IVF Dec 2020-Jan 2021-anyone joining me?

Hi,
After 2 years TTC #1 we are now eventually on the IVF bus! Should have started in June but Covid put a stop to that and after lots of back/forth with our NHS clinic we've got our treatment planning appointment on Friday and will be on the long protocol so probably starting mid- end of December!
Would love to have some ladies join me!
I've been creeping on other IVF threads but haven't been able to fully take part.

My council is also one fresh and one frozen and we are moving and the new council is the same so we decided to skip NHS (my BMI is also a bit too high for NHS too) rather than wait 9 months for a single round so we are going private.

@Sungirl11 welcome to the thread. you're in good company here. We are also doing ICSI as my husband's sperm count is extremely low due to childhood cancer. The doctor's seem very confident in us conceiving (his urologist has given us about a 40% chance per round but we haven't had any figures from the IVF clinic itself). I haven't had many hormones tests just AMH but had a scan and bar a lower AMH everything seems to be good and healthy with me. I am also 32. The nice thing about IVF is everyone telling me how young i am!! I also lost my mum six years ago so it's hard doing all this without her support. I am lucky i am an amazing sister, dad and mother in law for me to talk to and all are so supportive.

Freya2015 · 29/11/2020 10:48

@Beaglemum91 yes i feel the same before we know it will be January this time in three months time we would be pregnant hopefully

@Sungirl11 i am 24 my Gp wouldnt refer me that when i said i will be complaining about you and he ended up do it. I have very irregular periods and my husband has very low sperm count so our only option is ivf with icsi. And we start on 4th Jan we medication to bring on my bleed

onlyhereforthefood · 29/11/2020 12:44

@Sungirl11 welcome and good luck with your journey.

We were in a similar situation with OH Dad (his cancer is the reason we're doing this as it is down to a gene mutation). Sadly he passed in September, but we were able to tell him were about to embark on the process.

Sungirl11 · 29/11/2020 13:23

Thanks everyone!

@Bells3032 been reading you story, love the fact everyone considers us really young! I always thought i'm starting to get old (not literally!), but I see my dad who had me at 32 and my sister at 42 and it's not been the same! We used to go on all the rollercoasters! And she missed this.
We have the issue with hubs motility, very very low... but the Dr at the clinic is very confident and said he believes we have a 65-70% chance of success as I am extremely fertile! My AMH is very good and follicle count was 13 in one and 9 in other (ovaries)... he even asked if I thought about sharing as he is confident he will get +20 eggs from me.
I'm sorry about your mom too, it's such a horrible thing to loose them so early 😞

@Freya2015 glad you where listened to! It's not about age.. it's a problem and it needs to be looked at!
I don't get refused treatment, but we get wrong information, not well referred for the tests, get told "now it's not important" and have to wait ages for appointments... to the point it's gone a year and 4 months and no further testing has been done... (we have done it privately ourselves thought).

@onlyhereforthefood aw i'm so sorry! I'm so glad he knew you where going for it! I'm in the same boat, mom has actually paid for private treatment to help us have a baby, as she knows how much it hurts me knowing she will leave without meeting my children 😞

starkid · 29/11/2020 13:33

@Sungirl11 - wow what great odds to be given! I'm coming up to 31 and get told I'm young so got lots of time etc., but was still given 42% chance so guess my egg count/AMH wasn't as great as yours haha

Freya2015 · 29/11/2020 13:46

@Sungirl11 yes i made myself heard its a problem it will not fix in the next 10 years by itself

Kiza · 29/11/2020 14:14

Wow ladies you've been given great odds. We were told 13% 😢 due to AMH of 5.9 (I'm 40) and DP 1% morphology, everything else is fine. Although on the one hand they say 'shouldn't be any reason why you can't conceive' to then saying 'you're old so eggs won't be great quality' 🤷🏼‍♀️ just trying to stay positive

OP posts:
Sungirl11 · 29/11/2020 15:19

@Kiza in the end i can have a very high possibility due to good egg quality and age... and become unsuccessful anyway...
I just want to be as positive as I can and think if it's a no it's because it didn't have to be! But we want a kid really badly so nothing will stop us!
I have AMH of 20.56 and a lot of follicles, that is why Dr was so confident (he literally said "believe me I know what i'm talking about" haha)
Have you been offered the Embryoglue? Xx

Mseddy · 29/11/2020 16:27

@sungirl11 we have used embryo glue with both our fresh rounds. One was a bfn and the other was a bfp but I miscarried. My clinic says they have no evidence that it helps so don't offer it anymore, but because it was already included in our package when we paid we could have the choice to have it anyway so we kept it. I think I'll ask for it again with my FET next month

Sungirl11 · 29/11/2020 17:09

@Mseddy yes, we have it as an add on. We have been told it has no clear evidence but it's acid hyaluronic which apparently can really help to stick. No reassurance thought! But maybe worth it, it says it causes no harm at all.
How old are you? As it also says they recommend it in older age woman. (Older than me 32).

Bells3032 · 29/11/2020 17:20

@Kiza don't worry. they're just figures and they're per round not "ever". My friend was given less than a 5% chance as she was 41 and had very low AMH and she had five rounds across which she only got two embryos. one of which she miscarried. I just dropped the baby gift round today for the second one :)

Kiza · 29/11/2020 18:09

@Bells3032 that's lovely to hear she was successful in the end. We will have this 1 free round on the nhs and then can only afford a 3 round package after that 🤞🏼🤞🏼

So letter in today and I have nurses appointment on Tuesday 8th Dec but it's by video call. Would this be to talk over the drugs do you think?

I have my blood test today, terrified as I haaate getting blood taken. Not sure how I'm going to cope with all this actually

Bells3032 · 30/11/2020 12:54

@willithappen yes it's likely to go over your meds and the process itself. good step forward.

I am terrible with needles too. that's the thing i am dreading the most. Four sets of blood tests and then a canula within two weeks when I have two week long bruises across both arms from one blood test. I've bought arnica to help with the bruises and EMLA to put on my hands and wrists for the later tests in case the they need to do it in them!

starkid · 30/11/2020 13:12

Urgh I hate canula's so much too, had them in both hands constantly for 5 weeks a few years ago :(

willithappen · 30/11/2020 13:57

Ahhh that terrifies me! Today's ones are for the blood born viruses and thyroid so partner has them today too

I'm still a bit lost at where I am in the process if I'm being honest, hopefully a call with the nurses will clear things up for me and I'm glad it's next week and not a month from now. The wait from getting the letter about the consent appointment and the actual day for that felt like sooo long

Bells3032 · 30/11/2020 14:13

@willithappen oh i never had those. I had an STI check.

Just try and concentrate on the aim and tell yourself it'll be worth it

willithappen · 30/11/2020 14:14

I think it's std tests as it's like Hep B and stuff. I got a list from the nurse today to make sure my GP puts it in for the right stuff.

I'm feeling faint already 😅

Bells3032 · 30/11/2020 14:17

@willithappen ah it will be ok. drink lots of water and keep your arms warm

willithappen · 30/11/2020 14:37

@Bells3032 thanks!
That's it done. That was the best I have ever been when getting bloods.
Honestly the wait in the waiting room before was the worse as my anxiety was going through the roof

I'm really chuffed with myself right now actually! I know it's a small and trivial thing but to not faint or panic when getting them done is a huge thing for me.

Bells3032 · 30/11/2020 14:39

well done. one down. a million more to go Hmm

willithappen · 30/11/2020 16:36

Haha oh gosh how much more blood tests??

Bells3032 · 30/11/2020 16:41

Depends on the clinic. Mine do four in the 12 days of stims, then a beta at 17 days. Then throughout pregnancy you'll need a load too

Sungirl11 · 30/11/2020 17:20

Hi girls!
So we had our nurse consultation.
All good to go, had a blood test and went to order all the meds.
Have another blood test tomorrow too.
When my period starts, day2 I start treatment! 🤞🏼
I'm so glad i'm not afraid of needles! I have 3 tummy injections daily that go up to 6 before egg collection 🙈
Apart from the 4 blood ones that get done...

Is it the same for everyone???

Hugs girls! Xx

Bells3032 · 30/11/2020 17:30

I start treatment day 2 as well. but think annoyingly my cycles will line up that I am too late for Dec and too early for Jan as the cut off for the lab at christmas. Ie i should start my cycle tomorrow but the cut off for a dec cycle was today as it's closed December 19-Jan 4th and they need 19 days from start of cycle to transfer.

Then four weeks after that is the 29th so too early. so will probably have to wait til last week of Jan :'(

I have
Day 2 - blood tests and start
Day 2-6 one injection
Day 6-11 two injections
Day 12 i think two maybe three (not sure)
