Hi ladies, I’ve been through all of my fertility screening tests etc and am due to start my first and hopefully only round of IVF (positive vibes Smile ) soon. I’m looking to share my hopes, experiences and tips and provide support to anyone else expecting to start a cycle soon. The more the merrier!

TRIGGER DONE! Eeeeek

Sunbird24 · 04/10/2020 20:28

Argh, so exciting @unknownscot!! Best of luck for your collection!

Should be a day behind you...

Lolly2020 · 04/10/2020 21:08

@Lightningrain that's good that the Fyremadel wasn't too bad. I think I'm getting the hang of the mixing now but so glad that one is pre mixed! I'm getting impatient for my scan next Friday, I want to know if its working!

@unknownscot good luck!!

mayihavesomecakeplease · 04/10/2020 21:18

I really struggled with my first Fyremadal tonight! I couldn't get the needle into my skin and then couldn't depress the plunger. Ugh. Any tips? Is my belly just particularly impenetrable?!

Lindyloolou · 04/10/2020 22:08

@Mrsmch123 Hope all goes well.

I’ll be keeping a keen eye on everyone with everything crossed. Just want to get on with it now - the waiting is probably the worst part. Xx

Dinky06 · 04/10/2020 22:22

@unknownscot awwww such exciting news! Best of luck and keep us all posted, thinking of you

@mayihavesomecakeplease I have to say I find some areas of my belly harder to inject and have had to bounce around a bit the last couple of injections. I think I find the flesh further my belly button easier to inject but no idea if that's a thing or not. In part I'm also just trying to avoid where I have already injected as well.

Is everyone in the group doing subcutaneous injections? I'm dreading having to do any intramuscular ones. DP mixes my drugs for me but I've been doing the injecting which has surprised me but I find it easier being able to feel where I want to inject than letting him loose!

@Dinky06 all mine have been subcutaneous so gone in the fat bit on my belly! For some reason the thought of sticking it in my thigh felt worse. I’ve had buserelin, Bemfola and menopur.

Dinky06 · 05/10/2020 09:56

Morning ladies, how is everyone doing? I've had my second scan and was told my lining is looking good and everything has grown nicely since my scan on Friday. I don't know specific numbers and sizes - I think I would obsess on the detail - but she said everything was moving in the right direction. I'll get a call with blood test results this afternoon and an update on if I need to change any dosages.

I feel heavy and bloated so no idea what I will feel like by egg collection!

Sending positive vibes to all xxx

Finally started my oestrogen tablets this morning, let's pray my lining grows this time and I can have a transfer 🤞🏼

@Lindyloolou good job you checked and spotted the syringes, hope you get it sorted quickly today

@Tara8, @ThePurpleFairy, @Mrsmch123 and @mayihavesomecakeplease how did the scans go this morning? Good luck to those who have them later on

@unknownscot yey for doing the trigger! Enjoy an injection free day today

@Dinky06 glad your scan went well, it sounds promising ☺️

Tara8 · 05/10/2020 13:52

Well done @Dinky06 you're doing well, hopefully not too long now!

Thanks @ivfjourney5 had my second scan this morning and all ahead of schedule, I think she said I had about 10 follicles at 20mm so egg collection now booked for 7.45am this Wednesday! Got to do my last menopur and fyremadel this evening and then trigger at 8.30pm...why is the trigger so big???

How are you feeling @unknownscot after your trigger?

Hope everyone is well after the weekend?

mayihavesomecakeplease · 05/10/2020 15:07

Scan went well, and was very pleased not to have to get a blood test - one less needle!!

I forgot to ask/count exactly how many follicles were growing, but she said we're on track for EC this Friday or next Monday. My birthday is this weekend, so would really like to have it Friday so I'm not stressing about it :)

Dinky06 · 05/10/2020 15:44

@Tara8 that's really exciting news! Hope this evening goes smoothly, do keep us updated!

@mayihavesomecakeplease I think we're on track for similar dates then. I have EC provisionally booked for Saturday but it will depend on my Wednesday morning scan and blood work. Really hope you get to enjoy your birthday and it brings you extra luck :)

@Tara8 I’m just on schedule with you! Trigger shot at 2100 tonight and egg collection Wednesday morning.

Did anyone else hear on the radio today that it’s British egg week? Seems appropriate... 🤭

SpyroC · 05/10/2020 17:40

@Dinky06 I've never had an intramuscular one. Is it prontogest you've got to do that way?

Mrsmch123 · 05/10/2020 19:14

Hi everyone...lots going on with people marching on through their cycles!Im back tomorrow for another scan with potential EC on thur/Friday😬

Lolly2020 · 05/10/2020 20:57

Hi everyone wow lots of EC happening soon! Wishing you all lots of luck 💕

I've just had a bit of a melt down during my injection 🙈 it started bleeding when I pulled it out...its never done that before and made me panic that I've maybe done it wrong. 😔 Has this happened to anyone else?

Sunbird24 · 05/10/2020 21:30

Yes, couple of times @Lolly2020. Nothing to worry about!

Lolly2020 · 05/10/2020 21:37

@Sunbird24 thank you!

SpyroC · 05/10/2020 21:46

@Lolly2020 it just happens some times. Nothing to worry about x

Dinky06 · 05/10/2020 21:52

@Lolly2020 awww hope you are OK.

@Sunbird24 hope the trigger went well. Super excited for you and everything crossed.

@SpyroC am getting totally ahead of myself but I think my protocol includes regular Lentogest shots which are intramuscular after egg transfer and I'm already nervous about it!

Mrsmch123 · 05/10/2020 22:03

@Lolly2020. It's just that you have hit a small blood vessel. Absolutely nothing to worry about.

unknownscot · 06/10/2020 12:18

22 eggs collected! ❤️

mayihavesomecakeplease · 06/10/2020 12:25

Great news @unknownscot! I hope your recovery goes well and you're not too uncomfortable.

Dinky06 · 06/10/2020 16:17

@unknownscot that's such fantastic news! Keep us posted how the next few days go. Do you have any tips in terms of the procedure to share?? Xx

Lightningrain · 06/10/2020 16:40

Wow, great result @unknownscot!

My day 9 scan wasn’t great but I guess it’s what I was expecting based on my low AFC. I had one small follicle on one side and one good sized one (21mm) with three smaller on the other side.

The big one is too far gone to continue stimming so we’ve decided to give it a go and try to collect an egg from the one mature follicle. I take my trigger injection tonight and collection is booked for Thursday morning.

The other option was to cancel this cycle and try again with higher dose of Meriofert but there’s no guarantee this would result in a better response. I’d rather have a go than regret it if there were none at all next time.

This is my only NHS cycle but the egg has to reach blastocyst stage before it counts as a cycle and I lose my funding. If they don’t collect an egg or it doesn’t fertilise I’ll get another round.

I’m strangely fine about it as I’d already prepared myself for it to take at least a couple of tries. I suppose all I can do now is hope that there is a good quality egg there.

Good luck to everyone else - it sounds like there are a few having collections this week.
