Hi everyone.

I couldn't find a thread for ivf cycles July/August 2021 so I hope it's OK to start one. I was on the March/April thread for my fresh cycle and it was so nice to have support from others going through the same thing.

My fresh cycle was successful but unfortunately I miscarried at 8 weeks pregnant. We are start a frozen cycle with one of our 2 frozen embryos. Aiming to start tablets around the 10th July with the hope of transfer towards the end of July.

Would love to know if anyone else is in the same boat or has any tips!

Hi @Bethpalmer20

I was on the March/April thread too... I'm so, so sorry to hear about your miscarriage :(

I'm starting again July too, but a little bit behind you as we had no embryos to freeze and have to start from scratch. I'll be down regulating from end July. Always happy to keep each other company though!

No tips I'm afraid, especially for FET, but hopefully others will join with some ideas :)

I also found this thread yd: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/infertility/4283197-Starting-July-August-IVF-long-protocol-anyone-starting-the-same

Hey @beachbum85

I actually remember you from the March/April thread! So happy for you having another go at it and wishing you the best of luck this time around!

Do pop in to let me know how you're getting on, I will be thinking of you!

beachbum85 · 30/06/2021 09:53

Thank you very much @Bethpalmer20! And best of luck to you too :)
How are you feeling about the transfer and starting meds soon?

Bethpalmer20 · 30/06/2021 10:19

@beachbum85 I'm feeling really positive actually, of course nervous as well. It's really quite hard to stay in a positive mindset after realising how easily it can all be taken away from you.. But it feels great to finally have dates set and know that we are making some sort of progress. We have two good quality embryos, the clinic will only transfer one but I'm just going to take each hurdle as it comes and cross all my fingers and toes! How are you feeling about another cycle?

OP posts:
beachbum85 · 30/06/2021 13:14

Glad to hear you're feeling positive! I'm sure it must be very hard but it sounds like a great restarting point Star

I'm so relieved to have dates and a plan too - the uncertainty and waiting was really weighing on me. We had no good quality embryos on Day 5 last time round, so I'm quite worried that we have an egg or sperm quality issue, but I'm excited and looking forward to trying again and hoping for better results :)

JesHope345 · 30/06/2021 16:50

Hello,

There seems to be two threads for this. I just posted in other one but this one seems to be more active. So here I am again!

Hope it’s ok to join. I was on the May thread but slipped off when I developed OHSS after egg retrieval so didn’t get to transfer. Hopefully I will get to transfer sometime in July. Having my first scan for a natural FET transfer next week.

Alexm06 · 30/06/2021 17:09

@Bethpalmer20

I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I also had a miscarriage after my first fresh cycle and didn't have any frozen. This was august last year and had a missed miscarriage in the October. I had another fresh cycle in may which failed but I did manage to get 4 4AA and 1 4AB frozen.
Because of the now 2 failed cycle they have said about doing an endometrial scratch which I had booked in for Monday ready for my next cycle which is due to start on the 12th and transfer that cycle. I think I am also starting tablets then for the same sort of timeline!
I have only had the 2 fresh cycles so don't have any tips but I can imagine it's probably a bit less stressful without the injections and egg collection.

Bethpalmer20 · 30/06/2021 18:40

@beachbum85 all sounds really positive for you! I have a constant worry that the miscarriage was caused by a genetic issue and its going to happen again, I'm really hoping it was just a case of bad luck! The same for you as well, as hard as I'm sure the result of your first round was, fingers crossed it was just unlucky and not an underlying issue🤞

Hey @jeshope345 it must have been really hard having to have stopped after developing OHSS, that was always such a worry of mine when they said I had 40 follicles! I was lucky in the end and managed to avoid it but can imagine how disheartening that must have been! Sounds like we are in a similar situation now and will hopefully be transferring around similar times!

@alexm06 I am so sorry to hear about everything you've had to go through. I took our first cycle as a positive despite the miscarriage as we didn't even expect to have any eggs fertilise, but I cannot imagine the pain you have been through with the miscarriage and failed cycles. It sounds really promising for you having so many good quality embryos in the freezer. Hopefully the endometrial scratch will be beneficial for you. Sounds like we are also going to be on very similar cycles so do keep us updated regarding your progress!

Alexm06 · 30/06/2021 20:08

@Bethpalmer20 that's good if you weren't expecting any eggs!
Yeah I'm more hopefully this cycle with the scratch I know it's not proven to work but it does for some women so I'm holding on to that! Although I am a bit worried about the scratch as apparently it can be quite uncomfortable.
Yeah I should be only 2 days behind you. That all depends on my period though as I've seen some woman's next period after stims can be delayed but I'm pretty regular so
I'm hoping all is good to start the 12th!

Bethpalmer20 · 30/06/2021 20:36

@alexm06 hopefully you won't experience any discomfort but it'll all be worth it in the long run! My period can range from 28-32 days, I really want to just get on with it though, I'm so impatient. Trying not to stress otherwise it'll end up being about 40 days haha!

Aprilia123 · 30/06/2021 20:56

Hi everyone, can I join too? I also popped into the March/April thread which was our first cycle, only got one blast, BFN. So going again from scratch, started stims a few days ago on short protocol. I’ve hit the supplements so hoping that may have some effect, but my afc was lower this time (14 before, 10 now) so keep telling myself it’s quality not quantity. A lot more nervous this time round!

Hoping4baby21 · 30/06/2021 21:23

@Bethpalmer20 thanks for setting up the group and sorry to hear about your MMC. Hope it's ok that I join! I should be starting my next cycle on 10th July and then tablets on 11th. Never had a FET before.

Fresh cycle failed and was my first IVF cycle. That was rough, now using one of our 2 frozen embryos for a FET.

@Alexm06 sorry to hear about your losses, that must have been difficult. But great number of great embryos that's excellent!

@JesHope345 delaying your cycle due to OHSS must have been tough! Some have said in the end they enjoy the break. But I'm sure it's exciting to finally get going with a transfer though.

@Aprilia123 best of luck with this cycle!

I think it's so important to have some support from other ladies going through this as it can feel like a really lonely process.

Baby dust to all of us ✨✨✨

Alexm06 · 30/06/2021 22:06

@Bethpalmer20 god I hope so haha just have to wait and see. My period tends to come on day 29 sometimes 30 but yeah it's always late when I bloody want it hahaha I'm really impatient too I just want it to be happening now haha.

@Hoping4baby21 this is my first FET too! It's looks like a few of us all start tablets around the same time which is good.
Yeah 100% need the support. It's such a lonely time with no one knowing or have any idea how you feel unless they have gone through it themselves. None of my friends or family have so it's hard. One of my friends is starting her first cycle very soon so in a weird way im glad I have gone through it to be there for her.

Hoping4baby21 · 30/06/2021 22:35

@Alexm06 @Bethpalmer20 hope your periods come exactly when you want them to. I tracked my ovulation this cycle so I would know when it comes. I'm pretty regular and my luteal phase is always the same so if I know when I ovulate it's pretty obvious. It was a bitter sweet feeling knowing I ovulated when it feels like such a waste.

Yes I have told my closest friends but my parents don't know and same for my in laws. I'm currently finding it hard to be around people who don't know and pretending like all is good and normal when it feels anything but sometimes. But don't want to tell more people especially when you don't know what their idea of "support" will be like.

Glad there's a few of us going through it at the same time.

ForeverHopeful17 · 01/07/2021 08:14

Hi Ladies, I was also on the March/April thread for my first fresh cycle which sadly failed. Fortunately we had some blasts so will now be doing a FET, I have already started on Progynova and have a lining scan on Monday, all being well transfer should be mid-July. Unfortunately DH is away for a couple of months and we haven't told anyone we're doing IVF so it's a very lonely time atm.

@Bethpalmer20 and @beachbum85 I remember you both from the March/April thread, it's such a bittersweet feeling to see familiar names. Hopefully the next thread I see you on will be a pregnancy one 🙏🏾

I'm wishing everyone here the best of luck, I really hope this is a lucky thread 🍀✨✨

Lotusflower1990000 · 01/07/2021 08:35

Hi all hope it is ok to join? I am completely new and due to start ivf end of July I am starting a long proctor for Ivf I do not have a clue what’s coming even tho I have read through the process and spoken to the nurse I still do not know what to expect so it is really nice to read your comments and experiences. Baby dust to you all! Xx

Janefx40 · 01/07/2021 09:27

Hello all! Can I join? I was looking for a current thread but couldn't see one so thank you @Bethpalmer20 for setting this up.

I'm a bit of an IVF veteran. I did 2 fresh ICSI cycles back in 2018 that resulted in my daughter (now 2.5) so appreciate how lucky I am but definitely remember how it felt to go through it all for number 1.

We did an FET last year that resulted in MMC at 9 weeks and have since had one BFN from a fresh cycle. We are now doing back-to-back embryo banking. We didn't have a great result from our first banking cycle last month and we will start stims again in about 10 days.

Sorry to hear about your losses @Bethpalmer20 @Alexm06

@Hoping4baby21 it's so tricky with telling/not telling people. I generally find it easier not to talk about it but it makes it hard to have conversation with friends who don't know. I feel like I've nothing to say because I can't share the main thing that is going on

Hoping we all have fantastic cycles this summer xxx

Bethpalmer20 · 01/07/2021 11:41

Welcome @lotusflower1990000 @aprilia123 @hoping4baby21

And hello also to @foreverhopeful17 I remember you from the March/April thread! As you said its a very bittersweet feeling to see familiar names but it's nice to know we are all going through it together again❤️ sounds like you're a couple weeks ahead of me, do keep us updated on how everything goes, I'll also be doing a FET so will be super interesting to see how you find it! We also haven't told anyone so completely agree with it feeling lonely at times, I found the March/April thread such a lovely support when you don't have anybody in 'real life' that can relate! Sending you the best of luck, hopefully this will be a lucky thread!

@aprilia123 Definitely got to focus on quality not quantity, I've read many a thread where people have only managed to get one embryo and then gone on to have a successful pregnancy, it really does only take one!

@hoping4baby21 sounds like we are in a very similar situation, we most likely with only be a day or two apart in our cycles and both using one of our two frozen embryos. It's really nice when somebody is going through the same thing on a similar timescale as well. I will be following your progress, wishing you the best!

Hi everyone!

@Bethpalmer20 thanks! Definitely fingers crossed that it was just bad luck and will be much better this time 🤞 First of all, let's hope that period shows up on time :)

@Alexm06 I'm really sorry for your losses :( it must have been incredibly hard... You have some great embryos there so I hope this time till be the one xx

@Aprilia123 hello again and sorry about your BFN. Good luck with this cycle! When will you have your first scan? I'm definitely in the quality over quantity camp after last time although my clinic seem to think otherwise

@Hoping4baby21 sorry about your failed cycle - I hope this one will be much better! I also find it hard to be pretend everything is normal with those who don't know - we've started telling most of our friends (with no details) but yeah, their reactions are not always great. Much better to be able to share here with women who understand!

@ForeverHopeful17 hi again and sorry to hear you had a failed cycle too - I remember you and really hope you're right and it will be a pregnancy board next 🤞 sorry to hear it's a lonely time for you, but we're here xx

@Lotusflower1990000 I'm on a long protocol too, same as last time and more than happy to answer any questions if it helps :) it is a bit of a minefield but I found that once I started and got into a routine, it was all much easier than I expected!

@Janefx40 I remember you from another thread too, and I remember you were hugely supportive given your previous experiences :) fingers crossed for you that this round will give you some great embryos!

@JesHope345 great that you get to transfer so soon too! good luck for your first scan :)

Best of luck to all for some brilliant news over the next couple of months! Star

JesHope345 · 01/07/2021 15:06

@Hoping4baby21 @Bethpalmer20 it was such a tough thing to have to go through. To deal with having OHSS physically and the having to stop treatment was hard for me mentally. I had to have time to myself. However, I’m happy my body had had time to recover for the FET. I am nervous but trying to keep optimistic.

@beachbum85 thanks for the well wishes.
Best of luck to you and everyone else on this thread. It’s just nice that we get to support one another through this journey.

Aprilia123 · 01/07/2021 15:22

@Hoping4baby21 Best of luck to you too - hopefully tablets are less complicated than the injections!

@Bethpalmer20 Yeah, these threads are super helpful for showing you that results can come from any set up - certainly makes me a bit calmer in what feels like such an uncertain process.

@beachbum85 I know what you mean, my clinic is very ‘stim as many as possible’. First monitoring scan today and a couple have streaked off and are giant with the rest lagging, so time to start second injection for me.

beachbum85 · 01/07/2021 22:03

@JesHope345 that sounds really tough - it must have been such a rollercoaster of emotions! Glad you recovered OK and are ready for the FET and I hope things go smoothly from here on :)

@Aprilia123 same with my clinic... hope you get the others to catch up with the giants 🤞 what's the second injection for?

Janefx40 · 01/07/2021 22:18

@Aprilia123 Hope injections are going well. I had the same thing in my recent cycle with a couple of monster follicles and the rest lagging behind. It hadn't happened to me before so am going to ask my consultant about it. Hoping to speak to him tomorrow. Quite a few did catch up in the end. Hope the second injection went well

@beachbum85 yes I remember you too. Sorry that we are both still here but nice to see someone familiar too!

These threads are such a life saver

Xxx

Aprilia123 · 02/07/2021 09:13

@beachbum85 I’m on short protocol, so it’s the antagonist to stop ovulation (and hopefully let the others catch up). If you’re doing long, short is basically one injection for a few days and then add the second one, so two shots a day for the rest. I had high LH early on last time, so they’ve started me on it a bit earlier as it should prevent that.

@Janefx40 I remember you from another thread - hope you get a good result from this banking round! I don’t know if it happened the first time as I had no idea what to ask about - if you’re consultant has any tips on why it happens would be interesting to hear! Double injections were fine - had one of those lucky eves where I couldn’t actually feel either one!

How’s everyone doing today?
I was a pretty quick responder last time, and it looks like this time might be similar, so probably looking at collection mid next week.

Lotusflower1990000 · 02/07/2021 11:28

@beachbum85 thank you so much ❤️ It is so nice to hear other people have/are going through the same experience I really don’t know what to expect xx

I am due to start end of July so just waiting for my period which should be around 28th July xxx
