IVF/FET Jan/Feb 2022

I know I'm a bit early but knowing that I get to start in January I think I'll go mad just twiddling my thumbs until then.

With Christmas clinic closures I think there's a fair few of us around waiting for Jan to start, so hopefully we can gather here for support in the mean time?

About me - 33 years old (although I turn 34 in Jan!), TTC#1 for two years with unexplained infertility. Am due to start my first ever round of IVF in January (NHS). I've been told I'll do short protocol and in terms of next steps I've got a trial embryo transfer in two weeks' time, and both OH and I have to get blood tests done in Dec. I can order my meds from the pharmacy in Dec as well so got that to look forward to ha.

I'm currently predicted to start my cycle on the 31st of Dec which would mean having to wait a whole cycle due to the new year bank holiday getting in the way. My cycle can vary by a few days though so I'm really hoping CD1 actually comes a day or two later!

@PcosSOS aww I hope that its just that type of test and its not picked it up and that on OTD that u get positive result. Such a emotional time this process.

@Justawannabemam I seem to remember have a bit of bleeding again after the baseline scan, I think it’s probably normal as they’ve just poked around in there.

@Hopeful199 at my baseline scan I had 10/11 follicles, but then at my final scan on day 10 of stims, I had 4 good sized ones 17/18mm and 2 smaller ones at 15mm and 13mm. Then had EC four days later and got 5 eggs. So if you’ve got some little ones, there may still be time for them to catch up if you’re only on day 7/8 of stims! How many days of stims have you got planned in? I had 12 in the end.

@Frenchiepupmama All I remember about EC is getting on the bed, they swapped my face mask for an oxygen mask and the consultant told me he was giving me some lovely drugs and then I was out and woke up back in another room thinking that they hadn’t done anything at all!! 😬 It was slightly surreal!! But not scary at all and didn’t feel a thing!

@Mochii that’s terrible!! There must be something they can do if it’s just a form that needs filling in!! Surely you can do that and the baseline scan at same time?

@Mochii I am so sorry! I cannot believe that they did this!! I agree with Crazycatlady81. There must be something they can do... I mean we are not getting any younger. No one should loose 6 months because of a clinic's mistake!

Final news from the clinic - out of the seven eggs, one put back (a 5AA) and four frozen (two 5ABs, one 5BB and one 5BC) - just waiting now - am rubbish at waiting!

@NaomiNatNat completely normal. That's what the bursellin has meant to do . Now the stims will stimulate your ovaries to create follicles. Your doing great. Same days as me. Ouhhh hopefully we can be transfer buddies .x

@Justawannabemam Was looking at my ovaries on the scan they looked so empty, felt a bit sad But my EC has been moved forward to 9th Feb now oh would be great if we're on the same day! My 1st follicle scan is on 4th feb btw.
I see you're taking stims meds at night? I'm taking ovaleap was told to take mine before 11am daily

@crazycatlady1981 you're totally right, I can't change anything so just got to change my focus now

@Frenchiepupmama don't even think about that, just think about the wonderful sleep you will have. I still have no idea of what actually happens in the procedure!

@lucymills1234 good luck with the next round. I can completely understand keeping that one and trying to make some more. I hope it all goes well for you

@Aimz40 sorry to hear this. I hope that the ones they've got are good and go all the way. Hard to think about it like this, but it does only take one good one to take you all the way. I have everything crossed for you 🤞🏾

@PcosSOS how many days past transfer are you? Lots of people always advised me not to test early, but I know how hard it is to wait. Hopefully it's too early and a line starts to appear soon enough

@Mochii oh no! I can't believe they hadn't told you this before today! Also, why do you need a consultation to sign a form. Gutted for you

@NaomiNatNat I've had cysts on my ovaries in all treatments, each time a different one and different sizes. Only once did they delay my stims by a months as it was a large cyst from a previous cycle and they wanted to give it chance to go.

@Frenchiepupmama I had very little sedation with my EC and was chatting with the nurse throughout. It was all over very quickly and the Dr talked me through the process. I had a bit of gas and air and a small amount of fentanyl. I just felt like I’d had a couple of glasses of wine and felt no pain at all just a little discomfort.

@Vslightlystressy congrats those are great embryo gradings! When do you plan to first test? x

@Justawannabemam good that you're starting on time. Hopefully the bleeding is quite normal, but I have no experience of it.

Right now I feel like I won't be starting on time. GP had run some tests for me (I started talking about PCOS with him a couple of months ago and here we are now second set of tests in) and the admin person told me they're all fine except prolactin and thyroid which need to be reviewed by a doctor. Basically I'm not convinced this cycle will go ahead as scheduled if the thyroid is up the wall. I'm cutting it all very fine because I'm due to start my period and I also need to get through to the GP to speak about these results ASAP. I really don't understand why they don't repeat more of these tests initially for at least 3 months to get a better picture but hey ho.

Hi @Justawannabemam I had 2 bleeds

I had an initial one from down reg then 2 weeks later (2days before I started stims) I started bleeding again: it was light but went on for 5/6 days. I think it was due to all the hormone changes. I was scanned today and they weren’t worried at all and said the lining looks ok for where I am in the cycle.

My testing date is 5th February - it is going to be so hard not to cave and test sooner - I am already symptom spotting!

@PcosSOS Don't give up hope, maybe is a late implant on there 🤞 it's still 6 days to go!
my tests arrived this afternoon, but now I'm so scared to test as I had a night sweat and my boobs are not sensitive anymore which for me always the sign for af... but who knows, right?

I’m back 😂 they have allowed me to sign the form and I am taking Progynova as of tomorrow!

Hey ladies did trigger last nite but since I've got home from work really quite significant twinges at left ovary in particular, quite sharp but doesn't last.

Anyone else experienced that with the trigger? Hoping follicles at that side are OK

@Justawannabemam yes I carried on as planned and continued to bleed lightly for about the first 4 days of stims.

I had a scan today and the lining was 6mm and she seemed happy with that so so far it didnt cause a problem.

The nurses were lovely last week and just said that everyone reacts very differently and very individually to the drugs. I have endo and they could see hormone producing cysts in down reg so I think (but only from my own Dr Google research) that i may have bled when my oestrogen levels came down. She said its not uncommon though and happens for lots of reasons.

I would tell them and get them to take a look. I did have mt down reg extended initially though (4 weeks on total) to deal with the high hormones and cysts.

I have DD2.5 from a fresh transfer back in 2018, then was successful using FET last year but sadly we lost our baby when I was 5 months pregnant.
So now I'm doing another FET alongside lots of counselling and support. Started the buserelin yesterday and hoping my cycle starts in the next few days.

I couldn't wait longer and tested this morning...negative. I knew its going to be, I know my body very well, all of my weird af signs in here since yesterday (very dry skin, no sore bbs, bruising on my finger, weird right?!) trying to think I'm not a failure, but its hard. I had two put back and I couldn't keep neither one.
But thinking on the positive side we will have sex tonight, I am carving for it for weeks now, and celebrate DH big new job!!
I'll keep staying on this thread and hoping loads of BFP comes in the next couple of weeks! 🥰
