IVF/FET Jan/Feb 2022

I know I'm a bit early but knowing that I get to start in January I think I'll go mad just twiddling my thumbs until then.

With Christmas clinic closures I think there's a fair few of us around waiting for Jan to start, so hopefully we can gather here for support in the mean time?

About me - 33 years old (although I turn 34 in Jan!), TTC#1 for two years with unexplained infertility. Am due to start my first ever round of IVF in January (NHS). I've been told I'll do short protocol and in terms of next steps I've got a trial embryo transfer in two weeks' time, and both OH and I have to get blood tests done in Dec. I can order my meds from the pharmacy in Dec as well so got that to look forward to ha.

I'm currently predicted to start my cycle on the 31st of Dec which would mean having to wait a whole cycle due to the new year bank holiday getting in the way. My cycle can vary by a few days though so I'm really hoping CD1 actually comes a day or two later!

@Aimz40 heyy good luck for your EC! I hope you have a lovely sleep and relaxing day after it that’s great that your consultant isn’t too worried about that but I guess it’s nice when they tell you it’s not there anymore! I actually managed to get a scan earlier before my cycle starts as I told the consultant I just wanted to check on the lining again before I start the meds. Haven’t really had a check up scan since the last cycle in December so will hopefully reassure me everything is ok in there and ready to start round 2 x

@Coops0406 yes definitely a good plan to just focus on the next step rather than dwell on something you can’t change!

@Justawannabemam I’m 40 too, they are putting me on same dose of meds as last time even though we only got 5 eggs 🤷🏻‍♀️ My AMH was only 6 though so maybe they don’t expect more than that!

I dont think I've been told what my AMH is . Ahh well I'll put my trust in them. If they didn't think it was viable they wouldn't have me back.

@crazycatlady1981 what were your follicles numbers like in the lead up to collection? I just had another scan and on day 7/8 or stims I only have 6. 4 on one side and just 2 on the side with endo.

Just wondering if there is still time for more to grow and develop or if I am pinning my hopes on those?? Back on Friday then again Monday to see what happens.

Hey everyone, I'm starting freak out at the thought of EC.... 👀 Can anyone share their experience of it with me to ease my mind? Its the thought of a needle up their getting the follicles lol 👀

Thought I would join if I may. Not my first rodeo, sadly - this is my 4th round of ivf. I'm 42 and single. First round I had a fresh 5AA transfer, BFN. Second round was freeze-all due to high response and I got 5 blasts - 5AA FET BFN, 4AA FET chemical, 4AB FET BFN and one didn't survive the thaw. One more blast from that round (3AB I think) is still in the freezer. My third round I was due to have a fresh transfer of a 4BA that was my best embryo, but the clinic mistakenly transferred another blast that was in early stages instead (resulting in a huge amount of stress) so I missed my best shot from that round - at least the 4BA is in the freezer.

Obviously I don't know whether that best embryo might've been successful. With 43 fast approaching I've decided on another round rather than an FET of the 4BA. If it didn't work I'd have lost another few precious months when egg quality is fading fast. I'm on long protocol and finally start stims today. I usually respond well and get decent egg numbers (12, 17, 12 on previous three rounds) but it seems I am not getting euploids. The chemical means it's hopefully not an implantation issue.

Will catch up on everyone else's posts and hope everyone is coping ok. I wonder if anyone else gets told their lining thickness at the baseline scan? I was told mine is 3.5mm and they look for less than 4mm - but previously it has been about 2mm so I'm a bit worried. I thought I'd got to a point of taking treatment in my stride but a combination of this probably being my last go + previous clinic mistakes has left me feeling more anxious :(

Thank you everyone. I've just got home, they only got 2 eggs as the larger ones had turned cystic and the others were empty, I'm very disappointed, especially as I got 10 the first round and 11 the second. The consultant said that it can vary from cycle to cycle even with people that haven't got low amh, it's just one of those things. I'm not so sure, I feel like they should've done egg collection on Monday, but I can't change anything now.
I'm fully expecting them not to fertilise, never mind.

They take u into theatre and lay you down on the bed and strap your legs in, the anesthetist then puts the canular in and gives you some really nice drugs, then you go to sleep and they do their thing and you wake up back on the bay and they give you tea and biscuits and painkillers. I've got a bit of pain again this time, I was in a bad mood so refused the diclafenic, which was a mistake. I had Co- codamol though.

Hi @lucymills1234 welcome to the group, sorry to hear you’ve been through so much. I have had an unsuccessful round already with a 5AA and now having FET with 2 of my frozen ones next month. May I ask what age you were when you first started as I’m also worried about whether the other 4 are going to be euploid or not. I’m 34 going on to 35 and did my fresh cycle for the first time in nov 2021 x

@Aimz40 aww I’m so sorry it wasn’t the result you wanted, that’s so annoying they didnt do it on Monday. I remember you saying you two really good sized ones. Seems like these clinics are messing up a lot of peoples egg collections!

@Frenchiepupmama hi there I know how scary though of EC is. I couldn’t eat breakfast that morning even if I was allowed to. I was so nervous but as soon as the sedation went in was such a nice feeling and I fell asleep. I only remember waking up briefly towards the end and feeling a bit of prodding in my right ovary. I asked them to give me more drugs as I thought that the procedure had only just started but the consultant said it’s just finishing now and before I knew it I was in the recovery room having tea and biscuits you’ll be fine and good luck with your eggs! X

@Aimz40 Try not to lose hope. I only had 1 follicle and 1 egg collected which fertilised and had been transferred.

Ooof I just tested and a big stark white negative. I did it with an internet cheapie as the FRER hasn’t arrived yet but I’m conceived I’m out for this round now. This is such a rollercoaster isn’t it.

@PcosSOS I'm so sorry - I know it's horrible seeing that white test but you know what I'm going to say....it's still really early for you and an Internet cheapie may not be that sensitive. Plus if you took it mid morning it might not have been the most concentrated either. Sometimes it is easier to manage our expectations but I don't think you can be sure yet!

@PcosSOS sorry to hear that! When is your OtD. On my cycle I bled at 10 days post transfer so didn’t even get to test. You never know it may be early?

Unfortunately I am already out without even starting.

My clinic told me next steps were to book day 2, but they have back tracked and now told me I need another consultation, which means I’ve missed my cycle. It’s only to sign a form as well but as today is day 1 (I phoned to book my test as asked), I now can’t start, Due to personal commitments I can’t try again until September so I am devastated.

Oh no @Mochii can't you sign it when you go in for baseline? Or sign it today and go in on day 3? I'm so sorry. What a nightmare!

@Aimz40 aww I hope one of them fertilise for you. It's so unpredictable, I didn't realise how each cycle can be so different. Thanks so much on the info for the EC really appreciate it.

Start stims today . Well tonight.

I had a bleed last week . But then since I've been thru to the clinic I've started bleeding again. It's not period type blood but more red and not very thick. I'm hoping it's just cos he poked about yesterday and that it will stop soon

Did anyone else bleed whilst doing stims ? I don't know if to ring clinic incase they tell me I can't start . I'm sure someone on here said they had 2 bleeds ?

@lucymills1234 I can remember you from another page . I was wondering what you were going to do. Did the clinic take responsibility and have they given you and compensation for to have another go .

Done my down-reg scan today on day 13 of Buserilin and been told to start stims tomorrow. Got mixed feelings about the findings. My lining is thin, no follicles and a cyst on both ovaries(the cysts hv been there since last Jan) . Is it normal not to have follicles at this stage? Did anyone else continue treatment with cysts on their ovaries?
