Hi

I’m due to start IVF mid February depending on when my period in January starts.
Had a fresh cycle end of august which sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in October.
I only had that one embryo so will be starting a new fresh cycle.

Would love to chat to any ladies starting then as I found the chats really helpful during my first round.

Hi everyone. Hope you’re doing ok. Sorry to hear some of you are struggling with side effects. Is it ok to take paracetamol? I’m sure I read ibuprofen was a no.

I really wanted to try acupuncture but the Covid situation and cost put me off a bit. Hope it goes well for you @Blessing12

@Motherofkittens28 4 weeks off sounds good, what are other people doing about work? I’m lucky as I’m working from home. I’m planning to take a 3 days off for egg collection, 2 for transfer and 1-2 on test day - I think that’ll be the hardest to work through if it’s bad news. Have you told work? I have and in general they’ve been good once you hear all the ‘my friend went on holiday and got pregnant as she wasn’t stressed...’ stories!

Motherofkittens28 · 05/02/2021 17:56

@39andabit oh don't you hate that! I have so many people essentially telling me its my fault because I'm not relaxed enough, makes me want to scream!
I have told work, we don't have to tell them the reason for requesting this type of unpaid leave but I wanted people to be aware in case I started cracking up on the drugs and also so they might ease off my workload a bit. I have a feeling that once they know you are going through ivf you might be in a protected group if they were making redundancies, although I think all our redundancies are done now.

Hello ladies

I’m due to start fresh cycle in February.
After a number of failed / ectopic cycles.
I have a 3 year old (concieved via IVF First fresh round)
This will be our second fresh cycle, excited but very nervous. We have chosen not to tell our families as it is too painful to keep being asked ‘how are we getting on’. I know they mean well.

Anyway here to hear your stories and see how we can support each other through all these meds again.

GingerBrummie · 05/02/2021 18:13

Hey all,
@Blessing12 Protein shakes sound good for sure. Im just having a protein bar per day, I made sure it didnt have much sugar, soy & was natural.
Hi @39andabit re work, Im only taking 1 day off for EC. Fortunately I work from home & its not stressful (HR admin) so Im thinking I can just rest when/ if I need to. I haven't told anyone about IVF. Scans hopefully will be done around lunchtimes if not, it will just be dentist/doctor apps.
My NHS offer free counselling, anyone done this? Im wondering if it would be good therapy.

Pansy222 · 05/02/2021 18:20

@GingerBrummie hi lovely

I had some counselling sessions and feel that they really helped.
Once i had my baby in 2017 that’s when I really should of asked for more support. I think once you’ve been through so much ttc it effects us mentally. I actually couldn’t believe he was mine. It was a difficult time.

I’m hoping to do some sessions in This cycle and ongoing. It’s so important to look after our mental health especially doing this in a pandemic now. Sending care to you all.

Blessing12 · 05/02/2021 18:31

@39andabit Definitely agree no Ibuprofen the clinic told me this especially when you start stims.

Hi @Pansy222 welcome, I understand that I also havnt told anyone just my best Friend.
Goof luck when you start your cycle are you on long or short protocol?

@GingerBrummie oh yes protein bar thats a good idea.

Pansy222 · 05/02/2021 18:36

Hi @Blessing12 I’m on short protocol, I’m glad of this!
I have no periods so have just done my provera waiting on a bleed to start to say it’s day 1 !!! Hurry up x

Alexm06 · 05/02/2021 18:46

@Pansy222 welcome! Can I just ask we’re you on provera last time and if you were how long did it take for you period to come once you stopped. I’ve taken my first one today and my last one will be next Saturday I think to control when my period comes as I don’t have any issues with my period but I’ve heard that one woman waited like 2 weeks! My clinic says should come 3 days after so now I’m a bit confused.

Thanks & welcome @Pansy222, I will book the counselling Smile

39andabit · 05/02/2021 19:06

Welcome @Pansy222 interesting about the counselling, I think it’s important to accept it’s normal to need help with emotional side. I don’t have periods anymore either but went straight from letrozole to starting Buserelin so I was ok. The incessant waiting is hard so I feel sorry for you!

@Blessing12 thanks for the info re ibuprofen, my clinic didn’t say anything. I’m ok today just very tired.

Hi @Alexm06 I’ve taken provera a few times. It took 3-4 days after the last pill to start. More waiting...

@Motherofkittens28 I think once you’ve had the transfer you’re in the ‘protected group’ as you’re officially pregnant - I’ve been waiting for a contract extension so did a bit of Googling. All the redundancy threats are just another stress on top of IVF aren’t they? Glad you’re ok.

@GingerBrummie sounds like you’ll be ok and it maybe better to keep busy - I couldn’t decide! I have leave to use before the end of March so worked out ok.

Pansy222 · 05/02/2021 19:14

Hi @Alexm06 yes always provera to start a bleed for me or birth control (although it feels counterproductive to take that so I usually ask for Provera) just my choice 🤪

This time I did 5 days On provera. I’m 3 days after and no bleed yet so I’m waiting 😖
Usually it’s between 3-7 days after stopping two weeks is a little long but our bodies are all different so 🤷🏻‍♀️
I’m hoping day 1 is this weekend and then I can plan the month ahead better.

Pansy222 · 05/02/2021 19:31

Eggs eggs eggs, good quality meats, beans, yogurt is all great for our eggs 🥚 Make sure you get some really great quality proteins xx

Alexm06 · 05/02/2021 19:43

@39andabit @Pansy222 Thanks guys! Yeah I hate the waiting! I caved early in the 2 week wait last time and my period was also a few days late as I think I was stressing waiting for it to come so yeah I’m hoping it comes on the 16th ready to start stims on the 17th

CLP20 · 05/02/2021 21:38

@Kitttycatt I was doing acupuncture, which I found really calming, but with our clinic saying we have to self isolate I’ve had to stop.

Anyone else having feelings of resentment towards DH because he keeps stabbing me with needles? 🙈😂

Hopinggem · 05/02/2021 21:53

Hi there, i had a fet on 3rd Feb. Is anyone coming through same experience and feeling any kind of symptoms post transfer.

I am feeling no symptoms. Feeling worried since this is my last fet

RichmondLady1981 · 05/02/2021 23:00

Hi @Hopinggem. Welcome. I think lots of the ladies here are about to go start or are just starting stims. If you check the JAN/Feb IVF thread, there are lots of women who are at (or just past) transfer strange who can tell you their symptoms and experiences. You’re way ahead of me, starting stims next week.

Good luck x

pixelflower · 06/02/2021 00:41

Sorry, didn't keep track of who said what as I caught up on a few pages. To the ladies who mentioned Norethisterone, thank you! I don't really like to read the side effects and nice to know that the bloating/constipation isn't unusual. Last day of them tomorrow then scan on Wednesday.

Blessing12 · 06/02/2021 10:23

I'm not were you are, but good luck and I hope you get your BFP please keep us updated, do you know when you will test?

Blessing12 · 06/02/2021 10:23

@Hopinggem

MrTumbleTumble · 06/02/2021 11:05

@RichmondLady1981 we're on exactly the same schedule. Stopping norethisterone on Monday and then waiting for my period (last time it took 5 days so I'm expecting the same this time). EC pencilled in for 24th Feb.

I'm torn between feeling fed up of waiting and apprehensive about the drugs! This is my second fresh cycle in 6 months (with 2 FET in between) and we've made some tweaks to my protocol, but it feels really reassuring to know exactly what to expect. The first cycle is definitely the most daunting!

RE counselling, I would really recommend it. We get one free session offered per cycle and can pay for additional sessions. We'd not made use of it before this round but we've had two sessions so far and I've found it so helpful.

ThePurpleFairy · 06/02/2021 11:24

@Hopinggem I’m still waiting for my FET but I have seen timelines such as the one on this link before which may help you, it’s still super early, I wouldn’t worry yet!

Mancbear88 · 06/02/2021 13:03

@Hopinggem I wouldn’t worry about symptoms or no symptoms this early. I’ve been on a few threads and there’s been loads who have no symptoms and got positives. Fingers crossed on test days it’s positive!

Hopinggem · 06/02/2021 14:08

Thank you @Mancbear88 @ThePurpleFairy thank you for your kind words. Fingers crossed and live in hope!

willithappen · 06/02/2021 21:31

@MrTumbleTumble I'm on exact same as you!
Two more days of norethisterone to take and then baseline scan on the 12th!
They were thinking EC on the 26th Feb but I know from a friends experience now that this could actually be earlier or it could be later

Blessing12 · 06/02/2021 22:12

Hey ladies, has anyone added embryo glue in the process of your transfer?
