Hi ☺️
Just starting up a little thread if anyone wants to join me on their FET journey for May/June. I've never had a FET cycle before and wondered if anyone was or is on their way with this journey to offer support and guidance x

@2mumlife I start injecting CD2 so no birth control ahead of the cycle. I think it's what they call short protocol but I'm also doing mild IVF.

Verbena87 · 13/05/2021 21:09

I think this protocol is slightly different to my last one but there seem to be so many variations anyway I’ve decided to just do what I’m told and try not to worry.

2mumlife · 14/05/2021 07:36

I'm on no birth control either (I haven't been for any of cycles). I'll be starting sometimes CD1-3 depending which day of the week AF comes.

Its crazy the number of different protocols isn't it? This is our first FET so I feel like its all new again!

Bluemeadowbaby · 14/05/2021 09:59

Hey ladies ☺️ hope you're all okay? Just caught up on your messages, very exciting to see there's some start ups going ahead very soon! How are you all feeling?
I had a dream of a rainbow last night (this has just jogged my memory!) it was soooo big and lovely I've never dreamt of them before - bizarre dreams after being up 3 hours with my little boy who would only sleep on me 🙃 I refuse to bring him to bed with me so my neck feels a bit stiff today from sitting in the chair 😂🙈
Little update from me - had my phone call this morning and they're happy for me to go ahead with FET! I'm so shocked!! They want me to have a period and then start norethisterone day 21 which I agree is probably the right thing to do even though I'd love to start it on 18th (cd21) this cycle was only a withdrawal bleed so even though it's frustrating, I know in my heart it's the right thing to do. Keep strong ladies x

@Bluemeadowbaby I’m really chuffed for you being able to go ahead. Fingers crossed your period will cooperate and the wait won’t be too long.

Currently waiting for results on a PCR test for my little boy, who’s developed a cough. If it’s a negative, I’m booked for my first dose of Pfizer next Wednesday and despite being a bit unsure I am so relieved to be booked with working in school. However, all being well covid wise I’m thinking next week might be a bit of a side-effect fest here with a vaccine on Wednesday then starting buserelin Friday. Fingers crossed for everything going smoothly.

2mumlife · 14/05/2021 11:25

@Bluemeadowbaby I'm so glad everything is good for you to still be going ahead with the cycle! Looks like I'm going to be the odd one out starting CD1 and one of the first to ET :O

@Verbena87 Hope its a negative test result for you (how weird saying that on this forum where its always the hope for positive test results!)

Hoping4baby21 · 14/05/2021 12:02

@Bluemeadowbaby excellent update! And glad your feeling positive about the little delay but as you said it is probably the best thing to do and you want to give yourself the best chance.

I think I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with all the uncertainty not just with IVF but with work and this bleeding pandemic. Trying not to focus on it and ride the wave.

On my way to my first acupuncture appointment so hoping that helps to mellow me out a bit aswell.

@Verbena87 wow that is a lot going on hope it all goes smoothly for you!

@2mumlife yep not too long now. I think we will be very close in schedule potentially exactly the same lol I should start injections on 18th as well.

Verbena87 · 14/05/2021 14:06

@2mumlife indeed - let’s hope it’s negative here for a bit of balance, then a load of positives over the next month or two. 👍🏼

@Hoping4baby21 the overwhelm is a real thing for sure. Accupuncture sounds great - you’ll be able to just be still and allow yourself to be in the headspace of preparing for a pregnancy rather than having to have a work front on, and I think there’s such a help. Have you spoken to people at work?

Sending calm to everyone.

2mumlife · 14/05/2021 14:57

@Hoping4baby21 Sorry if you've said before, but what drug goodies are you on? I'll be on fyremadel, lubion, elleste solo and Utrogestan. They're all brand new drugs to me, so lets see what rollercoater of side effects these ones bring! I'd be curious how you find acupunture (I've never tried it). I've been on a right mission to finish up all my work (I work in higher education so piles of marking) before AF comes, so that things are more relaxed for when we get going. I'm loving the mindful IVF app too for installing more of a sense of calm!

@Verbena87 Here's hoping!

Hoping4baby21 · 14/05/2021 15:36

@Verbena87 I've told them I'm having medical treatment and will have a number of appointments coming up but I don't feel comfortable to go into more details neither do I feel they are particularly supportive so I think that is also stressing me out a bit. If they try to pile things on I may have to go into more detail but I'm hoping that won't happen. If I could take the month off I would! I've gone down to part time to reduce stress from this place 🤦🏽‍♀️

I should have left my headphones in and listened to the mindful IVF app during my acupuncture will know for next time. The lady was really nice and knowledgable. Might do a mindful IVF session when I get in and diffuse some essential oils. I haven't used the app much struggle with sitting still sometimes.

@2mumlife Ok so my drug goodies (haha) are ovaleap, cetrotide and ovitrelle. Utrogestan pessaries for post transfer. What is the Lublion for, is that a stim shot?

Verbena87 · 14/05/2021 16:00

@Hoping4baby21 great that you’re part time (me too and I will never go back to full time ever - I’m so much better now I don’t have to be thinking about work all the time). Sorry they’re not supportive though, that’s rubbish. I think ‘gynae issues’ and a Paddington hard stare makes most people shut up if you don’t want to share (though telling the truth in brutal detail can be great too. Annoying friend of my husband asked how I was after my son was born so I said “lacerated” and he went so pale I thought he’d faint. Why ask if you don’t want to know?)

@2mumlife I’ve got suprecur, progynova and utrogestan. Different brand names but I think the same drugs for the tablets/pessaries, and I’ve had buserelin before.

Hoping4baby21 · 14/05/2021 16:33

@Verbena87 lmao!!! Good silly man.

Did the mindful IVF meditation feel a bit better just going to chill! Yes if they try to make me go back to full time I'm out! It's crazy that we typically work more than we don't anyway!

I'm also feeling a little guilty my husbands family were in the area yesterday (they live far away) but I didn't go because SIL has a new baby and I just don't want to upset myself. All the bloody feels at the moment.

Yeah all the meds are the same but different brands.

Gardenlady543 · 14/05/2021 20:05

Hi everyone!

I'm hoping May/June is going to be third time lucky for me and DH. I recognise a few names on this thread :)

We TTC for 12 months, we never got a BFP.

We had our fresh cycle in November/December 2020, we got 9 blasts, but I ended up with a diagnosis of progesterone hypersensitivity, the transfer went ahead but it was unsuccessful.

Transfer 2 was a FET in January/February 2021, the medications weren't nice, the estradiol made me vomit :( on the day of the transfer they thought my lining looked thin.

I then did:
-PGT-A testing and I have 5 euploid frosties

  • thrombophilia screen- 1 abnormal gene so I'm going to be on aspirin and heparin
  • autoantibodies - negative
  • ERA EMMA ALICE - there were issues getting the sample, it looked like lining was there but it wasn't. I am pre receptive, so will have more progesterone in my FET and shockingly I have 0.00% lactobacillus (good bacteria)
  • HSG to look for Ashermans after seeing Mr Trew, which was normal

I am now on antibiotics and will take probiotics for 10 days. I thought I would need to repeat the EMMA biopsy but my specialist said we could do a transfer and see how it goes. And I thought that sounded so much more appealing than spending the next 3 months doing another biopsy. So I'm due to start my next cycle with my period on around 22nd May. I'm hoping we've cracked it now my microflora should be better, but I'm worried there still could be lining issues.

Verbena87 · 14/05/2021 20:42

@Hoping4baby21 try not to fret about not seeing SIL - are they aware you’re about to embark on treatment? Either way she’ll have enough on her mind with a newborn and is unlikely to be too fussed, and it’s fine to be gentle with yourself and what you feel able to cope with.

@Gardenlady543 hiya! Crikey, it sounds like you’ve had quite a journey (and yes, estradiol was nauseating for me too - and I was sick through my whole last pregnancy. Hoping that 3 years on my body will decide estrogen is a friend, but who knows?). Nice to meet you, and lots of luck.

Gardenlady543 · 14/05/2021 20:55

Thanks @Verbena87 yeah it's feels like these investigations have been going on forever, so I was up for it when my specialist suggested doing a transfer Smile

2mumlife · 15/05/2021 08:09

@Hoping4baby21 Not being able to sit still is probably why the mindfulness app might help :) Lubion is a progesterone injection, I'm not on any stims/trigger as doing FET.

@Verbeba87 Yeah same stuff for tablets/pessaries, I should have been on progynova but there are shortages apparently so got moved to elleste - same deal, 2mg tablets 3 times a day.

Not loving this chat about estrodiol making everyone sick - add in the progesterone achy boobs and shits this sounds like a right laugh..... Confused

Hoping4baby21 · 15/05/2021 08:37

@2mumlife oh yes your doing a FET so it's slightly different. Yes I did a mindful ivf session and it did help.

@Verbena87 nope they knew we had started trying right at the beginning but haven't spoken about it since. I wouldn't tell them and my husband doesn't want to tell them at this stage. Only people that know are a few close friends.

I'm feeling a bit better today sometimes you just got to let it out.

@Gardenlady543 wow! That is a journey welcome and best of luck with your upcoming cycle!

starkid · 15/05/2021 09:36

Hi everyone!

Aged 31 and been trying for 3 years with no BFP, and had our first fresh cycle in January with 2 day 3 embryos transferred and 1 7 day blastocyst frozen, that round sadly failed to implant.

I'm having a FET transfer of our blastocyst next Tuesday 18th May. Lining was 11mm when they checked yesterday, not sure about layers though.

What food myths are people looking to take up before/after their transfers? I might get some pomegranate juice today...

Verbena87 · 15/05/2021 09:44

@2mumlife what I would say is last time the side effects started with meds and then I basically just felt permanently terribly hungover til baby was about a month old 🤣, probably best to just relax into it.

@Hoping4baby21 glad today is a bit brighter. One at a time!

@starkid hiya! I did drink pomegranate juice leading up to transfer last time but I think probably it just helped me feel a bit in control -your lining sounds lovely and comfy: lots of luck for Tuesday (nearly there!)

Negative covid test for my son thank goodness, so I’m on for a week of needles 😬.

Gardenlady543 · 15/05/2021 11:16

@starkid I had the ultimate fertility diet in my mock cycle, it made no difference. It's mostly important when building the lining, and yours sounds fine.

But I had:

  • Green smoothie: spinach, spiralina, strawberries, banana, flax seed, calcium powder, dried super berries, cashew milk
  • Brazil nuts
  • 1 glass pomegranate juice
  • 1 glass beetroot juice
  • Lunch with lots of grains

Lots of people go to McD for fries after the transfer, I'm not really into McD so I would say anything salty is fine. It will encourage you to stay well hydrated :)

There's also lots of people who feel staying warm is important especially the feet, so get some warm fluffy socks Smile

starkid · 15/05/2021 11:20

@Gardenlady543 - ah thank you, mcdonalds on the way home sounds good Grin I made the mistake of doing that after my egg collection previously and puked haha! That was a silly idea after general anaesthetic though

hopefulhel · 15/05/2021 14:55

Ladies, hoping I can join this thread. Had to do a freeze all cycle back in February due to the risk of OHSS. Had 16 egg retrieved. 13 mature of which 11 fertilised. Ended up with six good quality embryos on day five, having had my first FET yesterday transferring a 5AA embryo. Couldn't believe how quick the transfer was after weeks of medication. Back in the clinic on the 27th, advised to do a hpt on the 26th, if I can wait that long

2mumlife · 15/05/2021 16:18

@Verbena87 Most things I've had less side effects than expected - had no side effects from downregulation for example. But yes, I'll embrace all the side effects if it gets us there!

Welcome @hopefulhel @starkid!

Verbena87 · 15/05/2021 16:39

@2mumlife you may well feel fine - I’m a bit of a gillyflower and get sick from ibuprofen and some antibiotics, and my sister who didn’t have fertility treatment has been sick through all 4 of her pregnancies too. Fingers crossed you’ll feel grand.

Welcome @hopefulhel - keeping everything crossed for you.

Bluemeadowbaby · 15/05/2021 17:59

Hey ladies!! Yay to having you guys on board @hopefulhel @starkid @Gardenlady543 🥰 wishing you all the very best of luck! Personally for me the fertility diet didn't quite work - first cycle I had all the greens, fruit, pomegranate juice, nuts even a McDonald's after transfer but sadly that didn't pay off for me 🙈 second cycle I actually had the mindset of "screw this it isn't going to work!!" drank a nice big glass (or 2 of gin 🤤) during stims because I was just fed up and had a good old dominoes on transfer day which ended up a success 😂 safe to say dominoes was not my baby's biggest fan during pregnancy 🤢 but being healthy always does pay off in prepping your bodies so keep going ladies 🤞🏼
Very exciting to hear we have some precious little babes on board already!
Rooting for you all x
