Is anyone starting ivf in March/April?
Have had confirmation today I will be starting treatment in March. Been prescribed norethisterone, which I have to take CD21 of my next period (due next week).

Hazza2021 · 07/03/2021 21:39

@Donimo @beachbum85 my first stim injection went okay thank you. Glad I got that out the way. I dropped down the buserelin from 50 to 20 and I’m on 150
Gonal f. I’m trying to get my 2 litres of water down me but I’m not a water drinker so I’m finding it quite challenging.

beachbum85 · 07/03/2021 21:44

@Hazza2021 glad it was OK! That is a lot of water when it's not even warm outside... Good luck! Hopefully you'll get used to it soon.

@TTCbabyH how are you doing? I seem to remember you were around the same week...

@Narwhal88 thank you! I definitely will :)

@Orsh any news from your end?

Peachthepiglet · 07/03/2021 22:37

Hello everyone. Hope you don’t mind another member of this thread! I am 31 and due to start stimulants (menopur then fyremadel) for my first round of icsi on day 2 of my cycle which should either start tomorrow or Tuesday. I have suffered with hypothalamic amennorhea for the last 5 years and we have MFI. Wishing everyone luck!

Orsh · 08/03/2021 07:21

Good morning All,
My period arrived on Friday and I left a voicemail for the hospital straight away. Got very excited. It didn't last long, cause they called back shortly after and I faced another disappointment. They said they will send me the meds and a nurse will call me in about 10 days. It's good news, however when I tried to ask questions I was told that she hasn't even looked at my papers, therefore she had no idea, a nurse will before they call me. When I explained that recently I was told that I might be able to start stims straight away, she had no idea.
So no information given again.
But at least I know that I will start down reg this month.

I hope everyone is doing well.

6543336787gesgvjhg · 08/03/2021 11:00

@Orsh don't be disappointed it will all come together. I remember calling to say I'd come on (February period) and someone would call me within 3 working days, as it was over a weekend 5 days later got a call from the nurse, got my list of meds, they instructed Stork to arrange delivery and now I've got my meds and due to start this Friday (fingers crossed period arrives on time). How are you feeling about it all?

Hello @Peachthepiglet welcome. I'm 31 too although 32 next Friday 😟 I'm on a short protocol start menopur 150 on day two which will hopefully be this Friday. I'm then on cetrotide. How you feeling about it all?

beachbum85 · 08/03/2021 11:17

@Orsh I'm so sorry you couldn't start on the short protocol right away! That and the lack of info must be really frustrating... I remember being quite upset that an extra thyroid test delayed me by just a couple of weeks in December, but as @6543336787gesgvjhg said, it'll come together. I hope the next couple of weeks fly for you, and I felt that the appt with the nurse really helped with getting questions answered.

@6543336787gesgvjhg glad to hear you're starting very soon and fingers crossed that your period will be on time! How are you feeling?

@Peachthepiglet welcome, and sorry to hear about your hypothalamic amennorhea. I should also be starting stimulation sometime after Tues, hopefully (long protocol with Gonal F though).

Best of luck to all!
Thinking of you at your scans @ZoZoeee123 and @Ganiyatou, and especially @Margwit at your egg collection x

PurpleUnicorn01 · 08/03/2021 11:22

Hi Guys, i hope your scans and egg collections go well.

@Peachthepiglet. Welcome!

@hazza2021 @beachbum85 @donimo @orsh @6543336787gesgvjhg

How are you all?

I finally have my first gynaecology appointment tmrw. Woohoo.

Peachthepiglet · 08/03/2021 11:59

Thanks everyone. Yes im ok but obviously frustrated with the endless waiting between steps + uncertainty which im sure we all must feel! Glad we are hopefully at the final steps now. Also a bit worried about getting my hopes up too much and if the stimulants will make me feel really rubbish. Is everyone working from home and doing ok in lockdown? Its difficult to work out if its a good or bad thing as whilst being at home makes it easier if i feel rubbish from the drugs, there is nothing really to distract me and make the time go faster.

IVFbabyF · 08/03/2021 13:35

@Orsh I think we are on the same timeline. I called them this morning to let them know I started day 1 at the weekend and have been advised I will receive appointment dates within the next 7-10 days however I need to go in and collect norethisterone to start on day 21. Does anyone know how long you take norethisterone for?

PurpleUnicorn01 · 08/03/2021 13:42

@Peachthepiglet yes i can imagine it is tough. You want to get excited but you don't want to be disappointed at the same time. That's totally relatable.

Im working from home. I think its better tbh. Ive not started treatment yet but i should imagine its great being at home so at least you can nap when you want lol

ZoZoeee123 · 08/03/2021 15:34

@Noirberry19 Thank you for the well wishes. Wishing you all the best for your journey too.

@beachbum85 Thank you. Glad you are finding your medication ok so far. I'm finding it ok thanks. Just a bit bloated. I'm just waiting on a blood test from this morning to check I'm ok for egg collection on Wednesday! Wishing you the best of luck with everything. I work in a hospital so I've started working at home for a bit too.

@Peachthepiglet Welcome! That's great that you will be starting soon. I'm currently on my first cycle of ICSI and hoping for egg collection this week.

@Orsh Sorry to hear that things have been delayed. That sounds really frustrating. Glad you will be starting the down reg soon though. Hope it all goes well for you.

Just a quick question, is egg collection pretty quick and painless? I don't really know what to expect other than sedation so I presume it will be ok!

Hope you are all doing ok x

AnonymousXXIX · 08/03/2021 16:24

@Orsh omg that sounds so frustrating! :( :( But thank you for sharing, because now I know to be aware of something like that.

elsaesmeralda · 08/03/2021 16:39

@ZoZoeee123 for me, sedation knocked me straight out. I remember feeling one of the loveliest fuzziest feelings ever as they injected the drugs and then next thing I woke up, so didn't feel a thing during. It was painful but I had 17 eggs collected so don't know if that contributed to it, it's like a bloated pain, like trapped wind that gets worse when you lye down, and obviously any sudden movements hurt your ovaries! Worst of the pain was for about three days then felt much better. Hot water bottle and strong painkillers would be my tip 💕

elsaesmeralda · 08/03/2021 16:40

@ZoZoeee123 that was meant to say it was painful after

Lou8319 · 08/03/2021 16:50

Hello all, it’s my first Short protocol cycle. Currently on 4th day of stims (ovaleap), and so far so good.

Like everyone else, nervous about what’s coming!

Our story: tried on and off for 4 years, one natural pregnancy ending in miscarriage 18 months ago. Tests show absolutely nothing wrong with either myself or DH. Docs said we’re just unlucky. But times not on our side.

beachbum85 · 08/03/2021 18:23

@PurpleUnicorn01 good luck with your appointment tomorrow, that's exciting! Let us know how it goes :)
I'm well thanks and looking forward to my scan tomorrow morning

@Peachthepiglet I'm working from home and finding it hard to distract myself too, but I do think it makes it a lot easier with logistics around appointments and medication and side effects. I also shift between getting really hopeful, and thinking of all the potential failure points and reminding myself that this is just our first round... I guess it's normal but I'm trying to embrace the positive thoughts :)

@ZoZoeee123 I hope the results come back as you need them to for egg collection on Wed! Good luck x

"one of the loveliest fuzziest feelings ever"
@elsaesmeralda thanks for this, at least something to look forward to before the pain and the stressful moments that must follow :)

@Lou8319 hello! Glad you've started and are feeling fine so far... I guess we all have to live with the nerves over the next few weeks, but it's good to know I'm not going crazy feeling like this

Peachthepiglet · 08/03/2021 18:56

@beachbum85 yes I guess overall it is positive! We are at kings fertility in London and live about 15 minute walk away which really helps as can kinda sneak away from the ‘desk’ without colleagues noticing. Also my other half is usually v busy at work and away from home a lot so it’s nice he is here all the time to share the process.

Currently waiting for my withdrawal bleed to start so can start stimulants. For once it appears to be taking its sweet time. Feeling impatient!

granddesigns · 08/03/2021 20:25

Hi all - can I join you slightly late in the day?! We've been stimming with a cocktail of drugs and had egg collection today - amazingly we got 17 eggs! Waiting to hear what happened with how many were mature and fertilised with ICSI when they call tomorrow. ET scheduled for Sat.

Back story is MFI and second cycle - first fresh stopped by Covid, first FET ended in miscarriage and second FET negative in Dec. Joining a thread now that the first phase is out of the way to keep sane in lead up to transfer and 2ww!

elsaesmeralda · 08/03/2021 20:29

Hi @granddesigns welcome! sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Great number of eggs - I had the same amount it's nice to hear of someone else with the same ! We also used icsi and 11 fertilised so fingers crossed for you - with that amount of eggs there's always a good chance of a decent amount ! Wishing you all the best for Saturday 🤞🏻🤞🏻

ZoZoeee123 · 08/03/2021 20:35

@elsaesmeralda thank you for the info. It's good to know that I shouldn't feel anything during the procedure! It's good to know what to expect afterwards too thank you. Hope you are getting on ok with your injections. x

@Lou8319 Welcome! Glad you are getting on ok with your treatment so far. I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage x

@beachbum85 Thank you! Blood test result showed level was high but am ok for egg collection. Just waiting on Covid swab result which I'm really worried even though I haven't really been anywhere! Hope you are still getting on ok x

@Peachthepiglet I hope you are able to start your stims soon. x

@granddesigns welcome! That's a great number of eggs! Hope you are feeling ok. I'm hopefully have my collection on Wednesday and having ICSI too. Wishing you all the best for the transfer. I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage x

Donimo · 08/03/2021 21:08

Hi @ZoZoeee123 and @Ganiyatou how did your scans go today?

@beachbum85 good luck for scan tomorrow. Let us know how it goes.

@Margwit how did your egg collection go?

Welcome @Peachthepiglet (hope your period arrives soon and you can start) and @Lou8319 (hope you are getting ok with your injections) and @granddesigns (thats a great number, hope they fertilise well).

@Orsh sorry for your frustrations, I was delayed a cycle last month, and I was really annoyed. You get yourself prepared for something. But at least you have a specific plan now and a confirmed date to start.

@6543336787gesgvjhg glad you have everything sorted to start soon. And are you starting on your birthday did you say?

@PurpleUnicorn01 good luck for your appointment tomorrow. Let us know how it goes

6543336787gesgvjhg · 08/03/2021 21:32

@Donimo how is everything with you?

Period is due Thursday husbands birthday and due to start the day after for stims on our wedding anniversary. March is our favourite month so I'm holding that with LOADS of positivity haha. I've got bad period cramps so I'm hoping it arrives on time.

@PurpleUnicorn01 good luck for tomorrow.

Hope everyone else is ok.

Great we are all here together.

Hard to keep up with everyone but sending lots of luck and love 😁

RedFaerieBoots · 08/03/2021 22:48

Hey how is everyone doing?

Bleed arrived at the weekend so after a call this morning started stimms (menopur). First scan is booked for next Monday.

Is anyone else shielding during treatment?

Itsjustme2021 · 09/03/2021 01:42

@Donimo thanks for following up. Period showed up on Saturday. Whoop whoop.
Also messaged clinic for a baseline scan, waiting to hear back.
Buserelin injections have finally gotten easier. I no longer dread injection time 🤪
Also, no side effects which I’m kind of chuffed about. I had pms at the run up to my period and I almost thought I was having side effects but now they are all gone.
I hope everyone is well & staying safe x

granddesigns · 09/03/2021 11:26

Thank you for the welcome and kind words. Feeling much less sore this morning and slept quite well last night which helped and had the call from the embryologist that we have 9 embryos that fertilised normally and are being monitored from our 17 eggs. Fingers crossed they all behave!

I'll try and come up to speed on the stories and stages on here over the next few days (in my post pessaries and progesterone injection times!)
