November IVF/FET

... Too soon?! 😁😉

Been waiting on a FET since we were put on July's list and I've heard from our clinic this week that I've to call them when AF rocks up in October for a November FET. We had our fresh cycle in January, had a BFP, but found there was no heartbeat at the 11 week scan in March (MMC) - it's been a bit of a roller-coaster so far this year (as if covid craziness wasn't enough!).

Found having a thread to go through it all with a massive emotional support, so looking for some MN buddies to do it all again with. Good luck ladies and looking forward to 'meeting' you 🍀🙂

Hey ladies. I freaked myself out yesterday with the how to videos for injections! Due to start progynova in a couple of weeks before AF is due and then start injecting around 7th Nov x

BonTon · 17/10/2020 10:43

So sorry @Katybebe xxx

Mancbear88 · 17/10/2020 13:04

@Katybebe I’m sorry to hear that. is that on your official test date?

BambiOnIce80 · 17/10/2020 14:27

Sorry to hear it's going to be a few more weeks for you @Mseddy 💐

And sorry that AF was playing tricks on you @Katybebe - she's a total witch when she does that 😔 Will you be able to cycle again soon?

Glad you managed to swerve the tablets @BonTon 👍

The jabs aren't so bad once you get started @MF1981 - you've got this 💪

I had a mini panic yesterday thinking my cycle might have been messed up 🙄 The nurse who made the appointment had said to expect a phone call the week before the appointment (so, last week) to go through a covid questionnaire... but it was Friday morning and still no phone call 🥺 I'd been watching my phone like a hawk all week! I caved and called them and it turns out that they've changed their policy and are no longer doing the questionnaires the week before, so nothing to worry about - phew 😪 We're all set for the prostap jab on Tuesday 💉 👍 Does anyone else find that this whole IVF/FET process is crazy making?! 😏

@BonTon thank you xx

@Mancbear88 yes today was my official test day, tested with clear blue digital too, just strange I’ve not had my period and I had symptoms of pregnancy but maybe I was just looking for any sign to give me hope I suppose 😔

@BambiOnIce80 I’ve got 2 more embryos left but I think I’ll wait a month or so before retrying again Thinking maybe December xx

Mseddy · 17/10/2020 15:00

@Katybebe are you on pregesterone? Like cyclogest pessaries? They will delay your period

MGee123 · 17/10/2020 15:21

Yes I feel like a crazy lady at times @BambiOnIce80 - and I haven't even started 🙈😂 TTC generally has made me feel a bit loopy at times. And I always prided myself on being so pragmatic and logical..!

Good news @BonTon! 👍

I think the injections will be okay once you get going @MF1981 - although I've not done IVF before I did have to self administer a course of injections once and it was fine once I'd done the first one 👍

So sorry @Katybebe 😢 it must be so upsetting and disappointing. Glad you have some frozen blasts though. Hope you are as well as you can be and have some good people around you to talk to 😊

Mancbear88 · 17/10/2020 17:04

@Katybebe so sorry it’s a horrible journey. Treat yourself this week.
It’s so cruel that the progesterone mimics the pregnancy symptoms/our body play tricks on us.

BambiOnIce80 · 17/10/2020 17:39

That's excellent that you've got two frosties still @Katybebe and I don't blame you for taking a month off. Good luck for your next FET 🍀

I'm normally the same with the pragmatic and logical @MGee123! 😄 I'm a scientist by day, so lots of analysing and drawing logical conclusions... but it all goes out the window when it comes to the IVF journey! 🙈

Hello everyone. Late to the thread but I'm on the same timeframe for a FET in November. May I join?

My history - have endo and low ovarian reserve due to surgery years back. Have been on the IVF journey years now. Round 1 resulted in a single embryo transfer that didn't take. Round 2, we had a couple of frosties (day 1) but they didn't survive the thaw so an abandoned FET. Round 3 - no eggs retrieved. Round 4 (I know - never thought we'd be in that boat), responded poorly and so the round was cancelled half way through.
Consultant advised we move to donor eggs, which we did after much soul searching. Wonderful, wonderful donor went through her round in Jan this year and we have 3 blasts on ice that have been waiting for us.

Due to start in March this year, and then discovered I needed another surgery before we could get going (the 4th in 2 years now). So, here we FINALLY are! So excited and yet terrified in equal measures.

Had the prostap to downreg couple of weeks ago, baseline scan last week and need a bit longer to down reg so another scan at the end of the week. Haven't used prostap before - it's been buserelin previously. I reckon that if we're good to move forward then it'll be a transfer maybe mid November. We're looking to transfer 2 given the situation we've had so far.

Wishing everyone luck with their respective journeys and @BambiOnIce80 hope all goes well with your prostap injection tomorrow. Not too many side effects for me - mainly feeling tired and a few headaches but not awful! And I guess it means it's working!!

MGee123 · 19/10/2020 19:02

Hello @TheGlitterFairy 👋 my goodness you've had quite a journey. I am amazed by the resilience I hear about on these threads. Wishing you a huge amount of luck for this cycle 🤞 We are doing our first ever cycle and if things go to plan (who knows 🤷‍♀️!) we would be looking at a transfer around the 20th November I think.

How are you @BambiOnIce80 ?

We had our bloods done today and meds have been ordered (ouch 💷). We have our consent appt on Wed and should hopefully start end of next week if AF turns up.

I had a minor flip out today as a child at my husbands school as tested positive. I'm so worried about either of us getting us and the cycle being cancelled. Just keeping my fingers crossed and nagging him to wear a mask and wash his hands!!

BonTon · 19/10/2020 19:40

Gosh @TheGlitterFairy, that is quite a journey and must have been really tough going. I really hope it all works out for you 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

@MGee123 ... the second wave is hitting just at the wrong time isn’t it?! As you say, hopefully if he takes precautions it should be fine but a pandemic definitely doesn’t make this whole thing any easier!

BambiOnIce80 · 19/10/2020 21:14

Thank you very much @TheGlitterFairy (loving your name! 😍). I wasn't too bad on the buserelin on our fresh cycle, so hoping that the mega prostap dose doesn't give me too much trouble 🤞 I think we might be looking at a mid November transfer too (if everything goes without a hitch 🔮), so possibly on a similar time line to you 🙂

Oooh, everything is getting going for you @MGee123! 🤩 Totally understand your flip out - I've been pretty much hiding away from social interaction and disinfecting equipment at work like a mad woman (and getting sideways glances from my colleagues for my efforts 😬). All day I've had a feeling of dread that the clinic would phone and cancel (to the point of avoiding looking at my phone 🤦🏻‍♀️)... I'll be soooo relieved when tomorrow is out of the way!

How are things going at your end @BonTon?

Am I right in thinking you have your injection teaching appointment tomorrow @Hoping1? Good luck , if so 🍀

OP posts:
Hoping1 · 19/10/2020 21:28

@BambiOnIce80 yea in tomorrow for injection teaching I am bit nervous but so happy somthing is happing . Hope everything going OK with everyone xxx

MGee123 · 19/10/2020 21:36

Good luck @Hoping1 🤞👍 we're having our instructions via zoom on Wed for the injections. Seems a bit odd but I'm sure it will be fine!

Hoping1 · 19/10/2020 21:54

@MGee123 hope all goes well for you to we at the clinic for ours and partner allowed in with me we also fill some more forms in regarding covid xxx

Hoping1 · 20/10/2020 14:32

Well been today ladies got lots of info really good parner got his blood test so he done. Just waiting day for period and by dates ec is the week before of what we thought xxxx

BambiOnIce80 · 20/10/2020 16:05

Glad it all went well @Hoping1 🙂 When is your period due so that you can get this show on the road?

My appointment has gone without a hitch, so I've had my prostap injection and been given my progynova tablets to start taking on the third day of AF... it really doesn't feel like enough 'work' compared to the fresh cycle! 😳 3 tablets when I wake up in the morning for 14ish days seems like I've gotten off really lightly! I guess we'll see how it goes 🔮 Was shocked to hear that my AFC was 17 (4 higher than last time), so slightly annoyed that we're not doing a fresh cycle, but 🤷🏻‍♀️

I hope everything goes OK with your zoom call tomorrow @MGee123 🍀 Can you tape zoom calls? I know you can with MS Teams 🤔

OP posts:
BonTon · 20/10/2020 16:14

Sounds like everything is moving forward for you guys which is great!

I’m a couple of weeks behind I think - due to start 12 days of norethisterone in 10 days time and then oestrogen, progesterone, blood thinners and cetrotide from the start of my next cycle, so suspect my FET will be the week beginning 30 November. Time is moving so slowly!!

Good luck for everyone starting injections soon xx

TheGlitterFairy · 20/10/2020 17:17

Thanks @BambiOnIce80 (sending you glitter!! Glitterball ) @MGee123 and @BonTon - appreciate your thoughts and wishes. Yes - quite the journey so far! I'd like to have exhausted all options really so if things end up not working out for us then we know we really did all we could to make it happen. Definitely no regrets on trying thus far but I do hope this is our time!!

@MGee123 hope all goes well with your appt tomorrow - am sure you can't wait to get started once AF appears!

@BambiOnIce80 great your prostap appt went well! Fingers crossed for lack of side effects. Will you be on the progesterone injections later on in the process? I've not had that one before - just the sub cutaneous ones - so have to confess to not looking forward to that one, though tying to just think of one step at a time!!

@BonTon I swear time goes slower than normal when waiting and in treatment - hang on in there!

BambiOnIce80 · 20/10/2020 17:38

I think IVF time is something like dog years @BonTon 😏 1 day equals something like 1 week, so my AF and being able to start progynova currently feels like it's 7 - 10 weeks away! 😣😉

Thank you for the sparkle @TheGlitterFairy ✨🧚‍♂️ 😁 I'm like you - don't want to be sat in the old people's home with the staff asking "so why didn't you have kids?" and thinking "hmmm... I wonder what would have happened if we'd tried IVF?" 🧓 🔮 It's just utrogestan pessaries for me progesterone wise once/if my lining is thick enough. I'm just hoping my ovaries are quiet and my lining is OK when they do the progress scan (it was 8mm today without any drugs, so 🤞). One step at a time is a very sensible plan... but of course I'm fretting about all of the above already and AF isn't even here yet! 🤯😬

OP posts:
TheGlitterFairy · 21/10/2020 07:40

That’s it @BambiOnIce80 🦌❄️✨🧚‍♀️ I’d much rather go through all we have to know we’ve done all we can rather than wondering if we should have tried something else when I’m old and grey (42 now!) Btw - I read the whole thread and was sorry to hear about your MC at the start of the year. A hard year to get to this point for your FET I’m sure.

Good news for you with no injections for the progesterone!! Consultant has said he wants to throw the kitchen sink at us this time so will have the utrogest pessaries plus the progesterone injections (in the ass) then if/ when we get to a positive I can switch to the subcutaneous ones til week 12.
Tbh - all seem to far away anyway that it’s hard to imagine we’ll reach an embryo transfer at the moment. Kind of feel that if we can even get to that point, having only had one out of all of it, then that in itself will be a miracle!!!! They don’t usually transfer 2 embryos when it’s a donor egg as expect them to work so I have a feeling it may be feast or famine!!! Hoping for the former 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

8mm with no drugs is excellent!! 🙌🙌 Fingers crossed 🤞 for the next 2 weeks for you!! Totally with you on the fretting. God knows how I’ve done any work the last 3 weeks with it all going on in the background !!! 😂😂😂🙈🙈🙈

Appt tomorrow to see if this additional week has me downregged to start the tablets. 🤞🤞🙏🙏

BonTon · 21/10/2020 11:14

@BambiOnIce80 I’m with you on the fretting! My husband keeps telling me off for googling but I can’t help but worry that I haven’t read all the articles on infertility quite yet 🤣

@TheGlitterFairy ... I had the progesterone ass injections every other day for my first transfer. Not the most dignified experience 😂 best of luck for your appointment.

Has anyone on here had / is having the endometrial scratch? The doctor has recommended it for this transfer, even though we have only had one failed transfer so far and it seems to be recommended for 3 or more failed transfers. That said, when we’ve already spent thousands, what’s another few hundred if it works 🤷🏼‍♀️

BambiOnIce80 · 21/10/2020 13:12

Oooh, good luck with your down reg scan tomorrow @TheGlitterFairy 🍀 My clinic don't check until after 2ish weeks of progynova, so I'm obviously already worrying that my ovaries won't be 'quiet' and the cycle will be cancelled! 🤫🤦🏻‍♀️ It's going to be a looonnng few weeks 🙄 Very exciting that they're letting you transfer 2! 🤩 Our clinic say they won't let you if the cycle is NHS funded (and I'm OK with that this round), but if this round fails I definitely think I'm going to push for 2 next time 🥚🥚 Our fresh cycle was self-funded, so I think we might fall into a grey area on the matter 😬 I'm 40 and the way things are going with how long we have to wait between transfers I think I'll be 43 before we get through all our frosties if we keep transferring one at a time! 🤯 I hope it turns out to be feast for you 🤞🔮👯

I'm desperately trying to avoid Google @BonTon, but (😬) I'm obviously failing miserably! I had a look into an endometrial scratch with our fresh cycle and I think my conclusion was that it was relatively low risk for doing any damage, but a bit mixed as to whether it makes any difference (it's 'amber' on the HFEA add on traffic light 🚦). If I hadn't gotten pregnant from our fresh cycle then I probably would have asked about it this time. I was quite liking the sound of embryo glue too 🤔

Hello everyone 👋. We had our zoom appt yesterday which was really helpful. Paperwork all signed and we're pretty much ready to go! Drugs arriving next weds and baseline scan next Thursday. AF should arrive around the 1st Nov🤞 Very strange looking forward to it for the first time ever!!

I will have another consultation with the nurse after the baseline scan next week to practise injecting. I will be taking 375 units of Gonal F daily then adding in fyremadel. They have recommended a double trigger when we get to that point. The doses reflect my rather rubbish AMH and AFC I think! We will just be having 1 embryo transferred because it's our first cycle and I am 31 (if we get to that point too!)

I haven't heard of an endometrial scratch @BonTon so can't offer thoughts I'm afraid.

Hope you are all having a good week. I'm hoping the next 7 days passes quickly!
