Ok I typed one. Not wine 🤣

LouScot · 13/09/2022 14:55

@LT103 good luck with this FET x

RMS0209 · 13/09/2022 15:08

Well I survived egg collection!

How is everybody doing? What have I missed! X

LT103 · 13/09/2022 15:45

@RMS0209 how did it go? How are you feeling?

RMS0209 · 13/09/2022 15:51

@LT103 all good here! I survived so I'm delighted about that 😂 how are you doing? Just been reading and catching up. Day 1 numbers confirmed this morning looking good, roll on Thursday for next update and then weekend for hopefully freezing! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 x

LT103 · 13/09/2022 16:24

@RMS0209 are you freeze all or fresh transfer? We did freeze all in March. I actually quite liked the time between collection and transfer that I had for my body to return to normal!! We’re just on countdown to 2nd transfer now (1st we had a miscarriage). 4 days from now it will be done!! 😬

RMS0209 · 13/09/2022 16:29

@LT103
I have "signs" of PCOS so I was advised by GCRM to do a freeze all - so that's what I'm opting for ☺️ so hopefully after my withdrawal bleed and a period bleed it's time!
I can't wait for my body to be semi normal again... the bloating and the tenderness aren't the most fun (especially when I am trying on holiday clothes for next week 😂)

So sorry about miscarriage, but sending you ALL the luck for in 4 days!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻😊 x

LT103 · 13/09/2022 16:58

@RMS0209 im at GCRM too. I have high AMH so for similar reason had to do a low protocol and freeze all. They said better success rates that way and less risk of OHSS.
Will you have a natural transfer do you know? That’s what I’ve had and it’s odd having no medication at all when I read what others have but I’m just trusting them haha. Guess it did work last time it just didn’t stick.

RMS0209 · 13/09/2022 18:47

@LT103 yay GCRM sister! 😂

I'm all for the success rates so yeah let's hope - I'm very bloated today but hopefully in the next few days it goes down!&'
I don't know regards to transfer I have had no mention so I guess it'll be natural? How has the cycle been for you so far?
It'll work and stick this time.... I feel it 🤞🏻🤞🏻 x

LT103 · 13/09/2022 21:10

At gcrm so long as you cycle regularly they will do a natural transfer. So I’ve had bloods every 48hrs from cd10 to detect LH surge then booked in for transfer and will get an injection of ovitrelle on the day but no other meds. If you don’t cycle regularly they will do a medicated cycle.
i was so uncomfortable by time of egg collection and for a few days after! Hopefully it settles soon for you

RMS0209 · 13/09/2022 22:30

@LT103
Thank you so much for explaining to me, I really had no idea.. as you could tell! I have a regularish cycle (goes from between 32/40 days?) each cycle seems to get longer.. not fun!
But you've made it black and white - I appreciate that.

I am more uncomfortable today than I was yesterday and the bloating is real! I hope I don't develop OHSS that's all I need on top!

How you feeling about it all? X

Kamiros · 17/09/2022 18:58

Hi all. Just catching up today as I've been having a bit of a break. How is everyone? We had our review today. They think there might be an underlying male factor issue despite all of DHs results being really good. 2 proven donors and we're not getting many embryos so it does make sense. They want us to do a half and half fertilisation next time - DH and a sperm donor. If there's a difference in how they progress/ quality we'll know that's the case and we won't have to go another full cycle to try with a donor. Makes sense but we're just getting our heads round it. It's a little sad as would've been nice to have a biological link with one of us- but if it's that or nothing.....and we'll love it the same regardless.

LT103 · 18/09/2022 09:35

all good here so far. We had 2nd FET yesterday and everything went well. Natural cycle again so had injection ovitrelle on day but nothing else now. Just waiting for test day on 27th

LouScot · 18/09/2022 10:54

@LT103 good luck for the wait, not too long.

@Kamiros argh, you've had such a tough time, that's rubbish that there might be a sperm issue, it'll be tough to get your head around but you never know what might happen with your DH's sperm next round. I'm sure as you say you'll love the eventual wee baby regardless though x

Kamiros · 23/09/2022 12:40

Hi all. Just wondering if anyone knows anywhere else you can get private scans and bloods done in Scotland, other than GCGM.

We paid a collaboration fee with them for our first round with IVF Spain which was £1000 but we didn't realise it was per round not per package. I only need one scan and one blood test for this round so £1000 doesn't seem proportionate to me. I will probably still go with GCRM and pay as we go but just checking the options.

Scirocco · 23/09/2022 13:19

@Kamiros the GRI has a self-funding service, glasgowroyalfertilityclinic.co.uk/ - they might be able to help?

Kamiros · 23/09/2022 13:24

@scirocco Thanks, I'll have a look. Just want to see what's available as I wonder if GCRM will struggle to fit us in if we don't officially collaborate.

Hastohappe · 23/09/2022 15:55

Hi @kamiros there is a clinic in Aberdeen

www.accessfertility.com/partner-clinics/tfp-gcrm-aberdeen-satellite-clinic/

They work with GCRm, not sure if they would be any quicker or not, I know a family member came from Inverness to get a scan here within a week

Kamiros · 23/09/2022 16:32

@Hastohappe Thank you. I'll have a look at that. It'll be for late November and I should have the dates next week, it was more in case they're funny about my not paying the official collaboration fee- I'm probably worrying about nothing though

HJen22 · 23/09/2022 16:52

Hi ladies. It's been a long time since I've been on. We took a much needed break after our second and last NHS cycle in June. Went on holiday, lovely surprise we got engaged 💍 feel a lot better and ready to try again after some time away.

Back home now and after a few weeks or holiday and engagement celebrations we need to get private IVF planning. Thinking of doing a consultation with GCRM. I did look into Manchester too a little at the natural/natural modified protocols but that's maybe something to consider later, so hard to know what to do and where to go! A lot easier when NHS tell you when and how!

I'm so sorry to those who've not had success whilst I've been gone 😔 and congratulations to those who have ❤️

@Kamiros I'm sorry things still haven't worked out for you, I really hope the next round goes well. We've decided we're going to also go on the Aberdeen donor list whilst we try elsewhere xx

Hastohappe · 23/09/2022 17:02

@Kamiros I totally agree seems excessive for a blood test and a scan!

@hjen22 massive congrats thats’s amazing news 😍. We are also thinking of a round at GCRM Glasgow wouldn’t touch Aberdeen with a barge pole for private treatment, I totally agree it’s a mine field to know where to go for treatment 🤯

HJen22 · 23/09/2022 17:20

@Hastohappe thank you so much 😊 it was such a surprise and something good to come out of a not so great year so far!

Yeah Aberdeen didn't even give us the option for private just donor. We haven't went back to them yet to say put us on but will as I guess it's a good no cost back up.

How many rounds did you do at Aberdeen? We sadly didn't get to transfer either time, after the second and no eggs I knew we'd not be able to go any further with them.

Hastohappe · 23/09/2022 17:28

@hjen22 that’s lovely, totally something lovely to happen on this journey 😍

We did 2 at Aberdeen, first one today disaster they made mistakes, second round was better we got to embryo transfer but didn’t stick. I just don’t rate them at all, they are unorganised you have to remind them of treatment you are on or had for review. I had to complain about them, I know some people have had success with them but they treated us really badly and I feel they have cost us our chances on the NHS.

Hastohappe · 23/09/2022 17:29

Sorry not today “total”

HJen22 · 23/09/2022 17:39

@Hastohappe I'm so sorry you didn't have a good experience, it really just makes the whole thing worse and so much harder.

Staff wise and protocol wise we were ok but actual outcomes disastrous. And I did feel like I didn't get told much like how long you had to be clear of Covid as I got it between cycles and was worried. When I called they blasé told me it had to be 7 weeks and luckily it was just 7. But that sort of thing I felt they should have known to everyone. I did have to remind them to do bloods the first day I was there and they forgot to do my Covid test before first cycle and called me when we were just away to go home. I also found the make Dr a lot better than the female. And I do NOT want to do egg collection awake again. The second time was traumatic and I almost fainted when they took 4 attempts to get the cannula in. All in all not a memorable experience for the better!

Have you had a consultation with GCRM yet? I had some initial comms with them a few months ago but haven't gotten back to them to actually request a consultation yet. On the upside they have monitoring clinics in Aberdeen x
