IVF Dec 2020-Jan 2021-anyone joining me?

Hi,
After 2 years TTC #1 we are now eventually on the IVF bus! Should have started in June but Covid put a stop to that and after lots of back/forth with our NHS clinic we've got our treatment planning appointment on Friday and will be on the long protocol so probably starting mid- end of December!
Would love to have some ladies join me!
I've been creeping on other IVF threads but haven't been able to fully take part.

@Sungirl11 euch mine is driving me mad. I've had like 4/5 days of odd spotting but nada else. I should have come off the coil earlier and my cycles would be in sync now and driving me less mad

granddesigns · 02/12/2020 15:17

Finally jumping on this thread if I can please ? Been waiting for a bleed since a disbanded FET begun in September after a miscarriage from another FET in the summer. All this came after a cancelled fresh transfer that was due March as Covid struck. 2020 hasn't been at all kind has it?! Anyway, finally we have progress today (lessons learnt along the way include both me and drs accepting I don't down regulate!). We have now confirmed our treatment diary and adjusted protocol which should put us on track for a transfer just before Christmas (and before clinic closes too!) this transfer includes a lot more oestrogen tabs, fyremadel injections (remember them fondly, not!) and no down regulation. Hoping I can catch the bus at this late stage and journey with you?!

Bells3032 · 02/12/2020 15:29

I am wondering whether I should talk to my clinic about down regulation. I had my coil out on 1st September. So far I have had bleeds

  • one week after removal
  • three weeks after that
  • 4 weeks and 4 days after that

I am now 4 weeks and 5 days from my last bleed (which are also rediculously light and (sorry TMI) brown). When i asked at the clinic they said it was fine as long as roughly every four weeks.

I am just really anxious about it

starkid · 03/12/2020 09:04

I did my first Buserelin down-reg injection this morning! The self-injecting bit was perfectly fine and not scary, probably because I'd been staring at the syringe for so long as I really struggled to get the pink needle off and ended up squirting it a bit, then bent one of the yellow smaller ones in half! Grin got there in the end, but any tips on swapping between the 2 needles besides brute force? There must be a technique I missed when the nurse did it Confused

Kiza · 03/12/2020 14:21

@starkid sorry not at that stage yet but glad to hear that you managed to inject yourself at least- that in itself as an achievement? Have you tried looking on YouTube? I've heard there's some videos on there?

Whoohoo finally AF arrived! Rang my clinic and all booked in for 23rd Dec to start down reg on that date.
@Bells3032 @Sungirl11 have yours arrived yet?

Welcome @granddesigns sounds like you've had one heck of a journey with IVF so far, hope this time round goes smoothly for you.

@MF1981 welcome to the thread, looks like I'll be a few days behind you ☺️

@onlyhereforthefood how did your self injection go?

Bells3032 · 03/12/2020 14:26

@Kiza nope. Gonna have a chat with the nurse as a bit worried it's now been 5 weeks since my last cycle

starkid · 03/12/2020 14:28

@Kiza - congrats on getting a date! Yeah I was trying to watch videos but the ones I found didn't seem to have the 2 different needles I was given (1 to draw the mixture up and 1 to insert into me), but someone I know who did IVF filmed herself once so sent me a video (need to twist the needles off, not yank!) Grin will hopefully get better with practise!

Sungirl11 · 03/12/2020 15:44

@Kiza yes! Had spotting yesterday so called and the nurse and she said that was considered day 1 so had my first scan this morning and bloods for hormones. My ovaries are perfect and a lot of tiny follicles resting, so all good to go.
I start injections tonight! 🙈🙈
Xx

Bells3032 · 03/12/2020 16:12

So spoke to the nurse who was very comforting. Said that if still having issues with my cycle in January can start me on a drug to induce my period but since it's only been three months since my coil came out its likely just not got back into sync yet and there's nothing to worry about.

Should have had it taken out earlier....stupid Covid

granddesigns · 03/12/2020 17:23

Hope things resume normally @Bells3032 - my bleed this week was the result of meds to induce a bleed after nothing for 8+ weeks after my failed down regulation. They were reluctant to do it and kept giving me another week to reset naturally as they were worried it could impact on starting up making natural hormones further down the FET line. That said it didn't resume naturally and I'm having the induced bleed- not as bad as I imagined it could be but definitely aware that my body has been forced to do something it didn't want to or wasn't ready to do naturally- spent yesterday afternoon in a ball and caved and took some paracetamol which is very unlike me!

Good to read some of your other stories. Day 2 of meds today - had fun getting the needle in for the fyremedel last night - must have lost the knack or still being cautious despite having filled a few yellow sharps boxes this year!

Kiza · 03/12/2020 17:24

@Bells3032 oh that's so frustrating for you, did she say if it comes in the next day or two you can still proceed this month?

@Sungirl11 oh I forgot you're on a different protocol as me and inject straight away! Good luck with the first one! I'm off to a needle exchange to get some freebies to practice 😆

@starkid that's really handy about your friend still having her video! I'm definitely going to ask the nurse if I can film her at the teaching lesson, my memory is like a sieve at the best of times 🤦🏼‍♀️

@kiza sadly not. They're closing the embroology lab between the 19th and 4th for deep cleaning. Can start the scans and injections between Christmas and New year but no retirval til the 4th.

onlyhereforthefood · 03/12/2020 19:11

@granddesigns I am finding the fyremedel a nightmare, it always bruises me!

Sungirl11 · 03/12/2020 20:20

@Kiza omg started injections today and nearly died! Hahah 🙈🙈🙈
My husband did them today and one of them was really stingy :(
I'm not sure how i will cope doing them myself (ooppss)

granddesigns · 03/12/2020 20:44

@onlyhereforthefood haha - I remember why one of the other ladies on my March ivf board nicknamed her fire maiden!

I also recalled this evening that one half of the needle is sharper than the other - much less force needed to break the skin using the sharp side - sounds stupid looking back given I've been 'longing' to get injecting again and have been on and off since feb!

MF1981 · 04/12/2020 08:14

My OH did all my injections last time and will again this time - don’t think I could do it myself 🙈

starkid · 04/12/2020 08:46

Did my second one today and managed to do it in 3 minutes, compared to 15 yesterday Grin

Sungirl11 · 04/12/2020 09:10

@MF1981 I will have to do them myself a few days as my hubs is on day shift so he will not be home in time 😩😩
DEAD

I woke up this morning and as I stood up I started bleeding loads... it went all over my pad and down my legs all the way to my ancles (sorry tmi), has this happened to anyone? Had to get a shower and wash my pjs haha
But DH and I where shocked as I never bleed that much... (not even half that amount) 🙈

onlyhereforthefood · 04/12/2020 16:59

@Sungirl11 I took Provera to induce a bleed and it was very heavy for me. It did last less time than usual though so silver linings!

I had my first scan today. Lots of good looking follicles apparently. Another scan Monday and they will decide when to do retrieval, but looking like it might be a week today or the following Monday.

Then we have a 6-8 week wait to see if any of our embryos pass the genetic testing!

Mseddy · 05/12/2020 06:53

Sorry I've been a bit absent! I've been avoiding thinking of anything ivf related in an attempt to not think about my period arriving and hope it comes on time!! My usual 28 day cycle decided to be 31 days last month making things pretty tight for my pre Christmas transfer. The nurses worked out that if I had another 31 day cycle I would JUST make it before Christmas but they wouldn't have any scope to push things if my lining didn't thicken on time. Well today AF turned up after 29 days wooo!!! So not only can I make it on time but I have 48 hours wiggle room too. I'm going to ring my clinic to confirm in a few hours but I'm excited to actually get going today!! Mr Frostie I'm coming for you!

PineappleC · 05/12/2020 08:45

Hi everyone! Jumping on this thread from the November one. I recognise a few names on here too.

We were all prepped for a natural FET which should have gone ahead on Thurs. It was cancelled right at the last minute because of low oestradiol. Pretty devastated but also glad to have not wasted another embryo. We're now starting a semi-medicated FET as soon as I get my next period. Probably in a week or so. Looking forward to getting going!

Hope this is a lucky thread for us all 😊

onlyhereforthefood · 05/12/2020 09:24

@Mseddy Phew! Delighted for you, fingers crossed for all going well xx

@PineappleC Keeping everything crossed for you!

granddesigns · 05/12/2020 11:59

Hi @PineappleC - glad you have managed to make this thread hopefully - I've also shuffled from September through October, November and now the December thread! Seems my last FET failed due to natural hormones not switching back on again and lining deteriorating after transfer despite a BFP so hopefully you can get started this week and squeeze in this year too!

Mseddy · 05/12/2020 20:56

@PineappleC I'm on a semi medicated fet too started meds today so we are probably going to be quite close in timings. Good luck!

Is anyone on or ever had progynova? I've taken it for the first time today and god I feel shit!!!! I usually get quite bad cramps on day 1 of my cycle but this was other level! I've just had a 30 min drive home from work and thought I was going to have to pull off the motorway and ring my DH to come and collect me! I cried on the phone to my mum the whole way home to try and take my mind off it!

granddesigns · 06/12/2020 13:15

Hi @Mseddy - yes I've done a few rounds of progynova now - luckily so far I've been ok. Always feel a bit queasy when I start, they have tweaked my protocol the last couple of times so I'm on a high dose to start with going up and up to the transfer so they have told me that once we increase it might be best to split the dosage between morning and evening and take near food as 12mg might make me feel a bit more sickly! Sorry to hear it's thrown you and you feel rotten - hopefully body will settle down and accept
It's just more hormones being thrown it's way!
