@thislittlebird my AMH was 54.2 when I started the treatment and had 39 folicules counted on the initial scan. I have been told that with this parameters a min to mid stims are better in order to avoid OHSS. So my protocol was short with Gonal F 225 for 4 days, then resuced to 150 and trigger with buserelin
An update from me...I got a letter with my protocol yesterday. She wanted to put me on max doses and then I complained at that plan and the letter confirms I’ll be on Gonal F 150. Do you think they’ll increase the dosage if I’m not responding after a few days? I’m worried by the experience level of this trainee doctor.

thislittlebird · 18/09/2021 12:12

Oh and my AMH was only 31.6 and AFC 38 that day I went in. I suspect some of those follicles were empty this month. I think I would have been happier on something like 225, just worried they won’t change it quick enough if it’s not working.

HereToLearnAndShare · 18/09/2021 13:59

@thislittlebird Once I started the stims it was:
scan on day 9 - continued same dosage
Scan on day 12 and trigger the same evening
EC on day 14
You can try to ask for an earlier scan if you feel the dose is too low.
And yes, not all folicules contain eggs - I had about 40 on the the 12 day scan and they retrieved 25 eggs.

Did you guys have trainee docs btw? I’m not sure if everyone gets them because it’s a teaching hospital.

Useful info, thanks @HereToLearnAndShare. I think that’s a good idea. Who is it that you make contact with about scans etc, the nurses? Day 9 seems quite late to change anything if it’s not working.

HereToLearnAndShare · 18/09/2021 14:42

@thislittlebird so when they call you that you are on the top of the list they will book you for your first scan based on your estimate AF dates (day 2-4 of your cycle). During the scan they will confirm whether or not you can start the stims and then will book your check up scan.
I dont think my doctor was a trainee. How did you find out that yours is?

@HereToLearnAndShare when they call then I’ll try to raise the issues of dosage and monitoring with them. I guessed she was because she was young and wanted to stick me on standard doses for a 38 year old on a chart, then when the letter came it’s clear she’s not a consultant. She’s a clinical fellow, so she’s still in training. Not a surprise because Guys is a teaching hospital, I was just a little disappointed with my experience and let’s just say I’m relieved I have spoken to consultants elsewhere in the past.

Hi Ladies.... Am new here and just wondering if
a new thread has been started or it's that I have just reached the end of the comments? Have loved reading all your comments, it's nice to know I am not alone on this journey.

Congratulations to all you who have been successful.... Wishing all those going through treatment or about to start treatment the very best of luck! I am currently waiting to hear about starting my treatment but guessing it will be a while as I only had my appointment beginning of Sept and was told end of the year before treatment would start.

canoechick · 21/09/2021 09:52

Sorry it is Guys!! I don’t know why I said kings… special moment / that’s where I had fetal medicine follow up and diagnosis with my daughter so clearly linked in my head!

Anyway we got our genetic results last week and have embryos that are usable hooray . Having medicine delivered today and hoping cycle starts it the next few days ( but hard to guess if will as post egg extraction period was early and this is based on that Hmm ) so all being well might be finally having FET mid oct

HereToLearnAndShare · 22/09/2021 20:36

Hey @jusstjaee and welcome :) No, there is no new thread yet. Unfortunately, a big part of this process is just waiting...

@canoechick its great news that you have embryos to use!
My period came 5 days after EC, which was 19th day of my cycle, so they said I need to wait till my next period to start the medicine. Not sure if it is a normal practice though.

@Etonmess20 how is it going, did you have your first scan yet?

@HereToLearnAndShare Thank you for confirming. And yes you couldn't be more it honestly is a never ending waiting game. How are you and how is your treatment going?

jusstjaee · 23/09/2021 00:11

@HereToLearnAndShare *right

Etonmess20 · 23/09/2021 07:11

@HereToLearnAndShare I'm good thank you, how are you? First scan is booked for Monday when I'll be 7+3, been a long old wait since we found out at 4+2.
Not too much longer for you now is it?

thislittlebird · 23/09/2021 08:11

@jusstjaee we’ll be a similar time, I’m guessing November/December. I saw them on Aug 31.

thislittlebird · 23/09/2021 08:12

Tbh hitting Christmas is kind of annoying so I do hope I get a call in November because I’ll likely need a freeze all which adds another month on.

morganablue · 24/09/2021 00:19

Hi beautiful bunch! I have been reading you but took a break and a little holiday:) @heretolearnandshare hi lovely! Yes, started to take 8mg of meds fo FET, scan on 1/10 and hopefully EC first week of October. Las embryo from my first cycle, 4BB, so fingers crossed for this one!

I am.back to work in full swing which is it's a bit mad and hormones are making me quite tired, but much easier than stims to manage I must say.

How is everyone?

@etonmess congratulations 👏🙌💖

morganablue · 24/09/2021 00:21

Meant to say ET not EC :)

Etonmess20 · 24/09/2021 06:54

@morganablue thank you ❤️ got everything crossed for your FET, not long to go now! Hope you had a lovely holiday!

HereToLearnAndShare · 24/09/2021 12:23

@jusstjaee I am currently waiting for my next period to start taking medicines for a FET transfer. If all goes well the transfer should be around the 18th of Oct.

@Etonmess20 ah that's exciting! Wish you luck on Monday! :)
Yes, not too long for me yet. Hopefully, AF comes next week as planned.

@morganablue nice to hear from you! Oh so its around the corner then :) Hope all goes well! Not a great time to be busy at work, but as you said pills are better than going through the injection process.

Hey,

Anyone still waiting in 2022?

Paperwork sent over in August 2021 and “received” by guys in jan 22.

Trying 2wait :(

LouP87 · 09/11/2023 17:55

I know this thread is super old now (and I’ve read it all!). But wondered whether there is anyone here now currently with Guy’s ACU via NHS? Or recent?

I’ve had my first appointment following funding approval, the doctor talked to us about a lot of things and said all we have to do now is wait for their call to start which would be within the next 3 months. We’ve not been told what our protocol will be etc. so now I’m just waiting and resisting the urge to annoy them with questions!
