IUI 2022

Anyone looking to pursue IUI treatment in the new year?

I'm currently on cycle 18 with unexplained infertility and waiting for my NHS IVF referral appointment in January. In the meantime DH and I are looking to do some IUI cycles privately while we wait.

I have my baseline scan and consultation with Create Fertility next week.

@Shrut89 thanks love 😘 How's your IUI cycle going so far?

hi @unCliche just finished with my letrozole yesterday hopefully IUI will be this weekend or early next week.

I had my nurse appointment for IVF as well which we will start on day 1 of my next periods which will be around 25th May if this IUI doesn’t work.

I will be on 75units of Menopur and 112unit puregon for first 4 days then they are adding orgalutran for next 5 days then trigger shot and egg retrieval ( no anesthesia) I am scared as well for egg retrieval, then FET, that will be my protocol. I am on low doses as I have high AMH.
are you going for PGT-A? I am so confused regarding it.

I am hoping this IUI works or else IVF injectable from May 25th well I am very very positive and let’s see what happens, left it to God.

Twittwoo2020 · 04/05/2022 22:36

@unCliche so thrilled for you that you’ve completed your transfer and got some embryos to freeze! Keeping everything crossed for you over the next week.

I had a consult earlier this week and they’re going to put me on long protocol starting on day 21 of my cycle to shut everything down for 3 weeks with a Prostap injection and then start sims, probably not looking to have egg collection until end of June at this stage, just seems so long away. I’m still waiting for my bleed after my failed IUI stopped meds last friday so not sure why it hasn’t come yet! I just keep thinking the longer my bleed takes to come the further it’s pushing my next cycle. After egg collection at the end of June they’re hoping to have a day 5 fresh transfer, i’ll be wishing the days away at this rate!

How is everyone else?

Shrut89 · 05/05/2022 01:07

Hi @Twittwoo2020 absolutely fine hun, my 3rd IUI will be this weekend or early next week, I already has my 1st IVF consultation and I have my protocol and calendar in hand.

unCliche · 05/05/2022 13:45

@Shrut89 Amazing! So you're literally 3 weeks away from starting IVF if this IUI cycle doesn't work out! It's really good that you can basically get started right away. I'm guessing you won't be down-regulating so you'll be doing the short protocol? I see you'll be on pretty low doses of stims! I hope you respond well on those but worst comes to worst, they can always increase your dose.

I surprisingly didn't respond as well as I thought I would, so even though I was predicting a FET cycle, I managed to do a fresh transfer, so maybe you won't overstimulate and then you can have a fresh transfer.

Whatever happens, you'll be fine! We're here to support you!

@Twittwoo2020 Thank you! Our bodies really know when to misbehave when we want something from them! I hope your period comes soon. Do you know what meds and dosages you'll be on?

unCliche · 05/05/2022 13:59

@Shrut89 also, regarding PGT-A, I didn't think of doing one, I'm 29 so just hoping for healthy embryos unless I'm given a reason to need one.

Twittwoo2020 · 05/05/2022 20:16

@unCliche I am going to get a prostap injection to shut everything down for 3 weeks on CD21 then 3 weeks later i’ll start stims and it’s rekovelle and luveris for up to 14 days although they said i might not need the full 14 days i’ll have 3 scans during that time, don’t know the dosages yet i haven’t picked up my prescription yet. My bleed came today thank god so at least i can just put my head down and move forward. Onwards and upwards as they say, hopefully things can only get better 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Shrut89 · 06/05/2022 00:19

Hi @unCliche my AMH is on higher side that’s why my doc put me on low dosage I will be having multiple rounds of ultrasound so dosage will be adjusted accordingly.
my doc said she will only do FET with one embryo only.
I am also not considering pgta, people say if you get a lot of embryos then go for testing or else just go for it. My doc said she will se on my day 1 if she wants me to put on birth control or else directly stims. Don’t know how the injection journey going to be for me. I am very scared and excited at same time. Married for 8 years now. My husband wanted a baby from long time but o was not ready mentally and when I made up my mind around Nov 2020 then this is happening.
but I guess I was prepared for it.

unCliche · 06/05/2022 15:28

@Twittwoo2020 Ooo don't think I've ever heard of those meds before but I guess they're specific to Ireland and other parts of Europe. I had 12 days of stims with trigger on day 14 😣 it was a toss up between triggering earlier and having like one mature egg or triggering later and impacting egg quality but I got where I needed to be in the end, so hopefully they get your dosage perfect so you don't need to stim for any longer than 14 days. Congrats on AF arriving! Are you taking any supplements or doing anything to prepare?

@Shrut89 I think you'll surprise yourself with how strong you'll be during the injection part of IVF 😊 I don't think anyone ever really thinks they'll struggle with infertility so you waiting until you were ready isn't a bad thing and at least you gave things a go and moved onto the next step very quickly. Be proud of yourself 💕

I'm 4dp5dt today and have a faint line on an IC, hoping it gets darker tomorrow. How's everyone else getting on?

Shrut89 · 06/05/2022 16:55

Hi @unCliche thanks for your words, Yayyyyyyy the faint line I can’t wait for it to get saddled for you 😊 all the best love 😊 all my prayers with you.

unCliche · 07/05/2022 13:50

Here's today's line.

@Shrut89 Thanks for all your well wishes, looks like they helped 😘

And good luck to everyone else taking that next step into IVF, it might seem really daunting but it's gotten me further than 20+ cycles of unprotected sex ever has 😂 first ever BFP!

@unCliche eeeek it's getting darker! How exciting!! So happy for you ☺️

I'm on day 13 today. Another scan this morning and insemination in the next few days 🤞

unCliche · 09/05/2022 17:48

Thanks @Nellie90 💕

Good luck with the insemination! You're probably watching your OPKs like a hawk! Do you feel better having an unmedicated cycle?

OP posts:
Nellie90 · 10/05/2022 08:55

@unCliche I am indeed!! 😁just had a positive on day 14 so need to call the clinic and book in the insemination.

Have you booked in for your early scan? 😍

unCliche · 10/05/2022 13:56

@Nellie90 Yay! Your TWW starts soon! I hope it goes speedily for you ❤️

@Shrut89 how did your insemination go?

I have my beta bloods tomorrow then I guess after that I can arrange my 6 week scan 😊

OP posts:
Nellie90 · 10/05/2022 14:41

@unCliche eeek it will be so exciting to get your 6 week scan booked in!

I've had my insemination booked in for tomorrow afternoon 🤞🤞. The wait is definitely that worst part. I've told myself I won't do 10 early pregnancy tests like I did last time but I'll see if I'm any stronger this time and wait 😂.

Shrut89 · 11/05/2022 19:35

Hi @unCliche you must be so excited for the scan yay!!! My insemination was day before yesterday ahhh the after wash numbers were not so great so I know in my head that we have to start for IVF end of this month as I get my periods. Everything is in place all the meds have been ordered already taken my injection class.
let’s see how it goes my husband is scared of injections but I am not 🤩

unCliche · 11/05/2022 22:18

@Nellie90 How did today's insemination go?? Did you find timing everything easy without having a trigger shot? Although I'm not sure if you used a trigger shot last time?

@Shrut89 Welcome to your TWW! Sorry about your post-wash numbers not being great, but you never know, it might work out. This whole TTC business can be so random sometimes. Wow, I'm impressed by how much you've arranged for your IVF cycle while in the middle of your IUI cycle, that's amazing! I'm sure you'll ace the IVF process if you need it.

Luckily your husband isn't the one getting injected then 😉

My hCG beta today (9dp5dt) is 176 🙂 So I'm done testing with HPTs and now looking forward to my scan on the 31st.

Many many congratulations @unCliche it so good to hear the good news in the group, I pray for all the ladies in here ❤️❤️ Cant wait for more success news in the group.
how was your egg retrieval experience did they give you anesthesia?
i won’t be getting anesthesia here in Canada it’s the protocol they will give numbing meds or heave pain killer meds.

unCliche · 12/05/2022 10:56

Thanks love @Shrut89 💕 Yes, I was sedated, and asleep throughout the procedure and then they put painkillers inside me so I didn't feel any pain for the first two days and after that the pain I felt was really mild. Hopefully the pain meds they give you are super strong as I'd hate to be awake through that process feeling everything!! Hows your TWW going?

OP posts:
Nellie90 · 12/05/2022 13:54

@unCliche thanks for your message.

My first round I had clomid and no trigger shot but as you know felt terrible on it! As I always ovulate they said to go for a natural cycle so went no meds this time and didn't have to trigger so just the 2ww for me now 😬insemination was fine thanks. They're so lovely at my clinic so had a good experience so far.
