and she couldn’t see if ovulated again! Sorry this is so much info. I just don’t even know what to do or how to close the door now. So many forums I read about spotting before period and the progesterone got them pregnant the first or second month and I’ve done 5 so that’s not the issue with me - I clearly have more issues .

@Loz2467 sorry to hear about that, I haven’t heard of it before but I can imagine you are worried and your head must be all over the place! Hopefully having a diagnosis might help in some way? Fingers crossed for some better news soon.

I have been unmonitored this cycle, I have literally just come on my period. Absolutely gutted but don’t really know why I expected anything else really. Another 26 day cycle. I’m wondering whether I should start my Letrozole on CD3 this time just to see if it makes a difference for my last medicated cycle? Consultant said day 2-6 but many people do take it CD3-7 too. God I feel so deflated

Im so sorry your period came - mine did too. I’m just getting half way through my next cycle: I didn’t take clomid this month or last month. I had a month left but couldn’t be bothered. Some weeks I’m okay ish and other weeks I’m rock bottom! Everyone of my friends are pregnant :(

The dr didn’t seem concerned with my scan and won’t down regulate me if we do IVF in January. I’ve just found out I can change my health insurance with work and get private surgery! After me being on this waiting list for the lap since January. I can’t help but think this brown spotting and lower AMH compared to my follicle count is linked with endo. Because endo is often seen with adeno. BUT the Dr has kinda said not to worry so much partner feels set with starting IVF in January whereas I feel like maybe I should have the surgery Jan then IVF. Or another option would be if 2 cycles fail for example then go for a lap. It’s frustrating because I have no endo symptoms. Literally just the brown spotting before my period.

Just thought I would jump on and see how everyone’s been getting on, just about to get caught up on messages.

Since I last commented I had my hycosy. Was so anxious I made myself sick with nerves but it came back all good thankfully, and the procedure itself wasn’t as bad as I had got myself worked up for!

I started letrozole. Headaches and tiredness was a struggle! Falling to sleep on the sofa, could have fallen to sleep at my desk at work too which is unlike me!! Took them at night so I like to think that helped relieve some symptoms that I might have experienced had I taken it in the day so hopefully that little tip helps someone.

My cycle is being reviewed all the way through. I had a couple of scans checking my follicles this week, right side was growing steadily. Was told to trigger yesterday. Wasn’t expecting that! Today getting blazing positives so this is it! Tomorrow start cyclogest which I am really not looking forward to so any tips welcome!

Hey I’m on unmonitored cycle too I don’t know when I’m ovulating I’ve had 3 cycles of letrezole then had a break but my periods have not come yet

Has anyone been on letrezole I’ve taken letrezole for 3 cycles then on 4th cycle I didn’t take anything I’m Still waiting for my periods I’ve got pcos do you think leterezole messes the cycle up?

Hey @Loz2467 sorry I haven’t replied for a while, I’ve been struggling and had my head in the sand! Christmas is a hard one for us so I’m willing december away. I came on my period yesterday too, another 26 day cycle and my last Letrozole cycle. We are seeing the consultant next week so will hopefully get an idea of what’s next, I assume it’s IVF. I’m eager to know how much it’s going to cost and when we will start.

@Sweet211 hey, I’ve just done 3 Letrozole cycles so I’m just starting a new cycle without it now, I’m not sure on the effects of cycles after taking it because I’m only CD2. Could it be your PCOS and late ovulation that means your period is delayed? Did you confirm ovulation? Hopefully you’ll get some answers soon

@ClubSandwich thanks for responding. I have no idea but my last period was 14th October and I didn’t take any letrezole as I didn’t have any left. How many tabs were you on? I’ve been through ivf I’ve had a successful frozen embryo I’ve got no embryos left.

@Sweet211 i was on 2.5mg, what about you? Have you spoken to your clinic about not having a bleed? Do they have any suggestions, or could they prescribe something to induce a bleed perhaps? What are your next steps, will you look to do another 3 months of Letrozole if your clinic allows?

Hi @ClubSandwich thanks for asking after me :) triggered, tested out the trigger, pretty sure I ovulated. Official test date in Friday but did a 6 day early first response test this morning and it’s negative. Will be back on the phone to the clinic Monday to book onto my next cycle of letrozole.

Let us know what’s next for you in your journey.

@Hedgehugs sorry it was negative but I hope that changes by Friday! How many cycles of Letrozole have you been recommended to try? I was hoping to try more than 3 months but I suppose the docs know better than me!

@ClubSandwich I’m on 5mg I didn’t respond with the 2.5mg they saw a follicle with the 5mg. They’ve prescribed me 3 cycles if it doesn’t work I have to ring the clinic,I don’t know about the bleed I’ll wait a little longer. Which clinic are you with?

me, 3 cycles. This was my first one. I seemed to ovulate so it works just not our month! The clinic had said after 3months they’ll move onto something else, I’ve heard of people being allowed 6 cycles though.

@ClubSandwich I’m with st Mary’s I don’t under stand why they don’t monitor they only monitored the first 2 cycles they saw a good sized follicle I wanted to know if I’m ovulating.
@Hedgehugs do you test with the ovulation test kits? What dose are you on? I’m currently fed up I’ve been through ivf I’ve conceived my LO just need a sibling. I don’t understand why they can’t give me a trigger shot or use progesterone during the cycle.

@ClubSandwich Sending hugs at this time of year. I know it must be difficult for you. It’s difficult for us as we announced on Xmas day 2 years ago! And we are no closer to having another baby. It’s so hard to fathom! What are your next steps now?

@Sweet211 I know the desperation for a sibling too and all my friends are pregnant or just had they’re second babies and I’m scared of feeling left out. It’s just so sad isn’t it. People think it’s another baby but it’s a sibling. What are your next steps now too?

@Hedgehugs how’s your cycle going? How did you find the cyclogest?

For me I’m literally in the process of getting everything ready to start IVF in January. But I’m feeling so worried because this brown spotting before my period can be a sure sign of endometriosis. I don’t have any other symptoms just that and not being able to get pregnant again. Can it suddenly start at the age of 35? I’m just worried to Throw so much at this emotionally and financially and then not have the best chances of I do have endo. Obviously the cyclogest has been stopping the brown spotting but still I haven’t got to the root cause of it. I spent most of yesterday crying and on google.

I’m just so worried what to do and if I should be having a laproscopy before.

Finally, as with all cases of unexplained infertility, when other treatments are unsuccessful fertility interventions can be administered to increase chances of pregnancy. It’s important to note that if the underlying endometriosis is left unresolved, meaning has not been treated by reducing inflammation or surgical removal of the lesions, IVF cycles have a lower probability of success.

@Loz2467 are you trying too for sibling for LO. Sos I’ve got mixed up with another loz on here. Is ivf Nhs funded? What has doctor said about laproscopy ? I’ve never had that done and I don’t even know how they do it. I’ll have to pay for my ivf treatment and worried about age too what if I don’t have eggs and I’ve got pcos. I’m Just so fed up. Wish it was easy to get pregnant.

Hey how’s everyone getting on? Guess what I thought letrezole messed up my cycles but I found out I’m pregnant yesturday it’s like day 75 of my cycle. It took me 4 cycles I’ve not had a scan yet I don’t want to end up with chemical pregnancy.
