First cycle of IVF - buddies please!

Hi everyone,

Been on the conception boards a fair bit but this is first time on the infertility section.
Bit of background - 28 and been TTC for two years for first child. Had one miscarriage about 10 months ago at 5 weeks. Had all our fertility checks and no major issues have been identified. Consultant suggested IVF for us so we are currently in that process.
Nurse consultation is 2nd July and then hoping it’s not long after then!

Looking for some buddies to keep me going through it all as hate all kinds of hospital things and to stop me over thinking about!

@Girlwholifts try stay positive this is my 3rd ivf cycle it's so hard going. Nobody who hasn't gone through it understands.

Hey everyone! I’m currently in my first cycle of IVF and doing injections and egg retrieval pencilled in for 9th august.
SO NERVOUS but excited.
Struggling to be positive and realistic in case. Hard balance! Any tips.

@LS2020 I tested last night and my test date was this morning so literally the night before

@CatMarina hey hun just try to stay as normal as you can to stay occupied that's all's I done I done some swimming few massages but literally stayed as normal as possible. Xx

@tmc2021 I didn’t know it was your 3rd cycle, I’m over the moon that you have a positive result this times it brilliant news!! Like they say 3rd time lucky 🍀💛
What I’ve found the hardest is we haven’t told anyone we have started. All our family know we are having IVF but we told them we delayed it for financial reasons. I just wouldn’t be able to cope with all questions and the just relax it will happen bullshit. Some of them don’t understand how hard this really is!

I was very similar to you, excited to be starting but I didn’t want to get my hopes up incase it didn’t work. I’m a very positive person so even though it didn’t work for me this time, it’s not to say it won’t the next time.
One thing I will say is remember you are pregnant until proven otherwise and not the other way round 💛
How are you finding your injections?

@Girlwholifts yes third cycle my friend got caught am now got baby boy of first cycle and my boss had about 9-10 cycles before she got her baby boy so you cannot give up and have got to pick yourself on after each cycle and carry on. Positive thinking is key. Are you testing Monday again? Xx

@Girlwholifts I’m feeling so excited to just feel that magic even if it’s not meant to be this time round, I will keep going.
Injections are going well, first one was horrible but just due to anxieties tbh. It’s just a little scratch and little bit stingy but getting used to them.
How did anyone’s egg collection go? Pain wise and expectations? X

@girlwholifts aw I'm so sorry to see your update how are you doing? You sound very positive, do you think you maybe didn't get your hopes up so have just accepted it easier? Hope you're ok and are having a nice weekend. Owning a gym I bet keeps you busy, sounds amazing!

@Bryterlayter1 egg collection for me on short protocol was CD15 (cd14 from starting stims) it all depends though on your scans, I had a scan on CD10 and CD12 then trigger on CD13)

@Ally0400 ah amazing that all 3 of your eggs have fertilised! Hope you get more good news in the next few days.. how are you finding the wait?

@tmc2021 amazing, congratulations! I bet you're on cloud 9!! Did you do anything different in terms of protocol for your 3rd round?

@catmarina ah it's a fine balance between exciting and overwhelming anxiety once you get started! I had my egg collection last week and it was a strange experience, not painful just wiered, I can't explain lol just the whole day felt like a huge deal as all those injections were for that one day. For me though the hardest part was the week following collection, waiting for the day 3 and day 5 updates of how the embryos are getting on. I had to put leave in at work as the waiting just gave me so much anxiety I couldn't work which sounds totally dramatic I know! When's your next scan booked in for?

Hi everyone, sorry I've been a bit absent and rubbish at keeping up. The week was crazy at work and stepping back from social media helped deal with the anxiety caused by the delays in getting started.
Had a scan and it seems delaying was the right choice as my endometrium looks less polypoid, so I've started a second round of microgynon yesterday and will see what the next couple of weeks bring.

@dogmam great news about your frosties. Hopefully you will be able to start your FET soon.

@Girlwholifts i'm so sorry about your BFN, lovely. Is Monday your OTD? Hopefully you'll have better news then.

@Bryterlayter1 sorry to read you couldn't start this cycle. The next few weeks will fly by, you'll see. Easier said, I know, especially from someone like me who is terrible at waiting! Enjoy your glamping, sounds great!

@dogmam that’s calming to know, thank you! I’m still working from home so hopefully work will be a distraction for those days! Not dramatic at all I had a random day of a few ago because I just needed that time out.
I have my scan on Tuesday! X

@tmc2021 I’m not sure I will be as well behaved as you but not sure when to test vs to when anything will actually be detected either way!

Welcome @CatMarina! Everyone around me is super positive about and has good feelings for but I don’t want to set myself up with the disappointment of it doesn’t work so know exactly how you feel. Hope your scan goes well :)

@Novavee hope you get some progress soon! Time moves slower in TTC land I think.
Yes I’m very looking forward to tomorrow so I can say IVF starts next week! First time ever I’m excited for my period 😂

@CatMarina welcome! It really is an emotional ride. I have found the IVF Mindfulness app helpful. There are meditations for each phase of the process and when I find myself worked up into a lather, I put on "Gordon" (the voice of the meditations) and it helps! Glad to hear injections are getting easier.

@Novavee sorry to hear you're having to wait some more. It sounds like it's for the best but doesn't ease the anxious feelings. I hope this delay means your endometrium is ready for next month. x

@Girlwholifts you have such a lovely attitude and just wanted to say it's great to see you sticking around this thread because as you say, there's nothing to suggest it won't work the next time! Odds only go up after more than one round, I've seen.

@dogmam any word on when you'll be able to do your FET?

I did a fresh transfer yesterday of a day 3 eight cell grade 1 embryo. As I only have 3 embryos they wanted to go ahead transfer the best looker. Will get a call tomorrow on how my other two are doing. Crossing everything they can make it to blast and be frozen so I feel a slight easing of pressure. We decided before starting on one round of IVF to try for a sibling for our daughter.

So as you know I tested on Thursday (OTD) to a negative result. After closer inspection there may have been a very faint line (rose tinted glasses and all that)
I have tested again this morning, 1 test provided by Bourn Hall and 1 Clearblue. Turns out I may be pregnant after all 😯
Got to test again on day 22 so not getting our hopes up but trying to remain in camp positive for now!

@Girlwholifts was Friday your original test date ? That's amazing.

Mine said 2-3 weeks on Thursday night when I tested I tested the night before

@dogmam I don't think I done anything different as such I may of been a bit calmer cause I've been through it all before. I went for massage day before transfer don't know wether this helped xx

@Girlwholifts omg congratulations what a fabulous surprise and goes to show you’re not always out! 2-3 weeks is a very strong level of HCG so it must have grown a bit! What did you use to do initial test with?

@tmc2021 thanks lovely. I had my OTD in my head as Friday but it was Thursday on the paperwork. What did you use to test? Clearblue?

@dogmam 22nd day is this Thursday 🤞🏼I’m feeling fine obviously totally shocked but just staying positive.

@LS2020 I was given 2 starboard midstream test from the clinic which I used first time and along with this morning but went and bought the Clearblue 6day early digital just to see if the other tests were crap.
