I know I'm a bit early but knowing that I get to start in January I think I'll go mad just twiddling my thumbs until then.

With Christmas clinic closures I think there's a fair few of us around waiting for Jan to start, so hopefully we can gather here for support in the mean time?

About me - 33 years old (although I turn 34 in Jan!), TTC#1 for two years with unexplained infertility. Am due to start my first ever round of IVF in January (NHS). I've been told I'll do short protocol and in terms of next steps I've got a trial embryo transfer in two weeks' time, and both OH and I have to get blood tests done in Dec. I can order my meds from the pharmacy in Dec as well so got that to look forward to ha.

I'm currently predicted to start my cycle on the 31st of Dec which would mean having to wait a whole cycle due to the new year bank holiday getting in the way. My cycle can vary by a few days though so I'm really hoping CD1 actually comes a day or two later!

Sorry today doesn’t seem to be a good day. Take care @Dobcaty @Jennie154 @PcosSOS. Hope you all feel better soon Flowers @Aimz40 sorry once again to hear your news. I hope that you get some good news in the next few days!

@Janefx40 sorry to hear this, what makes you think it’s a chemical? x

Janefx40 · 27/01/2022 14:06

@Bluehawaii29 thanks. I did a clear but faint positive on FRER but negative on CB digital with weeks which has a threshold of 10. So my Hcg is probably 7 or 8 at 14dpo. I've not tested today because I've too much on at work. Spent all of yesterday crying in Zoom meetings with my camera off !!!

Plus it makes sense from how I have been feeling. I've done 4 previous transfers and have every type of result before.

@Gigi89x I'm afraid I've never taken Burserelin (except as a trigger) so don't know but I'm sure someone else will be able to help xxx

Bluehawaii29 · 27/01/2022 14:13

@Janefx40 aww I can imagine it must be hard not to compare with your previous transfer experiences but try to stay positive. Even just the faintest of lines might stay and take just longer to get darker. It’s not over yet! x

Hopeful199 · 27/01/2022 14:28

@Dobcaty @PcosSOS @Aimz40 @Jennie154 so sorry to hear about your tests. Really hope you are looking after yourselves and am sending hugs. Just such a shitty process sometimes 💐

@Gigi89x I have been on Buserelin for what feels like forever! I haven’t found them too bad. Some days they react but most days it’s fine. I find pinching flesh and aiming for a squishy bit helps!

@Justawannabemam glad it was all OK. Yes the lining should start thickening now but you have plenty of time so fingers crossed the bleeding stops soon. Even with bleeding my lining thickened up 2/3mm so I’m sure it will be OK x

Aimz40 · 27/01/2022 16:14

Thank you everyone for your kind messages, it does help a shitty situation feel a bit less like I'm on my own. I have a follow up consultation with a consultant on the 3rd February, so atleast I don't have to wait the usual 6-8 weeks. We were with the crm at Coventry hospital, they have a good reputation and I've heard that thru have got the best results in the country, I do feel like they have made some wrong decisions for us this time around, but I suppose that's just ivf, I am sure if money was not an issue I would keep going and eventually it would work. Unfortunately I've not got unlimited funds. Anyway me and my partner have been to the pub and had a drink (the first in about 6 months) and decided with the money refunded we would atleast do an iui cycle, I'm not ready to give up yet.

womaninkent · 27/01/2022 16:21

I had my scan today and they are going to do the FET if all is well next Wednesday. They told me the embryo is a 2-3BB whereas I had always thought it was a 3 BB. I'm a bit surprised they froze anything less than a 3-what do other peoples clinics do?

Cayandsimit · 27/01/2022 17:15

@aimz40 I am sorry that it didn't work out this round. But I am happy that you don't give up 💪 Enjoy a glass of wine for us and try to enjoy life until the next round 🌟

Janefx40 · 27/01/2022 17:18

@womaninkent great that you can go ahead. I'm never quite sure what the grades mean to be honest and I was once told that all clinics do things differently. Apparently my clinic never give As!!! I honestly don't think grades are that important. My DD was ungradeable as she wasn't even a blastocyst on day 5 and she's turned out just fine!! I know it's hard not to worry but fingers crossed for the little bean xxx

Mochii · 27/01/2022 17:32

So many shit updates today. Hope everyone who has had negative news is doing as well as they can be in the circumstances. Really hoping someone gets a sudden shock after their OTD test

Bluehawaii29 · 27/01/2022 17:36

@womaninkent hi there as far as I know my clinic like then to be 3 and above to freeze but sometimes they come out worse after the thawing so unsure really. The ones I have left are all BBs. 2x 3BB and 2x 4BB. But I don’t believe in grades anymore after a failed 5AA and been told often the lower grade ones do better so I’m sure it’ll be fine xx

NaomiNatNat · 27/01/2022 18:43

@Gigi89x I started Buserilin on 14th Jan. Was nervous the first time but definitely got easier and time will fly by so fast.

I pinch my skin on my tummy a bit below and away from my navel. It hurts a bit on my thighs so I avoid doing it there.

What dose are you on?

womaninkent · 27/01/2022 19:11

Thanks @Bluehawaii29 and @Janefx40. You're right.

Gigi89x · 27/01/2022 19:16

@NaomiNatNat thanks i will try pinching, i think i forgot that part!

Im on 0.5, how about you? Are you on stims now too?

heywhatswrongwitu · 27/01/2022 19:54

Thank you for the support. @Gigi89x I'm finding exactly the same, it's really sore - I used to have this great automatic pen but it doesn't work with my new needles, I'm hating them. Also on 0.5 but down to 0.25 when my period starts so can't wait!

NaomiNatNat · 27/01/2022 19:59

@Gigi89x I started with 0.5 and bled after 1 week. Now on 0.25 + ovaleap pen for stims. It's all happening so quickly. What protocol are you on? I'm on long/conventional.
Take your time with tomorrow's shot, deep breaths and it will be over before you know it. I'll be doing the same at 8am. Talk to your nurse for some tips too. Good luck xx

Gigi89x · 27/01/2022 20:06

@heywhatswrongwitu i bet you are pleased to go down to 0.25! , I'm hoping it gets easier! x

@NaomiNatNat thanks for the tips! Im on long protocol too x

Bluebonnet3 · 28/01/2022 00:31

I got good news from my PGS testing of my one frozen embryo: it's normal euploid!

My stims scan on Wed was fine, and clinic says i will do EC next Wed. I think that will make it 14 days of stims. My past 3 rounds were more like 12 days of stims. Maybe I'll need longer this time because of the duo-stim (back to back) protocol? I started cetrotide this morning (to prevent early ovulation). I also started my period Wed, so that seems a little weird (but the clinic said it's normal, and since we are doing freeze all, we don't need to bed concerned about the state of the lining.)

I'm not sure why I'm up so late tonight. I've been tired lately, I'm sure due to all the meds. I even ducked out of the last couple of hours of work (from home) today to take a nap. I haven't been keeping up with the thread for a few days so needed to go back a few pages to find where i left off. Sorry to hear some folks with bad news. Good luck to those in 2ww.

Bluehawaii29 · 28/01/2022 08:46

Good morning! Let’s hope today is a better day, just got confirmation that I’ve been excused from Jury service! Xx

Sydney1986x · 28/01/2022 09:12

Morning all just a quick update from me. This week has been pretty stressful I curiously contacted the clinic via email on Sunday about a smear test letter that I received and unfortunately even though my smear is not out of date until mid February the clinic did not want to take any risks and are demanding that I have a smear and that my results are normal before we get to transfer stage. We felt pretty devastated about this Particularly because the clinic haven’t even checked or asked in the lead up to starting IVF. This means that everything is now on hold until I can have my smear my period and then having a frozen embryo transfer, if our embryos make it that far.

I’ve had my second baseline scan today, There are 14 follicles, my left ovary is very slow but also swollen and has been causing me a great deal of pain. A collection will be Monday. Relieved that another part of this journey is done but scared and worried about if we get to transfer and how long that might take us.

Your messages about egg collection have really reassured me and I am looking forward to a great little sleep ha ha xx

Janefx40 · 28/01/2022 09:59

@Bluebonnet3 amazing news about your euploid! You must be so pleased.

@Bluehawaii29 that's great about jury service! Well done for fighting your case.

@Sydney1986x how frustrating about your smear. I think it might be worth fighting your case a bit more if you want a fresh transfer. As you said, your smear is in date and will be at transfer. I've never heard of a clinic changing a plan half way through like this. I get pain in my left ovary because it is positioned behind my uterus - so in IVF especially that puts extra pressure on the area - could it be something similar for you?

Xxx

Sydney1986x · 28/01/2022 10:16

@Janefx40 oh hey I think I remember you from the SI thread Flowers hope you’re ok? We’ve tried our best to fight it, the consultant didn’t even speak to us they got the nurse to deliver their decision, we are livid. I’m trying to arrange a private smear to speed things up.. you’re absolutely right about the left side, they mentioned today my ovary is essentially covering my uterus and it’s causing me the shooting pain down my leg and the need to pee every 10 mins! Xx

PcosSOS · 28/01/2022 11:25

Hi All,

Still a negative over here and at 13 days past EC I'd say there's no doubt at all anymore. I'm absolutely devastated after over 4 years of trying but I know we have other frozen embryos. Those who have done a frozen tranfer do they usually make you have a cycle in between or can you try the next month? My periods aren't super regular (2-6 days out each time) so I gather I'll have to do a medicated cycle. I've put off a lot of work out of London to cycle this month and so am working away pretty much 5 days a week from March - May, with the odd day here and there. So my very rambling questions is, do you usually need to go for regular scans doing a frozen cycle or is it more like a day here or there? I'm trying to work out if that's it for us until June or if there's any way to squeeze in a frozen cycle either straight away in Feb or one of the months I'm working away.

@Bluehawaii29 Great news about Jury service! Best of luck with this cycle.

@Sydney1986x Ah really sorry to hear that there's been a delay, hopefully you can get a smear privately asap. My left ovary was a killer too - apparently tucked glamorously behind my bowel - they informed me every time. Good luck with EC on Monday!

Bluehawaii29 · 28/01/2022 11:32

@PcosSOS thanks :) yes good news about your frozen embryos. You have to wait a cycle in between which is what I’m currently doing and then I can start the meds on 12th of next month. There’s fewer scans and they don’t check follicles, just lining thickness so the baseline scan usually they schedule within 10 days of period starting and then if lining is good that day transfer happens soon after otherwise may take a few more scans before they give the go ahead. I’m just doing an early scan towards end of my current cycle which is booked for next week just to make sure everything ok ahead of me starting my meds but that’s more just because of my anxiety about a polyp coming back! xx

PcosSOS · 28/01/2022 11:50

@Bluehawaii29 Ah ok, I thought that might be the case. Is it a cycle from when I come on after I stop Progesterone or would it be another bleed after that? I know they will tell me all this on Monday but I'm trying to put all of my grief from this cycle into working out a plan today. I think realistically that's us out until June as there's no way I can move the work again. Absolutely gutted to be honest.

Coops0406 · 28/01/2022 11:56

@Bluebonnet3 that is amazing news that your embryo was eupolid! Good luck with your next rounds!

@Aimz40 sorry to hear what a nightmare this has been. I hope you enjoyed your visit to you pub! 😍 And good on you for pushing on, good luck with your IUI.

@PcosSOS @Jennie154 @Dobcaty so sorry about your negative tests. Keep going, stay strong. Sending you all lots of baby dust for your next rounds and FETs.

I'm waiting for AF, but half hoping it doesn't come this weekend as we're on our way to the Lake District to stay in a cottage with a lovely hot tub! Then by the time we're back we should have a protocol for dummy run FET to do all the womb biopsies for the next cycle!

So much waiting and ups and downs, but we'll all get there 🤞🏾
