@foodiefil In some people’s circumstance embryo banking is performed. My friend has a low AMH and is doing this, as @Bells3032 DH is experiencing side effects on medications it is probably a good idea to bank. This means that they can collect as many eggs as possible as her AMH will decline over time and her partner can come off the medication asap. If a transfer is successful, then it will be quite some time before more could be collected, hopefully they have got enough to have a child and siblings already, but the more they can bank, the better chance of success statistically.

My update is that the embryologist called me and said they’ve booked in the PGT-A testing for a week tomorrow, they will thaw the embryos, they then will do the procedure over 1-2 days as the embryos need to be hatched and they can need to do assisted hatching. This means I won’t be able to use glue in the future. The results then come back in 2-3 weeks. My specialist won’t arrange another protocol until the results are back which means I will have to wait at least 2 months for a transfer, so I’m going to push for an ERA. I may was well use this time to get as much information as possible in the hope of success moving forward.

kikisparks · 15/02/2021 12:57

@Bells3032 congrats on your results! Embryo banking seems common in the States but not much of a thing in the U.K. as far as I know, but it sounds like it could make sense in your circumstances. I’m with an NHS clinic and we have to transfer everything (generally one at a time) before a further fresh transfer. We only want one child anyway so the approach doesn’t bother me in general but it’s frustrating from a time point of view.

kikisparks · 15/02/2021 13:00

@Gardenlady543 I’m glad you’ve got a plan and it sounds like a productive way to spend the next couple of months, giving yourself the best chance of success for your next transfer.

Sunbird24 · 15/02/2021 13:01

@Bells3032 in your circumstances I’d give my body a 2 month break to recover then do another round. Would you have 2 transferred together to try for twins if the clinic allowed and you had enough embryos?

Bells3032 · 15/02/2021 13:04

@Sunbird24 no I'm too young for them to. Allow 2. I wouldn't of had it anyway I have a family full of twins and I know how hard it is. Obv if the eggs splits and I end. Up with twins id still be happy but prefer not. I keep joking I must be one if the few people with less chance of having twins for ivf Grin

Sunbird24 · 15/02/2021 13:08

@Bells3032 that’s fair. I’m having a FET with 2 this week but I’m 43. If both stick I’ll be hiring help!

You’ve got good numbers from this round, wishing you the very best of luck for a baby Bell or two!

Gardenlady543 · 15/02/2021 13:13

Thanks @kikisparks it’s a bit upsetting, I went into IVF thinking, this is a different approach to natural conception, this will work and this is like hitting another hurdle. But I don’t want to waste each embryo with trial and error, with this one that was implanted- it was 1,1 10/10 and hatched as soon as it was thawed, so I mean it was clearly very vigorous, I just can’t see why it would suddenly arrest when transferred into me unless there’s something wrong with me. Now I have to worry about some of the embryos being euploid, but I guess the PGT-a testing doesn’t change the situation, if they’re found to be aneuploid then they would have been aneuploid anyway, better to find out early I guess.

IVFat43 · 15/02/2021 13:13

@Bells3032 we are at the same position, 5 embryos off for PGT-A testing and awaiting the results. Not sure of the grades, but we had 15 fertilised (9 grade 1, 4 grade 2, 2 grade 3), ended with 5, so you did amazingly well, you should be so happy with those results with everything you and your partner have gone through.

I would wait until you get the results personally. You may have 5 perfect embryos that pass PGT-A... and as you can only transfer 1, you’ll have 4 further opportunities for a sibling if you’re successful 1st time. If results come back with say 2 perfect, then weigh up the chances.. but I get where you’re coming from, if you have 1 plant your DH will be on meds for an additional 12mths minimum through pregnancy until you’re ready for ivf2..

What about freezing his sperm?

foodiefil · 15/02/2021 13:27

@Gardenlady543 understood!

Could they freeze your DH's sperm? We've been able to do that @Bells3032

foodiefil · 15/02/2021 13:28

@Gardenlady543 good luck with all of that, good that things are moving again even though it's slow and disappointing ❤️

IVFat43 · 15/02/2021 13:30

So sorry @Gardenlady543 to hear what you’re going through, think you’ve done the right thing testing them as it will eliminate future heartache and allow you time to prepare, I think you’ve been so unlucky and I hope you’ll have positive news coming your way 🤞🤞 both with PGT and ERA.. Hope the exam went well x

RichmondLady1981 · 15/02/2021 14:58

@Bells3032 I think I would do another round as you said. You’ve had an amazing result there! Take full advantage of your situation now where you are producing great blasts. If time is of the essence do it now- you’ll be so grateful later on. Preserve your fertility! 😁 x

Sunbird24 · 15/02/2021 21:00

@IVFat43 just got the invoice in advance for my FET, it’s £1230 including the £80 HFEA fee. That’s for a natural cycle with no drugs. Sure there’s likely to be progesterone added onto that afterwards though.

IVFat43 · 15/02/2021 21:54

@Sunbird24 thanks for that, I’ve been on their website searching through the price list, it looks like £2k 🤔 but I’m going to ring and confirm.. I’ve got drugs left over but try Asda if you haven’t already..much cheaper!

Gardenlady543 · 15/02/2021 22:00

@Sunbird24 that’s a really good price, what clinic are you with? Most clinics seem to charge about the same, mine used to charge £1600 but the price went up to £2000 in January and looking at a few other clinics, the prices all seem to be in the £2000 range and that’s without any medications. And I definitely agree about ASDA, I would only ever get my meds from there these days.

Sunbird24 · 15/02/2021 23:03

@Gardenlady543 that’s with CARE Fertility. I’ve been quite lucky as my doctors surgery agreed to do all my blood tests to save me paying for them, including the great long list for multiple miscarriages, because I’ve had a blighted ovum on both my pregnancies, one natural and one from fresh transfer after ivf. A full IVF cycle with donor sperm cost me about £8k, but the sperm was about £1400!

foodiefil · 16/02/2021 11:36

@kikisparks how are you feeling? You're a couple of days ahead of me just wondering if I should be feeling anything or have any symptoms?

Hope everyone is doing ok x

Folklore9074 · 16/02/2021 11:48

Really interested to hear if anyone else is having any TWW symptoms. I’m 8dt5dp and apart from a few slight twinges/cramps which I’m putting down to the progesterone not feeling anything at all and starting to feel really sad. OTD is Friday. Sad

Tarsette · 16/02/2021 11:52

@Folklore9074 same here...I’m 7dp5dt and will wait until Thursday to test but I’m not feeling anything so not very hopeful (even though my rational brain knows that there aren’t always symptoms)... out of curiosity, did any of the BFP ladies get implantation bleeding? I’ve never had that...

kikisparks · 16/02/2021 12:05

@foodiefil I’m a bit anxious today, also I’ve been trying to go to bed earlier but I’m still really tired. Really want some caffeine but not going to have any.

I have some cramping but I personally don’t really set any store by symptoms at this stage as I think it’s too early, both times I was pregnant (although both were early miscarriages) as far as I can recall the symptoms came after my expected period date or OTD. Plus if I had any now I’d just put it down to the drugs. Are you feeling anything? Hope you’re ok too, the TWW seems so long! I really wanted to test today as even though it’s so, so early some people do get positives, I’m trying my hardest to hold out til Saturday. Keep reminding myself I’ll feel awful if it’s negative.

@Tarsette I had bleeding with my first, natural pregnancy, it was at the time my period was due and actually heavy enough that I thought it was a light period but then it stopped and a few days later i noticed I needed to go to the loo more so I tested and it was positive test. I’ve never been sure if that was due to implantation or low progesterone (unfortunately I started bleeding again and miscarried a few days later). My most recent pregnancy after fresh IVF transfer I didn’t bleed at all until I started to miscarry.

foodiefil · 16/02/2021 12:13

I'm only 2dp5dt and willing symptoms to come on. I'm having the odd twinge or cramp but like you say thinking it's progesterone. My boobs have got bigger but that could be hormone/increased chocolate consumption related rather than anything else.

I think you're right @kikisparks it's too early for anything. We're just all hyper aware. My OTD is a week today. Hope the anxious feeling subsides xxx

Folklore9074 · 16/02/2021 12:19

@Tarsette yes I’ve read that there are not always symptoms and it makes sense that you would experience v little until a missed period. Keep telling myself if this was happening naturally I’d have no idea that I even could be pregnant. I’m not going to test before my OTD either.

jonrik · 16/02/2021 13:40

I have had absolutely zero symptoms and had a BFP. In fact, I'm now 15dp5dt and still absolutely nothing. I now have to wait 3.5weeks for my first scan. Even though it's great feeling fine, if you have some symptoms at least you know things are happening in your body! To be fair though, I had no symptoms in my first pregnancy either apart from being very tired from week 6 onwards. I suppose you can't really read much into symptoms as it's so individual anyway

thirteen92 · 16/02/2021 13:42

@Folklore9074 I didn’t experience any implantation bleeding.

Today is OTD for us and we got our 2-3 weeks on a clear blue digital. For the past 5 or so days I’ve had such bad stomach pains it hurts to sneeze, roll over! It felt like I’d pulled a muscle. It wore off a tad yesterday (12dp5dt). I’ve also felt quite nauseous the past 3 days. My bloat is unreal, I’m going to try some peppermint tea. Progesterone is the devil!

foodiefil · 16/02/2021 13:59

Thanks @jonrik that's interesting. Congrats on your BFP :) glad you're feeling fine but I hear you! Wish we could see inside of ourselves.

yay @thirteen92 but sorry about your stomach pain.xx
