@Welshpea oh what a pain in the arse, that sucks. so you have to have another consultation before you can proceed with a different plan? It’s all very tedious.

Ask about if you can do the natural/natural modified! I’m doing it in early/mid July all being well and they seem fine with it. I won’t be taking oestrogen, just progesterone at the end (natural modified).

thislittlebird · 12/06/2022 19:37

@Welshpea Oh and yes, super relaxing holiday! We had a cute private villa with our own pool which was ideal. Came crashing back down today when I realised I’d regained all the weight I’d lost in one week and had a nightmare trip back home from Heathrow but other than that!!!! it was a lovely break.

Verbena87 · 12/06/2022 20:59

oh @welshpea what a bugger! I’m meant to be transferring Tuesday but am freaking out because one of my ovaries was measuring a bit big on my lining scan. They did a load of bloods and said I’d not ovulated so start progesterone that night and transfer Tuesday, but I am just edgy about the possibility of ovulating as well, as I had really intense pain on one side yesterday. Got a call with the doctor to talk through tomorrow, which hopefully is just to explain and reassure.

With it being our last embryo I think I’m just mega paranoid and want everything looking perfect, but the last 2 cycles looked perfect and resulted in BFNs, and this time they’re basing things on more data with scan and bloods, so trying to be positive. Will be pissed off if we need to cancel as my beetroot/walnut/pomegranate juice consumption seems to have done its thing this time and my lining was 10mm. Seems too juicy to waste!

thislittlebird · 13/06/2022 13:13

@Verbena87 is it a medicated FET? I’ve not done one and when I do natural modified they have to check to make sure I’ve ovulated before the transfer. What’s the latest?

Verbena87 · 14/06/2022 21:07

Yeah medicated. Spoke to the doctor, all fine as I started progesterone the correct day. Even if I had ovulated after that it wouldn’t matter.

transferred today! Went really smoothly and it was so lovely to have my husband with me. Have had some cramps and slight spotting since but trying not to freak out and planning to just take it really easy for a couple of days.

Welshpea · 15/06/2022 16:22

@Verbena87 congrats on being PUPO!

Verbena87 · 15/06/2022 17:15

@Welshpea thank you! Trying my best not to freak out, still intermittent spotting this morning. Does seem to have stopped now. Every time, I forget how bloody terrifying this bit is!

thislittlebird · 16/06/2022 08:23

@Verbena87 great that you’ve done the transfer! Fingers crossed it’s all fine and you don’t need to worry, but I know it’s hard.

I didn’t realise husbands could come in, they don’t question it, he can just come when we do ours?

I still have a month until the transfer roughly, I’m finding that hard. Think I thought it would be quicker because we went on holiday but the problem was I got back and realised we could have been transferring the last few days but instead we have to wait a month still :/

Verbena87 · 16/06/2022 09:56

@thislittlebird thanks, trying to stay zen - failing 😂.

Yes they’ve changed the rules for partners really recently. It’s not all appointments: I think first consultation, egg collection, embryo transfer and early pregnancy scan only. Made such a difference though, I was amazed how much more real it felt and how much less emotionally vulnerable I felt having him there.

Hello all! Been reading through these threads and the information is so amazing. Hubby and I have our first consultation at ACU on Tuesday, feeling anxious not sure what to expect. This is our first encounter with IVF trying for our first baby. It’s all happened pretty quick, referral end of April and on 31st May they rang to book appointment in. Can anyone tell me what we should be expecting? And for anyone that has had a recent appointment, how long they have said the wait is for treatment?

thislittlebird · 20/06/2022 09:53

@Verbena87 hope you're still zen 😁

@L4ur4Loui5e84 welcome! good luck for Tuesday, if it's the same as mine it's probably a lot of forms and a transvaginal ultrasound. Have you had funding approved already? Sometimes there's a funding forms appointment too.

It's probably better now, but I waited from late August to late January to start, but I had a month's delay because of Christmas closure too.

Hello, in terms of my timeline, I had my first meeting at the beginning of April (funding all approved). We got the confirmation to start ahead in July but I have postponed to August to prepare my body etc. I am getting quite nervous but also excited about it!

Verbena87 · 22/06/2022 16:41

@thislittlebird definitely not zen. I am loopy on cyclogest anyway and have had quite a bit of spotting. With it being our last embryo it all just feels really high stakes, so struggling monstrously with anxiety and feeling numb. Test on Saturday. Want to puke every time I think about it.

@L4ur4Loui5e84 I’m no use on timelines I’m afraid because our initial stuff was in 2016 (and resulted in our son on the first transfer - hope you get similar beginners luck!).

WhiskeyInTheJar33 · 25/06/2022 09:29

Hi all. Hoping I can join? Just about to start the process at guys and feeling a bit nervous about it all. My first appointment is on Monday. @L4ur4Loui5e84 how did your appointment go? X

Welshpea · 25/06/2022 12:55

@Verbena87 Sending you so much baby dust - hope you got your positive !

@WhiskeyInTheJar33 @L4ur4Loui5e84

Welcome both! :)

@WhiskeyInTheJar33 I really have had a good experience with Guys - even though we haven't got our positive yet - they have been amazing

I'm back in on Tuesday for my consultant appointment to create plan of action for next transfer !

thislittlebird · 25/06/2022 14:09

@WhiskeyInTheJar33 welcome to the thread! I’ve also liked Guys so far. If my current embryos don’t work I have thought about using them for another round privately.

@Welshpea you get to go in person? That’s good, we got a call, on my birthday lol. I’m waiting for CD 1 now, just checked my app and it’s due in a few days. Not sure when exactly, I didn’t track ovulation this month.

Verbena87 · 25/06/2022 16:02

Negatives this morning, then vanishingly faint lines after the time to read them. Will do one more day of meds and double check tomorrow/Monday morning but pretty sure I’m out. Beyond gutted.

WhiskeyInTheJar33 · 25/06/2022 17:00

@thislittlebird @Welshpea it's good to know that you've found them good. I've heard lots of positive things about them so far. DP has azoospermia and we don't currently qualify for nhs funding but am going to request they apply for specialist commissioning from NHS England. Hoping they support us for this.

L4ur4Loui5e84 · 27/06/2022 08:30

@Welshpea thank you. It’s really helpful having somewhere to share experiences. Good luck for your appointment tomorrow!

@WhiskeyInTheJar33 my first appointment was good, they’re very thorough there! You sign a lot of consent forms for the first part. We saw a really lovely doctor (I imagine they’re all lovely ☺️) and he went through everything. We have already had our funding approved and had done all the initial tests so he was setting out the treatment plan. Said there’s up to a 3 month wait for treatment. I’m ok with that, I was more panicked when I thought I might be starting next cycle. I didn’t feel physically or mentally ready for that! So hopefully will be starting September cycle 🤞🏻 Good luck for today, let us know how you get on! X

Plantsandcoffee · 27/06/2022 15:40

Thought I'd jump on and post as I had my transfer on Saturday. Embryos were still a bit early to grade for freezing so to maximise my chances they put two in.

I had the phone call today to say the other two didn't make it which was upsetting. I'm hopeful that the two lost have no bearing/ are no reflection of the two transferred.

Rollercoaster of emotions already and it's only Monday. Going to be a long wait until testing.

Hope everyone else is doing ok and hello and welcome to the new guys xxx

Bubbafever · 27/06/2022 16:55

Best of luck Plantsandcoffee! Verbana87 - I am so sorry to hear that.

Whiskeyinthejar33 - you will be starting the month after me. I am hopefully starting end of August if all goes to plan.

For those who have undergone treatment already, are you generally on short protocol?

L4ur4Loui5e84 · 28/06/2022 10:58

@Bubbafever how flexible are the nurses around timing? So they told us up to a 3 month wait, which takes us to mid June but my cycle starts at beginning of the month and am quite keen to start in September not October

Welshpea · 28/06/2022 12:01

@Plantsandcoffee congrats on being double pupo!!

sending so much baby dust! i'm sorry about your other eggs

@L4ur4Loui5e84 they are normally really good - with mine they put me on the pill for two weeks to get it all started earlier so they are
understanding. it will just depend on when they call you to talk around cycle dates as drugs need to be delivered too

Had my consultant appointment and we are going back in to have a look ... hysteroscopy number 2 here i come. on the waiting list. He thinks there is still damage from my d and c 4 years ago 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Bubbafever yeah i was on short protocol :)

Welshpea · 28/06/2022 12:02

@Verbena87 i'm really sorry you didn't get your positive. Hope you're okay lovely 😘😘

WhiskeyInTheJar33 · 28/06/2022 19:08

@L4ur4Loui5e84 @Bubbafever thanks. Had our appointment yesterday with both a urologist and gynaecologist. Really helpful and impressed by the speed of things. DP was diagnosed with a varicocele several years ago and yesterday the urologist suggested embolisation to improve our chances with ICSI. Repeat ultrasound booked in for DP tomorrow and then embolisation within 6 weeks!
I have dermoid cysts on both ovaries and so far no one wants to do anything! gynaecologist wants them monitored to check the rate of growth and may try and get extra eggs to freeze when it comes to ivf because of the risk of torsion and potentially losing my ovaries. So although it's unlikely that we will start IVF before the end of the year, I'm very pleased so far!
