Trying IVF again for baby #2

Took 4 years to have my first baby, including 4 rounds of IVF. She arrived last summer and hoping to get two rounds in this year. I'm breastfeeding atm so will be stopping that next month, trying naturally for a few months to appease DH (it'll never work), and cracking on with a round in before my birthday as I'll be turning 38 this year.

I found IVF a very tortuous slog the first time around. Kind of feels different now that we are a family and trying for a sibling. Have suffered with a bit of PND over be last few months so hoping IVF doesn't set me back but I feel super excited to get going tbh!

Going to contact Access Fertility soon to find out what packages they can offer us.

@whatcangowrong sorry, I shouldn’t have compared the costs. It’s stressful enough anyway, without thinking about the money side. That’s good news that you won’t need to wait too long and be in limbo.

All went fine with my transfer. Although the embryo was only a 1AB. I’m sure they had said before, that the number was the size. But that seems so low. My DD was a 3AA. Oh well. It is what it is! X

Don't worry at all about cost comparison. I think my gynae is almost ARGC prices, I went on recommendation of a friend not having checked the cost, but I won't change now as she helped us have our first. You can't take it with you as they say.

Welcome @BuffyFanForever How many cycles did you do to get your boys? I bet they are lots of fun! Hope your tests go well and that you can start soon.

@whatcangowrong I’m 32 but have a strong family history of very early menopause (28-30 ). My boys are just over 3 months and came 2 months early! I had12 rounds of iui, 1 egg collection and i think it was 5 FETS...all abit of a blur now. I over reacted to the meds and got ossh (hsso-sorry can’t remember the acronym now!) last time. Not sure if I’m doing the right thing but wanted to just see if it’s even an option now.... weirdly I got my first period the day after my consultation so that felt like abit of an omen!

Dropped of this thread for a while when my phone suddenly took a dislike to mumsnet and it wouldn't display properly. One update later and it's ok again now!

I had my EC yesterday, it all felt very quick, I only ended up stimming for 9 days and due to the way weekends fell, only had one scan!
Anyway they managed 6 eggs, and heard today that 5 were mature and 4 fertilised so I'm pretty happy with that as it's double our fertilisation rate from 3 years ago!
So we're on for a 5 day transfer on Tuesday so feeling quietly optimistic at this stage which again makes a change from last time where I was a wreck with the knowledge all our hopes were pinned on just two embryos!

Does anyone else have a clinic where they won’t do fresh transfers? Mine won’t let us do anything apart from FETS. We arn’t there yet as only had our AMH bloods and AFC scan today but wondering if any clinics have this same policy?

@BuffyFanForever not come across that, although haven't had the opportunity to freeze previously.

At Care I got asked to confirm yesterday that I was wanting a fresh transfer suggesting they are used to people doing freeze all cycles.

@BuffyFanForever my clinic does fresh transfers. And as far as I know, they are doing them after COVID restrictions too... it may have changed. I last had a fresh transfer 3 years ago though.

So, I’m 2dp6dt. Obviously nothing exciting going on! 😂

@BeHereNowx32 i never really understand the different gradings that they use, it would be so much easier if clinics all used the same scale!

Well officially pupo, with one top quality blast on board, one for the freezer with another one being left for another day to see if it can also be frozen.

I'm a bit bemused by it all this time, such a different outcome to before.

I’m struggling today. Was getting lots of symptoms. They have stopped now and I’m just tired and grumpy. Was up a lot during the night tho

Sorry to hear today hasn't been a good one @BeHereNowx32 When's your test day? I didn't have any symptoms when I got my positive and was blown away. Keep strong and busy, it's hard, I know ❤️

My period showed up today and i have my my down reg scan on Thursday so I'm hoping I can start stims very soon. Can't wait to get onto the next step now...

I did have symptoms when I fell pregnant with DD, but they weren’t obvious. It’s hard not to compare.

Ok at the moment, DH ridiculously excited which doesn't really help. I know he just assumes it's going to work because it did last time

Otd still a bit of a way off so just trying not to think about it too much, hard when my phone buzzes multiple times a day with the drug reminders!

I think I definitely suffered from 'it worked before' optimism on the last transfer, but now I'm the other end of the spectrum and feel like this next transfer is basically a waste of time and money. It's a day 6 hatching CB (or a 3 2 at CARE) blast (previous I've transferred have been at least BB). I have basically finished the internet on embryo grading, and concluded it doesn't have much hope. Anyone got any positive stories on crap embryos to share?
