November IVF/FET

BambiOnIce80 · 04/09/2020 08:07

... Too soon?! 😁😉

Been waiting on a FET since we were put on July's list and I've heard from our clinic this week that I've to call them when AF rocks up in October for a November FET. We had our fresh cycle in January, had a BFP, but found there was no heartbeat at the 11 week scan in March (MMC) - it's been a bit of a roller-coaster so far this year (as if covid craziness wasn't enough!).

Found having a thread to go through it all with a massive emotional support, so looking for some MN buddies to do it all again with. Good luck ladies and looking forward to 'meeting' you 🍀🙂

@ivfjourney5 I don’t think they are given rectally as standard, I think that is only recommended if there is an issue with vaginal administration, but I think you should only change to rectal if you’ve checked with the clinic.

Gardenlady543 · 30/11/2020 11:30

I was on the pessaries at the time of transfer and my clinic said just don’t take one 2 hours before the procedure and if a dose falls at that time then put it in after.

ivfjourney5 · 30/11/2020 12:28

Thanks @unknownscot, @ChicaXS and @Gardenlady543 I knew deep down I was just overthinking it. I only have the pessary at night so it should be fine for tomorrow afternoon then as the majority of the gunk will be gone already!

MGee123 · 30/11/2020 17:47

@ivfjourney5 mine have been vaginally throughout and they didn't say anything about stopping for transfer. I just put one in on the morning as usual and the next after the transfer as mine was at 2pm. I was enjoying Christmas tunes on the way home from work and have eaten 6 mince pies out of the 12 I made yesterday 🙈😂

Oh my goodness ladies - night sweats with the progesterone...anyone else?! I only realised when I woke at 3am drenched this morning that it has actually happened the last few nights. I seem to have swapped the erotic dreams for sweat...gross! I thought I was getting off so lightly to start with with these pessaries 😂

@Geep that sounds like a good plan. I've actually booked Friday off (OTD) so I can enjoy a long weekend either way. It is so different between clinics! Mine said 16 dp egg collection.

I've been feeling a bit flatter today. I've got lower back ache, like I usually do pre AF. I was already very much expecting a negative but this makes me feel it's more likely. Hey ho. Not over til the fat lady sings! Still hoping for the best but on the flip side, if it's negative, I am looking forward to a few long runs and some prosecco or champagne!

Lepatz · 30/11/2020 17:53

Well, after a shocker of a day yesterday, it seemed well capped off by discovering a bit of pink when I wiped last night. Yesterday was 6dpt, so suspect too late for implantation - esp with a hatching 5 day emby.. (On my fresh cycle I had a little pink at 6dp, then proper cramps and some red on 7dpt. That was a BFN - so when I saw the pink I felt instantly out.)

However, thanks to the rollercoaster of IVF, have woken up in a way better mood. There’s been no more pink so far today. Still have low level AF type cramps, and my boobs definitely sorer today. Sigh, damn symptom spotting. It’s so hard to get a break from your own body!

@Geep @ImHopeful Looks like we all had our transfer on the same day :) Happy 1 week mark! I will do a sneaky test when you do yours, even though my OTD isn’t til next year (almost ;)).

@ChicaXS My OH is American too - we have been indulging in all sorts of naughty leftover turkey dishes this weekend! We’re avoiding the scales at the moment.

@MGee123 I’m 16dp too! Are you at UCL? Well done for holding out so long to test. And hope your flat mood lifts tomorrow :) I’ve been getting the night sweats too!! The first time it happened I was literally dripping! Nowhere near as fun as the erotic dreams ;D

Thanks to everyone who filled out my little form! It seems like we have similar frustrations… not surprisingly!

Annoyingly, I realised this morning that there was a page hidden (the one with all my ideas, doh!) So - for the three people who filled it last night - if you wanted to go back and fill it in, feel free to skip over the Qs you already filled. (Those who filled it this morning are grand.)

And Thank You all! It’s been really good to have something exciting to focus on :)

Melissa1983 · 30/11/2020 18:26

I've had my scan today and they were looking for a collapsing follicle so they could book my ET but it's still there. The nurse told me it should have collapsed by now if my OPK peaked Sunday Morning. I'm booked in for another scan tomorrow and if it collapses tomorrow then this cycle will be abandoned as ET would fall on a Sunday which they don't do. I'm feeling really deflated as I was so excited to get started on this journey. I like to think positive but if it should have already collapsed then I can see me holding onto it for another 2 days 😩.

ChicaXS · 30/11/2020 18:37

@MGee123 as you said it! Not over to the fat lady sings! Not long left now. I don’t know how you can eat mince pies btw, they taste like marmite 🤮🤣
@Lepatz you going to be all turkeyed out this month! There’s more to come in 25 days hun! I’m sorry about you spotting scare but actually implantation can happen 6 days after transfer and the spotting is usually delayed . Implantation it’s quite a long process so it could be that? Have faith!!!!

So I called my clinic today and spoke to July nurse. They didn’t seem excited nor displeased lol, just another call , slightly nonchalant even which took me back a bit haha! I them hung up and rang back straight away saying I want blood tests for my progesterone to ensure my levels are solid and also I want a doctor not a nurse for my pregnancy viability scan which is in 3 weeks. They said nurses do that but I pushed back saying I want my doctor since she got me pregnant she can confirm it and eventually they got me what I wanted. They are a bit over the place since taking a scurry of NHS patients!

ChicaXS · 30/11/2020 18:38

I meant spoke to a nurse about my BFP* bloody autocorrect!

Gardenlady543 · 30/11/2020 18:47

@Melissa1983 ah that’s annoying about today’s scan but fingers crossed for tomorrow, it’s got to be released soon if the LH peaked yesterday morning!

@ChicaXS if it were me I’d want the nurse doing the scan, they will be doing scans all the time. It’s like if you need your appendix removing, you want the surgical registrar doing it (who do them constantly), not the consultant. I was glad when I had a nurse doing my ET for this reason.

Gardenlady543 · 30/11/2020 18:51

For those who have had BFP what symptoms should I be looking out for? I’m 4dp5dt, should I be experiencing anything? I keep checking for spotting but just have normal white CM.

BambiOnIce80 · 30/11/2020 18:52

I'm so sorry that your scan didn't go as planned @Melissa1983 💐 If it collapses on Wednesday can your ET still go ahead? I really hope it's good news 🤞🏻

@MGee123 and @Lepatz I had epic night sweats and AF type symptoms in the last few days before OTD on my fresh BFP cycle, so it sounds hopeful for you both to me! 🤞🍀🤞🍀 The pessaries could be causing the pink @Lepatz - happened to one of my friends who got a BFP. Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🤞🤞

6dp5dt here and I'm not having epic night sweats, unfortunately 😔 I'm not getting any of the symptoms that I got on my BFP cycle by this point, so I think I'm going to let the side down and get a BFN. The thing that really made me dispondent today was the realisation that by this point in my BFP cycle my cat had started sniffing all round my face, which he continued to do until a couple of days after my surgical management for the MMC... he's not doing it this time 😔 I know I sound like a crazy lady (I really do!) and that my cat is not a FDA approved or CE marked testing device, but it's been a really disheartening day. The flip side I guess is that, after the initial upset of the realisation, I think it's going to be slightly easier to hear on Thursday when I get the result. If (by some miracle) it's a BFP, then it'll be a fantastic surprise. Not much longer to wait to find out, at least 🔮

ChicaXS · 30/11/2020 18:52

@Melissa1983 I’m so sorry you corpus lute hasn’t happened yet! So annoying. Chances are it will be tomorrow if your peak was yesterday. This is the one thing that annoys me about clinics is shutting shop over the weekend. Do they think ovulation and fertility works around their diaries? Ridiculous! It’s a waste of our time and money that they cancel over something this ridiculous!

BambiOnIce80 · 30/11/2020 19:02

Sorry - cross posted!

I don't blame you for asserting yourself @ChicaXS. I think I'm quite lucky at my clinic that it's only the medics that do the procedures and scans, so they're able to answer any questions/requests you might have. I hope they accommodate your request 🤞

@Gardenlady543, the literature I read said that hCG isn't produced until 6dp5dt onwards, so unlikely to be getting many symptoms at 4dp5dt. I didn't get implantation bleeding on my BFP cycle (just the cat behaving oddly! 😹) - it's not uncommon, but doesn't affect the majority either. Other than the cat thing, night sweats and dry skin around my nose/mouth, I didn't get any symptoms until about a week or more after the BFP. The waiting for OTD really is the worst bit of IVF.

Gardenlady543 · 30/11/2020 19:11

@BambiOnIce80 ah that’s reassuring, the only thing I have is: slightly bigger and sore breasts, but I’m quite sure that’s due to the progesterone!

SpyroC · 30/11/2020 19:22

@BambiOnIce80 gosh nightly random arousal 🙈 it's so weird as sex could not be further from our minds during ivf! I have everything crossed for you(& the others) to join the grads thread! 🤞🏻🙏🏻🤞🏻🙏🏻

@PineappleC I hope today went ok and that you have some action planned. 6hr round trips, now that is dedication 💪🏻. It sounds worth it though with all the extra monitoring they do.

Thanks @MGee123 I miss gin and red wine 🍷. I have to remind myself that at least I have a concrete reason to deny myself! Mmm mince pies. I think I'll try baking some ones on Friday.

@EasterBunny7 Feel free, the more the merrier 🙂. It's something like "ivf due summer 2021"

@Lepatz I just checked my tracker and my implantation bleed was 6dp5dt 🙂. I hope it's a good sign for you too! It was the same for me, had it when wiping once. Thought it had failed as that's how my previous bfn/ectopic went but this time it was literally just that once. Touch wood there's been no spotting g since.

Go you @ChicaXS bar ec I've never been scanned by a Dr. I'm hoping it's the nurse I've seen through 4 months of monitoring and 3 ivf cycles.

@Gardenlady543 for me the fact that I hadn't started bleeding and heavy cramping was what was different to my previous cycles but there are some women that have both and go on to get a bfp. You really can't call it. I did have mild af cramps and I thought it could just be the much higher dose of progesterone holding off the bleeding. The variations are what makes it so 🤪.

@BambiOnIce80 (sorry just got to your second post) my cat totally knew before I did so I don't think you're crazy 🐱However, 6dp5dt is still early, probably too early for even their super noses to sniff out that very low level of hcg. I had implantation bleeding on 6dp5dt so it can't have been producing much (if any) hcg yet. I have not had any night sweats either. Finally, I've seen plenty of ladies on here get bfps after expecting bfn as their tww was different to their last bfp. I won't say stay positive as I know how hard it is to do with all the hormones and "signs not signs" . I spent 6dp5dt moping around thinking it had failed. I really hope we get some good news on Thursday, you have been so lovely to everyone one here. Xx

MGee123 · 30/11/2020 19:27

Oh god @BambiOnIce80 the bit about your cat made me laugh 😹😂 he or she is definitely not an approved testing device so hold out until the real thing - you never know 🤞 I know several people who have said their pregnancy onsets have been different each time, with different symptoms/signs. That said, I think keeping it realistic is helpful (IMO anyway). I've tried not to let myself think too far ahead at any point. It is so hard 🤗 is test day Thursday?

@Lepatz try and hold on, you never know. I was told cramping and spotting can be normal 🤞 I've had some on and off cramping since transfer. Glad I'm not the only one with the night sweats! They really are horrid though so wouldn't wish them on anyone. No I'm with Kings Fertility. They've been really good so far, I think we'll stay with them if this cycle isn't successful.

@Melissa1983 im so sorry, that is so frustrating. I hope you get better news on your next scan. It seems very unfair that the clinic doesn't open at all to manage these kind of scenarios.

@ChicaXS you're crazy 😜! Mince pies are the best!! 😋 glad you've got the outcome you wanted for your scan. Do you have a date yet?

ChicaXS · 30/11/2020 19:31

@BambiOnIce80 don’t be disheartened- in fact your symptoms sound promising!
@Gardenlady543 it’s nothing against nurses but I have a fantastic doctor and it was her protocol that got me pregnant. As I am a nervous nelly I want her as my doctor to answer questions I have on my treatment such as the amount of progesterone she’s put me on (it’s pessaries and lubion) if I asked a nurse the question - they would state I need to speak to my doctor on why they prescribed the dose. Also i have better reassurance with a doctor since my FET was a PGS FET which again I have questions about. To each their own.

Gardenlady543 · 30/11/2020 19:53

@ChicaXS could you not ask the clinic to arrange for the consultant to call you, so you can discuss those things? I do that if I have a question that I feel only my specialist can answer. Eg when it was a question of DT vs ST, also when I developed the rash I left a message on the nurses voicemail and that was obviously triaged on as the consultant then called me back.

I think it’s fair enough that you want the specialist to answer those questions, but I’d see those questions as separate from the scan. Scans are a technical skill, the nurses are likely to have more experience doing them, with such an important scan, I would prefer that the person that does them the most does it.

Geep · 30/11/2020 20:24

Hi all.
Think i may be the one to ruin the positive streak. 7dp5dt and was pink when i wiped this afternoon and getting heavier. Will continue on with the progesterone gel until OTD thursday but not holding out much hope. Really dont think its implantation bleeding as its to much.
Keeping everything crossed for the rest of the ladies in the tww.

BambiOnIce80 · 30/11/2020 20:28

Thank you so much for being lovely @SpyroC @MGee123 @ChicaXS 🥰 As you can tell, I have driven myself more than a bit crazy today 🤪 I really have equated not feeling like a did last time (and more importantly, the cat not giving me a good sniffing yet! 😹) as a sign that it can't possibly have worked. It's really helped you guys giving me a talking to and reminding me that not every person gets the same pregnancy symptoms each time... there's hopefully some hope to be had 🤞🤞🤞

In defence of my non-FDA approved, non-CE marked cat, he was only 9 months old at the time of my fresh cycle BFP (just a smidge of a kit 😻) and now he's 19 months old, so a grown up really. Not sure if that changes his hCG sensing abilities?!

OK - strange symptom of the evening to share with you ladies. You know the sensation you get when your stomach grumbles? Well, I'm getting a mini version of that where I guess the left side of my uterus is... weird enough for you?!?! 😂🤣😂🤣 Definitely didn't get that last time! 😂 Wonder if it's a good or bad sign 🤔😉

Gardenlady543 · 30/11/2020 20:29

@Geep Sorry to hear this, but I’ve still got my fingers crossed for you, I think “it’s not over till the fat lady sings” is going to have to be this threads official motto.

BambiOnIce80 · 30/11/2020 20:34

Oh @Geep, sorry I cross-posted and sorry that you're having some bleeding 😟 I hope it's not proper AF and might be some early pregnancy bleeding. Fingers crossed it stops and doesn't come to anything 🤞🍀

OP posts:
SpyroC · 30/11/2020 21:04

I'm sorry to hear that @Geep I hope it slows down for you. You could try giving your clinic a ring. This happened to me twice so I had a plan for early spotting this time around (more progesterone) I've seen other clinics just up the amount with no plan in place.

@BambiOnIce80 don't worry my cat left my belly after I stopped fussing her earlier. Made me think she was only in it for the fuss and not hcg detection reasons 🤦🏻‍♀️. She's literally never hung out for long all snuggled up on me until during the tww! Crazy 🤪 🐈 👩🏻👩🏻! X

PineappleC · 30/11/2020 21:58

@melissa1983 I think the Clearblue digital Opks are a little too keen tbh. I think they dhow prak as soon as LH rises. I got my peak on that on Sat evening, but the cheap one didn't peak until Sun afternoon. Plus ovulation is normally 12-36 hours after the peak. So if your LH rises slowly, it could be another day or so still. Still very frustrating though and I really hope you get good news tomorrow 🤞

Thanks everyone for your good lucks 😊 We've now set up camp in London for the next week or so as I couldn't do that journey any more. My blood tests today showed oestradiol declined and progesterone has started to rise, so we are now monitoring progesterone until (if) it gets to the optimal level. I'm now joining you with injections...but of Clexane, whatever the fuck that is 🤷‍♀️

We also had our follow up with Jonathan Ramsay today (we have MFI). Really positive in that he seems to have identified an issue, and it's easily solvable. Assuming that's the only issue, we may be able to get pregnant naturally in future. So a nice start to the week 😊

Sorry to those who have had bad days today. Just to put my thoughts in: I've been pregnant twice (both MC) and each one had very different symptoms and strength of symptoms, so pls don't be disheartened if you don't feel like you did on a previous BFP. Also, progesterone supplements are a real bitch and mess with you, so it's definitely not over until it's over!!!

Geep · 01/12/2020 07:07

Morning.
Well im well and truly out the running now. AF is here in full swing. Thanks for all your kind words.
