Hi

I’m due to start IVF mid February depending on when my period in January starts.
Had a fresh cycle end of august which sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in October.
I only had that one embryo so will be starting a new fresh cycle.

Would love to chat to any ladies starting then as I found the chats really helpful during my first round.

@Melissa1983 yes I know what you mean about the sleep! Not sleeping well at all at the moment!! I remember having bad headaches last time so I expect them to come soon! X

Kitttycatt · 10/02/2021 16:13

@CLP20 well it was either 18 or 19mm I kind of zoned out, they didn't mention it specifically. Next scan will either be Fri or Sat, they are going to ring me tomorrow to confirm, so I'll check with them about the large follicle then.

@Blessing12 I'm on 225 menopur and 0.5 buserelin take both in the morning at 8am.

RichmondLady1981 · 10/02/2021 16:14

Hi ladies. Waiting for my bleed after my last Norethisterone on Sunday. Sorry for TMI but just popped to the loo as it felt like things had started but was surprised to see loads of cervical mucus- no bleed. Worried now as this is a sign of rising oestrogen isn’t it? Not a good sign 😬 Any ideas? I’ve emailed the nurse but I’m at my scan tomorrow morning at 830am. Let’s see. 🤔

Mrbay · 10/02/2021 16:54

Hey all and welcome to the newbies :)

@Salacia - I found Rhod Gilbert's documentary very informative as it focuses solely on sperm and sperm health.

My period arrive today, 2-days early! So I'm starting injections tomorrow, I'm on Overleap too.

GingerBrummie · 10/02/2021 17:22

Hi @Mrbay good news & good luck with the injections tomorrow.
No idea @RichmondLady1981 but Im hoping the nurses can answer your questions tomorrow.
Good luck for anyone else having scans tomorrow

Kitttycatt · 10/02/2021 18:07

@RichmondLady1981 it's hard to tell without a blood test. At least you don't have to wait long for your scan.

CLP20 · 10/02/2021 18:45

@RichmondLady1981 I had that too! Was convinced it had arrived only to find it all clear and no sign of blood. It only lasted a day before I started bleeding and when I did it was a surprise because I thought it was more of the same!

@Kitttycatt let us know what happens

Reevalyneete · 10/02/2021 19:19

Hi everyone

Sorry for jumping on this thread. This is the first time I have tried one of these forums but seem at a similar stage with a lot in the group. I am on day 7 of Meriofert injections started my clymocide when I went for my scan on Monday. I come out of the scan feeling really negative as the lady asked me if I had PCOS due to high number of folicles and some cysts on my ovaries and I’m confused why it has been picked up so late it was my husband who was diagnosed with azoospermia so the last 3 years treatment focus as been on him. I had 30 plus follicles on one ovary and 25 plus on the other however non had grown past 6mm I think it was mm however the nurse seemed concerned and got a doctor for a second opinion and they decide to not up my dose but see how the follicles look at my next scan (this Friday). Don’t really know what to expect now I’ve always been positive but starting to let it all get to me. Also really nervous for the egg retrieval if the follicles aren’t growing they might say they can’t go through with it?

Any advice/support welcome thanks x

RichmondLady1981 · 10/02/2021 20:16

Thanks ladies - good to hear your stories too. I’ll let you know what happened tomorrow. 😬. Just hope I don’t have to do more down regs.

@Reevalyneete I wouldn’t worry. It sounds to me that they have identified that you have more follicles than they previously thought, so they are just taking extra care not to over stimulate. Try to stay positive 😊

Mrbay · 10/02/2021 20:24

@richmondlady1981 - I sometimes get that a day or before my period.

@GingerBrummie - thank you!

@reevalyneete - as said above it sounds like they are trying to prevent OHSS, which is good news as IVF really shouldn't lead to it. Keep your water and protein up as this will help the follicles grow. I wonder if they will change/amend drugs?

Reevalyneete · 10/02/2021 20:52

@RichmondLady1981 thanks I know I shouldn't over think it was just the nurses reaction seemed like things was going as they should be I asked what a normal follicle size would be for day 5 of injections and she just said everyone is different :/.
Good luck with your scan tomorrow im just getting to grips with this and where everyone is up to in their treatment Smile

@Mrbay Hi yes the doctor did say the last thing they want is OHSS so I suppose I just have to be patient and see what happens at my scan on Friday. I'm terrible for googling hours can go by and I'm no better off. Is this first time IVF for you?

RichmondLady1981 · 10/02/2021 21:10

My bleed just happened! Phew! Thanks everyone!

CLP20 · 10/02/2021 22:33

@RichmondLady1981 Great news!

babysusie · 10/02/2021 23:23

Hi, I am new here too. This is my first IVF. We have been trying for 8 years and took us 3 years from first GP appt to this stage. Always thought there was something wrong with me as always had irregular periods, but we actually found out my husband has male infertility which was devastating. Our only option was to use a sperm donor which was very difficult to accept. I just feel all alone in this, also being told by nurse that husband is not allowed in hospital for any scans, EC or ET cause of Covid. I am due to start short protocol at my next period so hoping for a support in this group. I am 39 (almost 40) so time is an issue. I have been following this thread for a while but didn't wanna join as had no dates but wanted to comment now and wish everyone best of luck.

Salacia · 11/02/2021 07:03

@Mrbay - thank you, looks like it’s on iplayer so might have a watch this weekend.

Salacia · 11/02/2021 07:07

Just accidentally pressed play on it while browsing, started with an advert for a programme called bump birth baby, feel like the BBC could have picked a more sensitive option!

RichmondLady1981 · 11/02/2021 07:32

@babysusie welcome. Sorry to hear the process has taken so long. It must be very difficult. I’m also the same age as you and understand how it feels to want to get the process moving quickly. Hopefully you will get some support here. Good luck and keep us posted. When are you hoping to receive dates?

elsiegoggings · 11/02/2021 07:49

I've started my bleed today but I'm not feeling side effects of the drugs yet. I keep worrying I'm injecting into the wrong place! It's crazy as I've done ivf (successfully) before but I keeping thinking 'where do I inject?!' 😂 I'm on Buserelin so I think I need to start something the tablets today. I'll ring the clinic. I don't have another appointment until 24th?

Reevalyneete · 11/02/2021 08:49

@babysusie Hi I am pretty much in the same situation as you we have now had to go with donor sperm it's a tough pill to swallow. Are you currently waiting for your next period or waiting to start norethisterone? My periods become unregular I missed a few and had a bleed then would get told I had missed the intake for patients before Christmas and to ring up next month it was so frustrating as I knew my next bleed might not even come! I started taking myo inositol and then I didn't even have to start the norethisterone my bleed come naturally when it was supposed to (so I stared injections 10 days earlier). I'm sorry you feel alone in this hoping you get support from here. I have to go to my scan alone tomorrow I really don't enjoy it as I don't ask a lot of questions face to face with being overwhelmed then regret it when a I get out and my husband says did you ask this or that and I never I have wrote a couple of questions down and always take a note pad with me. Your journey will start very soon good luck xx

Salacia · 11/02/2021 09:11

Sorry for everyone having to go in for scans etc alone, when I was working on a COVID ward earlier this year that was the thing I found 5e hardest to deal with. Definitely helps to make notes before you go in, I used to like it when patients did that as it helped me see what was most important to them.

RichmondLady1981 · 11/02/2021 09:35

Morning ladies.

Just finished my baseline scan. As expected, only 6 follicles but going to remain positive. Only need one. 🤞

No cysts, lining ok and all follicles same size. I’ve been instructed to start sims tomo evening. Am on Ovaleap 300 and Menapur 75.

Ready to get on with it now! Half term next week which really helps.

Hope everyone’s ok x

Blessing12 · 11/02/2021 09:43

Hey ladies, sorry abit behind just reading and catching up.

I did my stims last night i was nervous, and the 0.25 buserelin this morning, does anyone feel conscious of forgetting to remember but you don't forget if that makes sense.
Those on menapur and ovaleap, they are to stay at room temperature once you start using, that is right isn't it?

Mrbay · 11/02/2021 09:52

@RichmondLady1981 - I did think that would happen regarding your period - so yay!
I only get around 4-5 follicles each time but at every egg collection all eggs have been mature and 100% fertilisation rate, only 1 hasn't made it to day 5 so it's all about quality.

@Salacia - it's well worth the watch, if this cycle doesn't work for us I'll be booking an appointment with the specialist that Rhod saw.

@Blessing12 - I'm on Ovaleap so only know that is can stay at room temp for a certain number of hours but I'm keeping mine in the fridge just in case.

1st injection done, given this is my 3rd cycle plus 2 FT, you'd think I'd be ok with stabbing myself, but I got nervous this morning. Then stabbed myself in the finger as I was removing the needle - not my morning!

babysusie · 11/02/2021 10:40

@RichmondLady1981 - Thanks for the welcome. I should be getting my treatment plan in the post today I think although nurse already told me I am on short protocol but highest amount of doses due to my age. I am doing NHS cycle and I have to start treatment before I turn 40 which I will be next month so really being forced to start asap otherwise I would lose my NHS funding (and I only get 1 cycle).

@Reevalyneete - yes, it is really hard to accept. Did you find it hard to select your donor? My periods are very irregular, although usually it's around 31-34 days , I have some going as far as 60 days. I am hoping this month will be shorter cycle as I have to start treatment before turning 40. I was told if it looks like it will take longer they would give me medication to trigger it. Not sure I will be on norethisterone. From what nurse told me I will be on menopaur and something else which I can't remember. Good luck with your scan tomorrow.

babysusie · 11/02/2021 10:48

Can I ask a question to more experienced ladies on short protocol? I was told to call on day 1 period and that they will book me in for a scan between day 2-4. From what I understand people on short protocol start injections on day 2? But how as I haven't been shown how to do it yet and nobody said when I will receive my meds. And looks like I will only go to see them for my scan, surely they need to show me before? How was it for you? Getting paranoid I missed some important information.
