Thank you @BlueSilver23 it is always nice to hear a success story. Fingers crossed I get that lucky too.

Good luck with your TTC journey!

Ladybug06 · 01/12/2021 19:36

@lucymills1234 you kindly recommended this thread to me a while ago but I haven’t been active until now but wanted to thank you x

Doing my first IVF cycle at 43 & feeling stressed & deflated as my scan today showed only 2 follicles on my right ovary (possibly a third but it’s small) & no idea about the left ovary as it was hiding & couldn’t get the probe in the right place to see.
Disappointed as my initial scan in August showed a follicle count of 10 & my right ovary was the dominant one so feeling anxious.
Egg collection will be on Friday.
If anyone has any tips on what to do after egg collection that would be great

Hello I'm 40 recently diagnosed with endo and just starting the ivf journey so in the same boat
99pctpractice · 03/12/2021 13:14

hello @Ladybug06 sorry to hear you're concerned about your follicle count. i have a dominant right ovary / hard to find left ovary as well! totally appreciate how stressful it is, but hopefully the follicles you have will produce amazing eggs. and with me they have always been able to get better access to my left ovary when i'm sedated during egg collection because i think they feel a bit more free to move things around, so hopefully they'll find some follicles there too. i hope your egg collection today goes well!!

not much wisdom on what to do after egg collection, other than relaxing with a hot water bottle and a good boxset!! i felt pretty bumped and bruised after it. then try to have as many things as possible to distract you for the next few days while you wait to hear the next developments!! are you planning on a fresh transfer? wishing you lots of luck!!

LouScot · 03/12/2021 14:37

hi @Ladybug06 hope egg collection went well. I'm the same age as you :-) I've had 2 egg collections before to freeze eggs (didn't get many) a few years ago, and am going to do a fresh cycle soon with donor sperm.
The main thing I'd say is be kind to yourself today. I felt really down afterwards and had a bit of a cry, so rest, sleep, do whatever you want to look after yourself. I also had some constipation issues - apparently its not uncommon - so bear that in mind if you're feeling a bit grotty :-) x

Hopeful199 · 04/12/2021 11:19

Can anyone explain the ‘full cycle’ definition to me. Have read lots that says 3 full cycles is optimum which I assumed to be a mix of fresh / frozen. However the more I read, the more it looks like a full round including collection etc. So if you get Frosties they still only count as the first round…. Is that right?

Ladybug06 · 04/12/2021 14:53

Thank you @99pctpractice & @LouScot for your well wishes & sharing your experience, it’s much appreciated.

I’m feeling very sore & in a lot of discomfort - I kept feeling sick & faint afterwards (such dramatics!) so had to stay for a long time.
The clinic called today to say of the 8 eggs retrieved only 2 have fertilised (very disappointed given the number retrieved) & they have advised that transfer should go ahead tomorrow. I was expecting to do a 5 day transfer so worried that doing a much earlier transfer will lessen the chances as I can only assume they don’t think they will survive till 5 days. I’m really worried about the transfer process especially as I am in a lot of pain.
This IVF business is not easy is it! X

LouScot · 04/12/2021 15:47

@Ladybug06 hope the transfer goes well. Did they say how many of your 8 were mature? Hope you get some rest tonight and good luck tomorrow x

Ladybug06 · 04/12/2021 17:01

Hi @LouScot, they didn’t tell me anything more, so hopefully I will find out tomorrow. Thanks you so much 😘xx

Ladybug06 · 05/12/2021 11:32

Hi @LouScot transfer went ahead. I think it went well. I received an explanation on my eggs, so 7 of the 8 eggs retrieved were mature but the low fertilisation rate was due to the sperm having trouble sticking to the eggs.
It’s a shame they didn’t intervene & do ICSI

LouScot · 05/12/2021 16:31

@Ladybug06 that's great you've got one on board. Fingers crossed. Good you've got an explanation, sounds like icsi could've helped but hopefully you'll not need to go through this again x

Hopeful199 · 05/12/2021 16:58

Yes good luck @Ladybug06….. everything is crossed for you x

Hopeful199 · 06/12/2021 05:49

Hi @Pinklady81

Sorry I missed this the other day! Nice to know someone can relate at the same time.

How are you feeling about it all? Have you started the process yet?

My husband is having tests today then hopefully I can have my scans in a week or so and be ready to start in the new year.

Pinklady81 · 06/12/2021 07:45

@Hopeful199 I go for my initial scan tomorrow to see how things are with me then consultation then following say

Hopeful199 · 17/12/2021 21:06

@Ladybug06 hope all is well and you have a sticky one on board

@Pinklady81 I hope the scan went well and you are all on track for the new year.

We have the nurse consult and baseline next week….. don’t want to wish Christmas away but just really want to get going now!!!

Er not quite tested positive for covid it's been hell of a week!

Hopeful199 · 17/12/2021 22:51

@Pinklady81 oh no! Are you feeling poorly?

You poor thing…. Terrible timing too! What does that mean for treatment…. Do you have to wait until the new year now?

Really hope you are ok??

Pinklady81 · 17/12/2021 23:10

I'm free tomorrow night my scan is next week I rearranged so hopefully some news before new year but I'm not holding much hope my blood results are dismal !!!

Hopeful199 · 18/12/2021 09:06

@Pinklady81 great news you can get in before the Christmas break. Covid is literally everywhere again! At least you won’t catch it during treatment now which is better in a way otherwise they could cancel the cycles!

What happened with the blood results? We haven’t had anything back yet so no real idea what the picture looks like for us?!

Pinklady81 · 18/12/2021 11:13

@Hopeful199 my fsh levels are high so means my egg quality / quantity isn't great from the results but I will wait to see what the scan says. Endo plays a part in the results so I'm not surprised but still came as a shock x

Hopeful199 · 18/12/2021 17:04

@Pinklady81 fingers crossed the scan brings good news.

Good to know though…. I haven’t had my FSH yet so wonder if it might be the same for me.

I have only had AMH which was 10.4 and apparently ‘average for my age’ whatever thay means?! Confused

Pinklady81 · 18/12/2021 17:33

That's good I have t had my AMH Done yet all that next week but think they are all linked how old are you if you don't mind me asking ? X

Hopeful199 · 18/12/2021 19:22

@Pinklady81 I am 39…. 40 in April

Been trying for a long time but didn’t realise I had endo til I paid for private investigations

Now I have age and endo against me…… hoping there is still a chance though!

Pinklady81 · 18/12/2021 19:31

I'm
A year in front of you neither did I only found out this year after I pushed for investigations after an ectopic bloody covid has a lot to answer for x

Hopeful199 · 01/01/2022 07:37

Happy New Year everyone!

Fingers crossed this is the year for us all!

@Ladybug06 hope everything is all still well for you! Sending positive vibes

I’m currently on day 10 of Buserelin but AF hasn’t arrived….. have a scan on Tuesday but now worried I’ll be delayed…… just want to get going with stims!!!! I’m not good with all the waiting….. and I know it only gets worse!! Argh!
