First cycle of IVF - buddies please!

Hi everyone,

Been on the conception boards a fair bit but this is first time on the infertility section.
Bit of background - 28 and been TTC for two years for first child. Had one miscarriage about 10 months ago at 5 weeks. Had all our fertility checks and no major issues have been identified. Consultant suggested IVF for us so we are currently in that process.
Nurse consultation is 2nd July and then hoping it’s not long after then!

Looking for some buddies to keep me going through it all as hate all kinds of hospital things and to stop me over thinking about!

@momo32 I think That sounds like a good idea, keeping your self busy, but not too busy as in cleaning (that can be left for now ). Did you freeze any embryos? Hope you're feeling good and having loads of positive thoughts!

@girlwholifts you are so right, it's going so quickly. It's funny waiting all the this time for treatment and it's so fast especially short protocol.

I had my scan today to track follicles, I have over 20 all above 13mm and some smaller ones. Two of them are too big at 19mm and 21mm so 2ill probably lose these ones apparently, but overall responded well but at risk of OHSS. I'm booked in for another scan on Friday with possible egg collection on Monday, but they think it might be a freeze all due to the risk. Not sure how to feel about the freeze all but need to do with what's best. Also my lining is 6.3 which they seemed happy with.. not sure what it should be.

Back to day 1 for me but actually really excited as this time next cycle means I will be starting my injections! Starting to feel very real now.

@LS2020 @dogmam Thanks guys! It's getting crazy tbh. It's day 4 now and all I want to do is test and fast forward time. I thought I'm going to be more chill but because of the weather - I'm always in the house so not many distractions.
We got 9 eggs surviving day 5 but only 3 got frozen. That's still a good number cause they're very good quality and the one they've put in already was grade 1. 🤞🏻

@Momo32 when can you test from? I know they say two weeks. good news on the eggs and deffo a good back up number!

@dogmam ive heard that sometimes FET are better than fresh so I wouldn’t worry about, a bit annoying to do another set of injections and have the delay though!

@LS2020 in 6 days I think I'll do it earlier, don't have that much will power.

@Girlwholifts i'm glad to hear the injections are not that bad. I'm ok with bloods and I don't have an issue with needles in general, if it's someone else doing the stabbing. It's the self-inflicted pain I have a problem with... we'll see when i finally get to that stage.

I hope your EC went well today.

@dogmam that's a great number of follies! I was told that frozen can be better as it lets your body rest, but I get it's a bit frustrating having to wait. Will they reassess your risk of OHSS after EC or stick with freeze all based on the number of follicles?

@Momo32 3 frozen is great 😊 especially if they are all high quality. In any case I am keeping my 🤞 the embie you have on board is a sticky one.

@LS2020 turns out that more people can send emails 🙄 30 minutes after my last call, the clinic had the report.
Now the nurses and the consultant will review everything and then they will be in touch with the appointment date to have the baseline scan and be told when to stop the pill and start the stims.
We might end up cycling at the same time but at this point who knows 🤷‍♀️ I've given up trying to stick to any schedule with this process. Something always comes up.

So EC went ok we got 5 eggs, unfortunately age isn’t on my side haha.
It was a little more painful than I expected as I’m not too sure the sedation had kicked in before they started but had some gas and air which helped. Nice little surprise sticking a pain killer up your bottom before you go into theatre 🥴
No other pain so far so doing good. Nice to catch up with all the news.

@dogmam great news on the follicles 🤩 fingers crossed for Fridays scan and trigger shot Saturday 🤞🏼

@Novavee on the first few injections I was like “Bitch” but then you get used to the little sting and it’s over with in seconds. Like you say it’s easier when it’s not self inflicted 🤣

@girlwholifts ah so pleases you got 5 eggs today, that's great regardless of age. That must have been tough without the sedation fully kicking in, good job you had gas and air. I had no idea about the pain killer up the bum first!! Hope you're feeling ok and get good news over the next few days.

@Novavee I assume they'll assess the risk of OHSS again but they heavily implied it would be freeze all, but we'll see. I bet you can't wait to hear back from the consultant about when your baseline scan is. Once that's done with you'll be well on your way so not too much longer to wait, and honestly it flys over when you get started.

@LS2020 yeah AF starting is pretty welcome when you just want to get started isn't it. I think once you know you need ivf then AF isn't so painful especially compared to the waiting. This time next month hopefully you'll be well on your way with everything.

Hi everyone I had egg collection yesterday got 7 eggs but only 2 fertilised with icsi I was a bit disappointed but you do only need 1. What clinic are use all in?

@Momo32 don’t blame you, I think 10 days after transfer is ages, I’ll probably cave at 7 days post 🤦‍♀️ With my mc, I had a strong positive and digital at 12dpo so will deffo cave at 7 days if get done on day 5.

@Novavee what a pain! As lovely as it would be to have a cycle buddy, I’m holding out hope you will get done sooner. Everything will happen for a reason although when you’re 38 weeks pregnant you’ll wish you were at 40 😂

@Girlwholifts 5 is still really good but oh my god I’d have been off the table if i was still feeling something!!
I think I’m going to get OH to do mine as I don’t want to wuss out!

@dogmam I fully agree! Normally this point I’m so depressed eating my weight in chocolate and I’ve barely touched it and I’m watching pregnancy insta stories - never normally like that. Though my OH was a bit sad, he had been hopeful it might just be our month but after 26 cycles your stats are shit and I’m much more excited for.

Hi @tmc2021! Yes you do and 2 is still a really good number to come out with. I am Leeds based so will be with Leeds fertility hospital on NHS 😊

@Girlwholifts I also had ec yesterday I was given anaesthetic though x

@dogmam Yeh it was uncomfortable that’s for sure. Had the call yesterday and 4 fertilised which we are so relieved about! ET on Monday if they make it to Blast 🤞🏼
Honestly best decision for me was letting DH do the injections. Hardly felt a thing.

@LS2020 When she started I was like wow I can feel more than I thought I would and then it got worse and I remember letting out a little yelp and my anaesthetist said ok maybe we need to give you some more and did along with the gas and air and it made no difference 🤣 I would defo opt for Anaesthetic next time!

@tmc2021 I was advised by my consultant to be awake and sedated, god knows why though! My DH said it’s probably so they make more money 🤣 I would defo opt for going under next time (fingers crossed there isn’t a next time) How did you feel after? I’ve not had any pains or anything. Hope it all went well for you x

But oh nooo. I’m a sedation one too, they won’t put me under haha I already asked. they said they use some hypnotising drug and I may or may not remember it and I’m a not a big fan of those odds 😂

@LS2020 I’m sure you’ll have a far better experience than me and the fact that we know we have to get through it makes it easier to deal with. My DH said there is always one and it’s always me which is so right so I just laugh it off now.
I must say it was nice being awake though, you could hear everything going on and also I was discharged 1hr from leaving theatre which was a HUGE bonus to me 🤩
Honestly you’ll be fine ❤️

How's everyone feeling today? I'm still tender of EC. I get another call of clinic tomorrow to see how embryos doing I just hope they doing well I'm a nervous wreck. All being well transfer Monday. Xx

@tmc2021 sorry to hear you’re feeling sore lovely. Did you have quite a few taken? I’m also in for Monday all being well. When did you have EC?
