I think I'm a bit early on some of the other threads so starting one for October/November 😊

1st fresh cycle in august ended in CP.

Booked for follow up consultation 30th September so hopefully I'll be able to transfer late October early November 🤞🏼

5 frozen blasts. Hoping to transfer 2 this time round but I'm not sure they'll let me 😬

warning- period talk - tmi

Hey, so not planning on speaking to the clinic, but just wanting some reassurance that it's fairly normal....

Been on 0.5ml suprecur/buserelin since 19th October. Period started 27th October as expected, was fairly heavy although no cramping which is strange for me (wasn't complaining lol), only lasted 2 1/2 days. Then on 2nd November had a heavy bleed that lasted about an hour, I assumed that was everything. I have now woken up this morning to period pains and spotting. On my treatment plan it says to contact the nurses if I haven't had a bleed by 8/11/21. So you think 27th was my natural period and I am now going to start a forced period? What the hell is going on? Anyone have any help or ideas? X

paintfairy · 07/11/2021 08:03

@ExhaustedPigeon1988 absolutely no idea! But that doesn't sound standard either. I think I would call them tomorrow and just see what they say, to be sure? I only had one bleed and it was just like a normal period, so I can't really help.

Gensola · 07/11/2021 09:42

Hi all, I’d like to join if that’s ok? Not sure if I’m a bit behind the curve for this thread - I’m currently medicating towards a double FET on 15 Nov, I have my progress scan tomorrow for lining check.
I have had two fresh cycles at Oxford Fertility and three failed transfers so far (one fresh and two FET) - the fresh was of a grade 5AA expanding blast and resulted in a brief CP. the others just did nothing.
I’m a bit frustrated with the clinic as they won’t test for NK cells (the director of clinic doesn’t believe in them!) and also said no point in testing for thrombophilia disorders, they don’t seem very proactive at all. I worry it’s an immune issue and my body will just kill the last two embryos we have.
If this cycle doesn’t work we will go abroad to Czech Republic where I know they will prescribe both steroids and blood thinners.

strawberrysummer19 · 07/11/2021 10:05

Morning all

So I'm here at the clinic - my transfer time is at 11 and no call so assuming all is well?!

Had 4 fertilised on Tuesday so I'm hoping at least one is there - as last cycle didn't have any - well an early blast apparently but just waiting to find out sipping my water as my bladder is so awful!!

@paintfairy oh dear your experience doesn't sound nice at all. I'm hoping they are nice
EC they were so lovely - but transfer the nurse was quite hard and not understanding about my weak bladder at all!

Xx

ExhaustedPigeon1988 · 07/11/2021 10:13

Thanks @paintfairy I just really didnt want to contact them. But I think you maybe right, best to check before starting next meds I guess.

Welcome @Gensola I am also doing a double this FET, let's hope 2 is the lucky number ;-)

paintfairy · 07/11/2021 10:29

@ExhaustedPigeon1988 I hate contacting them too. But I think it's best to be sure in this instance.
@strawberrysummer19 good luck! I think I was more stressed about my bladder than anything else. 🤣 At my EC they were nice but yesterday I just didn't get the same vibe. No call must mean good news. Fingers crossed for you. 🤞
@Gensola welcome!

VenusStarr · 07/11/2021 10:43

Lots of love @strawberrysummer19 ❤️

I don't know @ExhaustedPigeon1988 I second calling the clinic just for peace of mind.

Congrats on being pupo @paintfairy @MrsC2018 🥳

@WightLady87 looking back my first symptom was a really dry mouth around 6/7dp5dt but I put it down to my extra progesterone and was convinced it was all over, but I've still got it now at 5+4, 🤞 for you

Best of luck for your FET @Gensola 🤞

Hope everyone is getting on OK x

MrsC2018 · 07/11/2021 10:59

@Gensola from my first egg collection I had a day 5 blast Fresh transfer that failed, followed by 2 single FETs of day 5 blast which also failed. Bloods showed no clotting issues after those 3 failures. Second egg collection only gave me a double day 3 fresh transfer that also failed, and then my third egg collection gave me a double day 1 Frozen transfer which thankfully worked. I guess my point is, they never found anything wrong with me for my repeated failures and then one embryo just worked out of the 7 that I'd transferred so far. The consultants and embryologists are very annoying at telling you that often they just don't know why some people get pregnant with poor embryos and others have very good quality embryos fail. I very much believed that there was something wrong with me either structurally or something to make me kill embryos. I transferred those last two not expecting them to work but so that I could get on with more testing before I invested in another fresh cycle with hopefully better quality embryos. I don't know what I believe now, but I'm back trying for a sibling so I must believe that it's just fluke - some work and some don't. It's pretty upsetting being a small minority of people that don't seem to get pregnant from a group of people that are already in a minority of people that don't get pregnant without intervention! But just be wary, clinics make a lot of money making you believe they can do something that others won't that will make IVF work for you. My personal experience is that some embryos work, and some don't

MrsC2018 · 07/11/2021 11:09

@strawberrysummer19 best of luck for the transfer today!

I've had a call from the embryologist to tell me that of the 5 embryos that fertilised on Tuesday, 2 were transferred yesterday and were good quality early blasts (day 4 transfer) and the remaining 3 today aren't great unfortunately. 2 are showing signs of degrading so will probably arrest before tomorrow and the 3rd is still a compacting 10 cell which is behind where it should be for day 5. They're going to leave all 3 until tomorrow to see if any are good enough to freeze but it doesn't look good. Bit gutted obviously but just need to remember that I was bloody lucky to have 2 good enough to transfer yesterday and they were happy with the quality of those at least.
Going to speak to the clinic in the follow up meeting after this cycle about whether they can do anything about my hidden ovary. Annoying that for the last 2 egg collections my chances have effectively been halved by those eggs being wasted. Anybody got any experience with a clinic being able to do anything with an ovary that's behind your uterus? Previously when my other ovary only had 2 eggs they have punctured through my uterus to get an egg off that ovary, but understandably they won't risk my health to do that if the accessible ovary produces more than 5 eggs

paintfairy · 07/11/2021 11:58

@MrsC2018 I've just had my call. Not amazing for me either, only 1 good enough to freeze. I was really hoping for 2 but I guess I should be thankful for any! I know they have to be good to freeze. So from an original collection of 12, I only had 2 decent ones also. But I'm pleased to have at least 1 back up, so we've had 2 chances at it. I don't think we will be able to do any more rounds.

MrsC2018 · 07/11/2021 13:01

@paintfairy congrats on the frostie! Yeah 2 weeks does feel like a long time for the test day! Mines the 20th which makes sense as mine was a D4 transfer. He's hoping this is a lucky month for us all, and having 2 goes with good quality embryos can't be a bad thing for you

strawberrysummer19 · 07/11/2021 14:50

Hi everyone

3 blasts, One TOP GRADE embryo transferred!!!!! So happy! To think we may have never got this far.

We find out tomorrow if one out of the 3 can be frozen but they said they will assess tomorrow and call me - but just happy to have one x

Holskey · 07/11/2021 16:19

@strawberrysummer19 congratulations on being pupo, and with a top quality embryo too! 😊 Fingers crossed for your remaining embryos.

@paintfairy @MrsC2018 sorry to hear your remaining embryos aren't doing as well as you'd like, but hopefully that just means the ones transferred were the right ones 🤞 @paintfairy the drop off is almost always brutal, but you have a whole other chance in the freezer so that's something 🙂

WightLady87 · 07/11/2021 16:52

@VenusStarr Oh that's interesting to know! Fingers crossed it's a good sign for me too. Other than that, I don't feel too different.

@strawberrysummer19 Congrats on being PUPO! I understand your disappointment but it's amazing you have embryos on board and another chance frozen too!

@MrsC2018 I don't know if it's quite the same but my right ovary was stuck behind my uterus due to endometriosis. I had surgery to unattach it and that helped. Although I still only got 4 eggs from both - but I dread to think what I'd have got otherwise as the right one was the healthy one!

Those that are PUPO, did you get photos of your embryos? I got an ultrasound of the transfer which doesn't show a lot but had my heart set on an actual photo of the blastocyst. Should I have asked specifically?!

lucymills1234 · 07/11/2021 17:33

Congrats @strawberrysummer19 on your transfer! That's amazing that you have got further than last time.

@paintfairy @MrsC2018 Sorry that the updates haven't been better for you, but everything crossed that your fresh transfers will be the ones. The drop off during IVF can be so savage.

@Gensola I remember you from threads earlier this year, hope you are doing ok? No offense, but wouldn't it be nice not to keep meeting under these circumstances?!

Just a quick one from me as I've had a crazy busy and stressful weekend because of a work project going majorly wrong... not the way I'd want to approach transfer day at all being strung out, tired, no exercise and not eating as healthily. But there's nothing much I can do about that now.

I got a day 4 call this morning and all of my 8 have moved on to morula stage, but 3 are poorer quality. So I really hope there'll be something for me to transfer tomorrow. After 4 failed transfers I feel a bit jaded as I know that even the best quality blasts haven't worked for me - but at the same time realise I have to be in it to have a chance....

Gensola · 07/11/2021 17:39

@MrsC2018 thank you for taking the time to write to me with your story - it does actually really give me hope, I am so worried there is something wrong with me, but the director of the clinic who is extremely eminent has been very dismissive of NK cells and immunology etc.
All I can do is hope that one of the two embryos going back next week is the one!

Gensola · 07/11/2021 17:40

@lucymills1234 I remember you too 💕 sorry you’re still going through this. I’ve now had three fails, one of which was a 5AA so feeling similarly disheartened.

MrsC2018 · 07/11/2021 17:56

@WightLady87 ahh that's interesting. I've always wondered if I had endometriosis due to my periods. Also potentially explains why the ovary was fine in August 2018 and March 2019 and then hidden in August 2019 and remains hidden I guess. I'll see what the consultant says when I have the follow up if this cycle fails to see if they'll be able to do anything. Otherwise, this cycle has been fab - can't fault anything but my shy ovary 🙄
I have sometimes got a scan picture type thing from some transfers - not the one that worked of course! This cycle the embryologist said he'd send me a video of the embryos that they've transferred developing which I've not had that before - don't know if your embryologist could give you something like that?

@Gensola and @lucymills1234 it's very hard not to get jaded and down, but each of those that get to transfer is a possibility.
I name the embryos whilst I'm waiting in the corridor for them to be transferred - my daughters embryo name is Isolde (not her actual name!) and I had Arthur and Martha transferred yesterday. My husband obviously thinks I'm mental, but the embryos all mean something to me and I want to remember them as the possibility they were.

paintfairy · 07/11/2021 17:59

@strawberrysummer19 brilliant news! I'm glad it went well.
@Holskey the drop off rate really is bad. My acupuncture lady said you tend to get better quality if you only have a few eggs, rather than more. And the drop off rate improves.
@WightLady87 I got 2 photos yes. Didn't have to ask.
@lucymills1234 🤞 for tomorrow! It sounds promising.

@paintfairy how lovely 😊 such a nice feeling being pupo isn't it x

Hope you are looking after yourself

My fiancé won't let me get up since we got home- we stayed overnight in a hotel as we didn't want to risk being late - since being in he's unpacked, made me dinner and I've got to rest hahaha
I've said I don't have to have rest like that and he said he knows he just wants to do it whilst we can ( works long days ) so happy with that treatment tonight!!

X

paintfairy · 07/11/2021 18:16

@strawberrysummer19 🤣 I ended up dragging a mattress down the stairs. I know you aren't meant to heavy lift but I have horses so it's impossible for me. So I figured anything I was used to was ok. As long as I don't go overboard or strain myself. My DH has been busy removing plaster from walls all weekend so there was no peace here! And he didn't have time to help me either. I feel ok though. I actually found the ivf better than iui. They way they do that makes you cramp as they do it because they don't look where they are putting it.

strawberrysummer19 · 07/11/2021 19:27

@paintfairy @paintfairy you just have to get on with it don't you, and ahhh you have horses - I'm very jealous!!

Oh really? That's interesting - I was getting some cramps tonight and had to google it as forgot what after transfer feels like but it says it's normal xx

Holskey · 07/11/2021 19:32

Your picture is lovely @paintfairy. I really hope it's the first photo of many for that little embryo.

@WightLady87 I was allowed to take a photo of my embryo on a TV screen just before it was transferred. Not at all the same quality as paintfairy's though.

@MrsC2018 that's exactly how I see my embryos - little possibilities. I have no chance at all without IVF so it's nice to be in with a shot. I'm attached to them all for their possible potential.

@strawberrysummer19 I'm glad you're being well-cared for! I had to remind my partner that, no, I can't take the heavy bin out 😂

@lucymills1234 that sounds like a promising update! Fingers crossed for tomorrow and beyond 🤞

@Gensola I'm sorry your clinic isn't carrying out all the investigations you'd like. Hopefully your transfer will work and it will become irrelevant 🤞

paintfairy · 07/11/2021 19:32

@strawberrysummer19 you get cramps with iui when they do it. A bit like a hsg? Sharp. As opposed to after. I suppose I did feel a bit delicate yesterday but no major cramps or anything. Nothing today. I did have some tonight but can't actually decide if that's just bloating.
Yeah I think you do have to get on with it to extent. I mean, I'm not about to take up running or going to the gym. 🤣 But I think sensible things that are part of daily life must be ok? Else how does anyone get pregnant?! There's no one else to do the horses be it now, or in 2 months if it works. So there's not much I can do about it.
