FET November/ December

Hi,

I'm not sure if there is already a thread open for a FET in November / December.

I was due to have a FET last week however after having two lining scans, I tested positive for coronavirus 🙄. I should now be having a FET after my next bleed (mid November) and hopefully a FET early December. Would be great to chat you others on a similar timeline. X

Hi! Hope it's ok to join. Was relieved to find a group setup.

I'm due a FET end of November I expect. Just waiting for cycle to start this week.

I've had 2 successful transfers over the last 3 years with 2 little boys and we're hoping to add to the chaos. I'm working 3 days a week, and looking after the kids the rest of the week so I'm finding it really easy not to think about the process this time around... until midnight and then my mind is running crazy.

Hope you are all doing ok this week.

Novavee · 01/11/2021 17:56

@Lotusflower1990000 we follow my natural cycle and let my body do its thing.
I had my baseline scan today and my ovaries are still a bit swollen, but they said that's normal. My lining was at 4 or 4.5mm, can't remember exactly, which is what they wanted. I have another scan on Friday to check the lining and try to spot a dominant follicle. I should have a trigger over the weekend or some time next week depending on how the scan goes on Friday. That's basically my only medication, along with cyclogest for luteal support.
My consultant said there was no reason not to do it as naturally as possible with just the trigger to help time the transfer, so I'm enjoying my injection free evenings.
Gosh, that's a very long cycle, 6 weeks! I never down regulated, I was on the pill for a few months and straight to a short cycle, which already felt too long. Hopefully you'll be able to start soon. 🤞

Faerun · 01/11/2021 18:21

@Prayingforabubba My clinic seems to rate 6 day ones just as well though which is good. What are you transferring this time? We had the day 5 and two to watch on day 6 but only one made it - still happy to have something in the freezer!

@Lotusflower1990000 I think it’ll be same as last time (we’re using donor eggs so a fresh transfer is prepped like a fet) which was progynova from baseline scan around cd2, and then add cyclogest before transfer. Plus clexane this time. Took about 3 weeks from start to transfer. What are you getting?

Agapanthus13 · 01/11/2021 18:55

Can I ask- where do you guys typically get your info from? Any websites / books you recommend?

We’ve been in the ivf process for a good 18months now and I constantly feel on the back foot and have to google so many words in this forum Blush

Lotusflower1990000 · 02/11/2021 09:07

Hi @Sunshine300 congratulations on your 2 bubba’s how exciting to add to your family for my failed fresh I feel like I let it take over my life it was terrible so for my frozen I am fitting it in around my life instead I’m the same it’s in the evening I start to think about it. Are you on a medicated cycle? Xx

@Novavee i emailed my clinic today as I have really swollen ovaries too glad to hear this is normal The natural cycle sounds a lot kinder then the medicated cycle I’m definitely not looking forward to the injections again but I would do anything I needed just to get this positive! Good luck with your scan on Friday xxx

@Faerun I have to down reg on day 21 of my cycle for 2 weeks then if my ovaries have shut down I start progesterone and something else to thicken the lining then transfer after 3 weeks it feels so much longer as I am starting on day 21 rather then day 1 xxx

@Agapanthus13 I have learnt a lot from being on mumsnet and googling lol I recently ordered a book called it starts with an egg which was recommended but I find that it makes me overthink everything so I’ve put it down for now the baby centre is also a good website for learning xxx

Sunshine300 · 02/11/2021 10:12

@Lotusflower1990000
Yep medicated cycle. Been on noristerone last cycle until Sunday so waiting for period tomorrow/thurs I imagine to start certrotide and have baseline scan.
Glad to be off the noristerone - it always gives me headaches and nausea.
I def find it better to keep busy - especially after Transfer. Makes the time go quicker and stops the crazy googling of every little thing.

Agapanthus13 · 02/11/2021 12:16

Thanks @Lotusflower1990000 recommendations much appreciated. I agree, it’s so easy to get overwhelmed with info and end up worrying even more. Hope you’re finding your new approach is working for you! X

@Bb30 hope your scan went ok yesterday! X

Bb30 · 02/11/2021 12:45

Thanks all for the well wishes for my scan yesterday! I never joined one of these threads for my previous rounds and it's just great to see how lovely and supportive people are! Scan went great so now I'm just waiting for my period to arrive Smile

@Lotusflower1990000 I read "it starts with an egg" too and implemented many of its suggestions for my first round of icsi and it actually made my test results worse and i got no eggs at collection! Now I can't say it was fully down to that book obviously but I found I was so much happier when I just stopped worrying about all those recommendations. It's frightening how many things can impact your fertility but in reality, drug addicts and alcoholics can get pregnant so I'm not going to deprive myself of a chocolate bar! Anyway, hope the book didn't freak you out! I was like a crazy woman after reading it!

@Agapanthus13 I got most of my info from Facebook support groups or threads like this. When things went wrong with my cycles I would put a post up and get so much info back from women who experienced the same thing. It was so helpful!

FET2021 · 02/11/2021 12:46

Just trying to catch up!

@Agapanthus13 good luck 🍀😊
I've been told on this round I'll be having injections as well as the pessaries. I believe the ones I've been given are called Lubion.

They've told me to do injection midday, so going to be bit of a pain with work, but I'm hoping my partner will be able to do it and we can both take lunch and nip home and back to work in time!
Is the 11th Nov cd1 for you to start? I'm due around the 10th and start my meds on cd1, although because I have pco, my cycles are not normally bang on time and sometimes early or late. Hoping it won't be late!
Info I've just gradually picked up from all the forums I've been on over the years to be honest. Can be overwhelming, but you do tend to pick it up as you go along x

@Bb30 reassuring that you've been told about higher absorption. I had all pessaries for my last FET too. For this one, I have to have 2 pessaries and an injection
Hope your scan went well yesterday!

@XjustagirlX I also think it's a good time with the time off for Xmas. Obviously praying we will have success, but will give us time off work to process the news either way (even if it is a couple weeks after we should find out, we'll at least have a break). Don't feel guilty! It's shit that we all have to be on this journey and it's mentally and physically challenging. Of course put yourselves first. I always feel guilty about last minute appointments etc. with work, but it isn't our fault this is the route we have to take

@Prayingforabubba thank you. Keeping everything crossed 🤞🏼 good luck to you too 🍀😘

@Lotusflower1990000 after my ivf round, I couldn't do a transfer due to ohss, but I bled on cd20 (they called it a withdrawal bleed) and My next cycle lasted 52 days! I tried to look so much into posts of people having the same and a few said it had been delayed, but no where near as long as mine was delayed for so hopefully yours will show soon xxx

@Novavee sorry you had to delay. The waiting is the worst part!
Hope your scan on Friday goes well! Good luck 🍀

@Faerun sorry about your mmc, must've been really tough. Good luck for this FET 🍀

@Sunshine300 good luck! 🍀 hopefully you'll have a successful FET 😊 should be similar dates.

Agapanthus13 · 02/11/2021 17:29

Thanks @FET2021
It sounds like we’re on a similar protocol, I checked back over my notes and I have the pessaries for a few days before the transfer followed by jabs afterwards. Is that what you’ll be doing, or are yours combined? That’s a bit awkward having to take your injections at lunch time, poor you. Hope you manage to find a workable routine. It sounds like you’re reasonable close to your office at least, and some help with the jabs will certainly help I’m sure! Did your partner do them for you last time too? I might have to train my husband up 😂
I’m meant to start on cd1, which is predicted for 11th so the day after you!! But I also have pcso. When I had my egg collection I think the anxiety caused my period to be quite late! Have you had to have a scan or anything before starting? My first scan isn’t until cd10, but I keep reading of others having them at the start.

Aww so glad the scan went well @Bb30 and you can make a start soon. I’m really excited for you! Its lovely being part of a group for sounding queries / concerns. I didn’t join one when I did my egg collection, but having others to chat to for support is making a big difference this time round. I’m really sorry to hear you went through the whole process without collecting any eggs before, that must have been tough going.

Prayingforabubba · 02/11/2021 22:48

@Sunshine300 welcome to the group! I'm like you, after 8 sad thoughts enter my head 😩

@Faerun hoping my day 6 is a good strong embryo. I also have a 3day 8 cell that they will thaw and culture to day 5 so should be transferring that embryo if all goes to plan.

Currently just waiting for ovulation to happen so I can gauge when I will start my FET protocol. So much waiting all the time 😞

OP posts:
FET2021 · 03/11/2021 07:52

@Agapanthus13 it does sound like it's similar. When I need the progesterone, I have to have pessary in am and pm and injection in between.
My partner and I live quite close to both our workplaces so I'm hoping we'll have enough time to both go back so he can do it for me. I did all the injections for my iuis and ivf. Haha yeah, it is better when someone else does it.
No, my scan isn't until around then either. All I need before hand is a Covid swab. So I call on cd1 and they book me in for that and my next scan then.

@Prayingforabubba hope you won't be waiting much longer!! The suspense is the worst!

Novavee · 03/11/2021 16:47

@Lotusflower1990000 I completely understand that. As long as it gets us the result we want, I would do whatever needed. We'll see how this FET goes and if it doesn't work, we'll reevaluate before doing another transfer. I am missing the injections in a way. It gave me something to do, whereas now I don't have any control about any part of the process.
I'm sorry your ovaries are still swollen as well. I think it takes a while for them to go back to normal.

@Agapanthus13 i also went by mumsnet a lot and googling what didn't make sense. I've been lurking on other threads for a while, as it took me almost a year to get to this stage. I've never read it starts with the egg as I've read very mixed reviews, but many women swear by it. I think you need to do what works for you. I can't cope with very strict regimes but try to add some foods that are meant to be good for egg quality and lining. Although i'll never know what the result would be if I hadn't...

@Bb30 I'm glad your scan went well. Hopefully your period won't keep you waiting for long.

@FET2021 thanks. They checked my estrogen and progesterone levels and we are good to go. Next scan booked for Friday.

@Prayingforabubba I find that the waiting part is the worst in this entire process. Hopefully you won't have to wait much longer.

Lotusflower1990000 · 03/11/2021 18:48

@Sunshine300 definitely when I had my embryo transfer we heard McDonald’s fries help the stick lol this literally kept be going for that day our little treat. Glad to hear you are feeling better ❤️

@FET2021thanks for this I honestly thought something was wrong my clinic confirmed it was completely normal I still haven’t started my period and it’s day 34 I think by the time I start it will be my next cycle which is fine but I’m just so bloated and all over the place lol

@Bb30 so glad to hear you scan went well too And your just waiting on AF it’s so exciting! oh nooo I definitely am leaving the book in my drawers I honestly would feel crazy following the book ideas I do understand why it helps also but I don’t think it’s for me. Exactly! Lol not worth me giving up the chocolate xx

@Novavee exactly I think after the fresh the frozen injections will hopefully just be a breeze. We are the same if this fet does not work We will have to go through a fresh but I think I might have a break it takes such a toll on the body and mind. I know what you mean about the control waiting for my consultation was horrible after I felt so relieved knowing we had a new plan. I hope once AF arrives they go back to normal or normalish at least xx

FET2021 · 03/11/2021 18:50

@Novavee that's good news! 🤞🏼

@Lotusflower1990000 it's horrible just waiting and waiting. I hope it'll arrive soon 😘

Faerun · 03/11/2021 20:28

@Lotusflower1990000 That does feel long! Hopefully you don’t have to wait too long to start. It’s so annoying not having fixed dates!

@FET2021 Thank you. Not gonna lie, it was hard, but trying to look forward and be positive for this transfer - at least it’s worked once!

@Prayingforabubba Fingers crossed for the day 3 then - hopefully it’ll make a nice strong blast!

Just waiting here. Annoyingly I’m still testing a very faint positive so fingers crossed that’s gone by the time AF arrives so we can go this cycle - otherwise it’s wait til Jan / Feb.

FET2021 · 03/11/2021 21:32

@Faerun it's good you're looking at the positives. It's hard to do that on this journey. Wishing you the best 🍀🤞🏼

Lotusflower1990000 · 04/11/2021 13:43

Hey ladies just wanted to give you an update so my AF started today and I emailed the clinic and they have a space for me to start this month so I have a provisional transfer date of the 31s December! I’m so excited but so nervous at the same time baby dust to us all xxx

FET2021 · 04/11/2021 13:56

@Lotusflower1990000 amazing news!! Good luck 😘🍀 it is nerve wracking, but really good that you're all booked in 🤞🏼 xxx

My af also started today after a 28 day cycle, 6 days early! So that's positive news for me 😃 if anything, it's normally late, so I'm really pleased it's arrived! I have to start my tablets today and go to clinic for Covid swab. Then I assume they'll book me for my scan 🤞🏼

Lotusflower1990000 · 04/11/2021 14:03

@FET2021 awww great news you can start now🥰 there must something in the air! I hate the wait I feel so much better knowing it’s all booked and ready to go!

So exciting you are starting your tablets are you near your clinic? We are an hour away but it was the best clinic for its rates so we think it’s worth the travel for us xxx

FET2021 · 04/11/2021 14:06

@Lotusflower1990000 I know! So excited now that I can just start!
I hate the wait too! Definitely! Nice knowing the dates isn't it? Even if they're just estimates.
We're around 45 minutes away from ours so it's not too bad. I think it is worth the travel if you're happier with a specific clinic xxx

lauradxoxo · 04/11/2021 18:47

Hi @Lotusflower1990000 thank you so much for tagging me in this thread although I am so sorry as I’ve been so busy at work that’s me just noticed!!

Amazing news that’s your Fet getting started and you have a provisional transfer date!! When do you start down reg? I started Monday so far so good! My provisional transfer date is 6th December !

Good luck to all the ladies on here I can see a few who are on Similar timelines. Wishing us all the little Christmas miracles ! ❤️❤️❤️

lauradxoxo · 04/11/2021 18:50

@Novavee out of interest do you know what foods are meant to be good for lining? Xx

Twinmummy15 · 05/11/2021 09:05

Hi Everyone
So sorry I haven't been in touch. Just been unwell and still recovering.

Ive started my FET cycle a few days ago. I'm on Progynova 3 times a day and Aspirin.
I'll be going in for a lining check scan end of next week at which point they said they'll book me in for a ET accordingly. It all seems so quick!

@Lotusflower1990000 thanks I am OK. Feeling nervous now as I really want this to work. I did ask re the blood test and the nurse said that the home pregnancy tests sometimes don't pick up the hormone with frozen transfers and can give false negatives so they always do bloods for FETs.

@Prayingforabubba this is my first FET.
My first fresh cycle resulted in my twins, but we didn't get any to freeze. My second cycle for a sibling for the twins, fresh cycle transfer failed, but we got 4 frozen embabies. So in terms of experience, I can't give any tips unfortunately as it's the first time I'm experiencing a FET.

I have just stupidly read up on side effects (C word) of Progynova and its made me really anxious. Anyone know if that's for more prolonged use as appose to just short term?

Hope you're all well otherwise xx

Novavee · 05/11/2021 11:19

@Lotusflower1990000 great news you can start this cyle. So exciting!

@FET221 glad to hear you're starting now too. Hope all goes well with the swab and they book your first scan soon. It's interesting how all clinics are so different. I had a swab before my egg collection only. This time around we haven't discussed having a swab, they are just doing the screening questionnaires and I'm doing lateral flow tests twice a week.

@lauradxoxo honestly the majority were already part of my diet, others I've started eating more often and some I've just added. The majority of websites I've read recommend dark leavy greens such as broccoli, spinach and kale; wholegrains like as quinoa, cous cous; plenty of pulses, nuts and seeds; good fats such as avocado and olive oil and salmon. These I eat regularly anyway.

Some mention pineapple not only for implantation but also for lining, so I'm eating it more often. I was already eating brazil nuts before my IVF cycle and I've continued with that.

I've also seen pomegranate juice and beetroot recommended. I haven't found pomegranate juice in any supermarket near me so I'm still looking for that.

The other thing I've read about is bone broth, but I need to look a bit more into that, as the idea makes me a bit queasy.

My scan just now was a bit disappointing. I don't have a lead follicle yet and my lining is at 5mm. It all looks good and going in the right direction but they said it's going to be a long cycle again...
More scans next week, I'm just waiting to see the nurses to get them booked.
