*male doctor sorry. I found on the phone too after our follow up the male Dr was a lot gentler with his words than some of the previous calls I'd had about "less than double figures" success etc with female Drs

Hastohappe · 23/09/2022 17:50

Wow @hjen22 there are so many similarities there, the COVID yup the nurse I spoke to the second time had no idea you had to wait 7 weeks! And the female doctors yes they are very straight to the point and I get that’s a medical thing but cushion it a little bit please. They constantly went on about my age which really peed me off, considering this round I got double the eggs and got a AA top grade embryo. I think they just read off a rule book.

I asked about waiting times this week they said 3 - 4 months from initial tests, I think we may try and get an appointment next month, and take it from there. Totally agree about the Aberdeen monitoring clinic, makes it smoother. We did look at clinics abroad and in London but I just didn’t fancy all the travelling when going through treatment and the extra costs.

Kamiros · 23/09/2022 18:06

@HJen22 Congratulations, that's lovely news. Thanks, just need to see how this next ones goes - hopefully its the one.

HJen22 · 23/09/2022 18:13

@Hastohappe I know I don't think they realised how stressful it was given Covid. I isolated for weeks before the first round in fear I'd get it.

They really are and it hurts doesn't it. Some compassion please! That's awful they made a thing about your age too, so rude and not needed. Private clinics don't even have age cut offs at some places so they shouldn't discriminate. I understand they have criteria and a certain cash point but really they could be much more sensitive.

Ugh is it, that's annoying it's longer than when I asked when they said 2-3 months. I think It will just feel good to have a plan in place and something to work towards. It's hard being in the limbo stage, when was your second cycle?

That's the same as us, I'd like to make it logistically as stress free as possible, I'm not good with planning things at the best of times haha!

@Kamiros is this still part of your paid for plan in Spain? And the 5 embryos that they commit to? I hope you are ok ❤️ you've been through a lot and I so want you to have your happy ending xx

LT103 · 23/09/2022 18:14

@Kamiros my friend is at IB in Spain and she has used ultrasound direct or gri

wow @HJen22 congratulations!!!!!
i can’t fault gcrm. They have been amazing and the staff are just lovely. I had a call yesterday just to check we were coping ok in the 2ww and making sure we didn’t need anything or want to ask anything. They’ve made it all easier for us. But yeah I know everyone has a different experience and not everyone agrees. I don’t have much info on their satellite clinics tho. They do standard ivf but for transfer y less you have issues ovulating it will likely be a natural transfer as they prefer that. The lack of meds etc is great I’m not gonna lie!

LT103 · 23/09/2022 18:17

I still can’t believe Aberdeen do egg collection awake. They are the only clinic I’ve heard of that so that

HJen22 · 23/09/2022 18:20

@LT103 thank you ❤️ and congrats on being PUPO. I really hope this little one sticks 🥰 and I hope your recovery after your first transfer was as ok as it could have been. That's so nice that they called to see how you were. It's nice to hear good stories about GCRM. How are you feeling? I remember you did a natural transfer, it would be good to have less meds for sure.

HJen22 · 23/09/2022 18:22

@LT103 I know, first time wasn't so bad but second was very sore and I just cannot do that again. And all for absolutely no eggs. Perhaps it was sorer cos they were digging about but the whole thing was just awful. They came to tell me no eggs were collected and I just wanted out of there!

RMS0209 · 23/09/2022 18:50

Hastohappe · 23/09/2022 15:55

Hi @kamiros there is a clinic in Aberdeen

www.accessfertility.com/partner-clinics/tfp-gcrm-aberdeen-satellite-clinic/

They work with GCRm, not sure if they would be any quicker or not, I know a family member came from Inverness to get a scan here within a week

I don't rate the satellite clinic, didn't really get much help from them. Just told "phone GCRM"

LT103 · 23/09/2022 18:54

@HJen22 ive been up and down. My last transfer I had horrible cramps right from the start and I’ve had some cramping this time but joy the same so convincing myself it hasn’t worked. Then will get some pains and think maybe it has. I’m torn between wanting to test and not wanting this little 2ww bubble to be over.

my Mva was painful and horrible but after 2 days the bleeding had stopped and I was back to normal so I’m still glad I picked that route rather than medical. Just really hoping I don’t end up down the same path again.
the delay waiting on review consults and nurse consult and the fact we managed a holiday away definitely has helped! We felt ready to try again

when do you think you’ll try again?

Kamiros · 25/09/2022 17:17

@LT103 Thanks, I'll have a look.

@HJen22 Yes it's just continuing with the package, so we have 4 transfers left- ideally looking for 3 embryos from the next round so we have one further go if these don't work. We just have to pay for the donor sperm which in the grand scheme of things isn't a lot of money.

Looks like it'll be first week of December for next transfer, assuming we get embryos to transfer, with a double donor we'd better. Gives me some time to get a little weight off- the prednisolone really had an effect on me.

2mumlife · 25/09/2022 19:43

Hi everyone,

A belated message to let you know we had our little miracle on the 12th September. We had an 8lb7oz girly, unfortunately born my forceps at 5pm after I laboured with TENS machine, birth pool and gas and air from 10pm the night before. It’s been an incredibly overwhelming 2 weeks but have so much love for her.

Hope you’re all well x

LouScot · 27/09/2022 11:56

@LT103 that's great, hopefully when the blood results come back you'll be happier, it must be hard to allow yourself to be happy and excited but hopefully this is it for you xx

LT103 · 27/09/2022 12:59

My hcg is 243 today so I have an early scan booked for 17th!

Ros456 · 29/09/2022 18:03

Has anyone been successful in contacting the Glasgow Royal Infirmary clinic recently? The phone just rings out and they haven't responded to my email from last month 😥

Hopewishprayer · 29/09/2022 19:28

@2mumlife congratulations! Hope you are recovering well ❤️

@LT103 i hope all goes well for you 🤞🏻

I am a little confused at the moment, I am 8 days late on my period and was counting down the days so I can get booked in for next round. I had a failed cycle in Aug, I know it can take a while for your body to re adjust but this is my 3rd round and each time until now my cycle always comes back to being regular straight away (even with a MMC) I have tested just in case by some absolute miracle it’s happened naturally but it hasn’t.
do you think when my period eventually comes I will need to wait for another one to start again if this one’s been a bit out of the ordinary in terms of length?

Ellenn · 30/09/2022 10:51

@Ros456 Royal infirmary are so difficult to get hold of! Keep emailing them though and phoning and leaving voicemails and eventually they get back to you! It's rather frustrating but I think you just need to keep at it to get a response.

@Hopewishprayer I'm also waiting for my period to arrive so I can book in next month for transfer but I'm not convinced I have even ovulated yet and currently on day 30 after bleeding from the biochemical after my fresh transfer. My clinic told me just to phone on first day of period to book in and didn't mention anything about previous length of cycle etc so not sure it makes a difference? Do you think you ovulated normally? Wish our cycles would just behave themselves 😫
