November IVF/FET

... Too soon?! 😁😉

Been waiting on a FET since we were put on July's list and I've heard from our clinic this week that I've to call them when AF rocks up in October for a November FET. We had our fresh cycle in January, had a BFP, but found there was no heartbeat at the 11 week scan in March (MMC) - it's been a bit of a roller-coaster so far this year (as if covid craziness wasn't enough!).

Found having a thread to go through it all with a massive emotional support, so looking for some MN buddies to do it all again with. Good luck ladies and looking forward to 'meeting' you 🍀🙂

Sorry @Geep - totally missed your post! I would probably ask about whether progesterone support was sufficient if AF started whilst you were still on it and what different progesterone options are available if the pessaries weren't sufficient for you. The 23rd is only a couple of weeks away, so at least you haven't got long to wait to find out what the plan going forward is. Good luck 🍀🍀🍀

Thinking of you today @unknownscot 💓🍀💓🍀

Thanks @BambiOnIce80 you're right - it's this afternoon! Super busy work wise this morning which is a good distraction. I feel a bit queasy and not sure if it's the thought of the appt or something else. Hard to tell today!!
MIL drama - well there is always one over christmas plans so this year is no exception. We've decided to stay at home over christmas this year and pend any visits to family/ friends for the new year for various reasons - the early pg being one of them. My family are supportive of this decision but MIL isn't and is "upset and disappointed" about it - DH has received messages as have I and we've been asked to "reconsider" our position as if we see them then it's only 3 families (clearly not bothered about me seeing my family). Sigh. This behaviour happens from time to time so nothing new but is still irritating. I'm sure we won't be the only family this year to wait until a later time to see loved ones and celebrate then!!

TheGlitterFairy · 07/12/2020 10:18

@ivfjourney5 wow!! I hope the line keeps getting darker for you as time progresses!! :)

@Gardenlady543 sorry to hear that you've had bleeding again and are not hopeful of things. As @BambiOnIce80 suggested - maybe if they can do a progesterone test to check levels then it's just more info for another round should you need one.

unknownscot · 07/12/2020 11:09

Thank you guys. Bloods done - they said they would call between 2-4pm so just keeping busy and upbeat as much as I can.
Refused to do a HPT this morning.

Good luck to @SpyroC and @TheGlitterFairy and I'm sure someone else has something today, apologies I've forgotten who!!

Xx

unknownscot · 07/12/2020 12:36

It's negative unfortunately. I'll be sure to check in with you all soon. 🤞🏼✨

Gardenlady543 · 07/12/2020 12:44

I’m so sorry @unknownscot I hope you are feeling ok.

Gardenlady543 · 07/12/2020 12:51

Thanks @BambiOnIce80 and @TheGlitterFairy I think from what you guys on the forum have said and also the clinic, a fresh and frozen cycle are quite different. I will also have a bit of an advantage as we had to transfer the worst graded embryo in this fresh cycle, so I’ll have one of the better graded frozen ones in the FET cycle, I have an appointment for a week on Thursday to talk about the next cycle, so not long to wait, but also time to get myself together, I can’t imagine it was that nice for the nurse to start her week off with a very tearful patient! So some time to get my head together for a serious conversation is probably needed.

The nurse said they don’t monitor progesterone in fresh cycles but maybe could do it before the transfer in a frozen cycle, so I can discuss this, I think clinics differ in how seriously they take progesterone level.

It may all have been a coincidence and nothing to do with progesterone, just my body’s way of saying it’s had enough, the fresh cycles are a lot for our bodies to handle. I think I deserve a crisp sandwich now!!

BambiOnIce80 · 07/12/2020 13:40

I'm so, so sorry @unknownscot 💙 Take your time to process it, but please do keep in touch about what the next steps are for you.x

You definitely deserve a crisp sandwich @Gardenlady543! 😂 I defy anyone not to sob their heart out after all we put ourselves through and the emotional/physical/hormonal toll that it takes. You look after yourself today.x

@BonTon, not sure what time you're in for ET, but thinking of you 💓 🍀💓🍀

BonTon · 07/12/2020 14:00

Thanks so much for all the well wishes everyone. I am PASP (pregnant and staying pregnant) 🙏😂

@unknownscot sorry to hear your news and hope you can relax a bit today. Similarly @Gardenlady543... hopefully you both at least have Christmas to look forward to. Sending hugs.

@ivfjourney5 what a result! Congratulations. Did your husband find the surprise?!

So much luck to @TheGlitterFairy and @SpyroC with scans today.

How are you feeling @BambiOnIce80?

❤️

BonTon · 07/12/2020 14:04

I’ve suddenly just thought that perhaps my message to @unknownscot and @Gardenlady543 might sound flippant. I didn’t mean it to and just mentioned Christmas as that’s the thought I’m trying to console myself with if it’s another BFN! I hope you girls are ok! xx

Gardenlady543 · 07/12/2020 15:22

@BonTon don’t worry, I didn’t take it that way at all. I’m not really into Xmas, so just going to do things I like doing over the next few weeks and look forward to a FET cycle in January (I hope). It would have been great to have success this time- I was already planning out the August birth and having a baby that’s a few months old to show off at Xmas neck year, but that reality wasn’t meant to be. It’s only my first IVF cycle so I can’t really complain, I know so many people on this thread have really been through it all.

ivfjourney5 · 07/12/2020 16:31

@Gardenlady543 you sound like you have a really good mentality, and with the clinic being proactive about booking your review you'll be up and going again before you know it! You've got a fab number frozen, stay strong, you've got this 💪🏼

@TheGlitterFairy thank you! I hope your scan went well this afternoon! Urgh I hope you can ignore the MIL, they are never usually helpful are they!

@unknownscot im sorry 😢 take some time for yourself. Is your DH home or your sister to keep you company? 💐

@BonTon thank you! Yes DH found it but he didn't see the line, and he came down thinking it was negative! I love your motto of PASP

SpyroC · 07/12/2020 18:34

I'm so sorry @Gardenlady543 I had a similar thing with my first 2 cycles and I do believe the improved dose of progesterone made a difference. Lubion alone should be sufficient in most cases however, I wish they would just flipping check! As some of us just don't absorb artificial progesterone as well. It's good that they have booked you in for a review already. Enjoy your crisp sandwich and take care Thanks

Massive congratulations 🎉 @ivfjourney5 it just goes to show that we really do have to be our own advocates!

@Gardenlady543 @BambiOnIce80 I'm pretty sure our follicles don't make corpus luteums in a fresh cycle as they are aspirated before they lutenise (I think). My cycles are always fresh, funnily enough I actually asked this at my scan today.

I'm so sorry @unknownscot please take care of each other. This process is so cruel

Congratulations on being pasp 😂 (I like it!) 🙌🏻 @BonTon

Thanks for the well wishes. My little bean has a strong heart beat and is measuring spot in 💗. So relieved, I have been very anxious all day.

Gardenlady543 · 07/12/2020 18:48

Thanks @SpyroC I’m glad you’ve had some good news at your scan today.

Hopefully my consultant is up for checking my progesterone the day before the implant in the FET cycle. Even if it means a last minute cancellation and a rethink before the next go.

TheGlitterFairy · 07/12/2020 21:58

@BonTon congrats on being PASP!! Love the acronym!!

@Gardenlady543 sounds a great way forward in checking the progesterone level before hand. As much as I’ve hated the ass injections - they do deliver a large amount so maybe worth thinking about in the future depending on your levels at the time of course.

@unknownscot so sorry to hear this today. Hope you’re able to take time to regroup and carve a way forward.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts today also. As @SpyroC I had good news at the scan too and all is looking as it should be at this stage. After the many years of trying to get to this point it’s still very surreal and we’re thankful that we’re here right now.

Wishing everyone a restful evening xx

TheGlitterFairy · 07/12/2020 21:58

@ivfjourney5 hahaha - no, often not!!! 😂

unknownscot · 08/12/2020 08:59

@Gardenlady543 @BambiOnIce80 @BonTon @SpyroC @TheGlitterFairy
Thank you to each of you for your words.

@ivfjourney5 Thank you. Yes, luckily my husband is home. We managed to kind of work around his schedule so he would be home for OTD.

It's such a horrible process to have to go through.
Perhaps more so during these times when you can't hug the ones you want to 😢✨

X

ivfjourney5 · 08/12/2020 17:16

@unknownscot and @Gardenlady543 how are you both feeling today? 💐

@BambiOnIce80 best of luck for tomorrow! 🤞🏼

@BonTon I hope you're doing okay and managing to not symptom spot yet

@SpyroC thank you! Fabulous news from your scan, it must be a big relief!

@TheGlitterFairy great news about your scan as well!

MGee123 · 08/12/2020 17:23

I'm so sorry @unknownscot and @Gardenlady543 😢 Thinking of you both 🤗 it is such a tough process, and as you say, even tougher with the current world situation. Hope you have people near you who can support you at this time.

@BambiOnIce80 thinking of you for tomorrow 🤞🤞🤞 do let us know how you get on x

Congrats @BonTon ! I love the idea of PASP! How are you feeling? And when is OTD?

@ivfjourney5 tentative congrats! 🥳 hope the line continues to darken for you 🤞🤞🤞

Hope everyone else is keeping well too x

unknownscot · 08/12/2020 18:29

@ivfjourney5
I've been alright - tears and laughter mixed together.

I've been trying to learn what the term for all of this is but there doesn't seem to be one which is so sad.
ie - it's not a chemical pregnancy, it's not a miscarriage. How do you explain to people? It's so tough and actually so upsetting.

There was a baby. Yes technically it was a blastocyst but it had its own DNA etc.

I'm finding it tough.

X

Gardenlady543 · 08/12/2020 18:44

Oh @unknownscot I completely feel you. I was due to see a pregnant lady at work today, when I read the information yesterday I was in floods of tears. How could I possible spend an hour talking to this lady about her pregnancy. I haven’t spoken to my manager for a while and I just blurted it all out today, how I was convinced it had worked and how it all came crashing down yesterday. I said I can’t see this lady, not in my current state, he is so lovely and said he completely understood and they will allocate the lady to someone else.

I had commented on a thread yesterday that someone had written about how hard it is to cope with an unsuccessful cycle. I said I felt like I had just got off a rollercoaster and that seemed to really sum it up. Today has been a bit easier, I’ve cried less, but I think we just need to allow ourselves to be sad. This is grief still, we have still had a loss. I had planned the August birth in my head, the pregnancy, finally not having a childless Christmas next year. But there is still hope and I’m trying to collect myself together ready for speaking time my specialist and discussing the next steps.

Have you got any frosties, are you looking at a fresh cycle, it would be good to know your plan. I just joined the Jan/feb IVF thread and I’m getting to know the ladies on there and their journeys at the moment.

unknownscot · 08/12/2020 19:03

@Gardenlady543
Unfortunately we had 22 eggs, 14 fertilised but only 1 made it. So it will be a fresh cycle for us.

Our 1st cycle was a GnRH antagonist with freeze all, they had said at egg collection that if we were needing another cycle then they would do a long GnRH agonist with fresh transfer.

We never discussed why they suggested this change so that's definitely a question for our review meeting.

I have everything crossed for the rest of the ladies in this thread as I would never wish this hurt on anyone x

SpyroC · 08/12/2020 19:26

@unknownscot@Gardenlady543 it is definitely grief that we go through following a failed cycle. There is no right or wrong way to deal with it, I tend to crack on and delve (obsessively) in to research for the next round whereas DH has needed to cry and be sad for a few days (I think I was prepared for the bfns as my body let me know whereas he had more hope) . I found it useful to talk to a councillor from the clinic. Take care of yourselves and remember it is common for it to take 3 full rounds ( I found this reassuring) though of course we all wish to be the lucky 1st time success stories. X

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow @BambiOnIce80 x

BonTon · 08/12/2020 20:48

Evening all.

So sorry you guys are feeling so awful @Gardenlady543 and @unknownscot. I know exactly how you feel after our failed cycle in August and it’s dreadful. Hopefully you will feel better in time and I try to remind myself that this process works in the end for the vast majority of people, although it might not work immediately. I keep repeating that mantra!! Thinking of you both.

@BambiOnIce80 so much luck for tomorrow. I have everything crossed for you. ❤️

@MGee123, @ivfjourney5 feeling fine thanks other than I have diarrhoea (sorry TMI I’m sure). I feel fine in myself but a bit worried I might get dehydrated... have messaged the nurses. Has anyone else had that as a side effect from the progesterone? How are you both feeling? Have you done another test @ivfjourney5? OTD is 21 December!!!! 😭😭

A small win is my progesterone yesterday was 92, three times that of my first transfer, so hopefully that’s a good thing!

Gardenlady543 · 08/12/2020 20:51

@unknownscot it’s good they’ve already got the plan considered, I think the cycles always add information to change things for the future, it’s such a shame you only had the 1 embryo this time but I have everything crossed you’ll get lots more next time with a bit of tweaking.
