@GJW2018 I bet. I can't even look that far ahead to a point at which this long journey ends and another begins. It's too much to comprehend, the anxiety to come will do me in.

How long are you off work for and how far gone are you? I need to make some sort of off work plan.

Private is fine and expensive, just all been very delayed by my lack of rubella antibodies. I've had to have the MMR, my second dose is August 12. Then one more month before we can ttc again. SO all being well our last chance before IVF is between September 12th and 28th ish. IVF will start as of my end of September period, not sure when that will be but 28th give or take a few days. Going to email them today about a few things including a new AMH test, an appointment with the nurse about injections and to confirm they'll accept evidence of my vaccinations as enough to start, as opposed to confirmation of antibodies. I could be one of those people who don't develop them.

DH's SA seems to have improved a bit as of May, so hoping it will continue that improvement in October.

thislittlebird · 07/08/2021 12:12

It's also been 2 years for us in October, and 15 months since investigations started, so it seems like long enough. I can't keep waiting at my big age.

GJW2018 · 07/08/2021 12:12

@thislittlebird that’s good news about your DH’s SA but super annoying about the MMR. Still will fly till September.
I’m a teacher so somehow this cycle timed itself with summer hols (had ET on the last day of term) so I blessing that I can chill as works usually hectic but not good for having so much time to think. In terms of time of work I just popped in and out for scans and stuff then had 2 days for for EC then because I had a freeze all had the day off for ET. People say you can book off the TWW to properly chill but depends on how your work are. If you’re working from home would probably be fine to still work in that time and a good distraction! But definitely a day or two for EC and ET xxx

Lioness1990 · 07/08/2021 12:48

Hiya @thislittlebird I hope private is quicker & better for you. We considered it but was just too pricey for us at the moment

Hey @GJW2018

thislittlebird · 07/08/2021 14:10

@Lioness1990 Yeah, it's pricey for us and it's very worrying knowing it might not work, but as you can see from my choice to move to private my experience with NHS help has been awful. I'm 38 and they don't seem even vaguely interested in age, I don't get it.

@GJW2018 Very lucky with the timing then with your job. it's hard to work out, I'm telling work what I'm doing and planning to take a couple of days at transfer and collection. I don't really want to take holiday for the whole process because I won't have much left, but I can work from home. Also told them I'm self-isolating from mid September because I don't want to put all of this at risk by getting covid. What time of day were your scans? I'm hoping my private clinic do them first thing in the morning.

becarefuloutthere · 07/08/2021 20:48

@Vparisi aww congratulations 🥳 stunning ring! What a lovely proposal 😍
@Lioness1990 welcome, I'm glad the ball is rolling for you now!
@thislittlebird I bet you're so pleased you can start soon, only one more month to go!!

Etonmess20 · 08/08/2021 08:03

@HereToLearnAndShare thank you 😘 are you in on Wednesday? How you feeling about it all? X

Welshpea · 08/08/2021 12:28

@Vparisi OMG CONGRATULATIONS! that ring is stunning ! what thoughtful timing from your DH!

Welcome @Lioness1990 ! ahh i was referred from darenth valley too back in November and i did my first cycle July. Means we must live fairly close !

@GJW2018 I've booked appointment with Dr Gorgy - it's Friday this week - i always giggle to myself at how quickly you can get stuff done when you have to pay! I only booked Friday and they offered me a Monday appointment! DH is fully on board with doing full panel of tests to cross it off the list !

Welshpea · 08/08/2021 12:29

Good starting girlies ! i have everything crossed that you'll both have a great cycle

Welshpea · 08/08/2021 12:29

Good Luck*

GJW2018 · 08/08/2021 12:44

That’s great news @Welshpea I will say he’s very to the point but I suppose that’s all you want! And they don’t do a write up after so make sure you write everything down while you’re in there! The first consultation we had I came away expecting a write up and they said they don’t do that and I couldn’t remember anything he’d said! Xxxx

HereToLearnAndShare · 08/08/2021 14:50

@Etonmess20 yes, my appt is on Wed (hope AF will be on time) I feel nervous about the injections tbh.. I am scared of needles and doing them myself seems as a huge challenge. I was googling today a nurse visiting services, but they seem quite expensive
Does anyone used a nurse for the stimms or they are not as bad as they look 😱?

OP posts:
Etonmess20 · 08/08/2021 14:57

@HereToLearnAndShare that was my main worry too!! Would your DP doing the injections be an option? I'm not at all scared of needles personally but must say that the thought of doing it to myself makes me feel a bit odd so the plan is my DP will learn with me at the appointment then just do them for me (though he says we must do the prep together 😂)

GJW2018 · 08/08/2021 15:42

@HereToLearnAndShare and @Etonmess20 I was soooo nervous about the injections and found them such an anticlimax. I found they didn’t hurt anywhere near as much as I thought they would and were so much easier to do that I anticipated. It’s definitely scary and a bit overwhelming at first but once you get in the swing it’s honestly ok xxxx

Vparisi · 08/08/2021 20:49

Thank you @Etonmess20 ❤❤ see you tomorrow, so exciting!! AF came a day early so will be day 3 Monday but all set!

Thanks so much @Lioness1990 and welcome to the thread, I'm sure you'll find it a great place for support. Great it sounds like it is all moving ahead for you!

Thanks @thislittlebird I had been wondering about you and I am so frustrated to hear you have still gotten nowhere with the NHS. Good that private is moving forward, i didn't realise rubella was so important?

Thanks so much ladies @gjw2018 @becarefuloutthere @welshpea , means so much!! ❤❤

Thank you @heretolearnandshare , can't believe we are starting this week! I'm sure the needles won't be as scary as they seem and it will hopefully all be over pretty soon. Wishing you luck 😘😘

HereToLearnAndShare · 08/08/2021 21:36

@GJW2018 Thank you! I hope you are right! ❤️ This might be an opportunity to concur my fear of needles, so hopefully it will work that way!

@Etonmess20 my DH said he doesn't want to do anything to me that cause pain, which is very nice of him 🤗 but is not helping in this situation 😅
I assume that if I am freaking out, he will do it, but he is out for now

@Vparisi Thank you! Its exciting you two will be meeting tomorrow 🙃

OP posts:
Etonmess20 · 09/08/2021 09:11

@HereToLearnAndShare @Vparisi not sure if I'm in trouble but just had an email saying I'm due in clinic today & to confirm when CD1 was 😬 I've emailed back to say it was Friday as expected but I didn't know I had to confirm if it was on time 😂 oh the stress!!!!

Vparisi · 09/08/2021 09:13

@Etonmess20 so strange...I didn't get the email and didn't confirm. So hopefully all good today for my appointment haha. Can't believe today is the day!

Etonmess20 · 09/08/2021 09:19

@Vparisi honestly the level of organisation is hilarious 😂 the lady basically said to only email if my period fell outside of the timelines so obviously it came when expected so I didn't!!
Sure you'll be fine, she emailed straight back to say thanks & see you soon so clearly not an issue!
Super exciting isn't it? We're leaving in 5 minutes to get the train!! I've got a black & white top on btw & will more than likely have massive frizzy hair by the time I get there cus of all the rain 😂 see you soon!!

Lioness1990 · 09/08/2021 09:49

@Welshpea yes we must live close! I live in Thurrock so wasn’t expected to be referred from Darent Val.

Does anyone know if Guys allow you to do scans at satellite clinics near you? Work are being a pain at the moment & just trying to pre-empt certain issues before I have to tell them I’m having treatment when the time comes.

Good luck to you ladies this week 💕

Welshpea · 09/08/2021 09:54

@Lioness1990 Ahh i'm Gravesend!

We asked about this but you have to go into London each time and can't do it more locally. I had to go in for bloods last Wednesday . I literally got off the train had bloods and was back on a train home 21 minutes later 😂 so 2 hour travel for 21minutes 🤣🤣

Vparisi · 09/08/2021 11:02

@Etonmess20 with the bread source bag?

thislittlebird · 09/08/2021 11:49

@Vparisi Yeah, the consultant basically said to me you can take the risk but if you get rubella it means you need an abortion and since I don't have antibodies I decided it was best to have to two doses of MMR. I may not develop antibodies, and I'm very unlikely to get rubella in the UK in 2021 since it's so rare, but I've done what I can.

@Lioness1990 wow, I didn't know they covered Thurrock too. Is it the nearest big teaching hospital with an ACU?

I had a moan/chase of Guys at the weekend and now I have an appointment with them for Aug 31 at the ACU. So that was a surprise. I assumed we'd been shoved to the back of the queue again but here we are. Just told to bring ID, not really sure what it's for? But after a year plus since we started investigations and the terrible GP and gynaecologist experiences, I won't complain about an appointment.
