November IVF/FET

BambiOnIce80 · 04/09/2020 08:07

... Too soon?! 😁😉

Been waiting on a FET since we were put on July's list and I've heard from our clinic this week that I've to call them when AF rocks up in October for a November FET. We had our fresh cycle in January, had a BFP, but found there was no heartbeat at the 11 week scan in March (MMC) - it's been a bit of a roller-coaster so far this year (as if covid craziness wasn't enough!).

Found having a thread to go through it all with a massive emotional support, so looking for some MN buddies to do it all again with. Good luck ladies and looking forward to 'meeting' you 🍀🙂

Has anyone had bleeding gums? I've not had them for years and years but yesterday and today when I brush my teeth they bleed. Can this be a progesterone thing? Might not be linked at all. X

Gardenlady543 · 29/11/2020 15:17

@ImHopeful I always said to myself when trying naturally “it’s not over until the fat lady sings!” (I’m sure we’re all too politically correct to say those kind of things these days, but the notion is still true). So try not to worry too much just yet!

@unknownscot progesterone can do some really weird things and the doses are so high in IVF so I wouldn’t be surprised. Is it when you’re brushing or spontaneously happening, if the latter you should probably call the clinic/tell your GP.

BonTon · 29/11/2020 15:21

Thanks for the well wishes @ivfjourney5 ... lining at 8.2mm today 💪🏻 but no transfers over the weekend at my clinic so I don’t start progesterone until Wednesday then transfer 7 Dec. Phew! Is your transfer on Tuesday? How are you feeling about it?

@MGee123, @BambiOnIce80, @Gardenlady543, @unknownscot hope the 2WW is going ok. I’m sure there are others in that club that I have missed too! @BambiOnIce80 and @mgee123, is it your test date this week?

@Melissa1983 and @PineappleC good luck with transfers this week

@ChicaXS @TheGlitterFairy and @SpyroC hope we’re all joining you on that pregnant thread ASAP!

Hope everyone has had a good weekend and sorry to anyone I’ve missed. So hard to keep track! xx

BonTon · 29/11/2020 15:23

Sorry @ImHopeful missed your post - that could be a good sign so hopefully you’re not out yet. What day post transfer are you?

Lepatz · 29/11/2020 15:25

Hey ladies. Oh bleurgh - I’m 6dp5dt and feeling so low. Since Friday I started feeling very emotional. Never far from tears - and everything OH does is making me crazy!

I also have a feeling that it hasn’t worked. And alternating between kicking myself that for only transferring one… and working out what I’ll do next. We have one more frozen emby… but I’m feeling like I’d rather get some more eggs out whilst I’m ‘only’ 41. Not sure OH will be up for another fresh round though.. I’m feeling so pissed off that I asked for referral when I was 38, then due to several false leads, it took two years to identify MFI… I could have frozen my much younger eggs then. Waah.

Sorry for the rant, I’m really feeling horrible today.

@BambiOnIce80 Sleeping has improved since I got my weighted blanket out of storage! I think it’s fine to be energised this early on :) Lucky you having OTD at 9dp - it’s 16dp for me!!

@Gardenlady543 Oh, the embyroscope sounds really interesting. It looks like my clinic has one - but they never mentioned it. I would have been tempted… Re the progesterone - I’m on higher amounts as on a FET cycle. In a fresh cycle you get natural progesterone from the corpus luteum, so don’t need as much :)

@MGee123 Sorry - I missed your question from ages ago! My OTD is Dec 9. 16dp!!! Seems excessive to me. I will definitely test earlier than that though. I also started with the erotic dreams last night too haha! One of the better side effects ;)

@IslandStars @PineappleC @Melissa1983 - Fingers crossed that your various cycles play ball - all the waiting is so frustrating.

@unknownscot I hear you on the lockdown/2WW combo being a mutual bloody pain. I’ve been cooking loads, xmas shopping online, and walking my 10k steps every day. But it is nowhere near enough of a distraction!!

@BonTon how did the scan go?

@TheGlitterFairy - thanks for the A/F bubbles recommendation - hopefully I’ll need it for Christmas too!

@SpyroC @ChicaXS Congrats on joining the birth clubs! Hope to join you there :)

Hope everyone has had happy peaceful weekends xx

Lepatz · 29/11/2020 15:31

Heh - missed 5 posts whilst scribbling my rant :)

@ImHopeful My OTD is a week after yours. I think I'll probably test 8dp though. How about you? Re the spotting - I've heard so many people having proper bleeds at this point in the 2WW, without it meaning BFN. And you'd likely have had a later implantation as it was a 2 day embryo transferred...Don't lose hope! xx

YAY on your lining @BonTon - that's fab news!

SpyroC · 29/11/2020 15:31

@unknownscot I've not had bleeding gums but I did read that the reason dental care is free during pregnancy is that the hormones often cause gum disease so it is more than likely linked. I'm prone to mild gum disease anyway but I find using an electric tooth brush keeps it at bay. I plan to phone the dentist tomorrow to book in.

SpyroC · 29/11/2020 15:34

Sorry your feeling low @Lepatz I woke up in a negative mood on Friday too (triggered by the fact I actually slept well so the 🤪 hormonal side of me concluded something had gone e wrong 🤦🏻‍♀️) I was tearful all day too. 6dp5dt is definitely getting in to the thought part. Stay strong 💪🏻 and try to keep your mind occupied. X

BonTon · 29/11/2020 15:38

Thanks @Lepatz and I’m sorry you’re feeling crap. I think sometimes it helps to have a good cry so don’t try to hold it in. It’s such an emotionally draining process. I’m not sure how near you are to de Beauvoir Deli but they do lovely cakes if you fancied cheering yourself up a bit with some sugar! Sending hugs x

ImHopeful · 29/11/2020 15:42

That's alright @BonTon 🙂
Best of luck for your transfer on 7th.
Im 11dpt and really scared, i had 4 days of pms and now its stopped, not sure what it means.

@Lepatz you calmed me down a little, thank you! i really wish that is the case. I did a test 9dpt and came negative, but won't do anymore until Wednesday.

Question for everyone i guess, do you use the progestrone passeries rectally or vaginally? I was told rectally but on the leaflet it says for ivf it should be used vaginally.

Gardenlady543 · 29/11/2020 15:46

@Lepatz

Oh yay we have the same OTD!

re: transfer of 1 vs 2, statistically the chances are better with 2 separate implantations than transferring both at once, so don’t worry too much about that. Also, I think it’s natural to have lots of emotions at this point, but it’s far too early to think it hasn’t worked! The main thing my specialist keeps telling me is to stop stressing, it’s so important. I love my weighted blanket as well!

BambiOnIce80 · 29/11/2020 16:37

I've been lucky with my skin so far @unknownscot , except for a few days after starting the progynova - that wasn't pretty at all! 🙈 I'm monitoring my skin like a hawk too because one of my pregnancy symptoms last time was that my skin below my nose and the corners of my mouth went crazy dry and flakey (not my best look!)... seems a bit counter intuitive to be hoping for manky skin, but 🤷🏻‍♀️ How's finding distractions going?

Your busy day sounds lovely @MGee123 😊 I'm going the cooking route too, albeit because I feel guilty because DP surprised me with an Eteaket advent calendar (my favourite 🍵 ☺️) and I got him exactly nothing 😬 I reckon a roast beef ribeye with roast potatoes and Yorkshire puds should do the trick 😋

It's definitely just lulling you in to a false sense of security @ivfjourney5! 🩲😂 By day 5 the tide of gunk will be upon you! 🌊🩲😄

I'm pretty much getting the dreams nightly now @SpyroC! 😳 At least the progesterone seems to be doing its job, I guess! And I think I might have taken your 2 pounds 😂 Not running and eating the same amount of food as normal doesn't seem to be doing me any favours 😏 I hope I'll be asking you for the link to the birth club thread next week, but che sera sera 🔮

Thanks for the alcohol free fizz recommendation @TheGlitterFairy 🍾🥂 I've got some Freixenet in the fridge that I'm waiting to try (or pour down the sink, depending on how OTD goes! 🙄), so I'll report back if I get as far as drinking it 👍 I love that you have a list @unknownscot 😁

I've read of plenty of ladies who have passed clots and still had a BFP @ImHopeful, so I'm hoping you're not out yet 🤞

Excellent news about your lining and that you've got a transfer date @BonTon 💪 My OTD is the 3rd, so still 4 loooooong days to go (I know it's not long, but it feels really long 😣).

OMFG @Lepatz, is your clinic run entirely by sadists?! 16dpt?!?!🤯 What the hell is their logic for making ladies have to wait that long?? Clearly none of them have ever gone through IVF! Off on a slight tangent - what's a weighted blanket and how have I got to 40 years old without having heard of one?! 😬 I've been waking up at about 5.30am every morning, but sleeping pretty well up until then. I'm sorry you're feeling so low ❤️ I woke up this morning and the first thing that popped into my head was a certainty that it hasn't worked 😔 I then thought it would be a good idea to watch the film Hatchi 🐕🎥 I spent nearly the entire hour and a half balling my eyes out whilst the cat stared at me, totally disgusted 😾 I do feel a huge amount better for letting it all out though! 👍

ivfjourney5 · 29/11/2020 16:44

Yesssssss @BonTon fabulous news!! Yes I'm booked in for Tuesday, I feel quite excited to actually be getting a transfer at long last even though the chance of success is minimal

@PineappleC and @Melissa1983 I hope you've both had the smiley faces today!

@ImHopeful I've been doing cyclogest pessaries vaginally, but I know it can be taken both ways. I think there's another brand that has a preference of one over the other

I'm also struggling to keep track, so I'm going to give everybody well wishes 🍀🤞🏼

I've joined the club of not sleeping well, I woke up at 3am and couldn't get back to sleep. Admitted defeat at 6am and came downstairs to then have a nap on the sofa 😂 I have yet to experience the 3am arousal though!

PineappleC · 29/11/2020 17:40

Thanks very much everyone! I got my peak on the digital OPK last night, but was at the clinic for bloods today and they said I haven't yet ovulated (I know it doesn't normally happen until 12-24 hours after the peak, so that figures). The cheap OPKs also didn't peak until this afternoon. Anyway the upshot is another 6hr round trip tomorrow. I've spent the whole weekend on trains to and from the clinic and am exhausted. I think I'm going to stay up in London all this week as I just can't face that journey every day whilst running my business. Will catch up on the rest of the thread tomorrow but hope everyone's doing well 😊

unknownscot · 29/11/2020 17:52

@BambiOnIce80 The distractions are non existent - but I have started The Crown so hoping I can focus on that. Although, every time I feel a bit nauseous I think oh is that good or bad and then off into the wormhole I go!

Yes, an alcohol free list is a must. Most taste rotten so can't be wasting money buying the same thing twice just to pour down the sink 😂

I too am waking no later than 5:30am which is so unlike me!

X

MGee123 · 29/11/2020 18:26

@ivfjourney5 the gunk will definitely hit - I was thinking the same thing after the first few days and now it is so gross 😂

@unknownscot sorry you're sleeping badly too - just wait until the erotic dreams hit 😂 I am working and am finding it okay. The distraction is helpful to be honest.

Thanks for the rec @TheGlitterFairy ! I highly recommend Seedlips citrus alcohol free gin 😋 @SpyroC and you don't have too long to go now until your scan! Exciting!

@Gardenlady543 how are you feeling? Is the rash settling down?

@ImHopeful try not to panic - spotting could mean anything, I was warned I might get some. Will keep my 🤞 for you

@unknownscot no, no bleeding gums here. Might be worth mentioning it to the clinic if it's a new thing?

@BonTon great news about your lining and transfer on the 7th 👏😊 what progesterone will you be taking? Will you be joining the gunk club?! OTD is the 4th for me. Feeling okay about it - very much what will be will be. Wondering if the crazy will ramp up over the next few days though 😜😂

It sounds like you've had a rough day @Lepatz 😢 maybe write it off as a bad one, have an early night and hopefully you might feel a bit better tomorrow? The progesterone does do weird things. I've been really snappy all day today 😬 I can understand your frustration about the delays. Time is so critical in IVF isn't it? I don't think I've ever worried about it so much before!

@PineappleC you poor thing with all that travelling. Having a stop over sounds a good idea. Do you have an idea when transfer might be yet?

@BambiOnIce80 roast dinner sounds👌 the TWW is also not doing my waistline good - eating loads and not running 😂

We went for a lovely 7 mile walk today though to walk off some calories from all the mince pies I've made and eaten this afternoon 😂 we just went the whole hog and put the Christmas tree up to, so I'm feeling festive now! Time for an alcohol free G&T and some crisps..! 😂

Lepatz · 29/11/2020 18:36

Thanks @SpyroC xx how rubbish that sleeping well becomes a negative trigger - usually it’s the main thing that sorts my head out!!

Oh, that’s really close to me @BonTon - the Rosemary Branch is our semi-local :) But I haven’t been to the deli. I think I may wander over tomorrow and buy… ALL THE CAKE! x

@ImHopeful I had the same cyclogest instructions/leaflet mismatch - I asked the nurse and they told me to take them rectally. Wishing you luck for the next test xx

@Gardenlady543 Thanks - I hadn’t heard that stat about 1 vs 2 before. Btw, I love your data-led thinking. I’ve been bit over-whelmed with all the info available.. but after two rounds, I’m thinking I’d do some things differently, should I need another fresh round.

Total sadists @BambiOnIce80 !! I definitely won’t be holding out that long. If it hasn’t worked by 12dp…….?! Oh, I love my weighted blanket! It applies pressure all over the body, and calms your heart and mind. Mine’s is the Mela - and it’s discounted for Black Friday right now….

@PineappleC - wow, what a nightmare round trip. Good luck for tomorrow :)

Feel a bit better after reading everyone’s messages - although I haven’t been the most active on this thread, it’s wonderful to feel the support from the group. The naughty handful of Lindt chocolates didn’t hurt either!

I’ve been making my own kombucha as an alcohol alternative and lockdown distraction! Though my flavours are a bit hit and miss so far Hmm Oh the Adnams Wild Wave Cider is a decent option. Though it is 0.5% (which is about the same as kombucha). I’m also waiting for a bottle of Salcombe Distilling Co 'New London Light' - it came highly recommended.

ChicaXS · 29/11/2020 19:54

Evening lovely ladies 🐞!

@SpyroC thank you so much for the birth club invite - I will most certainly be joining with a badge of honour to commentate this amazing and supportive thread! I’m only just gone BFP at 4 weeks and anxiety is kicking in already! Going to need the support for sure!
@unknownscot 👋🏽 I have bleeding gums! Started this week. It doesn’t hurt but it’s pretty wretched! I heard it’s the hormones. I’m going to wait until it gets calmer as some of my dentists in my area are still closed when I checked last month! I desperate to go for a polish and clean!
@unknownscot @BambiOnIce80 @MGee123 @Gardenlady543 @lepatz keep the strength for the TWW. Your nearly there! Keep yourself busy with baking and Netflix and whatever you can find, it will go quickly. I feel your pain I was there this week. Been catching up and you girls are going 💪!
@TheGlitterFairy I have been using seedlip with tonic but it’s getting a bit boring now (sorry @mgee123). Thanks for the Rec I will try that! And nosecco I love it!
@ivfjourney5 nearly there lovely! Believe in a good chance! If your lining pulls through it will be a good chance!!!!!
@BambiOnIce80 I hope you’ll be joining us for the birth club too, fingers crossed for you!

So ladies for the first time last night I had an erotic dream too haha. So weird and I freaked out when I woke up as IT wasn’t with my husband 😂😔🤣 I have had crap sleep since progesterone - I get 4-5 hours on average. I tell my DH not to wake me if I fall asleep on the sofa as it’s the only precious sleep I may get for the night. The night before my bank balance took a beating as I was on ASOS ordering cardigans and jumpers and at 3am 😂

As for my waist line pffffff it’s just getting bigger. After two years of keto I have thrown in the towel 2 months ago and now just eat what I want but I don’t go overboard. Saying that it was thanksgiving this week (my DH is American - don’t judge me) so I cooked him a thanksgiving dinner (a greasy Sunday roast pretty much) and two 18inch tins of pumpkin pie. I ate way too much pumpkin pie I can turn into a pumpkin! 🤣

Lepatz · 29/11/2020 20:16

Ladies, I hope this isn’t an imposition. I’ve been thinking about my frustrations with the IVF process, and started considering how it could be a bit easier for us all!

As people who are truly deeply in the midst of it, I’d love to get your thoughts and feedback.

It should only take a few minutes to complete.

Thank you in advance - please let me know if you have any questions or concerns :)

EasterBunny7 · 29/11/2020 21:57

@SpyroC

I'm not a regular poster, I'm afraid but I would love to join the corresponding birth club thread that goes with this November ivf group. I've checked out other threads of pregnant women with natural conception and it just doesn't have the same connection for me, if you know what I mean!

Geep · 29/11/2020 22:01

Hi @ImHopeful. About testing- i haven't tested yet but so want to. My OTD is thursday but might test on wednesday as i have the day if work so it would give time to process. Is wed your OTD? I was tempted to test tomorrowas itll be a week from transfer, but i only have one test in the house and want to keep it for wed (my partner has forbid me buying any more as he knows ill test early)

Theres seems to be quite a difference in when clinics say to test, i would have thought theyd all be the same but obviously not.

This 2ww isnt getting any easier. As the song says im expecting the worst but hoping for the best. Roll on OTD so at least i know one way or the other.

ivfjourney5 · 29/11/2020 22:59

Oh @PineappleC that sounds so tiring! I don't blame you for wanting to stay in London, it sounds like a sensible idea, I hope you the lockdown doesn't stop you staying over. Good luck tomorrow 🤞🏼

@TheGlitterFairy and @MGee123 im loving all these non alcoholic recommendations, I've got somebody I need to buy an non alcoholic gift for so these ideas are very welcome!

@MGee123 yey for the Christmas tree! Mine went up a week ago 😂 It makes me feel jolly so I thought why the hell not!

@ChicaXS online shopping is definitely allowed at 3am, I was searching for Christmas gifts this morning at 3am for my BIL 😂 Wooly jumpers sound so appealing right now!

ivfjourney5 · 30/11/2020 08:59

I'm probably over thinking this, but should I be changing the pessaries to the back tonight and after transfer, I've been using the front up to now

unknownscot · 30/11/2020 09:12

@ivfjourney5 mine have continued to be vaginally.

ChicaXS · 30/11/2020 09:33

@ivfjourney5 my clinic said vaginally is fine except for the day of transfer - it has to be rectally (presumably so the gunk don’t get in the way!)
