First cycle of IVF - buddies please!

Hi everyone,

Been on the conception boards a fair bit but this is first time on the infertility section.
Bit of background - 28 and been TTC for two years for first child. Had one miscarriage about 10 months ago at 5 weeks. Had all our fertility checks and no major issues have been identified. Consultant suggested IVF for us so we are currently in that process.
Nurse consultation is 2nd July and then hoping it’s not long after then!

Looking for some buddies to keep me going through it all as hate all kinds of hospital things and to stop me over thinking about!

@Girlwholifts yes I used clear blue same as you by looks of things

@Girlwholifts yeah I found clearblue tests always are the best and a digitals really good as it shows how high your HCG is from the weeks reading so a 2-3 week result is a strong line!

Was happily searching massage places for before my embryo transfer and remembered that I have to go into isolation from day 9 scan 😫 will have to talk the OH into giving me one 😂

@LS2020 on some of the other forums some
ladies recommended the first response abs getting them from Amazon. I didn’t bother as the clinic told me they provided them little did I know they were absolutely crap!

You still have to isolate? That’s pretty poor! I thought they would have stopped that now and just stuck with the COVID tests. See is you can get them from Amazon save the hassle of getting the wrong ones 🤣

Hi all, just a little update.. scan looked great and I’m now able to start stims! Menopur for me now (still have to keep injection Buserelin) and scan showed we’re still on track for egg collection on the 9th 🤞🏼

@tmc2021 hope you are able to get some rest, clearly your body is working overtime to grow the little one.

@Girlwholifts I have some first response from Amazon actually as was on prime day deal so stocked up 😂 got a clearblue digital test and double check kit or something like that. I’ve got more of the first responses though so will use them first.

Yes it’s a super pain, I have to have a test on day 9 too and I absolutely hate doing them. My gag reflex is awful.

@CatMarina exciting! That is a long protocol though!

Yeah I’m on long protocol. Didn’t even realise there were different ones!? Hehe silly me, Since we started injections I have almost tried to switch off from it all and try and go with the flow to not get too stressed. Is anyone else on a long protocol?

@CatMarina yay for getting started! How are you finding the injections?

@LS2020 sorry to hear about the need for isolation and testing. I was so nervous about testing positive (despite being double-jabbed) that I only saw people outside. Maybe you could still do that if the weather's nice?

As for me, one of my embryos made it to blast graded 3AA. Other embryo did not make it to blast and was discarded today. Feeling very lucky to have one on ice in case the one on board doesn't stick. With my low AMH and only 3 eggs collected, it's as much as I could have hoped for.

I got a call from the clinic today. The consultant is happy to go ahead and not make me stay a third cycle on the pill (pending a good baseline scan, date tbc) so they wanted to know what dates i wasn't available and the nurses will be in touch soon with the complete treatment plan with start date and all scan dates. We have one week of annual leave booked for mid-August so it's either starting in the next week or two and postpone our holidays or start the week of 23rd August after we get back. They just need to check with the rest of the clinic's schedule to fit us in.

So all still a bit in the air about exact start dates but at least a decision has been made about proceeding and i know I'll receive the schedule soon.

They sent me a covid information pack today advising to self isolate between swab test (they will send a kit home) and EC. I am sorry you will have to self isolate from your day 9 scan. Do you know if you'll also have to self isolate between EC and ET? That part wasn't mentioned on the document...

@LS2020 So where are you now in your cycle? You sound very prepared which is great!

@Ally0400 Yeh feeling ok thank you How are you feeling? Great news about 1 making it to the freezer! I bet you was over the moon hearing that news.

@CatMarina Great ethos to have. Its strange how quick the injection go by so your longer protocol may wizz by before you know it!

@LS2020 how come you have to isolate between collection and transfer? I didn't I was private in Chester xx

@tmc2021 I haven’t had any nausea just sore boobs and I’m always tired so not sure if I’m any worse 😂

I had to self isolate from EC to ET and that was private. Strange how they all follow different guidance! Would have thought that with everything easing up they may have dropped that.

Did another test this morning and still pregnant 🤞🏼

@Ally0400 well my plan had been to see final people this weekend and then start an early self imposed isolation but OH has had a panic on not seeing anyone for a month and is now trying to fit his family in 😬🙄

@Girlwholifts AF is due Wednesday so probs about CD20, not been tracking too much! Fab news on the tests - what are you using now?

@tmc2021 @Novavee sorry did I say to EC, I have to isolate all the way to ET from day 9! I agree it’s v daft because I said to OH, what if that test is positive on the day 9, they’re going to have to abandon full thing?! Although a close friend is a midwife and she thinks it could just be that they’ll keep us isolated rather than fully stopping. I’m tempted to ring up and confirm what the process would be either way.

@tmc2021 I'm with The Lister, in London. I've just been told to self-isolate between a swab as close to EC as possible and EC. If I test positive the cycle is abandoned. Nothing about what to do between EC and ET, which is why I was wondering how @LS2020 was told to do.

Day 9 to EC is a long time indeed. No wonder your DP is trying to see as many people as possible. Will you just have that one swab on day 9 or will you test again closer to EC/ET?

I'm very excited to finally be so close to starting. Can't wait to actually do something other than just wait!

Have you had a scan date yet? I’ve been told mine will be w/c 9th Aug actual date to be confirmed. Didn’t realise it was so early on!
