Hi, I’ve just taken my first cycle of Clomid and I’m on Day 10 of my cycle. We’ve been TTC for 21 months and this is our first go at treatment. Wondering if anyone else is cycling at a similar time? X

Period is is full swing and is awful again Sad I've started my clomid today 150mg so fingers crossed it works this month so this is all worth it x

Sarah5678 · 09/10/2020 08:09

Oh bless you @Bec18x. I have everything crossed that this is your month! Sending lots of baby dust.

I had some quite bad cramps yesterday and a bit spotting. Period due tomorrow/sunday so guessing the witch is on her way ergh! X

Emc16x · 09/10/2020 10:33

Hi Ladies. Hope you don’t mind me joining. I’m after advice and just to chat to people going through the same as me.

I started clomid this cycle on CD2. I’ve read that clomid can give false positive opks is this correct? Resisting the urge to test but a fresh batch just got delivered and I want to test!! How else do you track? I don’t have a thermometer. Do you look for ewcm? Do you get that with clomid? So many questions. You guys seem like the experts so I’m in good hands.

I took the 5 50mg tablets for 5 days. Now on CD9. We Bd’d CD8, and will again hopefully tomorrow and every other day from then. Is that correct?

I read that clomid can bring on dryness. Has anybody experienced this? I am slightly and it’s not nice! Xx

Hi EMC and welcome.

I'm not sure that clomid would give you false positive OPKs, my fertility consultant still recommends them for determining the fertile window so he must not think that it's an issue. In general I don't get that much fertile mucus and even less on clomid so for me, I need the OPKs as I would have no idea otherwise! But I've also been paying for private tracking scans as my NHS consultant said they only do progesterone testing to check for ovulation. I need the scans as my private fertility consultant has recommended an HCG trigger shot and Suprecur in addition to clomid to support the luteal phase and improve egg quality. I take those injections just before ovulation and then another HCG shot 5 days after so the scan is really important for timing in my case. I had a private scan yesterday, I'm on CD 11, they said there were two follicles measuring 11mm, last month I had one follicle measuring 17mm at this point so I'm a bit disheartened. I have a short luteal phase and my doctor thinks that's why I'm not getting pregnant so I really wanted my follicles to be further on by now to give me a chance for implantation before I start spotting which is usually 7/8 days after ovulation :(. I have another scan on Monday so fingers crossed.

I'm very thankful for this group for support as DH is getting sick of hearing me banging on about my follicles not being big enough now!

I think BDing every other day from day 8 sounds right. We've tried to BD every day sometimes and not only is it exhausting, it doesn't seem to make any difference. My doctor has said every other day is recommended xxx

Hiya @Emc16x !! I use opks and they have always been spot on for me but I know some people can get false positives. Before I started it I didnt really get much ewcm but since I started I now get a lot so haven't experiencee dryness, quite the opposite ha!

Also we try BD every other day as thats what my fertility consultant told us but if we fancy it inbetween then we do!

Hoping it works for you! Do you have irregular periods?

X

Emc16x · 09/10/2020 11:40

@FieldsAndSun thank you for the advice!! Sorry to hear your struggles. Sounds like you’re really going through the mill. Do you need to inject yourself? Crossing everything for you for Monday girl!

If I start taking the opks now is that too late do you think? I’m on Cd9. Would have to start tomorrow with a morning pee.

I can’t believe the dryness this has never happened to me before! Has anybody used pre-seed In the past?

@Sarah5678 thank you!! Yes. V irregular periods. Doctors are saying it could be the fact I was on the injection (came off September 2019) and it takes at least 18 months for it to get out your system. But they have been doing 21 day bloods on me all coming back negative but I think that’s because I’m so irregular.

We’ve been referred to the infertility clinic. The first available appointment was Jan 2021. My next door neighbour actually gave me her remaining packet of clomid to try this cycle. She swears that’s how she fell pregnant (she got them from somebody on ivf) I know it’s pretty dangerous but I’m desperate and don’t want to wait! There’s been tears, countless tears. My best friend Getting pregnant ‘by accident’ just pushed me over the edge. Xx

Sarah5678 · 09/10/2020 11:51

@Emc16x i was on the injection too but only had 1 and wish I didn't. It took 18 months before my 1st period and they were very irregular, after investigations I was diagnosed with pcos and referred to fertility.
Defo not too late to start the opks. I start mine about cd11 as I seem to ovulate bang on day 14 and my pos usually comes on cd13. Do them twice daily! X

Emc16x · 09/10/2020 14:11

@Sarah5678 I keep asking them to test me for PCOS. What do they do to test/diagnose? I do think I may have it. My mum does (but conceived straight away with me!). I’ve got some symptoms that’s for sure.

Thank you for the advice. I’ll start tomorrow. Just to see! Xxxx

Sarah5678 · 09/10/2020 15:19

@Emc16x they done bloods for hormone levels which were all normal and then an internal ultrasound which showed the cysts so the combination of that and the irregular periods/fertility confirmed the diagnosis.

This month I am going to start weight watchers or slimming world and try to focus on getting some weight off x

Gee1235 · 09/10/2020 16:20

@Bec18x hope your feeling a bit better now, awful isn't! X

@Emc16x deffo not to late my clinic recommend doing them along side follicle tracking just as another way of knowing and then they do a blood test to confirm ovulation and the say from day 9 if your cycles aren't too long so your deffo fine! I had a blood test for pcos and have had an internal scan!

@Sarah5678 how you getting on? Hope your doing ok and had/having a nice break away!

They wrote off this cycle for me as follicles we're being stubborn with nothing even about 10 so back to provera and upped the dosage to 100 of clomid this month and just started on metformin as well so fingers crossed next cycle is a bit better 😩

Sarah5678 · 09/10/2020 16:34

Hey @Gee1235 oh what a nightmare, fingers crossed for the next round! I wish I was getting tracking scans so I could understand a bit better but my hospital are not doing them due to covid! I am okay thank you, think AF is about to start, been spotting and cramping and due on tomorrow/sunday so it will be onto cycle 3 of clomid for me and then I should be reviewed by fertility and hsg arranged if no success next cycle. I am planning on trying to shift some weight after this weekend as I don't think that is helping!

We have just got back from our holiday and it was lovely thank you! Was exactly what we needed.

Gee1235 · 09/10/2020 16:57

@Sarah5678 oh what a pain! I'm paying for mine privately as doing clomid while waiting for my nhs refferal so I have to have tracking til they find the right doseage of clomid so it's pretty expensive every month! Oh noooo😩, I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you and sending you all the baby dust! Let's hope we get some good news on here!

Glad you had a lovely time away though sometimes you need a good distraction as this all gets a bit to much sometimes! X

babybumpfor2020 · 11/10/2020 08:02

Morning, can I join? first month on clomid 50mg. Had second tablet today.

How is everyone getting on?

Emc16x · 11/10/2020 08:58

Hi @babybumpfor2020 - I just completed my first 5 tablets. No positive opks yet! Started testing yesterday. Hopefully I will do soon! I don’t want to dtd until I see the positive as too much just really stresses my DH out. He feels under a lot of pressure so I’m not telling him when I hit peak this cycle xxx

Sarah5678 · 11/10/2020 09:04

Welcome @babybumpfor2020 fingers crossed the clomid works for you!

@Emc16x it is advised you have sex before ovulation also as sometimes leaving it until you get a positive opk is too late.

Af arrived this morning for me so will start round 3 of clomid tomorrow. Also starting weight watchers tomorrow to try shift some weight in the hope that helps

Emc16x · 11/10/2020 09:09

@Sarah5678 today is day 10 so perhaps tonight then every other day? Does that sound right? Thank you for the advice!

Sorry to hear AF arrived. I really need to shift some weight. I signed up to Joe wicks 90 day plan in the summer and loved it. Lost 11lbs in 30 days. Just didn’t stick to it for the remaining 60 days haha time to start again! Let us know how you get on in round 3! Good luck! Xxx

Sarah5678 · 11/10/2020 09:20

Yeah, my clinic said to start every other day as soon as period ends. The fertile window usually starts about 5 days before ovulation I think, if u have sex before then the sperm can survive for a few days amd wait for the egg.

Ooo that's fab! I would be happy of I lost a stone or even more to be honest. Put 2 stone on since we got together 4 years ago and I hate it!

Dbop100 · 11/10/2020 10:00

Coming to the end of my 2nd round of Clomid. I'm 11dpo and just caved and did a test. It was negative but my eyes were playing tricks on me trying to see a faint line. God the suspense is killing me. Don't know why I tested, it's too early anyway 🤦‍♀️

Bec18x · 11/10/2020 12:56

Cd 5 today and got 2 more days of clomid. My side effects are so bad this month! I'm so bloated and had nausea and headache. My period has settled down though which is nice. I also need to re start my diet! I had lost 1stone 7lb from April to August but I've been slacking and I've put on about 4pounds now but I need to lose about 2stone to qualify for nhs funded ivf . Hope you're all having a nice weekend!

Sarah5678 · 11/10/2020 16:16

Ah bless you! My first round I had horrendous side effecta but 2nd was okay...hoping this one will be! Yeah I need to lose about 2 stone to qualify for it too. Need to get my mind set on it x

Emc16x · 11/10/2020 17:54

Is there a certain weight you need to be or a healthy BMI? X

Bec18x · 11/10/2020 19:50

BMI needs to be 30 or below for IVF and below 35 for normal treatment like clomid x

Emc16x · 12/10/2020 09:22

Still no peak opk. I’m CD11 now! I know it says on clomid when taken day 2 you normally ovulate between day 10 - 15 so fingers crossed soon. Getting impatient.

How is everybody else getting on? Xxx

Emc16x · 12/10/2020 09:30

Sorry I’m CD12. Ovulation expected 5-12 days after lost tablet so there’s still time! Xx

rungirl · 12/10/2020 14:23

Hi all,

I hope its ok if i join? I'm on day 10 (last day) of provera with no bleed yet, so will start my first round of Clomid tomorrow. I'm a bit anxious that the provera hasn't resulted in a bleed, has anyone else had that?

I was diagnosed last summer, got a referral then moved house and due to everything this year was only able to be seen again at the end of Sept.

Any advice is welcome!
