November IVF/FET

... Too soon?! 😁😉

Been waiting on a FET since we were put on July's list and I've heard from our clinic this week that I've to call them when AF rocks up in October for a November FET. We had our fresh cycle in January, had a BFP, but found there was no heartbeat at the 11 week scan in March (MMC) - it's been a bit of a roller-coaster so far this year (as if covid craziness wasn't enough!).

Found having a thread to go through it all with a massive emotional support, so looking for some MN buddies to do it all again with. Good luck ladies and looking forward to 'meeting' you 🍀🙂

Thank you so much everyone, this is such a lovely group and good to talk to ppl who truly understand the frustrations. I had no idea oestrogen was so crucial to the luteal phase as everyone just talks about progesterone, but apparently mine dipped right down, and so they were concerned that it may mean the lining wasn't receptive enough. Really appreciate them making that call though, as gutting as it is, as I would hate to waste another embryo. I wasn't really in a fit state to ask good questions when the doc called earlier, but I wrote all my concerns in an email and they've addressed then really well. They've still advised a medicated cycle but without down-reg, and with oestrogen patches/prontogest/lubion, plus they monitor closely, so feel a bit more hopeful that maybe it could work. For now, I am having a shitload of cake and wine, and enjoying not having to eat healthily.😊

@bambionice80 that is a frustrating position to be in, but that still sounds hopeful. I think you've got the right attitude on it, but it's so tough when there are so many complications to this!

@Gardenlady543 you're totally right and it's really grest to support each other 😊 I will maybe see you on the next group but still holding out some hope that yours will be successful. Also I get your worries (I'm now thinking the same thing about my oestrogen dip!). Have you had investigations like hysteroscopy/endometrial biopsy? That's what they did for me after my miscarriage. I've also been on aspirin and Clexane to aid with implantation. May be worth checking other avenues with your clinic before any other trsnsfers if you're worried

PineappleC · 03/12/2020 19:17

@Lepatz thank you, and I'll bear that in mind 😊 I will hold on to a bit of hope for you too, as you never know...stranger things have happened in the IVF world!!

PineappleC · 03/12/2020 19:21

@theglitterfairy thank you very much 😊 you're totally right, and we at least have some more information from this. My issue with medicated was that I didn't absorb Progynova or Cyclogest properly so I ended up with very low hormones...bit the clinic went ahead anyway!! My new clinic are much better and have listened to me, so there is some hope. Hope all is well with you 😊

@BambiOnIce80 your such a lovely and strong lady just from reading your posts, as much as I respect and adore everyone on this thread, your just so sweet and my favourite on the thread! I’m really praying this is a pregnancy for you because you deserve it and if I had a result like yours I honestly would be optimistic but err on the side of caution. My experience (which of course you can ask) was the indeed the 14 week TFMR I had which was the only pregnancy I’ve ever had bar my current one. Last December I was due a laparoscopy for endo and blocked tube. I was CD15 on my cycle. When admitted to hospital for the op I did the routine urine test before any operation and the doctor came to my cubicle and was even surprised (I’ve never been pregnant before in my life due to PCOS/block tube) and he told me it showed a faint line and wanted my permission to postpone the op which of course I did. He requested bloods for HCG and it came back that day as 9! So they wanted me in every couple of days and it rose ! One of the doctors told me it was still travelling and I didn’t realise a bit of HCG before implantation. What’s even more miraculous was I ovulated from my left ovary which has a blocked Fallopian tube and my right fallopian swept my egg. I was due IVF Feb of this year but cancelled it as I fell pregnant but sadly my baby had chromosomal issues which meant I had to terminate. My baby was a fighter, a little boy and I will always love him and he will always be my first child.
Now whilst my experience could be considered a rarity I honestly think you should press on to look into FRERs and more blood tests. Don’t give up until you know it’s over for sure. The next blood test will tell you. Xxx

Oh @BambiOnIce80 what a pickle! But possibly a good pickle! You must feel so up and down? For the moment, you are pregnant, and 🤞 it goes in the right direction. I am extremely pragmatic too and am finding my overly positive and wildly unrealistic mum really quite difficult to cope with at the moment! I love her very much, but definitely won't be telling her when we do the next round! Do keep us updated, and hope you can keep busy the next week or so.

@Gardenlady543 I'm sorry about the BFN, but it genuinely might just be too early. I understand your frustrations - when we heard my fertility is poor I was quite gutted. Like you, I have always been a healthy weight, exercise a good amount, healthy lifestyle, minimal caffeine and alcohol, no smoking and have a really good diet. It felt so unfair in a somewhat self-absorbed way! Definitely don't give up yet, are you due to test over the weekend?

@PineappleC I'm so sorry, you must be gutted. It does sound like your new clinic are being more responsive and more responsible though, so perhaps going with their advice (if you can afford to), might be worth another shot?

@BonTon one hurdle at a time 👍👍👍 hoping you get to Monday and transfer goes well 🤞 the outcome of the last cycle has no bearing on this one, even though the BFNs are so hard 🤞

@granddesigns nice to hear from you and glad things are moving! 🤞 for an embryo on board for you before the year is out 😊

@Lepatz it's so hard to know re early test results isn't it. I guess everyone's biological schedules can work a bit differently so you never know. I started spotting today so am even more convinced a BFN is heading our way tomorrow. The spotting seems to start an hour or 2 before my next suppository is due so I'm pretty sure they are the only thing holding AF back. We shall see 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for the good luck for tomorrow ladies, I'm not feeling hopeful, but as we said, not out until the fat lady sings! (Although I think she might have her song sheets at the ready)! 🎶

Thanks for the kind words @PineappleC @MGee123 @Lepatz @BambiOnIce80 @SpyroC

Randomly I have been having really weird lower abdominal cramps this evening, lower down than I get during my period. Hopefully it isn’t injection site or constipation related.

Although I’m trying not to go down another excited symptom spotting tangent at this point, as cramps seem not to mean much as it’s in borderline period time/implantation time. I need to calm myself down and forget about it, there are still 6 days until OTD, it is so hard not to over analyze everything!! I so hope things happen this cycle, but who knows.

MGee123 · 04/12/2020 04:07

I've slept badly tonight so just got up to test. It's positive 😳😱

I don't know what to do. With all the spotting yesterday I can't bear to get excited, but at the same time...it's positive 😱

SpyroC · 04/12/2020 06:49

Congratulations! @MGee123 🥳🥳🥳🥳🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 I didn't see you were spotting yesterday but as you say a positive is a positive! Has the spotting now stopped?

Geep · 04/12/2020 07:15

Congratulations @MGee123!! Thats brilliant news.

Gardenlady543 · 04/12/2020 08:05

Oh wow @MGee123 that’s great news, what day are you on?!

ChicaXS · 04/12/2020 08:59

@MGee123 congratulations 🥳 I’m so happy for you! Welcome to the club! Was today your OTD? Xx

MF1981 · 04/12/2020 09:05

Great news @MGee123!

MGee123 · 04/12/2020 09:23

Thank you everyone, you are so kind! 🥰

Yes today was OTD - 11dp5dt. Still feeling rather shocked by it all, but definitely feeling pleased now! Scan is on the 23rd so 🤞 we get to that point and have good news + an early Christmas present.

I think brown/pink discharge would be a better description than spotting (sorry TMI)! And yes seems to have stopped so far today. It wasn't loads yesterday, but several episodes through the day. That + feeling so certain AF was about to start made me think we were definitely out. Aren't our bodies crazy?!

@BonTon my mum is going to be unbearable! Slightly daunted by how much yoga I have ahead of me 😂😂😂

unknownscot · 04/12/2020 09:55

@MGee123 Aaah, I'm so happy for you. That's amazing news ✨ congratulations x

SpyroC · 04/12/2020 09:55

@MGee123 sounds like implantation bleeding. Eeek I'm so happy for you! Feel free to check in over on birth clubs-ivf due summer 2021.

ImHopeful · 04/12/2020 10:01

@MGee123 so happy for you, huge congratulations 🎉👶🏼

unknownscot · 04/12/2020 10:04

I'm so sorry to move away from the good news but has anyone had any shoulder pain, I'm sure somebody did?
I also now have pain when I pee.
I'm presuming the worst, and feel I should call the clinic. Agree? I'm 8dp5dt x

Gardenlady543 · 04/12/2020 10:18

@unknownscot I’m the same day post transplant as you, another negative cheap test for me this morning (BFN on a cheap test), but I had significant pelvic pain last night and I hope it was a late implanter. So I don’t think we’re out just yet then, my official OTD is Wednesday.

I’m not sure about your shoulder pain. People can get referred pain if there is an issue in the abdomen pressing up against the diaphragm but I think the chance of something like that in IVF would be very low, so most likely unrelated. Pain on urinating could be a UTI, you mentioned you’re a HCW do you have access to a urine dipstick? I would dip my urine for any blood and protein if I were you and then speak to your gp if it flags anything up. The clinic are there to advise so I’d say have a low threshold to call them for a chat with most issues.

ChicaXS · 04/12/2020 10:21

@unknownscot please call the clinic , you shouldn’t receive shoulder pain, that can be a indication of an ectopic (again a very low 2% chance!) or can be unrelated. Have you taken a test? X

unknownscot · 04/12/2020 10:26

@ChicaXS @Gardenlady543
Yeah, my concern is ectopic. My SIL had an ectopic this year. The pain is now happening even when not peeing.

I've rang the clinic and left a voicemail. Had a text to say it's been heard and they will call soon.

My husband is such a cool, calm and collected person so thinks I'm crazy calling them when we go in on Monday for bloods but as I said to him, better safe than sorry.

🤞🏼

Gardenlady543 · 04/12/2020 10:35

@unknownscot try to stay calm, an ectopic should always be at the front of everyone’s mind. At medical school we learned “every female of a reproductive age is pregnant until proven otherwise, every pregnancy is an ectopic until proven otherwise.” However to have referred shoulder pain I’d expect something really severe to be happening in the abdomen such as a ruptured ectopic, the chance of this happening literally days after a ET is not likely. You may well be having implantation type pain, so these could be good signs. The clinic will sort you out if they’re worried, so there’s no need to get yourself stressed at this point.
