@Mrbay i think you can do a private one or maybe ask your gP To do so! Both hsg and progesterone should be a good indicAtor of pregnancy progression. However i am not sure about levels of progesterone what should it be as with ivf is supplemented.
@Motherofkittens28 i am not sure how far you are after embryo transfer but i would suggest to wait until 12dpo at least.

Motherofkittens28 · 11/03/2021 12:48

@dragonfly1978 I did use an FRER but not first morning urine. Spotting is now increasing, although still very slight. I just feel in my gut that AF is coming, would love to be wrong!

@Hopeforsuccess I'm 5dp5dt so 10dpo I guess. I know its still early.

Mrbay · 11/03/2021 12:49

@Motherofkittens28 - still too early to be accurate, really the testing window is 9dp5dt to 12dp5dt. Your little embryo would have only just implanted today, or might still be trying to find the perfect spot. the earliest HCG is released into your pee is day 6 but even then a HPT may not pick this up.

@Hopeforsuccess - I'm not sure my GP would do it, I suppose I could always ask but then it gives me another thing to obsess over!

@Motherofkittens28 i completely agree with @Mrbay. Too early to test. Give it at least another 3-4 days the least

@Mrbay i knowwww hence maybe its best to not too.

Mancbear88 · 11/03/2021 15:51

@MrTumbleTumble I’m too scared to join the November one, I’m still expecting this to be a chemical pregnancy. I think I might join it if I make it a few weeks.
I’m going to be massively neurotic as I’m on so much drugs and my first pregnancy was a missed miscarriage.
But it’s been really good to have the support here so I think it would be good to join a new thread.

@Motherofkittens28 you’re far too early I’ve put a timeline on whilst some people implant early day 9 is when it’s expected. I only tested positive at 8dp5dt.

@Mancbear88, @Mrbay and @Hopeforsuccess, thank you, I know it was a stupid thing to do and I had promised myself I wasn't going to test until otd. I was telling myself it was just to see if the trigger was gone but of course it upset me when it was bfn

JessTTC · 11/03/2021 16:30

@Mrbay mine don’t do blood tests, only POAS at home but she did say on the phone earlier when I was panicking that there was potential for me to have blood tests next week if I was still bleeding, testing positive and for my own piece of mind. But only after official test day - odd that it’s not routinely used though isn’t it!

ThePurpleFairy · 11/03/2021 17:55

I have to say the back door club is not a club I ever thought I would say I’d be joining 😂!

I’ve had 2 glasses of Pom juice and 3 Brazil nuts today and I’ve just been for a short walk. Trying everything possible

Rachae · 11/03/2021 20:22

Hey @kitttycatt how are you doing? No, weirdly I didn't have a period! They measured my lining at 5mm and said apparently that was fine to start the stims. The Dr thinks my lining was 'paused' given I started down reg on day 2 of my period.
Obvs I'm now anxious every day that I'll come on anyway before or after egg collection!
Hope everyone's well xx

Rachae · 11/03/2021 20:24

Quick question for everyone who's been through EC and transfer... What are the mad things you recommend I eat or otherwise?! I clocked pineapple and mcdonald's chips so far!

Mancbear88 · 11/03/2021 20:52

@Rachae Not a food but lactolose and deflatine - tmi but the constipation post EC was the worst bit for me!! And warm socks, plus a hot water bottle.

Melissa1983 · 11/03/2021 21:13

@Rachae I am still having Brazil nuts and pomegranate juice. I have it in the house and was planning on doing it until the end of 2ww anyway and I had pineapple also for first 6 days after transfer. I had the McDonald's fries after transfer, wore nice cosy bed socks everyday and went for a small walk everyday also after transfer.

Rachae · 11/03/2021 21:32

Oo thanks both! What's the deal with the bed socks? Xx

IVFat43 · 11/03/2021 22:16

Well I learnt today just how much privately funded ivf costs! The hidden costs that no one tells you about is an absolute disgrace!

I thought over prescribing medication that went to waste costing £400 was bad enough..

Having paid for PGT-A I was told the cycle fee would cost £1,150 (what exactly is this fee?) I then paid for 5 embryos for biopsy £1,475.. what they don’t tell you that a further charge for ET is on top of this.. £2k plus HEFA fee £80! Had I know PGT-A would cost £4.7k I would never have opted for it, but put that money to a second IVF round..

I’ve never been told or read beforehand that I would incur this fee..! As I’d paid the IVF and the PGT fee I thought this was all one cycle and covered ET...

In total, we’ll have paid £11k for one round of IVF and no embryos in the bank! No wonder people remortgage their homes!

It’s day light robbery and I’m so angry they just drop a £2.1k charge at short notice and expect to pay it or ask “would you like to wait a month or two” 🤬

Hopeforsuccess · 12/03/2021 00:05

Quick question to all As i am freaking out:
Are you taking clexane for your ivf cycle and what dose?
I was prescribed 2000 IU for a previous and probably mixed it with my current one and just realised that the current one is 4000 IU. Now i am freaking out that i fucked it up.

MrTumbleTumble · 12/03/2021 06:59

@IVFat43 We're at the same clinic and we complained about the lack of transparency regarding costings last year. I was completely shocked by how many hidden "add ons" they do to bring the cost up. 1 cycle of IVF is advertised at £3.5k and admittedly we do need donor sperm which most people don't, which is an extra £1k, but all in our last fresh cycle cost £8.5k.

And then of course they have you over a barrel because at the stage you're at, you either pay them for embryo transfer or you pay someone else. Hopefully this one is successful for you and you don't need to worry about future costs 🤞

Mrbay · 12/03/2021 07:46

Morning Girls!

@Motherofkittens28 - I hope you are feeling a bit better this morning.

@JessTTC - that's really good of them - mine won't offer any bloods but it's ok, at the moment I am pregnant and I am starting to relax a little.

@ThePurpleFairy - it is the best club to join!! is your ET today?

@Rachae - don't worry the drugs will take over your natural response.
I didn't really do anything special for this round, during stims I ate/drank as much protein as I could handle - daily eggs to grow my eggs!
After EC, I just kept hydrated and made sure that I had a hot water bottle.
After ET - I laid down for 5/10 mins, watched a stand up video so I was proper laughing, had a McDs breakfast, went shopping and then had a Mc Ds lunch! I went for a really long walk the day after and tried to walk a few hours each day there after. Oh and I always had socks or slippers on, apparently it helps the blood flow to the uterus.
Most of all, try to just take each day as it comes and if you want a treat - have it!

@IVFat43 - that is terrible, surely that doesn't follow HEFA protocol? I would write a complaint as thinking you are around £5k for the round plus testing, then having to spend an additional £6k most people wouldn't be able to find that kind of money instantly.

@Hopeforsuccess - didn't want to read and run, not used that drug personally, but give your clinic a call as they will be able to advise on what to do on a potential overdose.

Morning! @Mrbay no it’s on Tuesday at 11:30. Got a few more sleeps yet! I tried to book a hotel as the hospital is 173 miles away but they need a letter. I’ve emailed to try and get one but might as well be talking to myself, so looking like 8 hours in the car all day it is! How are you doing?

FirstTimeIVFers · 12/03/2021 08:19

I’m 3dp5dt and I have had like niggly sort of period pain feelings most days. It’s not constant.
Should I call my clinic? Or is this normal?

Rachae · 12/03/2021 08:24

Thanks @Mrbay sounds like a lot of nice things 😊
@Hopeforsuccess I'm prescribed clexane injections up until 30 weeks (when successful!)... But I don't start until I get a positive pregnancy test. I got this because of reoccurent miscarriage. Are you the same? Just wondered what day your Dr asked you to start x

IVFat43 · 12/03/2021 08:28

@MrTumbleTumble
Who did you complain too, was it the clinic or HEFA? It’s wrong on so many levels and I feel such high costs should be discussed upfront to give couples a true picture before committing..
This year prices have increased too.. it’s a rip off! So by the sounds of it, you did stay with them?

dragonfly1978 · 12/03/2021 08:37

@IVFat43 I have complained to the clinic, the HFEA, the CQC and the DHSC about my clinic for many reasons but costs and what could constitute fraud being one of them. The HFEA have been good so far, I only wrote on Monday and they have already responded. I have paid £14k for two cycles with no PGTA and completely agree with you re hidden costs, the issue I had was around ICSI - I consented to it on my first cycle as there were issues with my husbands sample but didn't consent for the second round unless his sperm remained abnormal - the sample was within all normal parameters but they used ICSI without my agreement and then demanded I pay £2000 for it or wouldn't do ET!!

MrTumbleTumble · 12/03/2021 08:44

@IVFat43 I complained to the clinic director. I didn't think about complaining to the HFEA to be honest, but we did feel very deceived.

We did stay with them, firstly because we'd already paid for some costs so had to continue with the (fresh IVF) cycle, then because they had our frozen embryos. I know they can be moved but I knew that if they failed I would always wonder if it was because they were moved. This fresh round we said was going to be our last (mainly because to date we have spent £45k and can't justify any more. We have one DC from a previous cycle and got a BFP from this cycle so that will hopefully be for 2 children!) so we felt like moving might mean that the lessons learned from previous cycles might have been for nothing.

It's a hard choice to make though.

Hopeforsuccess · 12/03/2021 08:53

@Mrbay thanks! I appreciate it! @Rachae i started the same day as progesterone and its standard practise for my clinic until 8-12 weeks. The standard dose is 20mg
But i am not sure why they gave me 40mg.
Maybe as its my second try? Or because i had bleeding very early in my previous cycle? Regardless i didnt do what i was told and was getting a lower dose! I am waiting for the them to get back to me. 40mg is prophylactic dose eitther way.
@MrTumbleTumble and @IVFat43 i am so sorry that on top of the IVF stress you also had this with the costs. HFEA will
Be the best place to complain as this is unacceptable!

IVFat43 · 12/03/2021 09:29

@MrTumbleTumble @Mrbay @dragonfly1978 @Hopeforsuccess
Thanks for the comments, I’m not surprised to read your stories...

I’ve just noticed in small print having rereading my protocol that there will also be an additional charge if the embryos fail the thaw for £1200... omg 😳

So I could end up with a new bill for 3280...

I feel like I should never have opened Pandora’s Box!
