November IVF/FET

... Too soon?! 😁😉

Been waiting on a FET since we were put on July's list and I've heard from our clinic this week that I've to call them when AF rocks up in October for a November FET. We had our fresh cycle in January, had a BFP, but found there was no heartbeat at the 11 week scan in March (MMC) - it's been a bit of a roller-coaster so far this year (as if covid craziness wasn't enough!).

Found having a thread to go through it all with a massive emotional support, so looking for some MN buddies to do it all again with. Good luck ladies and looking forward to 'meeting' you 🍀🙂

My sucessful round was the one I was more relaxed and continued living a normal life. I had some glasses of wine after egg collection :), had one coffee a day, went swimming and practise yoga and no supplements a part from pregnacare so I think you really need to try not to get obsessed with IVF.

Had my scan yesterday and it has been confirmed my FET will be on the 15th of Oct. This is my 4th transfer .... and hopefully the last!!!

Jane1284 · 11/10/2020 20:13

That’s really good to hear @Maya0202. I definitely have a tendency to get obsessed! I think it’s partly because I don’t know much about the process yet and because I don’t have a lot else going on right now apart from work.

Great to hear your FET is booked in. Sending lots of positive vibes your way xx

MGee123 · 11/10/2020 21:23

The supplements area seems such a minefield! I take vitamin D, folic acid, vitamin B complex, iron and ubiquinol daily. I asked our consultant but he just said what I was taking is fine - I get the feeling he isn't a big believer in them! I always take the B complex vitamin because I'm vegan but have added all the others in since TTC. Hard to know if they make any difference but figure it can't hurt 🤷‍♀️

Jayne308 · 11/10/2020 21:45

Hi all. Has anyone tried dhea and its helped raise amh levels

MGee123 · 12/10/2020 06:42

I read up about DHEA and then spoke with my consultant - he advised there isn't sufficient evidence to support use of it at present. The studies are generally low quality and whilst they potentially showed and increase in egg retrieval, there is no data to suggest this resulted in more successful pregnancies. I've not pursued it for the time being!

BambiOnIce80 · 12/10/2020 07:44

Oooh, that's very exciting @Maya0202! 🤩 Only 3 sleeps to go for you!

I'm another one that's not convinced by DHEA from the evidence that's out there. The potential side effects/complications from taking it sounded pretty worrying too. For my fresh cycle I took whichever conception vit happened to be on offer at the time, extra vit D, coq10 and omega 3 for over a year beforehand. For the FET I'm just taking 5mg folic acid (due to family history of spina bifida) and vit D 💊

Hi all, I hope you don’t mind if I join...think I’m a bit behind some of you but would be good to have a bit of support!

I’m 32, been trying for nearly two years with polycystic ovaries and possibly tubal issues from some abdominal surgery a few years back. Our first round of NHS IVF was cancelled just before downreg in March... damned virus 🦠! We went private in May, had egg collection then a freeze all cycle, with first FET in August - that was a BFN but we have 3 Frosties. Just waiting for my period to start before another FET which should be at the beginning of December, although my cycles can be very long so it’s anyone’s guess! Did those who have had IVF before find that the cycle after a BFN was longer than usual? Wishing you all so much luck, such a horrible process x

BambiOnIce80 · 13/10/2020 10:21

Welcome @BonTon 👋 All the uncertainty definitely makes it a horrible process 😔 Sorry that I can't help with the BFN cycle length, but I'm sure someone will be along soon who can 🙂

Lepatz · 13/10/2020 16:51

Hi @BonTon :). Yes, I found my cycle after my fresh cycle BFN was a bit longer that usual - 2/3 days. So much waiting in this game. Sorry to hear about your two failed rounds before - hopefully this is your cycle!

@Katybebe Oooh, that itch! It's even worse when doing IVF than monthly TTC I think - so much longer a build up. I reckon by 6/7 days you might see a squinter. Did you test or hold out??! Good luck either way :)

@Mseddy Hello over here :) Looks like we might be cycling again together!

@BambiOnIce80 I start my buserelin on the 26th - just the usual shots though. What's the deal with the turbo booster one?? Mine's is a long protocol, so probably looking at mid Nov for the transfer.

Mancbear88 · 13/10/2020 17:04

Hi everyone
I think I’m going to be a November/December FET. Scheduled to start noristorene 5th November.

I had a successful first round last year but ended in a 13 year miscarriage. Then my FET was cancelled just before due to Covid.

I have a very lining so I’m on 4* oestrogen (pills patches and pessaries).

Good luck to everyone!

@Katybebe I tested with my ivf cycle really early and got a positive. Just don’t be downhearted if you get a negative (and test any tigger out). Fingers crossed.

BonTon · 13/10/2020 17:45

Thanks @Lepatz... my cycles can be up to 7 weeks long so here’s hoping I’m not due one of those this month! 🤞🏻 for you too.

Sorry to hear about your loss @Mancbear88 xx

Katybebe · 13/10/2020 18:50

@Lepatz still not tested and today is the day of my first missed period eek 😬 the days are dragging!!

@Mancbear88 thanks Hun 😘

BambiOnIce80 · 13/10/2020 19:01

From the paperwork the clinic have sent me @Lepatz it appears that the mega dose of buserelin is just their preference instead of doing lots of jabs. It'll still be a long protocol like yours by the sound of things. AF should apparently still rock up at the normal time after I've had the jab, then start progynova on day 3 of AF. 2 weeks of that, then scan for lining thickness, then start progesterone (or more progynova, depending on result) and ET could potentially be 5 days later... which might also put me at a mid-November transfer 🤞🔮

So sorry to hear about your MC @Mancbear88 💙 Hopefully you'll get a lovely thick lining this cycle with all that oestrogen going on 🍀

Hey. Hope everyone is getting on OK, I'm still waiting for my nurse consult to check if I'll officially be able to join you guys

@Lepatz nice to see you again! Fingers crossed for you again this cycle.

Jane1284 · 14/10/2020 15:39

Hello Ladies- I have my first ever nurse consult coming up. Apparently it is going to be over a zoom call and last for 1.5 hours. I have no idea what to expect. Can those of you who have been through this before give me any guidance on what will be covered and whether i should be asking any specific questions? I'm pretty clueless! Thanks :-)

BonTon · 14/10/2020 16:53

Hi @Jane1284.... is it just the nurse consultation before you start the medication? If so, I think the nurse will just run you through when and how to take all of the drugs. Some of them are really time sensitive or need to be taken with food etc. If you’ll be relying on a partner or someone else to help you with the injections, I’d get them to be on the call too. I would ask if they have videos you can watch of the injections at a later date as I found them really useful when I was floundering early on! My husband is a bit of a geek and put together a spreadsheet with all of the drugs and times etc which I really took the mick out of but was actually an absolute god send as there was so much to remember so I would really recommend doing that! Good luck x

I also have my own question - does anyone know what would be prescribed to induce a period? I’m hoping not a two week course of norethisterone...

Jane1284 · 14/10/2020 17:32

Thanks @BonTon. That's very helpful. I presume that they will just be teaching me how to inject myself as I still don't really know much about what kind of IVF cycle they are planning to put me on, when I will start the drugs etc. Not sure how learning to inject myself is going to go over a zoom call but i like your idea of asking for videos. My partner has a phobia of needles so I think I will be taking charge of the injections but I would like him to watch so he can fully appreciate what I am having to go through. Absolutely love a spreadsheet so I will be all over that! x

Mancbear88 · 14/10/2020 19:04

@BonTon I take 7 days of norethisterone to induce mine, I have had provera in the past too. Horrible stuff northisterone makes me really miserable and gives me headaches!

BonTon · 14/10/2020 22:09

Argh, thanks!

Mseddy · 15/10/2020 17:51

I had my nurse consult and they couldn't book me in on my next cycle on 2nd Nov so I've been booked in to start on 30th. I guess I'm technically just still cycling in November! But given I'm going to be so far behind everyone, I think I might find a December thread. Good luck everyone!

MGee123 · 15/10/2020 19:18

I've been wondering the same @Jane1284 - we have our consent appt next week. I'm strangely quite excited about it, although have had a bit of a wave of anxiety about the whole IVF thing today. Work is so busy and will be all winter. It just doesn't feel like a great time to be starting, but I guess there probably never is!

Sorry your cycle has been delayed @Mseddy 😢 how frustrating. Will keep all 🤞 for you for Dec.

Thank you @BonTon for the info. The spreadsheet/timetable sounds a good idea!

BonTon · 17/10/2020 09:54

Sorry to hear that @Mseddy.

I’ve managed to swerve the norethisterone and my period has started naturally 🙏... transfer number 2 should be at the beginning of December 🤞🏻. How’s everyone else getting on? x

Katybebe · 17/10/2020 10:16

@Lepatz @Mancbear88
Just an update, my period is 4 days late, took the test this morning and Not Pregnant! I’m devastated, really thought it had worked this time round my period is never late!! Feel like my body is playing a very very cruel trick on me, of all the months to choose to be late!! Now I just have to wait for my period to arrive 😔
