November IVF/FET

... Too soon?! 😁😉

Been waiting on a FET since we were put on July's list and I've heard from our clinic this week that I've to call them when AF rocks up in October for a November FET. We had our fresh cycle in January, had a BFP, but found there was no heartbeat at the 11 week scan in March (MMC) - it's been a bit of a roller-coaster so far this year (as if covid craziness wasn't enough!).

Found having a thread to go through it all with a massive emotional support, so looking for some MN buddies to do it all again with. Good luck ladies and looking forward to 'meeting' you 🍀🙂

Just to update (and shamelessly bump the thread! 😂), I've received our paperwork from the clinic today confirming we'll be having a FET in November and to ring with October's AF (due around the end of October).

Starting to feel a bit more real now that it's written down in black and white 😊 Just keeping everything crossed that covid doesn't run riot and trash everything 🤞

Hey. I'm reeeeeeally hoping for a FET in November, but I think I might be being a bit optimistic. We have our consultant appt on Monday to follow up after our fresh round we have just had. It ended in a chemical at 5ish weeks. I've heard I need the withdrawal bleed which I had early September, a normal bleed which I'm hoping for in the next week or so and then can potentially start on the next bleed which would be November. All of this obviously only works if my clinic have space for me! I'm really hoping they do. We have 4 frosties after this round so I just want one back ASAP!
Excited for you that it's all booked in. What's your protocol like? I've never done a FET so I'm not really sure what the norm is!

Hoping1 · 26/09/2020 15:18

Hi thought I would join you and comment I also just received paper work to start . I have to ring on Wednesday when period comes to arrange meet so they can show me how to injected. Start injections 27th of October and all been well egg collection 16th of November I am on short protocol and icsi we are doing due to meal factor. Also nerves about covid hope we can all get through our cycle so somthing good comes from this terrible year . This is our first go last was cancel before we started due to covid xxxx

BambiOnIce80 · 26/09/2020 16:55

Hi ladies 👋 Thanks for joining me!

I'm really sorry to hear about your CP @Mseddy 💐 It's great that you can get going with a FET very soon though 🤞We have 5 frosties to be running at, which is probably one of the only comforts we've had after what we went through earlier this year. I'm guessing you'll feel the same ❤️ This'll be our first FET too, so only really know what to expect from what other kind MNers have told me. My paperwork says we can have a FET by either down regulated HRT (jab on day 21 on cycle, bleed and then onto oestrogen and progesterone), modified HRT (no jab and just start oestrogen on day 1-3 of cycle) or a natural cycle (so no drugs). Think I'd prefer the modified HRT option because it could all be done and dusted in 3-4 weeks, but I'll speak to the clinic about it when I ring them this week to confirm we'll be taking our slot. Do you know which one you'll be likely to have? I hope your consultation goes well on Monday 🍀

You must be delighted to be getting going @Hoping1 🙂 I actually quite 'enjoyed' the injections! 💉 😄 It felt nice to be taking control over something that for years I'd had no control over, iyswim? I do wish I'd video'd the demonstration with my phone though... would've helped knock a lot of self doubt on the head!

@BambiOnIce80 I had my successful round (baby daughter Maya is 7 months) after a miscarriage (12 weeks no heartbeat including 2D&C). It was a very hard time for us but now Maya makes everything worthy. Wishing you all the best in your next FET.

Now I'm waiting for my AF to start my FET cycle! Dont want to waste any time as it took me 3 years to have my daughter. Good luck to all xxx

BambiOnIce80 · 26/09/2020 18:57

Thank you so much @Maya0202 ❤️ It helps so much to hear a success story from someone who's gone through the same thing. I honestly can't imagine having a successful pregnancy/getting a BFP again after what happened the first time, so very good to hear (and it obviously doesn't stop me trying 😉). Good luck to you too 🍀

Hello everyone 👋

I'd love to join if that's okay! We're starting our first cycle of IVF right at the end of October (assuming cycles pan out roughly as per usual) so hoping to have a fresh transfer sometime in November.

I'm 31, we've been TTC for 15 months (18 cycles) with no hint of a BFP. Tests in August showed I have an AFC of 6 and AMH of 6.3. (Husband has super sperm - typical!). Given we've been trying over a year already the consultant suggested considering IVF. Emotionally we were ready and hoping to have a baby this year, so we've decided to get on with it and pay for a cycle privately. We have also been referred through NHS services but haven't heard anything yet.

@Hoping1 I will be following exactly the same dates as you if all pans out! We are also doing a short protocol, but not ICSI. I haven't received any paperwork yet. We have our consenting appt and teaching session re injections etc in a few weeks time.

Thank you for starting the group OP, it will be great to have people to chat to who are going through similar at the same time. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss earlier this year, that must have been devastating. Sorry also to hear of your chemical @Mseddy. This process is so cruel sometimes 😢

Fingers crossed already for you all 🤞

Maya0202 · 26/09/2020 22:57

@BambiOnIce80 I couldn't enjoy my daughter's pregnancy as I was so worried about the heartbeat. Mentally it was really difficult until I had my 20 weeks scan but seriously I was scared the whole pregnancy :(

@MGee123 Good luck! Hope you get your little rainbow 😘

BambiOnIce80 · 27/09/2020 07:57

I know I'd be exactly the same @Maya0202 💐 We were really cautious about getting excited (couldn't believe it had worked, too good to be true, etc), but when the doc told us at the 7 week viability scan that everything was fine and we only had a 12% chance of MC after that point we dared to get a bit excited... until the 11 week scan put a stop to that 😔 If we were lucky enough to get a BFP again, I don't think I'd ever be able to relax and enjoy it! 😳 The counsellor at our clinic is very good though, so I think I'd be hitting sessions with her hard if we were lucky again (very big if, I know!🔮).

Welcome @MGee123 👋 No point hanging about if you can get yourself into a private clinic 👍 Sounds like yourself and @Hoping1 are going to be cycle buddies too! It's great to have a cycle buddy 😁

Hoping1 · 27/09/2020 09:42

@MGee123 we cycle buddies how old are you lv and are you private or nhs . Have you sign all ivf paper work. Good luck everyone and my fingers are crossed that it all goes ahead xxxx

Mseddy · 27/09/2020 12:37

@BambiOnIce80 no idea what protocol we will be on yet. Hoping to make that decision with my consultant tomorrow. From your options though I agree that the modified HRT one sounds best. I love the idea of none medicated as my cycle is textbook and my lining has always been perfect on scans, but I'm not sure it would feel like enough after 2 rounds of full ivf! I mean I'd cut my right arm off to not have to take the bloody cyclogest beaver bullets! But everything is worth it to get and keep that bfp!!
My clinic where pretty quick this time at sending out consent electronically and getting my drugs to me really quickly. I had my nurse consult over ms teams and then started my drugs the next time cd1 came around. I'm hoping the FET timescale is pretty similar!

Good luck to everyone. Fingers crossed I get a slot in November and I get to be one of the cycle buddies!

Mseddy · 27/09/2020 12:38

@Hoping1 we are private and I've not signed anything for this FET yet

Hoping1 · 27/09/2020 12:54

I signed forms last time before we were cancel due to covid then I got paper that way I think I have received paper work again as I have signed already I am NHS just hope we don't get cancelled again xxxx

Mseddy · 27/09/2020 20:33

@Hoping1 so is this your round from being cancelled pre covid? I've already had my post covid round in August so need new paperwork regardless

Hoping1 · 27/09/2020 20:48

@Mseddy yea this is my first round ever we doing IVF ICSI and first pre covid . Been 3 years trying we just got to IVF and covid happened . I hope it doesn't effect any of us again just I can't wait to get start I have never ever had a BFP xxxxx

Cocomelt · 27/09/2020 21:39

Hi all :)

Please can I join in. I'm due to start my first short protocol around at the end of October.

We've been ttc for 4 years & are classed as 'unexplained infertility'. We're going private through ABC infertility as we don't qualify for NHS funding due to me having a DD9 with previous partner.

I didn't realise how much IVF would mess with my head & we haven't even started yet!

BambiOnIce80 · 28/09/2020 07:46

Welcome @Cocomelt 👋 I think I'll be starting my FET cycle at the end of October so we may be on similar time lines (albeit different types of cycles). We're classed as unexplained too and it definitely messes with our heads! 😏 Wishing you luck 🍀

Totally agree @Mseddy 👍 I'd love a natural cycle, but with all the extra monitoring they'd have to do I don't think it's the greatest idea in the current climate! 🦠 Plus my clinic won't do FET's at the weekend (to let the embryologists have some time off, apparently), so if ET falls on a weekend on a natural cycle, then transfer is cancelled... not a risk I'm willing to take! As if IVF isn't stressful enough! 🤯 Please report back on how you get on today.x

OP posts:
Hoping1 · 28/09/2020 18:10

Phone clinic today as come on early we have an appointment on the 20th of October to show me how to injected then start around 27th unless come on early again xxxx

BambiOnIce80 · 28/09/2020 21:03

Freakily enough @Hoping1, I've done the same thing today (CD1 here too) and I've also got my first appointment on the 20th of October - how's that for a coincidence?! 🔮 😄 I only rang to confirm our slot, but when we started chatting about what type of FET we were going to have (down regulated HRT because that's apparently what they offer people with regular periods) it became apparent that we'd clash with the Christmas shutdown if I rang them with my period at the end of October, so I'm booked in for my prostap injection for 3 weeks time! Soooo pleased I rang today and prodded them to discuss logistics with me! 😪 Think I would have lost it completely if we'd been pushed back to the new year! 🥺

Hope you got on OK with your appointment today @Mseddy? 🤞

OP posts:
Hoping1 · 28/09/2020 22:39

@BambiOnIce80 wow that is so strange we did the same today lol. Let's hope this a good sign for us both. @Mseddy how did you get on lv xxx

MGee123 · 29/09/2020 06:12

@Hoping1 I am 31 and this is our first time trying IVF, TTC number 1. We've gone private as we had enough money in our account to pay for a round - we had started saving to extend our house at some point but agreed if dont have children we don't need to do that! So thought we might as well spend it on IVF!! We've been referred through the NHS too but no news yet.

We have our appt on the 21st for teaching session re injections etc then should start the 27th too 🤞

I feel like AF is going to arrive in the next few days so think we'll be roughly on schedule. I have quite short cycles.

Exciting you're getting started sooner @BambiOnIce80!

How did you get on @Mseddy?

Hoping1 · 29/09/2020 06:37

@MGee123 I am also 31 and our first time i am nhs . I am booked for the 20th I have come on early so may start injection earlier xxx

granddesigns · 30/09/2020 16:44

Just place marking and hoping this might be my thread rather than the October one which has gone wrong! Our story is that I am 34 our diagnosis is MFI which means IVF with ICSI which we started in March but fresh cycle was a freeze all due to Covid. We froze 3 embryos and had an FET in May. They have now accepted I don't down reg very well, had flare cysts and it took a long time and we transferred an embryo at start of July. That resulted in an early miscarriage just after 6 weeks. We were due to try again in September/October but down reg hasn't worked again so they have adjusting the protocol which will hopefully result in FET in November instead. Just waiting for a bleed now as I've managed to ovulate after prostap injection..... system used to be like clockwork before IVF meds.... trying to be positive!

BambiOnIce80 · 30/09/2020 18:08

Welcome @granddesigns 👋 Sounds like you've had your own roller coaster this year - I'm so sorry that you went through an MC too 💐 Did they say why they thought it was possible to ovulate after the prostap? I thought the point of that was to stop ovulation?! IVF is such a minefield 😣

OP posts:
granddesigns · 30/09/2020 18:17

Thanks @BambiOnIce80 - yes, prostap is supposed to switch off everything -hormones and ovulation. Both times I've taken the injection I haven't felt like it
Worked- both times my body has fought back - initially creating cysts filled which oestrogen which prevented a down reg bleed and this time by refusing to switch off and carrying on ovulating! They have now accepted that prostap doesn't agree with me and isn't effective! They are trying a different approach which from a bit of googling this afternoon looks like a modified natural approach possible- they called it an short antagonistic protocol .... oestrogen tabs to stim lining and injections to prevent ovulation starting on day 1 of a bleed. Likely the bleed will be nominal though as lining is thin but hormones are not off! Yes, it's been a rollercoaster, just wish I had/will have something to show for it by now! Think I might recognise your name but tbh the threads I'm on list is like a diary of the last few years initially ttc boards and then ivf ones ! I'm losing track a bit!
