IVF February/March 2021

Hi

I’m due to start IVF mid February depending on when my period in January starts.
Had a fresh cycle end of august which sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in October.
I only had that one embryo so will be starting a new fresh cycle.

Would love to chat to any ladies starting then as I found the chats really helpful during my first round.

@Anjenla how did EC go? Are you feeling ok? Great number of eggs!

@CLP20 my healthy eating has totally gone out the window this week! I've been too ill to be bothered. So I've just eaten what I fancy.

The nurse said I probably do have mild OHSS, but I feel a lot better today. So hoping by tomorrow I might feel nearly normal. As I've only got one symptom they don't seem that concerned, so I can continue my transfer as planned.

Motherofkittens28 · 19/02/2021 12:30

@Hop27 I get you, based on my down regulation scan im expecting similar numbers but hopefully you get 4 good mature eggs, which is better than loads that aren't mature, your body will have been focusing on these and giving them everything!

Motherofkittens28 · 19/02/2021 12:31

Im getting twinges in my ovaries and feeling quite "full" now, hopefully that means something is happening!

hopefulhel · 19/02/2021 12:50

Just got a call from the clinic. Have to go to the main clinic on Monday for a scan so fingers crossed for egg collection on Wednesday or Thursday

Anjenla · 19/02/2021 12:51

@Kitttycatt EC went really smoothly. I was a bit nervous beforehand but within seconds of getting into theatre I was knocked out and the next thing I knew I was back in the recovery room! No pain or bleeding so far and an afternoon of Netflix awaits!

CLP20 · 19/02/2021 13:48

@Anjenla So pleased your EC went well - great numbers!

@Kitttycatt Glad I’m not the only one! 😂
That all sounds really positive for tomorrow. Let us know how it goes.

Looks like lots of ECs next week!

thetallgirl · 19/02/2021 13:54

Sounds like there has been lots of good scans today! Great news! @Anjenla sounds like a good EC. I'm a little nervous for the anaesthetic because I've never had any before, but yours sounds like a good experience. Fingers crossed all of ours are like that.

My scan this morning was positive. 5 follicles on the right, one of which is at 14. 8 follicles on the left, including a 14 and two 13s. Ended up having 3 nurses in there with me and even though I went to the loo as soon as I got there, they all commented on my full bladder Grin oops. Hopefully I can do that again at transfer time when transfer (hopefully) comes around.

Next scan on Monday but they were very non-committal with when EC might be. Said it could be anytime from Weds next week to early the week after!

GingerBrummie · 19/02/2021 14:01

Hi all,
wow so much activity! Great to see things are happening for us.
@RichmondLady1981 great sizes & brilliant that they are all of similar stage. Re tips.. I sometimes put my legs up against a wall for 5 mins during the 2ww to help with lining & blood flow to uterus.

@Kitttycatt Best of luck for tomorrows ET, let us know how you get on.
@hopefulhel amazing numbers, well done!
@Hop27 fingers crossed & good luck x
@Mrbay great tip thanks!! Grin
@Blessing12 hope you are feeling more reassured now x
@willithappen great! Lots of ECs next week then!

Im also back from my 3rd stimms scan plus another hormonal blood test. I will get a call later today to confirm if I need another scan on Mon but EC should be next Tues or Wed. My lining is good, I had 18 follicles on left & 13 on right but lots are v small so not worth counting. I have perhaps 5 decent sizes ranging around 15 to 11 but I also have an 18 so they are not sharing that joint!!
Im just so glad I have thus far got away without taking any time off work as scans have been during lunch time ish. I will pull a sickie for EC & ET, I hate to do that but Im not using my holiday! And if i tell work its an operation they get nosy!
I will defo be having a drink between EC & ET! X

willithappen · 19/02/2021 14:13

Gonna be a busy thread next week with egg collections by the sounds of it
I'm feeling quite bloated just now. Dreading getting more bloated for the next six days!

hopefulhel · 19/02/2021 14:36

@willithappen I've been drinking some isotonic drinks and also got some Dioralyte to keep hydrated. I don't feel as uncomfortable today. I am so bloated though.

GingerBrummie · 19/02/2021 15:41

My clinic just called me, my EC is confirmed for next Tues early morning! Whoop!

willithappen · 19/02/2021 15:55

Thanks @hopefulhel just gone and got some lucozade sport to hopefully help.

hopefulhel · 19/02/2021 15:59

@willithappen that's exactly what I got. I'm still bloated but less uncomfortable if that makes sense. I look like if someone stuck a pin in me I would just burst

Mrbay · 19/02/2021 16:49

So today's dildo cam update - I now have 9 good sized follicles but 5 front runners - no idea how my body has done this but clearly changing to short protocol and low dose has worked wonders. Lining has increased to 13.5mm.
Nothing really to report on a jab by jab update but I did feel like I was going to wee over the nurse today! They also decorated my lady bits with a lovely light blue lube this time, I felt very royal - lol!

EC booked for Tuesday AM and I feeling really positive about the process - even excited, which is something I didn't think I would be by cycle 3, IVF is a right bullache and feels isolating but I am so pleased to have you all to talk to. in RL, my BF is a nurse so I can go into the gross details with her, she said that she has so many naked selfies of me - I mean who else would I show my bloated body with?

Not sure if anyone else see it but when I look in the mirror, I look like a beer bellies man wearing skinny jeans! (google it, you'll get my drift!) as I have a large belly, skinnyish legs and due to the belly looks like I have no bum! Trust me I have a bum!!

@Hop27 - I understand, I hate that we do have a time limit, but I have everything crossed you.

@hopefulhel - That is really bloody good. Is the main clinic closer or further away?

@Blessing12 - see nothing to worry about :) I feel that you'll get good news next week :)

@willithappen - you'll be on the same timescale at @blessing12 - I love how close we all are in terms of dates.

@Anjenla - I think in all honesty, there isn't a lot you can do to improve your chances, if there was I am sure that clinics would be selling them for £££££s
One tip that does have a study behind it, is laugh after your transfer, in the study it showed a 10% improvement to the clinical pregnancy rate, compared to the group that didn't laugh. To be fair, they used a clown, so perhaps get DP down the fancy dress shop!

@GingerBrummie - snap! I am in on Tuesday AM! YAY!

Sorry if I have missed anyone - but it becoming a hive of activity this thread!

hopefulhel · 19/02/2021 17:20

@mrbay the main clinic is a two hour drive so an early start on Monday morning as I've to be in the clinic for a scan and bloods at 9.10am.

GingerBrummie · 19/02/2021 17:49

Hey @Mrbay brilliant news & I agree doing this with all you guys makes the process much easier somehow, especially as I was a total IVF virgin beforehand.
I told my husband & hes super excited, bless him, now I feel like I need to manage his expectations..

ThePurpleFairy · 19/02/2021 18:22

Looks like everyone has received really promising news today! What a nice way to start off the weekend

Rachae · 19/02/2021 19:35

Wow loving all the positive news! Im ages away from EC, as got another 2 weeks of down reg then 2 weeks of stims.. but crossing my fingers for all of you next week Smile
It's weird, it's my second cycle and I thought eveything would be the same.. Yet I've found the buserelin symptoms kicking in so early this time! Fighting back the urge to lie about and eat chocolate all day!

Nix49816 · 19/02/2021 20:25

Hi all, just been reading up on your scans from today. Good luck to everyone with collections and transfers this coming week!

Had my scan today and she said I have 9 follicles growing on each side but 1 is massively over the line, 2 on the line, a couple a bit lower then the rest lower still. She said she was debating about when to do collection, then the nurse came and told me Monday. Ive had one more stim tonight then a trigger shot tomorrow night. Anyone know if this is normal? Does that mean there's only 3 that are likely to be good for collection coz I'd have thought she'd they'd have let the others grow a bit longer, I'm only on scan 3.

I'm rubbish for coming away then thinking of a million questions after I leave! 🙈

Hop27 · 19/02/2021 20:56

So much going on for everyone - it's hard to keep up!
First world question......can I have SNS nails for egg collection? 😐

Hopeforsuccess · 19/02/2021 21:41

Great news for a lot of ladies in here. So happy for all of you.
I have a question: my embryo transfer is at 12:30 wednesday and my acupuncturist has an appointment only at 16:00. I dont want to just wait outside or walk around after transfer or take a taxi to go there and one to go back home. I am afraid that i should just rest for that day. So i was thinking it might be best to not get the acupuncture? What you guys do after transfer?

RichmondLady1981 · 19/02/2021 21:47

@hopefulhel wow so many follicles! Amazing numbers. You must be thrilled.

@Hop27 good luck to you! I’m working with low numbers too. Did you change anything for this cycle? Everything crossed for you. I have the same worries.

@Mrbay 17 bottles?- that’s quite impressive. I love gin and trying new combinations of tonics and garnish. Can’t wait to have some after EC ! You mentioned about going to the loo before the scan. I was told the same and drank two fibrogels last night before bed. Let’s just say I only just made it to the clinic in time and I feel a bit sorry for whoever visited the ladies room after me at 8am this morning. Perhaps I’ll stick with just the one fibrogel next time. 😬 🤦🏼‍♀️ BTW yes to CM. Having to change underwear and started wearing a pantyliner now. Such a glamorous existence isn’t it. Was your husband advised every day regarding his ‘actions’? We were told every other day. Keep hearing different things. 🤷‍♀️

Thank you @CLP20 thank you! 😘.

@Blessing12 good numbers! You must be pleased. Yes lots of protein!

@willithappen the fact you lost track indicated LOTS!!! Congratulations and everything crossed.

@Anjenla that’s great news re your numbers. You must be so happy. Exciting that the transfer is Wednesday. Just be chilled and relaxed I’d say!

Melissa1983 · 19/02/2021 21:54

Hi Ladies, I've been quiet on here because I've not had much going on as I'm waiting for FET and works been so busy but I'm checking in most days. There is a lot of activity and good news today which is good.

Who else on here is having a FET (sorry it's hard to keep up) I had a scan today and my lining is 11.8 so they've booked my transfer for 2nd, is it just me or does that seem like ages to wait? Maybe I'm
Being impatient but I can't wait to stop injections.

Also do you know how long after transfer you have to have Progynova and cyclogest xx

Hop27 · 19/02/2021 21:59

@RichmondLady1981 - yes went with new specialist and different drug protocol this time around. Just so fearful we won't even get to transfer stage. 14k for nothing, not even a chance.

RichmondLady1981 · 19/02/2021 22:09

@thetallgirl wow great numbers again- well done!! Isn’t it funny how they notice things other than the actual follicles! 😂. On my baseline they asked if I was constipated which was hugely embarrassing- hence the fibrogel.

@GingerBrummie great news for the EC on Tuesday. Also great numbers. So many of us at collection next week!

@Mrbay the lube sounds exciting. A friend of mine told me about that; she said she had blue discharge for the rest of the day. Her fella called her smurf vag. 😆 What protocol were you on before this one? Great that you’re responding so well!

@Rachae I know how you feel! I honestly think the side effects of the Down regs are far worse than the stims. I can’t believe how much rubbish I ate whilst taking those meds. Eugh.

@Nix49816 I’m the same. Started writing things down to remind me. I’d email them ASAP and ask the questions. Hopefully they will respond quickly. Or even better pick up the phone tomorrow?

@Hopeforsuccess I would do whatever makes you feel the most relaxed and happy. If it doesn’t feel the right thing to do, just go home and relax. If it means you have to rush to get to the appointment or if it’s a long journey I wouldn’t put yourself through that. Is there not an appointment the next day? Missing one appointment isn’t going to matter but you have to do what feels right for you.

Anyone else having to take naps during the daytime? Thank god it’s half term! The tiredness is killing me. How long does it take for the stims side effects to disappear after stopping?
