November IVF/FET

... Too soon?! 😁😉

Been waiting on a FET since we were put on July's list and I've heard from our clinic this week that I've to call them when AF rocks up in October for a November FET. We had our fresh cycle in January, had a BFP, but found there was no heartbeat at the 11 week scan in March (MMC) - it's been a bit of a roller-coaster so far this year (as if covid craziness wasn't enough!).

Found having a thread to go through it all with a massive emotional support, so looking for some MN buddies to do it all again with. Good luck ladies and looking forward to 'meeting' you 🍀🙂

@MF1981, if it helps at all I found egg collection absolutely fine and I’m a big wuss. They gave the choice of anaesthetic or sedation and I went for sedation as it’s quicker to recover from - I was completely unconscious and totally out of it when I came round. Felt fine once I sobered up! On the freeze all, I was also disappointed but actually I found the week after egg collection waiting for calls from the embryologist really stressful, so wasn’t in the right frame of mind to have a transfer I don’t think. It also gives your body a chance to calm down which I’ve read is quite important if you do have a large number collected. Perhaps ask if they can downreg you straight after egg collection - that’s what happened with me and it’s as actually only a 4 week delay xxx

BonTon · 17/11/2020 11:59

Yay @BambiOnIce80 !!!! Excellent news xxx

Gardenlady543 · 17/11/2020 12:00

@BambiOnIce80 that’s good advice Thankyou!
I had a bit of a tough time at the clinic yesterday to be honest. The technician was wonderful, she was doing my scan and I asked so many questions, she was the first person I’ve seen since starting injections.

Then I saw one of the nurses and she was not helpful at all, she pulled faces and just said “why” if I brought up a worry.

Nobody has seemed that concerned about my AFC, the nurse flippantly said they’d probably scan me in 3 days, and when I said that I was told either 1-2, she said “well we won’t be scanning you more than we have too”. When I said I was scared of the egg collection she wasn’t at all reassuring. My friend says try not to focus on her as I hopefully won’t see her again, but it’s not a nice experience when you’re vulnerable and need support and reassurance.

PineappleC · 17/11/2020 18:15

@gardenlady543 that's great that it will be a bit earlier than you expect 😊 Actually I only got 8 mature eggs because the other follicles were slow growing BUT they all fertilised and made it to day 5, so maybe light stims isn't a bad thing!

@BonTon wow that's an incredible number of eggs!! I think a freeze all is possibly a good thing and I wish I'd had one in retrospect as my body took a while to get back to normal oestradiol levels!

@mf1981 they told me to keep eating lots of protein to limit the risks of OHSS. I didn't get it in the end. Really hope you don't either! Good luck for EC!

PineappleC · 17/11/2020 18:18

@BambiOnIce80 thank you 😊 I've not been squeamish or embarrassed about anything do far but this is close to my limits! That's awesome about your lining and your ET date, seems like everything is going really well!

Birdladybird · 17/11/2020 18:38

Thank you for all your lovely thoughts ladies. Going for another scan in the morning so hopefully i'll get EC date.

@MGee123 good luck tomorrow at your EC!!

@TheGlitterFairy massive congratulations to you. I'm so happy for you! x

MF1981 · 17/11/2020 18:40

Thanks @PineappleC I know they’re just being cautious because I have a crazy number of follicles but it’s quite a scary thought to think I might get it badly. What did they suggest re protein? Like meat and eggs?

SpyroC · 17/11/2020 19:14

Welcome @Gardenlady543 . I am a low AMHer so I have no experience of bloating problems. The nurse sounds like a tit! I agree with your friend don't worry about her. I've never had a crappy nurse but I've e seen a few 😱 stories on here. It's a weird job to do if you're not overly caring. We all have bad days but still, if I can manage a front with 25+ teenagers...

Good job on the trigger @MGee123 why did you do A double? I did double ovitrelle as I always have several empty follicles but it didn't make a difference in my case. Be warned I definitely noticed the increase in hcg 🤪😂

@TheGlitterFairy AMAZING NEWS-CONGRATULATIONS! 🥰🙌🏻🥳. Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy! Xx

Good luck for tomorrow @PineappleC 🤞🏻 x

Congratulations on the lovely lining @BambiOnIce80 glad things are moving forward to you. Welcome to pessary gunk club 😂

The talk on sperm dna fragmentation is interesting. My consultant believes it's nonsense. I did my own research on this and opinions and studies are very mixed. I have a drop off between 3 &5 too (well thankfully not this round!) somebody medical on a previous thread explained to me why it is not necessarily the sperm, I followed this up with research of my own and her info checked out. I have my DH on a sperm enhancing lifestyle any way (just in case) so I figured there was no point in testing anyway.

9dp5dt a few mild cramps today 😬 but tbh it might just be my bowel 😂, it doesn't really feel period related. I'm firmly in the 🤪 faze of the tww! X

ChicaXS · 17/11/2020 19:40

@SpyroC well done for next testing this far! Mild cramping is a good sign! Hopefully your not symptom spotting too much! Lol@pessary gunk club hahah 🤣 but it’s true and welcome @BambiOnIce80 to the club! You’ll love it as will your washing machine! 🧺 I’m so glad your scan went well and hopefully this next week flies by for your transfer!
@TheGlitterFairy oh love I’m so so so happy for you! Congratulations! Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy ! The hard bit is over for you so well done 👏
@PineappleC good luck tomorrow! We will be thinking of you!
@Gardenlady543 sorry I think I’m too late in responding but I had 22 follicles and it was extremely uncomfortable- my nurse said to raise your feet, drink plenty of fluids and try to travel by taxi if you can. It goes away almost immediately after EC so don’t worry. I used a hot water bottle too. Hopefully it gets better.

So I am only a day after my transfer yesterday and I know this is going to be a long week. Thank god my job interview is postponed till Monday which leaves me less stressed and more relaxed. I commend you ladies however being great with your diets. I’ve not been very good this FET cycle at all (lockdown and fertility stress hasn’t helped) and two wotsits and a lion bar later I’m still famished! It’s the f🤬ing drugs I tell you! 🤣😂

ChicaXS · 17/11/2020 19:43

Oh @MGee123 good luck tomorrow. I’m a little envious - I quite enjoy sedation!!!! Lol

MGee123 · 17/11/2020 20:03

Lovely coming back on the thread this evening and seeing so much happiness for you @TheGlitterFairy 👍👍👍 I really hope you've got the good ball rolling for us all!

Great news you're nearly off the start line with your FET @PineappleC 🥳

🤞 for your for Thursday @MF1981 and hope you get some positive news at your scan tomorrow @Birdladybird. It must be quite disconcerting with the uncertainty of a freeze all, I can understand your worry.

Great news about the set dates @BambiOnIce80 and the good lining 🙌 I also feel so much better once I know the plan!

@BonTon that is very reassuring about the egg collection - thank you! I am a little nervous but feeling okay.

@SpyroC they suggested the double trigger because of my low AMH and AFC I think. Oh my goodness I felt SO sick this morning. I was chairing a meeting at 9am and genuinely thought I was going to vom all over everyone!! Luckily it's settled down through the day 🤢😅

Thank you @ChicaXS. Glad the interview has been moved and hope you manage to schedule some more relaxing but enjoyable things to keep you occupied? No judgement on the diet! Eat what the hell you want! If this round all goes pear shaped I've promised myself an epic Christmas 👍😂

MF1981 · 17/11/2020 20:07

Good luck tomorrow @MGee123

BambiOnIce80 · 18/11/2020 11:02

I'm sorry you had such an unpleasant experience with the nurse @Gardenlady543 💐 You've got to wonder why some people go into the caring profession! Hopefully you won't be unlucky enough to get her again 🤞🏻

I hope your first scan goes OK @PineappleC 🍀

Thanks @BonTon 🙂 How long until your next appointment?

Good luck for your scan too @Birdladybird 🍀 I hope you get a date for EC🤞🤞🤞

Sounds like your inner symptom spotting psycho (as I like to call mine! 😂) has come out to play @SpyroC! 🤪 Remind me how long you have left until OTD? It's all sounding very promising 🤞🤞🤞

It's definitely the f🤬king drugs @ChicaXS! 😂 I'm proud of myself for managing to keep away from the Ben and Jerry's for 2 nights in a row! 😳 My appetite is starting to calm down a bit though... and now we add progesterone into the mix, who knows what'll happen?! 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'm glad your interview got pushed back 👍 It'll be nice to have a few days to chill out a bit 🧘‍♀️

Thinking of you today @MGee123 💓

Officially pupo Grin

Any tips on how to get through the tww?

MGee123 · 18/11/2020 14:43

🙌🙌🙌 congrats @EasterBunny7!

EC done here - 6 eggs! 🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚 so chuffed as that was the max they were expecting really. Currently being lobbed into a Petri dish to meet the sperm and an update tomorrow re how many have fertilised. Booked in for ET on Monday with an update on Saturday re how they are growing! 🤞🤞🤞

I'm feeling fine so far. Was out like a light for the whole procedure. Little bit of abdominal discomfort but nothing major. It was so good to eat after I came round - I was so hungry! Have done the first of the pessaries and have warned my husband sex is off the cards for a while 😂

MGee123 · 18/11/2020 14:46

Forgot to add my husband is thrilled as he was complimented on the quality of his sperm 😂 they are exceptional quality according to the embryologist (all down to me if it doesn't work out then! 😂)

EasterBunny7 · 18/11/2020 15:41

Thanks @MGee123

You're not far behind! Keep us updated.

EasterBunny7 · 18/11/2020 15:50

@all

What's the earliest you can do a pregnancy test without it being a false positive from all the hormone medications?

Barely been a day and I'm already thinking about it.

Gardenlady543 · 18/11/2020 16:38

@MGee123 sounds like everything has gone really well, I’m glad to hear about your experience of the egg collection, I’ll have mine coming up soon and I’m worried so hope I have a similar experience to you!

Gardenlady543 · 18/11/2020 16:46

I hope everyone’s having a good week. I had my second scan today, which is day 8 of the injections. They said things are looking good still with 11 follicles on the way. They’re going to scan again tomorrow and decide to do EC either Saturday or Monday based on that. I told DH to release at lunchtime, so there is 3 days of fresh sperm in case it’s Saturday. If we find out it’s EC on Monday then I’ll probably ask him to sort out another release on Friday morning. The clinic don’t really advise anything except 3-5 days abstinence. I want the sperm to be as good as possible as he had grade 2 agglutinisation on his semen test.

MF1981 · 18/11/2020 17:05

Great news @MGee123! I’m crapping myself for EC tomorrow!

PineappleC · 18/11/2020 17:09

@mf1981 yes they always seem to say chicken and eggs but I think that's just because they have to advise lean protein sources. To be honest I was just having a couple of boiled eggs, a bit extra meat and a light protein shake and that seemed to go okay!

@mgee123 that's great news, well done! I really hope you get some good news on tomorrow's update too! 🤞

Thank you for all the good lucks everyone! Scan and blood tests today went well so hopefully this cycle will be my FET! Next scan is Monday (CD7) to check I have a dominant follicle then I start doing OPKs.

Having the scan on my period was not as bad as I was expecting, even though it was a man doctor!l. It's not an experience I'd rush to repeat though!

MGee123 · 18/11/2020 17:20

@MF1981 I'm sure it's a bit different for everyone, but honestly, EC was absolutely fine for me today! Nice little snooze, mild discomfort this afternoon but really nothing to moan about. Literally way better than I ever thought it might be. Try not to worry, I'm sure the team will take great care of you 😊 the people looking after me today we're so professional and kind, really put us at ease.

Great news @PineappleC! 🤞 for a dominant follicle on Monday. I agree re the period scans - it made me cringe a bit, and I had a male Dr too, but could have been worse! Funny how quickly you get used to taking your pants off in front of strangers 😂

TheGlitterFairy · 18/11/2020 17:26

A huge THANKS for all of your lovely messages yesterday - what a rollercoaster of a day!! Still in shock but very very happy and excited!!!
The number of tests was perhaps a lot @MGee123 but one needs to be sure about these things!!! Hahahaha! Think DH thought I'd gone mad!
Bloods came back ok yesterday and I've another one in the morning to check they're rising as they should do. Then a scan I think in 2 weeks @BambiOnIce80 - need to book that in tomorrow while I'm in clinic.
Sadly (!) the ass injections will continue - as do the blood thinning one and estrogen pills until they see a heartbeat in a couple of weeks then I can switch to a more friendly type of progesterone. So another 2 weeks of pain but at least there's a good reason for it now!!!

Great news on the updates on egg collections and scans on the thread!! It's all go!!! Oh - congrats on pupo @EasterBunny7 too! Just keep busy while you're waiting (she can now say as she's past it!) - easier said than done I know.

@SpyroC is tomorrow your OTD?? Good luck if so!! I have my fingers crossed for you!

@BambiOnIce80 really pleased your scan went well yesterday and fantastic to have a timeframe in place to work towards now too! Yay!

MGee123 · 18/11/2020 17:27

@Gardenlady543 so sorry, missed your comment. Honestly can't reassure you enough after my experience! I'm sure it is different for everyone but it was nothing like I thought it might be. Try not to worry, I'm sure it will be fine 👍😊

We were advised for my husband to ejaculate on Monday in prep for EC today. Not sure what difference it made but his sample was excellent today 😂
