Hey @Etonmess20 I suffer from permanent UTIs and as a result I am on a daily low dose of Nitrofurantoin (forever) which is a standard UTI antibiotic. Doctor said this is fine to stay on through IVF. However no harm in checking

Etonmess20 · 05/08/2021 09:54

@Vparisi @GJW2018 @becarefuloutthere thanks for the advice guys! I was just worried if I phoned the nurses that they'd be like "oh well if you're ill we're best to delay" 😂 I'll mention it to my GP when he calls & see what he says.

Rj1988 · 05/08/2021 20:40

Hi @GJW2018 - hope all's going well with you , just a quick question is the transfer done on day 6 of progesterone or day 5?

GJW2018 · 05/08/2021 21:11

Hey @Rj1988, I’m all good, cramping has stopped today so I’ve been panicking all day but 🤞🏻 It’s fine. I started progesterone on the Sunday and transferred on the Friday so the transfer was on the 6th day of taking progesterone xx

Rj1988 · 06/08/2021 06:20

@GJW2018 - both your HCG and progesterone levels are great so I am sure there is nothing to worry about. Your lil baby must be used to you now hence the cramping has stopped Smile

I just realised they moved my scan to day 15 which is a Monday so that means they won't be able to do the transfer till next Monday atleast bec I will have to be on progestone for min 6 days and they don't work on weekends Hmm

I don't want to take these estrogen unnecessarily, longer than actually required because this nausea and headaches are really bad.

GJW2018 · 06/08/2021 07:45

@Rj1988 oh no that’s so annoying that they’ve moved it. Can’t you call them and say you have something unavoidable so it needs to be the Friday? The estrogen is not fun but it does settle down after a little while. Bloody hormones. These bum injections are horrific, my bums in agony! The things we go through! Xx

becarefuloutthere · 06/08/2021 08:22

@Rj1988 they do work weekends, my transfer was on a Sunday.

Rj1988 · 06/08/2021 09:42

@GJW2018 - I just sent an email requesting them to move it slightly earlier, waiting for their response now.

Bum injections - they must be horrible too Sadsending you lots of courage xx

@becarefuloutthere - thanks for message!
I thought they don't do transfer on weekends at all. Can I ask if you were NHS or private?

Any other ladies in this group who got their transfer done over weekends. (While nhs funded)?

GJW2018 · 06/08/2021 10:00

@Rj1988 I requested the Saturday and they said they don’t do frozen transfers at the weekend, only fresh. So I only had the option of Friday or Monday. I don’t see why as it’s the same process! I was NHS xx

Welshpea · 06/08/2021 10:17

@Rj1988
My collection was the monday and took progesterone in the evening then transfer was saturday so 6 days

they only do transfers on the weekend and no other appointments and only mornings i think

becarefuloutthere · 06/08/2021 10:18

@Rj1988 I was nhs. They defo work weekends for nhs patients too. One of my scans was on a Saturday. Ah just seen @GJW2018 post about frozen. Mine was fresh, I guess that makes the difference.

becarefuloutthere · 06/08/2021 10:19

@Welshpea yeah my Saturday scan was the morning.

Welshpea · 06/08/2021 10:20

@Rj1988 also your scan date doesn't necessarily mean you'll be ready for egg collection - my scan was a wednesday but egg collection wasn't until the monday as they wanted to give me more time

my scan showed 7 and the monday they collected 14 so the extra time worked
if i hadn't had it prob would have had only 7

Also i am NHS

Rj1988 · 06/08/2021 12:00

@Welshpea @becarefuloutthere @GJW2018 - I spoke to the nurse and she said they don't do transfer on weekends for medicated frozen cycles. So this won't be an option for me.

However after insisting they moved my scan to day 12 ( Friday on the week before) so hopefully that should help now

Rj1988 · 06/08/2021 12:43

@Welshpea - sorry this is for frozen transfer

Vparisi · 06/08/2021 12:43

@Etonmess20 @HereToLearnAndShare here we are going into our last weekend before treatment!!! Feels unbelievable

Etonmess20 · 06/08/2021 12:52

@Vparisi omg doesn't it? AF has done its but & arrived right on time today - never been so happy to see her tbh 😂
How are you feeling?

HereToLearnAndShare · 06/08/2021 17:24

@Vparisi @Etonmess20 yes! Its just a few days before we start the journey! It feels we have been waiting for so long, that tbh it doesnt feel real yet. I assume with the first scan with will get more real 😅
Hope my AF will be on time too 🤞

@Welshpea I meant to comment on one of your messages - i think you should def keep trying in between transfers! My sister had an unsuccessful IVF cycle ( apparently her eggs were too "hungry" so she end up with 0 properly feetilized eggs), 2 months later she conceived naturally, had a baby and 2 years later got pregnant again without any stimms. So especially if you have unexplained infertility I think you should keep trying in between!

@Etonmess20 pretty good thank you. Have been distracted this weekend as DP booked a lovely pre-ivf weekend staying at the Shard and finally delivered a long-awaited proposal haha. So will be a very lovely weekend before the stress starts!! Glad AF came on time - hopefully mine is also on time tomorrow....

Lioness1990 · 07/08/2021 09:08

Hi everyone 👋🏾

First timer on the IVF train and also referred to Guys. Was super nervous so trawled the net and found this lovely thread. Spent the night reading through parts 1 & 2 and seeing everyone’s incredible journeys!

I’m 31 hubby 35 been TTC for 2 years and had 1 mc last April (2 in lifetime). Definitely felt something wasn’t right so after consistently chasing we were able to do some testing via Gp and privately. Turns out I’m fine but hubby has male factor issues “oligoasthenoteratozoospermia”. It shocked us as he’s super healthy (guess mc had to happen or else we’d never have a reason for hubby to test sperm)

Anyway I forced GP to refer us on NHS (April/May), had consultation at Darent Valley (24th June) where Dr deemed my ultrasound unnecessary as I presented all test results from previous month & said she’ll refer us straight away for IVF/ICSI at Guys. Had Guys video consultation with Reproductive Medicine Clinic on Wednes 4th going through medical history for both us & said we should be eligible for treatment/ funding. We were told we’ll be contacted soon for a face to face appointment & treatment should start within 4-6 weeks.

Lioness1990 · 07/08/2021 09:09

Sorry for the long message just wanted to share my journey so far!

Also @Vparisi congratulations on your engagement! That brought tears of joy this morning

thislittlebird · 07/08/2021 11:26

I haven’t checked in here in a while, I’ve definitely missed BFPs? Congratulations to you @Vparisi!

Hi to @Lioness1990! I was also referred end of June and have heard nothing beyond a survey at all so I think my decision to go private was a good one. Haven’t heard back from my complaint lodged in May either. Sigh.

I will probably just give up hoping on my Guys referral soon. The disparity in experience is frustrating to say the least.

thislittlebird · 07/08/2021 11:28

From a quick squizz it looks like I need to send some congrats to @GJW2018 too! Great news and what a long journey to get there x

GJW2018 · 07/08/2021 11:49

Eeeek soooo exciting @HereToLearnAndShare @Etonmess20 @Vparisi can’t believe you guys will be starting this week! And amazing news @vparisi! Congratulations! 💍

Welcome @Lioness1990!

Thank you @thislittlebird, a long journey is an understatement! I will say the stress continues though! Feels like such a long wait till scan now and with zero symptoms and being off work my mind is working overtime! How are you getting on with private treatment? Xxx
