Hi

I’m due to start IVF mid February depending on when my period in January starts.
Had a fresh cycle end of august which sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in October.
I only had that one embryo so will be starting a new fresh cycle.

Would love to chat to any ladies starting then as I found the chats really helpful during my first round.

Hi @Rachae I'm on long protocol, just started my ovaleap stims yesterday after the two weeks of buserelin so I'm about two weeks ahead of you. So far all injections have been totally fine and more or less painless

Kitttycatt · 14/02/2021 10:40

Thanks @GingerBrummie @CLP20 @RichmondLady1981 trigger injection was fine, so much easier than menopur.

@Rachae Hi, I remember you from the nov/Dec thread but my cycle was cancelled as I didn't down regulate. Best of luck for this cycle. I'm long protocol too, have my egg collection tomorrow.

Rachae · 14/02/2021 11:25

Hey @kitttycatt I remember you too! Oh wow that's exciting Smile

hopefulhel · 14/02/2021 11:33

@rachae I used ametop numbing cream. Think it was €3.50 it's a small tube but worked well. Anything to make the process easier

@Kitttycatt great news good luck for tomorrow look forward to your update.

@Rachae welcome, good luck with Buserelin im now on 0.25 I had all the side effects when I started, now I only have the headache but that could also be the Ovaleap and Menopur.

Have you been given your stims and dosage?
When are you hoping to start them? Whens your baseline scan?

Good luck with your journey.

Rachae · 14/02/2021 12:20

Thanks @Hopefulhel I'll look to getting some of this! Grin Hey @Blessing12 thanks! Sounds like you're near EC at this point then? I'm on 0.5 Buserlin and baseline scan is 3 weeks time. Then it will be 3 vials of Menopur for 2 weeks before EC. I got lucky last round with side effects... Got the extreme tiredness which wasn't great, but limited mood changes. Well, a bit low at times but no anger or moodiness. Hopefully will be the same this time!
Good luck to you too xx

Blessing12 · 14/02/2021 13:46

@Rachae yes im hoping for EC Next Monday, I have my stim scan on Wednesday so should no more then.
Good luck with your journey.

GingerBrummie · 14/02/2021 22:44

Not that im bitter or anything but why am I jealous that Meghan has just announced another pregnancy. I got married same w/e as her & same age & still trying for first :(

P.s Hi to the new ladies :)

Hopeforsuccess · 14/02/2021 23:30

@GingerBrummie feeling the same!

Kitttycatt · 15/02/2021 08:54

@GingerBrummie Same. The black and white photo they released is pretty nauseating. I thought they wanted to be private?

Mrbay · 15/02/2021 09:18

@GingerBrummie - same!

Just added Fyremadel to my injection mix - omg that stings worse than Lubion! I just want to itch my skin off!

Welcome to the newbies :)

@Blessing12 - we must be on the same timescale, as I have my stimm scan on Wednesday and EC will either be on Friday or next week - eek! To be fair, I am expecting to be told that I haven't responded as I am such a low dose compared to previous cycles, however this approach works for Create so I need to have faith in the consultant as he has helped 1000s of babies be born and I have helped zero!

Reevalyneete · 15/02/2021 09:40

Hi ladies!

Had bad news at my scan this morning I haven't responded at all basically to 13 days of stims Sad. They have abandoned this cycle so it doesn't get classed as a cycle (nhs funded) I know it's the best for the long run to get more follicles but just devastated! They have told me to to on infoloic alpha sachets for a month and try again then! Feel used to these hurdles now I would be shocked if anything went smoothly!

Motherofkittens28 · 15/02/2021 09:58

@GingerBrummie feel exactly the same re Megan and Harry and I'm not a fan at the best of times.
@Reevalyneete I'm really sorry to hear that, but at least you aren't losing one of your NHS cycles for it and hopefully they will have a better idea of how to avoid this happening next time.

I've just done my third ovaleap injection and I feel really woozy and not quite with it, has anyone else experienced anything similar on stims?

MrTumbleTumble · 15/02/2021 10:08

@Reevalyneete sorry to hear that, it's devastating when a cycle is cancelled but it's definitely better to cancel it now than go through the rest of it with no chance of working. Plus they will have learned some important lessons from this cycle that they can apply to future cycles. Have a few days to grieve the lost chance this time, and be kind to yourself Flowers

As for Harry and Meghan, I like them but I definitely felt the pang that she was pregnant! Ah well, I don't want their baby, I want my own.

willithappen · 15/02/2021 10:17

@Reevalyneete I am so sorry to hear that and can't imagine how you are feeling. It sounds like you are looking for positives though which is good to do. Hopefully they can find something to help you. There is so much to this process and it's not easy :(

@Motherofkittens28 I'm only on gonal f just now (tonight will be third injection) and I do feel a bit queezy sometimes. Don't have much of an appetite either. I also feel gassy and the slightest of pressure on my left ovary (I feel like that when ovulating usually) so I think it's normal but I'm an over thinker and panicking about everything and trying to convince myself I'm not away to die 🙈
From the side affects I see online though it seems normal

GingerBrummie · 15/02/2021 10:59

Morning all,

@Reevalyneete sorry to hear you will need to cancel a cycle, I cannot imagine how annoying it must feel. Hopefully the month will past quickly & you will have much better results next time round.

I had a stimms scan this morning, only 6th day on stimms. I didnt ask any questions, I dont want to second guess whats bad or good as I know so much can change in a week. I did hear her counting 9 follicles on each side & I got the impression they are still small as they said I may need to up my dose of gonal but still tbc. I go for another scan on Wed & again on Fri & really hoping for EC early next week.

39andabit · 15/02/2021 11:26

@Reevalyneete so sorry to hear that. It’s so crap! I agree with @MrTumbleTumble hopefully they may have learnt somethings and can apply this to the next cycle but it’s ok to feel sad, angry as it is a lot to go through for that outcome. Take care.

@GingerBrummie sounds like you’re managing this bit really well. It’s really easy to just obsess about everything so well done. Keeping everything crossed for you.

@Kitttycatt good luck with the egg collection 🤞

Blessing12 · 15/02/2021 12:46

@Mrbay yes we are exactly the same time, iv been given EC for Monday but can change, iv been watching YouTube vids of woman and I think I need to stop because now im thinkinb what if I havnt responded well, im relying on my right ovary and there's nothing in my left.
Wednesday is a big day for us, what time is your appointment? Mine is 9:20am.

@Reevalyneete oh im so sorry to hear this, was you on a hight dosage? I'm really feeling sad for you right now, but uno at least its not counted as a cycle and you can go ahead with another. So take this as a positive and they know now what to do different for the next cycle.

@gingerbrummie thats good news, at 6 days they will be small anyway and they have nearly a wèek to grow, keep with the protein as they say and hot water bottle.

@Kitttycatt good luck with EC.

CLP20 · 15/02/2021 13:36

@GingerBrummie Yes! Saw Harry and Meghan’s photo and just thought “ugh!”
And there’s plenty of time for them to adjust your levels and get it right but you may find they don’t need to. It’s still early days.

@mrbay the Fyrmadel is the worst one for me too.

@Reevalyneete sorry to hear that. Someone told me that the first time is a real learning curve, and it means they know what they are dealing with next time but it’s good you don’t lose one of your “goes”.

@willithappen Those are exactly my side effects. Nothing major but enough to just not feel great. I think it’s all perfectly normal.

CLP20 · 15/02/2021 13:38

4th stimms scan this morning. Have to pull the trigger tonight for collection early Wednesday morning. Really nervous about the whole procedure. Anyone been through it before and can reassure me it’s not as big a deal as I’m making it out to be??

GingerBrummie · 15/02/2021 14:18

@CLP20 thats great news, im excited for you, cannot wait for my date! Im similar timeline to @Blessing12 @Mrbay and @thetallgirl
I haven't had it done before but Im hoping its just like a long deep sleep! I hope you have booked the day off & have someone to cook you dinner in the evening so you can just relax :)

Alexm06 · 15/02/2021 14:26

@CLP20 I was the same. I cried when I was wheeled in but I had a really nice nurse who settled me, they put the iv in then after I was in the position they wanted I was knocked out and woke up in the recovery room. They got 9 eggs so I wasn’t uncomfortable after but I have seen ladies who have had a lot more in a bit of pain but yeah I was pretty much myself again when I woke up. It was definitely the scariest thing but also the easiest as well so I really wouldn’t worry too much.

Mrbay · 15/02/2021 14:30

@Reevalyneete - i know it is upsetting but it better that they cancel and retweak your protocol, rather than going through with the cycle and wasting the funding.

@Motherofkittens28 - I feel little like that on Ovaleap plus I am really struggling to concentrate. Plus my brain has gone to pot, asked DH to grab my uggs and told him they were in the fridge! I couldn't think of the word for bathroom!

@GingerBrummie - that's a fab number! but fingers crossed you start to get some front runners.

@Blessing12 - sounds very similar to me, I'm pretty sure only one like to work for me too! I'm in at 11am. Oh stay away from Youtube!

@CLP20 - it took over 30-mins to stop itching! Horrible stuff! Going to try my stomach tomorrow and see how that goes.
Regarding EC, it is fine, you have a little sleep and then get woken up and it over and done with. 1st time, I wasn't given enough sedation, so 2nd time I had lots! If you are worried, do tell them and they will reassure you and top you during the procedure. I didn't drive until 24hrs after but you'll just feel a bit tired the day of and day after.

fingers crossed for a really positive next few weeks.

GingerBrummie · 15/02/2021 14:52

Hi ladies, Im sure you’re all aware but apparently avocados are super good when stimming & again with implantation. Im having 1 per day.

Kitttycatt · 15/02/2021 16:05

Hi everyone. Back from my egg collection, lying on the sofa with some chocolate ☺️ I don't want to scare anyone but the actual procedure was worse than I thought - I think I just got bad luck. I told my nurse I was in pain after the sedation meds didn't do much and she just gave me gas and air! Again didn't do much. I had a complication where one of my ovaries was a lot higher up so they struggled with that. Anyway, good news is I feel fine now, didn't even need to nap (prob as my sedation didn't touch the sides). Had some tea and toast and chilled after. They collected 15 eggs and my husbands sperm really improved so we don't need ICSI. But now stressing about whether any will fertilise tomorrow...

@Reevalyneete I'm really sorry the cycle hasn't worked for you this time. I hope your clinic gives you a decent debrief and recommends some improvements. Take it easy x
